Customers are saying

Customers appreciate the AirPort Extreme Base Station's ease of use, range, and performance. Many also highlight the strong signal strength and relatively easy setup process, resulting in great coverage. However, some customers find the price to be a bit high. A few also mention that the size could be smaller and that more Ethernet ports would be beneficial.

Really easy to setup and handles a ton of devices at once. The range on this tower is great. I have it sitting in my basement and it covers the entire house and even outside. I have Charter Spectrum internet service and I'm pulling 64mbps on a wireless connection upstairs & 72mbps hard wired. It just works.

I bought this to replace my Time Capsule, knowing that I was going to use a separate external drive for backing up the computers in my home. The range is great and the other features, including speed, are fantastic. (IMHO because of the elevated design.) The contemporary look is stellar...I have it in our entertainment center in our family room so it's centrally located, AND MY WIFE IS OKAY WITH IT!!! Yes, it's pricey, but you get what you pay for!

This is my second AirPort Extreme. My first I bought 8 years ago and it needed to be upgraded but still worked. My internet service was up to 300 mbps but was only able to get 30-60 mbps. As soon as I set up the new Airport, BAM!! 250 mbps!!! This thing was super easy to set up and works great and Best Buy has it $20 cheaper than the Apple Store. Definitely would recommend this to anyone looking for a great router.

The Airport Extreme has been refreshed by Apple fairly recently, and was at one point among the top few performing routers from any brand. Now, the sector has caught up and the Airport Extreme has been slightly surpassed on a strictly numbers basis by some of the other brands' flagship routers. The router is configured via app. The setup is very quick and easy. You'll have access to the majority of standard setup options, enough for most users to configure as needed, though you won't find some of the more advanced DDWRT-esque tuning options present. There is no web management interface, which was a questionable decision, though not a deal-breaker. Performance is very good. You'll get the latest 802.11ac wireless spec for any devices that are capable of using this new standard, and access to the legacy 802.11 standards for any devices which do not. My anecdotal experience finds the range to be considerably better than my previous 5ghz wireless-n router. The underlying hardware benchmark results are generally in-line with the competition, sometimes a little higher, sometimes a little lower depending on the specific test. The price is a little higher (though, same ballpark) than the competition but the fit and finish cannot be beat - this is a router that you can sit on your desk if you wanted rather than keeping it hidden. It has the performance to back up the price tag. If you value the simplicity and style that comes with an Apple product, I'd recommend this. If you are looking for the lowest price or access to more advanced tuning options, it may be best to check out the also very capable competition (Asus, Netgear, etc).

Apple has made the only router that I would not hide somewhere. It looks really nice and simple and fits in about any setting with a simple green light, I actually like having it out for people to see. Looks fancy and the better part is it works really well, took me seconds to hook up and get it running, love this thing. At first I was like not sure about paying 200 for it but now I don't care at all, everywhere I go inside and out of my home I have good signal.

If you have ever had issues setting up a router this is literally the easiest set up I have ever used. If you own a mac, ipad, ipod, or iphone you can set the whole router up right from your phone. The signal speed is excellent and the unit is nice looking and doesn't have anything sticking out. Easy setup and great quality as expected when it comes to apple. Should have done a time capsule but this will do for now. Highly recommend.

We bought 2 of these to work together. One for our house and another one to link up to one in our barn that is about 75 yard away. We were impressed with the strong strength at such a distance. Also so easy to set up. Just have an iphone or ipad nearby and it pops up on your screen. With a few clicksand it is set up! Looking forward to seeing how it performs with multiple people on the network when we havea larg party in the barn.

I am a huge Apple fan. I have a home loaded with apple products. I am writing this review for people like myself. I bought this router to replace my current Apple time capsule. The range on this router is outstanding and I am getting speeds upwards of 57mps. I have xfinity blast internet 50mps. Setup is a piece of cake and the 6 antenna design is great for range and dual bands. I wish the 5ghz band would go a little further but when I'm connected to it the speeds are amazing. I have about 20 devices in my home that hook up to this router and they all work great. Price of course is high but I believe you get what you pay for. This router seems to not run as hot as my old apple router did. If you have a big home this will work great just make sure to put it in a central area of the home.

As a custom and professional AV installer I installed and setup an Apple airpot extreme router for a customer of mine. The setup was very easy and adding all his new smart TVs, iphones, and ipads couldnt have been easier. The coverae through out his house is excellent and everyone is very happy. Once again the Apple airport extream router is an awesome and powerful product and I will recomend this to my customers in the future.

I already own a 2TB Time Capsule and was ore than happy with it. We recently finished a new outdoor building and needed extended wireless in it as well. I connected the new base station via a long Ethernet cable directly to my Router in the House and now I have the same great wireless in my Man Cave. The Unit was easy to set up and worked right out of the Box without any Problems. As far as I am concerned Apple is the way to go.

I bought this to replace an aging Belkin router. WOW! It was so easy to set up and required very little effort. It works well with all my devices, whether or not they are Apple products or not. I really am happy I finally made this purchase. I love knowing I have a reliable router and not having to worry about if it's going to work or not.

I am really impressed with this product. This product distribute wifi strength based on the device needs. I got excellent signal as well as high speed which was not getting from my earlier wifi router. I attached atleast 5 devices with this router then there is not single issue with wifi strength. I am really happy with this product

I replaced my old router with this. Great product more than I needed but now I can wait longer before I need to update again. I have other Apple devices so set-up was super simple. I'm not a tech geek so I can't tell you about all the features. I am about simplicity and if you want easy set-up then this is your choice. True to all Apple products, streamlined appearance, straightforward to use and a little pricier.

I bought this to improve WIFI in my house. It does that, it pushes the signal further than the Apple Express router. What I did was to use this as my primary router, and use the Apple Express as a wireless extender, plugged in upstairs, and have more WIFI coverage in my house by using both together. You do not need a hardline between the two routers, just wireless connection and an outlet to plug both into.
