I use 95% Apple products. BUT, I also use a PC (Windows 10} laptop, an X Box, a Sony Smart TV, and a Samsung phone, that all depend on my home network. The Airport Extreme INSTANTLY made access to my wireless easy. Set-up was incredibly easy and fast. I feel like the router, itself, is secure and, from my standpoint, easily accessible. Jumped my internet access speed on all electronics. Very pleased.

Incredibly easy replacement for existing AirPort

I purchased this to replace an older generation AirPort Extreme that was finally giving up the ghost. I expected to spend several hours copying down the configuration information from the old AirPort to enter it into the new AirPort, but... Whoa. I plugged in the new AirPort and found the WiFi signal. When i selected it on my MacBook Air, an Apple utility popped up and asked if this new AirPort was to replace the old AirPort. When i replied, "Yes", the pop-up utility mulled over my answer for less than a minute, then instructed me to move the cables from the old AirPort to the new AirPort. Wait, could it really be this easy? After moving the cables, I clicked on the utility to tell it to proceed. It mulled over this process for a few minutes, then declared that the migration was complete. And it was! I was pleasantly surprised at how easy the replacement process was. As for the new AirPort Extreme, it is doing what I expect and why I moved from LinkSys to Apple AirPorts years ago: it just works with no drama. I highly recommend the AirPort if you want a router/WiFi access point that "just works", no fuss, no drama.

I replaced an older airport express, thinking I would need it to extend my coverage in my town home. I was wrong. This thing allows for much faster connections, and a strong signal through 3 levels, despite being located on the bottom floor! It was easy to get connected, and I was up and running in no more than 5 minutes. We have nothing connected directly to it, utilizing only wifi. Awesome product!

This is a fantastic router. It has an easy to setup interface that can be configured with an iOS device. The router allows for the simultaneous setup of 3 networks (home, 5Ghz, and a guest network). The new wireless AC spec really shines with wireless AC equipped devices. It also come with a USB port that allows for printing and disk access. A few of these routers can cover a large amount of space.

Improve performance - I was using my previous Airport for Airplay features - music to an Apple TV plus an additional Airport Express and Bose system. Frequent drops and interference have been almost eliminated (still get an occasional drop). Speed seems to have improved in browsing, etc. as well. Glad I upgraded!

I needed a gigabit wireless router and the Best Buy employee suggested this one, and my wife uses Apple products so why not. We've had it about a month and it has worked pretty well connecting to my son's iPad and wife's iPhone and MacBook Pro. My biggest gripe however, is that it can only be managed by an Apple device using an OSX or iOS application, there doesn't appear to be a web interface (though previous generations had a Windows app). I ended up keeping it since it is easy for them to use, but I wouldn't buy it again.

Apple's new compact and beautiful AirPort Extreme Base Station supports 802.11ac Wi-Fi, is easy to use, and offers solid performance. Other than the new design and 802.11ac, there are no other improvements over the previous generation. The router is inflexible and offers no support for Time Machine backup or media streaming via the USB storage. Home users, especially Apple fans who own 802.11ac-enabled devices, will love the new AirPort Extreme for its all-new elegant design, ease of use, and great performance; advanced users should look elsewhere for more features and customization.

It works. The best thing about Apple routers is that they work with little to no configuration. I plugged this one in and it picked up the settings from my old router and started working right away. The signal is stronger on this version of the AirPort than on the old, flatter version. It can be used with the old AirPort Extreme and the Airport Express to extend the signal.

Replaced my buggy Linksys EA4200 that was put out of its misery by a power surge. I have multiple Apple products (MacBook Retina Pro, Apple TV, iPhones, and iPads) and the AirPort Extreme handles them all easily. Throw in a couple of kids laptops, Wii U, Xbox 360, and Xbox One and still no issues.

Using a previous-generation Airport Extreme, the wifi signal in my house was good, but not great. There were dead zones where we got no signal at all, and others where it was strong. This new AE version, I hoped, would resolve those problems, and I was right. The beam-focusing technology really seems to work, as I get a clear, strong signal even out on the patio. Setup could not be easier. The device simply migrated all the old settings using Airport Utility, and I was up a running in no time. The taller design may be a problem for some folks, depending upon your placement, but it's nice enough looking that you won't feel the need to hide it anyway. Overall, I'm very happy with this purchase.

Purchased this for my wife's parents after they fought poor internet connection for years. They have a 3,500sqft single story house, so I was concerned about range. Setup was a breeze and they get full strength and speed all over the house. Very easy to interface with an iPhone or iPad and simple to understand: just one light on the front, if it's green you're good to go.

Excellent were you can't hardwire to router

Great addition to expand your WiFi were you can't hard wire directly into your router in another room. This has three Ethernet ports so you can plug directly into the AirPort Extreme right where you devices and entertainment center is without losing any speed from your internet connection. Easy setup from iPhone or iPad. Download the Airport app and wait for it to do it's magic. The Agent at Best Buy was outstanding. I was looking for another device to do this job but the agent asked if the electrical circuit wiring was on the same plug as the router. This would cause the device not to work so we went with the Apple AirPort Extreme which communicates with the WiFi not through the electrical plugs as the one we first were looking at. Great knowledge from the BB agent.

It's added versatility to operate dual-band support and Wi-Fi speeds three times faster than the previous AirPort Extreme base station is the biggest selling point...not to mention its great design. So far, it has been a much better experience in performance and reliability than the previous generation (though still great). Love it and would recommend it to everyone.

I went from using a wireless N router provided by Comcast and had ~20-30 megabit speeds. After connecting the AirPort Extreme I'm pulling a constant 60 Megabis per second without any hiccups or connection issues. It's phenomenal. It's connected to an I mac with AC wireless as well as a MacBook Pro and they both get the constant 60 download. It's such a huge upgrade!

I have used Apple Time Capsules and Airport Exptremes for several years. The latest generation offers high performance and easy installation. Set up is trivial. I purchased this latest AirPort Extreme to extend my WiFi in a larger home. I already had one AirPort Extreme. Setup was easy and it works great. I just ran a speed test on my iPad Air 2 and Comcast Blast service. I got 142 Mbits download and 12 Mbits upload. I use Apple iPhones, iPads and Macs, but Airport Extremes work just as well with PCs. I have both 2.4GHz and 5 GHz networks active. I use DHCP and IP address reservations for some devices in my house. I think some folks prefer more access to router settings, but I have never been unable to do anything I wanted to do on the AirPort Extreme.

I really can't say enough about this - it was essentially a one button setup and took less than 5 minutes. The sales rep that helped me with selecting a wireless router was a gem, if you have more Apple devices than PCs this is the way to go. Also, with router I used to have I needed a wireless range extender but I no longer need it with this router.

Works much better than the Netgear Nighthawk R7000 that I originally purchased. The Netgear constantly would drop the internet and disconnect my back up drive. I have not had either problem once with this router. Netgear customer support could not fix the problems I had so I eventually returned that router for this one. I originally had reservations because several reviews online say that it will not work with an external hard drive for Time Machine backups. The new model that is selling now (this one) DOES work with an external hard drive. Plug the hard drive in and it is immediately recognized and Time Machine backs up flawlessly to it. The only issue I have had is that it does not work flawlessly with a DNS hosting service. It can be set up but does not automatically regain the DNS address after a power outage or other problem that would require it to refresh the DNS address. Other brand routers costing similar provide this feature. The new AC wifi standard does provide better coverage in my house than the N router I had previously. The N router I had would occasionally drop the wifi in certain areas of the house. I have not experienced that problem with this new router.

I have used 3 different lower end routers over the years and had finally had enough. Purchased this and the setup was the easiest and quickest of any i have experienced. The app utility is nice and easy to use. So far much better performance than my older ones. I have not noticed any better coverage though which is a little bit of a disappointment.
