Great Sound In a Small Package

I was skeptical at first because of its size, but the sound is really good. Siri functions are prompt and of course works well with my Home Kit devices. I like that fact that they are somewhat affordable and you can play music and conduct Siri functions throughout the house. Haven't used the intercom function but, that a nice plus

The HomePod mini sounds great! I bought two to put in a stereo pair and they sound amazing! The only problem is that with certain internet modems they can have issues. I previously had spectrum but when I switched to AT&T all my issues went away. They are extremely easy to setup and look modern so they blend in almost anywhere.

The HomePod mini delivers impressive sound quality for its size, truly packing a punch. While it’s not quite as powerful as the regular HomePod, it still offers a rich audio experience. Having it in your room, or pairing two for a stereo setup, creates a cozy, home theater vibe that’s perfect for an apartment.

Love the HomePod mini. We have 5 of them, in different rooms. Love that it also tells temperature and humidity in that room. In addition to playing music, I ask Siri daily "hey what is the temperature outside" and she's quick to let me know. We also use this (2 in tandem, actually) as the external speakers for our main TV, gives a surround sound experience.

I like the fact that this is small enough for places you can store it. The color is great too. Easy to set up with your iPhone. The one thing I would change would be bluetooth capability. It has a charging unit that has to be plugged in to operate.

Not an audiophile product but decent

I'm a bit disappointed with these speakers in that the bass leaves much to be desired. The medium to high range frequencies are pretty good, however. The HomePod Mini is by no means an audiophile product. Setup is quick and easy if you have Apple products, such as iPhone, iPad, or Macs. Besides controlling the speaker from an Apple device, one can merely tap the top of the speaker to control it. One caveat, however, is the need to learn the sequence of taps to control its various functions. That's not a problem if you use it this way often because those sequences will become second nature. If, however, one only uses the taps occasionally, one will want to keep a note nearby as reference. That being said, the speaker does respond to Siri commands too. For $99, it's a good deal. The build quality seems very good and is easy to use. I do wish Apple was currently offering a much better sounding speaker for audiophiles.

Situation I found myself in last year: Alexa had just gotten dumb. I mean DUMB. Moreover, no amount of opt out settings could stop the unsolicited suggestions that I really did not want to hear about. Alexa integration with Apple Music was also poor. So for the simple purpose of controlling g music, smart home devices and setting kitchen timers, it just made sense to get HomePods. Siri is still very far from being a great digital assistant but for simple voice control, she gets the job done painlessly if you’re home tech is Apple centric.

Amazing Sound Quality for an almost smart speaker.

The HomePod seems to still fly under the radar for smart speakers. People always ask about them at my house and most have never seen or heard the HomePod before. A lot of people also don’t know about HomeKit and Siri built into it. However, they are always impressed by the sound and quality of the HomePod. I purchased a HomePod from Best Buy to make a stereo pair with on I already had. With the price reduction of $199 on sale which Best Buy has run every few weeks like clock work, the HomePod is more affordable than ever and is a must buy at its current reduced prices. AUDIO FEATURES While one HomePod sounds great, a stereo pair is where this speaker really shines. The soundstage is large and the audio is warm and balanced. Music has rich, deep bass accompanied by crisp, smooth highs and a balanced midrange. Out of the box, the eq settings are perfect and the microphone placements inside analyze the surrounding environment in which they are placed to automatically adjust the EQ of the speaker. As you move it throughout the house, it shines in an open setting or against a wall where it will pump out loud and clear sound without clipping. With a stereo pair (you can pair them in the Home app), the music is then sent as LEFT and RIGHT channels and the quality is unparalleled. You can even pair them with Apple TV for amazing home theatre quality mimicking surround sound or soundbar setup. Music and TV audio will fill the room perfectly. They are plenty loud in any placement and they sound just as good at a higher volume without distortion. You can also handoff audio playing on your iPhone by simply holding your iPhone next to the device. Your iphones audio will seamlessly transfer to your HomePod without interruption. You can then hold your phone next to the HomePod to have the audio transferred back to your iPhone. You can also stream any airplay capable audio to the speakers from your MacBook or other apple device by selecting the HomePod in the airplay drop down menu. SMART FEATURES The HomePod features a touchscreen on the top of the speaker that recognizes certain gestures like the Echo or Google Home devices. The HomePod has no physical buttons, but illuminated to reveal a volume up and down touchpad and a singular circle touchpad in between them that you can tap to pause, play, and skip songs. You can also accept or reject phone calls on the HomePod and utilize the HomePod to talk on the phone. The microphone quality is great - on the phone you come across extremely clear and “Hey Siri” is almost always recognized in any part of the room you say it. Of all my smart devices, this one recognizes my voice more than any other device and I don’t have to yell or repeat myself to get it to recognize me. The HomePod is integration of Siri is where the speaker leaves a lot to be desired. You can use the Siri function just as you would on your phone. You can set alarms, send texts, make calls, ask it to play music, and ask some basic questions such as metric conversions or “Who is Nicholas Cage”. If you’ve used Siri, you’ll know that it is an AI far behind Alexa and Hey Google. Complicated questions confuse it and it often can’t answer simple questions that Alexa and Google are able to answer. Apple is constantly improving Siri, but I use my Google Nest Hub far more for my everyday questions. If you are a HomeKit user, you can control your smart home with the HomePod. HomeKit, however, has far fewer applications where it useful and it is still pretty bare bones in comparison with its counterparts. For my smart home functions Philips Hue, ecobee, SimpliSafe etc, I prefer to use my google home and Alexa. The functions of HomeKit are limited and until it gets better, it is much easier to use another AI for controlling my home. Even though Apple is serious about its smart home integration with the HomePod, it just isn’t useful yet. So if you’re looking primarily for a smart device, choose something else. CONCLUSION For most people that buy the HomePod are aware of this and they buy it for it’s best quality, its speaker. It is far better than any other speaker in my house, and head to head with the Home Max and Echo Studio, it is miles above them with unparalleled sound quality. For the price, it is the best speaker you can buy and you won’t regret the absolutely amazing sound quality. As a stereo pair, it is much better than some of the top speaker brands at a fraction of the cost. Siri is great for asking it to my shuffle my playlists or play certain albums and the hands free nature of being able to ask for music is great. The design is beautiful - the minimalist look fits well in any space and the cloth covering is much more appealing than plastic or other alternatives that many speakers use. It is very much a signature Apple device that is still underrated. If you are looking for incredible sound in a small and reasonably priced device, you cannot get any better than the HomePod.

I purchased this with the idea that it would act as alarm clock for me when I decided to take all other electronics out of my bedroom at night. Like anything Apple branded it off course works seamlessly with your iPhone so Siri works great and the “handoff” feature of placing your phone on top of the speaker and then whatever you’re playing starts playing on the speaker also works great. Sound is also surprisingly good for such a small speaker. However, if you’re like me and want to use it as an alarm clock of sorts I would recommend against it. Annoyingly, you can tell Siri to set an alarm and it will, but if I happen to wake up early and want to cancel the alarm, I would have to start talking to Siri and ask to turn the alarm off. No problem if you’re single but if you’ve got someone sleeping next to you then you’re having a conversation that will inevitably wake them up. There’s no way of getting to your iPhone and turning the alarm off on the HomePod specifically. Because of that, I went with Amazon Alexa echo spot which has a digital clock and weather display, Alexa voice recognition to turn an alarm on and the ability to turn the alarm off directly on the unit to or my phone - and it’s $50 cheaper.

First thing - dont buy this speaker if youre not bought into the Apple HomeKit and Siri ecosystem. If youre looking to control a smart home using a variety of devices and manufacturers then youll prob want to look at amazon or google until Matter (and to a lesser extent Thread) are more widely entrenched. If you simply want to play music from Apple Music on your iphone to a speaker and youre more than happy with siri then this is a great entry into the apple smart home. If you want a thread border router then this is also a great cheap entry. If youre looking for a simple stereo system for apple tv and willing to pay the apple tax then this is a reasonable entry for a small room. Have a bigger room? A homepod is prob better there.

Big sound from a small speaker. Exceeded expectations on sound quality and volume. Good looking, and compact. Excited to get another to pair for stereo. I like using with Airplay to simultaneously stream music to my Mac, Apple TV, Vizio TV and Yamaha receiver all at once - works just like a Sonos system.

Fantastic sound quality and easy setup. It’s a good value for the price. It sounds way better than my google home mini. Although google assistant is superior in some ways, Siri can actually hear you quite easily even while music is playing. I feel like I need to yell when speaking to the google home mini.

Bought two, stereo paired. Sound is nice. Siri control of HomeKit devices handy. Intercom is cool. Handoff to and from iPhone works well. Appletv can use them as well. Just waiting for apple to upgrade as so I can use them as true surrounds with stereo paired HomePods to improve atmos experience.

GREAT ADDITION TO HOMEPOD ORIGINAL OR STANDALONE FOR SMALLER SPACES. I have two of these that I use as a supplement to my larger HomePod. Apple has a cool feature that allows you to set them up in stereo (designate a L/R mini pod to allow for true stereo playback and mated volume level). I also find it handy to have the touch controls located in a couple additional places via these, for example my larger home pod is closer to the entrance of the room where as the mini pods are located near seating locations (my desk and recliner). While these do cover the full range of highs and lows, the larger HomePod offers the thumpy bass if you’re looking for that. The mini’s speakers do a better than is to be expected job with lows, but even so it is obviously much less pronounced than the full size HomePod, which is why I opted to use two of them with the full size HomePod to create a powerful sound system combination. For office, dorm, smaller applications a single one of these should meet any demands.

Apple never ceases to amaze me! Wish I had had this years ago, very very easy to set up, and works perfectly! 65 years old, been a musician all my life, and for the past 30 years running my own studio, I know what sounds good and what doesn't sound good, and I am totally blown away at how good the sound is coming from this little ball, absolutely amazing sound quality, and I can control every light, thermostat, pretty much everything in the house with my voice. Just bought another one to go upstairs, very highly recommend!

The sound is excellent and looks good too! Nice bass for the size. Siri can hear you from another room and it can get pretty loud. Nothing earth-shattering but it can fill a small room to medium-sized room. The stereo pairing makes it sound even louder. Overall I am happy with them. Going to buy more.

Apple again at his best. Small compact speaker with seamless connectivity to apple devices. I love the sound and use it at my work desk for listening to podcasts and radio. Siri is available which gives you option to control the content. I use Pandora but i wish Apple would have given the support with Youtube as well. Faced connectivity issues couple of times thats why giving 4 stars.
