I purchased this during a Best Buy promotion at a discounted price during a pre-Black Friday sale. I was looking for a basic iPad to supplement my iPad Mini 2 that I use all the time. I think it’s a great size for tablet computing- it’s a little easier on the eyes to read than the iPad Mini and the keyboard is larger which allows for easier typing for emails, text messages, etc. I also considered the iPad Pro 10.5. I was not interested in the brand new iPad Pro line from 2018 as that was much more than I needed, but again Best Buy offered a very good pre-Black Friday price on the 10.5 inch 2017 iPad Pro model. I compared the two side-by-side. The iPad 9.7 offered a tremendous value at the sale price and was a strong contender. I found it remarkably fast and responsive. The clarity of the screen is good, and it made for a definite upgrade over my old iPad Mini 2. However, I felt that the screen had too much glare and sounded a little plastic-like when tapped since it is not fully laminated. Visually, the air gap under the screen did not seem to be an issue. In the end, it was more a factor of the feel of the screen and the glare that was the deciding factor in the end. The iPad Pro 10.5 offered some additional features that I liked so I felt in the long run it was worth the extra money.

Bought this 6th Gen iPad as an upgrade/replacement for a “kid tablet” for my high school aged grandson. Super glad I got the 128GB model vice the 32GB model so now he doesn’t have to worry about what he can download or store. He says battery drain is much slower than on his iPhone but it does seem to take much longer to charge once it is drained. My grandson and I have both Android and Apple products so the below are our opinions based on familiarity with both systems. Pros: Set up – easy to get set up and use right out of the box Battery Life – Excellent Screen Quality – Definitely not Samsung screen quality, but Very Good Eco system – Outstanding for educational Apps Build – Very durable Speaker sound – Not Bose quality, but very good and better than my iPhone Facetime built into the system is a big bonus Cons: Ram – Are you kidding me, only 2GB of ram in this day and age. Come on Apple. Siri - Sorry Apple, Siri is definitely an inferior product when compared to OK Google. Customizing – Extremely limited and what Apple chooses for you is all you get. Apple snooping – Apple wants to use your location all the time for practically everything. The reason I say this is if you turn off location many, many apps will not work. Many of these apps do not need your location but Apple forces you to accept it. User Account – limited to only 1 whereas Android tablets don’t have that restriction. Bottom line – very good product and he says it is lightweight and easy to carry in his backpack.

I bought this as an upgrade for my aging iPad 4, and this is my third iPad. It’s nice and fast, and the screen is good and sharp. I decided not to spend the money on the pro models as this one is pro enough for me. It has the FaceTime camera and Touch ID which allows it to have Apple Pay for web sites and apps that support it. If you have or get an Apple Pencil, it supports that as well. It has a faster processor equivalent to the iPad version of the iPhone 7, which means that it is capable of viewing HEVC 4K video (and at least theoretically capable of editing it if you get it on the device), but the camera is an older camera that shoots no more than 1080p. For the most part, it feels very good and solid. The screen doesn’t feel as solid as my old iPad 4, but then again, this iPad is quite a bit less expensive for much more storage space. The screen also seems a bit smaller than the iPad 4, but it’s still big enough. Overall, I’m pleased with it and am really glad that Apple now has a great iPad available for this price.

Bought one which had a defective LCD (common enough to see others report it) but functionally I was impressed. For $330 when it was on sale I must say that if you get your full use out of it then you will be perfectly content as the screen resolution and quality are great performers along with good sound. Is it the best? No. Is it above average? Yes! Add in the security of iOS and you've got a great little daily driver. It was snappy, had good battery life and was all around a great value unless you're someone who wants a $500 tablet for $100. It is a great value and I recommend everyone to consider this over Android devices as many low end Android Tablets are more susceptible to being exploited or hacked so your trust with them can only go so far which is why I say if you buy Android then spend a lot of money or limit your use. Apple tends to get it right with tablets unless you have a defective unit like I did.

IPad is great; operating system has a bug

The IPad is great. However, a word of caution. When setting it up, it suggests bringing another I-device near it to transfer information. I did this. DO NOT DO THIS. Instead, set it up manually. There is apparently a bug in the software that allows it to use random email addresses that are not your ITunes account. I finally googled it and tons of people have had this problem. The solution is to delete all apps, update the operating system, and then re-install the apps and it will let you log into your own ITunes account. I am warning you because I ended up on the phone with Apple Support for over 4 hours and the service rep told me that it wasn't really happening, that I was lying to him, and then he hung up on me. I googled the solution and now have the IPad working fine. I just re-downloaded the apps once I was in my own account.

I've never been a Apple fan but I jumped out there when they release a budget friendly iPad. I’ve have everything Samsung and my only gripe about Apple is expandable memory. I take a lot of photos of my family and I have to pick what folders to sync with iTunes. I have the Tabs 4 and put a 256 gb memory card in it plug it up to any computer and place any file I want. Apple you need iTunes for everything I place my sd card in my Tab S4 and still came out cheaper than the new iPad Pro. With Apple they want you to buy storage, come on Apple other than that I love the tablet for simple things like checking email, browse the web, YouTube. Things like that but for media consumption like photos, music, videos My Tab S4 all day. Keep in mind you shoot 4k or any video in HD you will eat up the memory quick. Shoot any photos with a high res solution you memory will be gone really really quick.

The current generation Ipad is nice. Easy to use and fast. It is lightweight and durable. I bought the warranty but what Best Buy fails to tell you is they don't service them. You have to go to an Apple store to get it fixed. If you have experienced an Apple store, the wait is worse than a Doctor's office. We signed in for an appointment and had to wait 4 hours before actually getting to the genius bar for service. I will buy direct from Apple next time as Best Buy is not very forthcoming with what they service versus what they sell. Overall happy with the iPad, just not a fan of Best Buy and their policies.

I almost bought the Pro model which has apple keyboard connectivity but upon further consideration decided on this one. Best Buy had a great Black Friday price. I take it to construction job sites and couldn't justify the additional money for the pro model. The screen is good and it works with the old style Apple Pencil which is what I needed. A little heavy and not as fast as the pro but a good choice for me and probably for most people who don't need the advanced features of the Pro model. I strongly recommend getting the 128GB model.

I'm new to iPads so keep that in mind... the unit seems solid and well built. It has the latest technology (scanning for thumb prints, etc., to get into it. The screen is clear and turn-on from sleep mode is quick. Turn-on from cold start takes about 10 seconds or so. Good, solid connection to my home network. Menu's are logical. There is no paper manual, nor is there one on line, so if you are a newbie to these things (like 'moi') you might need some assistance (my granddaughter) to point things out to you. Well worth the cost.

I had been against buying the iPad solely because I did not see any purpose since I already have the iPhone , but I finally gave in & bought one because I was tired of my super slow computer (not an apple product) , and I also purchased it so my child can watch it especially when we are if we are not st home. I love that I don’t have to transfer pictures now through a USB cable , and it’s just there on my iPad. The only thing though so far, is the battery , it does not last very long off the charger. Other than that, great.

The iPad 2018 model is a great tablet for the average user. If you do not need all the productivity/creative stuff (i.e. iPad Pro) this is the model to go for. I use it for Netflix/books/Hulu/email/web surf and it works great. Sure its not 1080p/4K and gorgeous like the new iPad Pros but it gets the job done and the price is right. The holiday pricing on these is so low and the specs are great compared to some of the older iPad Pros. If you are not a power user and do not need the latest and the greatest this is the model to go for!

I replaced my generation 3 IPad because I could no longer update a few games because the operating system was outdated. I opted for the new 6th generation 2018 IPad and I am glad that I bought it. I added a Logitech keyboard because I do not care for on tablet typing. The IPad does everything I need it to do with ease and I look to have it for a while. One mild critique is the glare from the glass but I suppose I could get a plastic shield to decrease the glare. All in all it is a very good tablet and I recommend this 2018 IPad.

I was always an Android tablet person but lately I’ve been switching to Apple. I prefer the interface, and the long lasting battery. I also like that there are never issues with any apps that you download. I give it 4 out of 5 stars. I decided I didn’t need the iPad Pro and for $400 this gives me everything I need. I knocked off one star only because the speakers aren’t great. That’s one thing I liked about the pro but didn’t want to spend an extra $300 just for better speakers. If I need louder crisper audio I can always use headphones or a Bluetooth speaker but it’s an inconvenience.

Now that the iPad has pencil support and has been reduced by $80. It doesn't feel like you're over paying for hardware that has limited uses, this product would be great if you could run a full version of Mojave. As a student in the creative field the ability to use features of the adobe line of products to create assets i.e. vector graphics or wire frame layouts for web development has greatly increased my productivity. Writing on this device feels just like pen or pencil to paper. No other device really compares.

I needed to replace a 2nd gen Ipad. Bestbuy had the best black friday deal on this ipad. Cannot tell too much difference from my previous ipad in function since I only use it for web searches, email & streamimg movies. It is slimmer & lighter, which is very nice. One complaint I have is with the charger. That tiny little connector is sometimes hard to grab & pull off when done charging. I'll probably be a loyal customer of the ipad as long as I don't have to pay the retail price.

Apple's iPad is a great tool but sometimes I wonder about these IOS updates that make some tasks super difficult. One of my prime uses for an iPad is consumer marketing. Think about a trade show and having an iPad available for someone to learn more about your business. I found it extremely non-intuitive and difficult to get simple home-created videos onto the iPad for use. It really shouldn't be that difficult. For those familiar with Apple products, the iPad functions like other devices including iPhones and MacBooks.

I recently purchased the new generation of IPAD to replace a still working, but memory challenged IPAD 4 with retina display. While both are the 9.7" screen size, the new model is significantly smaller and lighter, with a much narrower bezel around the viewing screen. Speed seems slightly better, and increased storage of 128GB compared to the 16GB of my old IPAD is the most important factor. Haven't bought an Apple pencil yet, but will probably do so in the near future.

The new iPad is great tablet for those that want just that: a tablet. It's shorn of the power and performance of the iPad Pro range, but the addition of Apple Pencil compatibility and the A10 chipset bring it pretty close, and for a lot less cash. It irks that you need to buy the Pencil separately to unlock a key feature, and design-wise we're seeing something pretty old-school here… but for the price it's hard to criticize too much, and this is still the best tablet on the market.

This is such a good product for anyone new or an experienced apple user. Setup was easy and connection was a breeze. The speed of the processor is that would compare to a computer and when paired with a wireless keyboard it's almost as good as a laptop. The only downfall I would say is that the screen can be a bit unresponsive at times but I would say 9/10 it has zero issues. This newer device supports the apple pencil as well so its the perfect tool for any student or artist on the go. Great for business or for pleasure.

I had to get a new tablet due to the fact that I accidentally broke the screen on my old ipad for the second time. Wasn't worth replacing again so I went looking for something new. I'm used to Apple tablets so I just wanted to get another one. It's a little narrower than the old generations but that's not a big deal. Just hate having to reconfigure my email accounts etc. to get them to show on it, other than that it's great!
