If you have the 1st gen and are satisfied, I wouldn't say you need to get these. But there is definitely a difference. I love the volume control on the earbuds and the case making a noise if you need to find it. The battery life is also a major improvement.

Not a good upgrade if your Gen 1 Pros are working fine, but overall a good headphone!
