    HomePod mini review

The HomePod mini is surprisingly loud and full for something so small. ... Overall, the HomePod mini sounds great with most music genres and packs a serious punch for its size but can't quite match the sonic highs of some of the best smart speakers out there, even in a stereo pair.

I had the homePod for a couple months and unfortunately it wasn't for me. I feel that for the price it simply does not compare to a amazon alexa or google home. It really does way less than what any of those two can do and on top of that they are both cheaper. Before this I had a google home mini that I received for free and it did much more than what the homepod could do. After I gave away my homePod I got an alexa and to this day have it and I can say the same. My biggest issue with the homepod was the fact that it really felt incapable of doing things a assistant usually should be able to do without the requirement of using your iphone. Whenever I would try to ask it a fairly simple question that it could pull from the web easily like an alexa or google home could it would always say something like "I found some results, would you like me to send them to your phone?" And yeah that is a great feature to have if I wanted to see the results on my phone but If I wanted that I really would've just picked up my phone and asked siri on there. It may just be my personal preference but I like it when the assistant can read out loud results for the question you ask them. Not force me to grab my phone to see them. I don't know if apple designed it like this on purpose or if there are people out there who prefer it to function like that but I don't really like it. It was the main reason I got rid of it. It really felt like it couldn't do anything I wanted it to. I know some people have a apple eco system that this device probably works very well to sync everything up together but if you plan on buying this thinking it's apple's version of the alexa I would suggest you take a good look at it or try it out first. It did not meet my expectations very well. I don't want to totally bash this thing, I do believe it is a good device for certain things and that there are probably good reasons to buy this device apple probably would've discontinued it if there wasn't. Since then I've gotten myself into ring security which was bought by amazon so I got kinda forced into the amazon eco system which Is why I bought an alexa. Overall the device has it's pros and cons like every other device but this one in particular has room for improvement. I would buy an alexa over this. (I gave it to my brother and I'm not sure what he thinks of it but I'll add some pictures of it.)

I was having a lot of issues with Alexa, constantly interrupting me while I was talking to people, even if I never mentioned the word, Alexa. And randomly Alexa would just start playing music even if I didn’t even say anything. So far, I’ve had good luck with the homepod device. I also like the sound much better.

The best Bluetooth speaker for the money if you are already within the Apple Ecosystem. This thing has a broad feature set that is not limited to just playing music over Bluetooth. Setup is easy and if you’re using other Apple products playing music through the speaker DOES NOT require you to go connect to it in your Bluetooth settings every time you wanna use it. I didn’t realize how crucial this was until we got one and I experienced it for myself.

OK so here is my story: I have Bose Solo 15 Series II soundbar for my TV and playing music over bluetooth needs, which has a very awesome sound and Bass. Now before purchasing Apple HomePod I told my wife that Bose would blow this thing out of the water and then I may return this but believe me, on it's head to head comparison with Bose Apple HomePod came winner in most of the songs that I played (Bose also did a nice job) but I was so amazed that how speaker like this which is not very big is awesome on sound plus all of it's smart features which Bose does not have it. This is clearly my best black Friday purcahse ever. Also, kudos to Best Buy they delivered this awesome gadget to me next day. Definetly recommend this to any one who is on the fence to buy this.

This is a great product but there are some things that just make me take off one star from my rating. I use this mostly as a speaker and the sound is great! Before this i was using my sound bar but with me living on the second floor i had to keep it at a low volume so i wouldn’t upset my neighbors, but with this Mini I’m able to get the great sound i would get with my sound bar but without being too loud. Siri is good on this too. I would rate it a 7/10. For some reason when i ask about the weather i have to confirm where i want the weather for, even though she has my location. When i ask for battery life on any of my devices Siri says “i don’t have battery life but i can tell you the battery life of any other devices” that’s pretty annoying but other than that Siri still does everything else great like always.

These speakers are so amazing! I was able to remove all of the speakers and wires from my TV! No extra speakers needed. We have a HomePod next to each of the chairs we sit in to watch TV, so no more need for hearing aid adjustments to hear TV. It works for movies on TV AND apple music, using TV or iPhone. There is no drain on our iPhone batteries either. When you want the volume adjustment you just ask Siri to do it. To pause the music or movie, you can ask Siri to pause or you can touch the top of the HomePod to start and stop. Great sound, great technology for us aging folks! They are a big deal for such a small speaker!!

I purchased this item along with a Mac mini. My plan was to use the HomePod as the speaker for the computer. So far it has worked well. The volume is such as it allows me to watch streaming services with great sound. I also like using the device as a time and alarm. I hope to find other uses for it in the future. Good purchase

If you’re in the Apple ecosystem, a HomePod mini is a nice addition. It’s small, looks good, sounds pretty decent, and overall is useful. My main issues with this device: it has a dumbed-down way of setting up that is highly frustrating. It grabs your network from your setup device (my iPhone). So far, so good. But I live in an apartment, with lots of Wi-Fi networks really closeby. I have Xfinity, with my own named network. But I’ve also loaded the profile for the Xfinity hotspots on my phone so I can access them when out and about. Now, there are many other Xfinity customers around me, many of whom have their hotspot turned on. The HomePod grabs the profile for the Xfinity Wi-Fi network from my phone. Now, if my own network hiccups for whatever reason, it loves to slide onto one of these other networks. Then, I get “I’m having trouble connecting to the internet” and “This is taking longer than normal. Please open the Home app and connect me to the internet.” Even more annoying “Hey Siri, set an alarm for 8 am,” which results in “I’m sorry, you must be on the same network to manage alarms.” If I go to the Home app, select the HomePod, it will show it as on another network. Or on my network, but I still get these errors. I think it likes to hop between the dozen available in the area. But there is no way to access any kind of network selection or exclusion list in Home, and there’s no actual interface on the device. And you think Siri can help with that? No, Siri cannot. I’ve noticed that Siri has become less and less intelligent over the years. When Siri first came out - as an independent app that I had on my iPhone 3GS, I could ask Siri to “make me dinner reservations for 2 tomorrow night at SPQR” and it would return “a table for two is available at 6:45 pm and 9:30 p.m, which would you like?” “9:30 pm” “ Ok, you have reservations for 2 at 9:30 pm tomorrow at SPQR in San Francisco.” Good luck getting that kind of assistance anytime since. As you must interface with the HomePod primarily by verbal commands, Siri willl likely be a source of frustration. Commands that work one day will not work the next. Siri does a lot of time “thinking” and “sorry.”
