Customers are saying

Customers appreciate the AirPort Extreme Base Station's ease of use, range, and performance. Many also highlight the strong signal strength and relatively easy setup process, resulting in great coverage. However, some customers find the price to be a bit high. A few also mention that the size could be smaller and that more Ethernet ports would be beneficial.

I bought this because I wanted two things: the new "ac" spec for WiFi, which gives high transfer rates. And I wanted the gigabit ethernet ports to run a couple of devices that I found work better on ethernet (Playstation 4 and Apple TV). Using the Apple Airport Utility, it's easy to set up and to put in some strong security. It is compatible with both Windows and Apple OS X. You can even manage it with Airport Utility for the iPhone or iPad. The WiFi signal is so strong now, I can get a decent signal up my driveway and across the street. Not complaining.

I have tried many different high end routers, such as the net gear nighthawk r8000 and asus rt-68. None of them compare to the reliability of the Apple AirPort Extreme. This is my second AirPort Extreme, I won't consider another brand again.

I currently have two of these. I have one at home and one at the office. It has definetly been better than other wireless routers I have owned in the past. I would strongly recommend getting one. Plus, the setup is extremely simple and easy.

I bought this to replace a AirPort Express that kept going out. I've had it for about 2 months now and it's working great. The signal strength is definitely stronger than the Express and it hasn't dropped the signal as of yet like the Express did.

When I tested my internet speed, my old router was giving us a download speed of only 7 Mbps. The Airport Extreme is so fast. We are up to 21.65 Mbps for our download speed. We could especially notice the speed from the laptop that is used downstairs which is away from the unit. It was easy to install, especially for me (who is not very good at installing computer things.) This products works with both Mac and PC computers as we have a combination of both.

This router works better than my previous router I had. Compared to the google onhub, this Apple router is head and shoulders better than it. Also better than the Comcast/Xfinity router I was using. Highly recommend it.

This router is extremely easy to set up. I was having difficulty getting coverage throughout the house and bought a second one. Programming them to extend the network was simple and now I have good coverage everywhere.

The product does as advertise . It is the most simplest router to setup , and operate. It works well with automation product and plays well with other device. I would highly recommend this product to anyone looking for hassle free operation.

Works great, easy setup, very good range. Maybe a touch pricey but it has been flawless when my previous router was a constant pain so it's worth it.

I am replacing a 10 year old AirPort Extreme N router that finally bid adieu ... I knew right away what my new router would be.. Instantly my speed went from 8-13 mbps to 66 mbps ... Don't buy any other router than the Airport Extreme

If you have problems with routers over and over just break down and get something that actually works... This will not fail or disappoint and will satisfy and solve the issues you've always been disgusted with in other routers. Fool proof...!

I own and have installed a bunch of airports and extremes for biz, family and friends over the years. With the easy airport utility interface and set up you can't go wrong for building a solid LAN. The extreme A/C pushes the full 250 -300 MBPS that Comcast serves us here in this part of the wine country. We get decent broad coverage even through walls etc.. Wish there was an external antennae hookup for customizing the installation up high for even broader coverage at our barn but other than that am totally satisfied. I tried some other monster A/c 1900 router extenders but ultimately prefer the Apple interface that works with iOS devices as well as my Mac laptop. Guess I'm just an Apple addict. I do wish the extreme worked with airplay speakers so I didn't need another airport just for playing music. Hence the 4 stars. BestBuy also matched the online discounted price I found so bought it at the local store.

You have probably read this many times in other Airport reviews "It just works", and that is absolutely an accurate statement and why this router is worth the cost. I have had just about every make and many models of routers over the years and have always had to reboot with varying degrees of frequency for one reason or another. When I started my last search for a "reliable" router, reading endless user and tech reviews, there seemed to always be glowing reviews with the one caveat that they had to reboot the router from time to time. Every other router I have owned had other hiccups that irritated me at times but I could live with that, having to reboot is the biggest irritation though. I was told by a family member that they owned an apple airport extreme and had not rebooted it in over three years, seemed to good to be true, but I have not had to reboot mine since I bought it months ago. In addition, all I did to set it up was plug it in, connected with an iPad, named the network and connected everything else (Xbox, network printers, iPhone, Android phones, TVs and PCs) both wireless and wired without a hitch. The wireless signal is pretty good, covers a 3000 sq ft house and even get good signal out in the backyard. I'm not really an Apple person, but I am absolutely thrilled with the Airport extreme.

Extremely easy to setup on PC, Mac or combination network. This is the second AirPort Extreme on the network and it communicates seamlessly to multiple PCs, iPads, wired and wireless printers as well as Smartphones (mixed manufacturers).

I am using the Airport Extreme as a bridge with my Centurylink C1000 DSL router. The AP Extreme has worked just fine and I do see wifi speeds of close to 700mbs on the 5Ghz band with my Macbook Pro Retina. I have 2 MBPR, 2 iPhone's (6 & 5) and a iPad Mini 3 using the 2 bands from the Extreme and the TV using the 2.4 from the DSL router. It took very little time to set up. I assigned the 2 bands on the higher freqs for the Extreme and let the C1000 use the lower. Since setting up the Extreme I rarely have to reset my C1000. Whereas before I was using a Linksys E450 and was having to reset the C1000 once a day. I wish the 5Ghz band was stronger but I have a small home so the signal strength is fine and the speed is fast. I really think that the C1000 is the problem and am waiting for a DSL modem/router at AC speeds.

I am a big fan of Apple products. You pay more for them but the product last longer than most others. The 802.11 C network access point/router is very easy to set up and I used my old 802.11 N as a network extender on my second floor.
