This is am upgrade to a second generation iPad which was getting older and slower. The improved resolution, screen response and functions in the updated OS (as the older unit was no longer eligible for OS updates make this a great unit. Battery life continues to be great with mild use requiring only a charge ever 3-4 days for how it is being used. Screen response is smooth and the cameras continue to be good performers. Only downside was the slight change in fit to older unit cases which required an updated case.

I own ipad 3, mini gen 1 and these devices become slow with safari page load. This new ipad 2017 model is fast, it loads the pages (which are filled with ads) effortlessly. I suppose the newer iOS might have something to do with it too. Older ipad models do not get latest iOS. The plastic screen does not bother me. This ipad is also lighter my old ipad 3 which was designed a long time ago. this pad does not have the vertical/horizontal view lock button like oler models do. I give it 5 stars due to price/perf value.

I had the 2nd generation iPad and this new model exceeds all my expectations. Easy to use, more than enoug GB’s, and light weight.

iPad is faster, has a better looking screen comparing to iPad Air 2. It's a little bit thicker though, almost same form factor as iPad Air. The cheapest iPad ever. If you are looking for a cheap iPad for browsing, read or entertainment, this is probably the best choice on market right now.

The new iPad is the easiest to use yet. Super fast and easy to travel with because of it’s sleek design and light weight.

Bought this for my son who needed a device for his elementary school online work. He takes it to school every day and they use it in class. No issues setting it up for him. He is able to use it without any problems at all. Anyway, today’s generation just knows technology somehow. He had used some other tablets earlier, including a 2nd gen iPad, and finds this one much better. Display is gorgeous and use is easy. It is very fast and almost everything works well. Camera is also pretty good. Overall, a very good tablet. I have returned to iPad having tried a Samsung and Amazon tablet and there is no comparison at all. Now, one problem. Some apps are not downloading from App Store. I just see the ‘loading’ status for these. In fact it might be for all apps. Such teething problems in an Apple device are now all too common these days, sadly. I am also having problem keeping the Bluetooth off. It seems to switch on by itself (unless my son is pranking me).

Originally had Apple iPad 2, my screen cracked and needed just a little more space and speed. The 5th gen iPad is smaller lighter quicker brighter and crisper screen. Comes with 32gb vs 16gb I had. It was easy to set up. Did not need extra functionally of pro versions. This is a great iPad for browsing, music, games, light work.

This is my second iPad. Many improvements make this a pleasure to use. It is light weight and fast. Great for traveling.

I love this IPAD. It is small and light for traveling yet has a nice size screen for viewing. It has a lot of power and really fun games to play while killing time at doctor appointments, airports, on the plane, etc. With the WIFI it easily connects to the internet while away from home and checking stocks and email. Best Buy had a super low price on it so it made a fantastic Christmas present for my wife. Now we each have one and they get used extensively every day.

I originally had purchased a 10.1 in Samsung Android and didn't really care for the shape of it plus my brother had purchased a mini iPad 4 and the feel of the hardware just made me want an Apple tablet. When a brand new one was released cheaper than usual, I thought it was the right time plus it comes with a 9.7 in and 32GB of storage. I got the tablet and I'm happy with my purchase. I wish I had more control over putting my icons on the screen however I want, but that's not a big deal. It's Apple, everything was pretty much as great as I expected to be. I will also add that I was concern that this iPad wasn't called iPad 5 or iPad Air 3. According to some reviews I read, its due to it not being a major improvement on past iPads. It's not thinner than the Air 2 plus it doesn't have some type of display feature call "True...." something or another but the resolution is the same. It does have a faster processor than the last iPad but, basically, it wasn't a big improvement over the last release. Still, its a great fit for me and then another plus is the iTunes library. I give it 5 stars overall.

I bought this 2017 9.7 inch iPad as a gift to replace an old iPad that was slowing down and was stuck on IOS 9.*. This new iPad is much faster, runs the latest OS, has twice the storage, and cost half as much as the old one. It's a great 'appliance' that has all of the benefits of newer technology and the mature Apple approach to software upgrades and vetted applications. An awesome purchase for the person who wants to upgrade without moving to the leading edge.

Great screen quality and resolution. Weighs hardly anything and still feels sturdy. Good camera on this model.

Just the right size and memory. Works quickly (until a new one comes out at least) and easy to carry around.

This tablet is a good size and weight and easy to use. Has everything I need and the price point is great !

I have to say this IPAD is awesome! I upgraded from an IPAD mini. I love reading and found that I needed a much bigger screen and I got it with this IPAD for sure. I also purchased the 2-year extended Apple Warranty for a reasonable price. So easy to use and beats any tablet out there. I downloaded the kindle app too, it works like a charm. Get one for yourself!
