Overall quality and usability is amazing. That magnetic charger was a great idea on apples end. Just strange that such a device is priced at $129 (@time of purchase), no replaceable tips with purchase, and very simple design.

The pencil works great. The only downside is that the tip has worn out after only three months of use. Had to purchase new ones.

The Apple Pencil is a great stylus for the iPad Pro. It works great and tracks extremely well. Only thing I wish they did was add an extra pencil tip. I dropped mine and scratched it pretty bad that I had to order 4 new tips instead of just being able to easily replace it with a backup

Apple Pencil empowers us to be an artist. I was not interested in drawing up until I got the pencil. It would take sometime before you get use to draw with iPad on glass screen. Also, the ability of note taking is so convenient and the fast response rate make it enjoyable to use. The only downside is the price tag is a bit too high with out getting additional replacement tips unlike the previous pencil version.

I'm so glad I waited for second gen. I like that the pne doesn't awkwardly plug in. The magnetic charge and attach is brilliant. The sensitivity has also greatly improved. My only complaint is the tip screws off during use and my pen becomes unresponsive. It took me a while to figure out this was the issue for why my pen wouldn't work. Now that I know, I just keep an eye on the tip if I'm heavily doodling.

I love the new design of the Apple Pencil 2 and the fact you no longer need to deal with charging via a Lightning Port. The Apple Pencil 2 charges magnetically along the side of the iPad Pro. It also pairs to the iPad through via the magnet making set up a breeze. Writing and drawing are all wonderful to do. Some downsides include the price/durability. The pencil itself is sturdy, but at some point I dropped the pencil and the tip became damaged/unusable. Apple sells replacement tips (4 for $19.99) and they're easy to replace, but when you're already spending $129 on a device you expect it to hold up a little longer and not have to spend an extra $20.

I've owned the Apple pencil for a little over a month. I purchased it when I purchased the new iPad Pro. When I first pulled it out of the box and paired it up with my iPad, I went to write with it in one of the apps, and it was barely making marks on the screen. Turned out that the tip needed to be tightened. It was disappointing that it didn't work out of the box, but once I got it working, I enjoyed writing with it. I left it attached to the iPad overnight to charge. The next day, I went to use it and it wasn't charged. I had to turn on the iPad before it would charge up again. Once I got it to a full charge, I then went into a couple of meetings and was taking notes with it. Around the 2 hour mark, the pencil runs out of charge. Sometimes less, sometimes a little more, depending on how intensely I'm using it and whether or not I can sneak it back on the iPad to pick up a little charge. Overall, I'm disappointed with the fact that I didn't have a charge at the start of the day and that I don't get enough charge to get through the day. My final issue with the pencil is around durability. I've my iPad in a UAG case that has a flap which wraps around the pencil when the cover is in place. This helps hold the pencil in addition to the magnetic attachment. A few days ago, I was running to the car and holding my iPad inside my jacket to shield it from the rain. The pencil was knocked free from the iPad on the sidewalk under the awning and landed on the tip. It was under the awning where it was dry, so it didn't get wet. Unfortunately, I've not been able to get it to work since this event. I know it hit the tip because there is the slightest rough spot on the tip that wasn't there before. When I attach the pencil to the iPad, the iPad recognizes that there is a pencil and asks to connect, but never successfully connects. It never displays the charge. It never shows up in the bluetooth devices. It never works in any of the apps that support the pencil. I've tried all the troubleshooting tips: try to repair, turning the iPad off/on, soft reset, etc. At this point, I'm starting to expect that it is permanently damaged. I would have hoped that for a stylus in the $100+ category, it could be a little more durable. I've only had this for 40 days.

The pencil can sense if you're holding it straight or at a slant and the strokes become thicker the more you slant it. It works fabulously in the Notes app and fairly well in other apps, I am sure the other apps will offer updates for iPad Pro soon. Procreate is one of the art apps that offers full support for the Apple pencil and it is amazing. It is however a complex app to use as it has mind-boggling features for advanced drawing and painting. Luckily, it comes with a full featured book to explain how it works. Some apps like Sketches are easier. See sample pic sketched in 10-12 min (Sketches App). This is an excellent input device for the Apple iPad Pro. It is not perfect in some ways but it is very good at drawing, writing and touch control of the tablet. Here are the pros and cons as I have seen them since my use of the pencil: Pros: . Excellent for drawing or writing . Excellent for reworking photos and doing graphic arts . When used as a touch control it is very precise when using the tip. I even like using it to read with and highlighting text in a book. . It comes with a spare tip that can be replaced. . It comes with a lightning adapter that lets you use a lighting cable to charge the pencil. . It charges quickly . You can vary the pressure or the slope of the pencil tip to adjust the darkness or the width of a stoke of a bush while coloring a drawing for example. . You can see the charge level of the pencil by pulling down on the daily window shade at the top of the screen and touching widgets. The charge level of your iPad and the pencil will be displayed. Cons: . There is no way to attach the pencil to the iPad Pro or to the Apple Smart Keyboard. A simple magnet or other mounting technique would have been greatly appreciated. . The cap covering the Lightning plug on the pencil is in no way attached to the pencil which makes it very easy to lose since you have to frequently remove the cap to charge the pencil. The cap does have a small built in magnet so that when it is installed on the pencil it remains in place, but once removed to charge the pencil its lifetime is limited to human error of losing it. . The charging connector supplied for the pencil is vey small and it also has no method of connecting it to a key ring or any other object. It is the size of a small medical pill and potentially easily lost. .
