Excellent tablet with a stunning display

    Posted .

I want to start by addressing some of the things that I have read in other reviews. There are plenty of apps in the Apple store and generally the quality and visuals of apps on iOS are much better than the Android counterparts. I have played several games on this device and they look absolutely stunning on the retina display! Some games that I enjoy in particular are NBA2K14,Real Racing 3,FIFA 14,Infinity Blade III and Need for Speed Most Wanted. Now I have also played these games on the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 10.1 2014 Edition and they looked great on that device but to me they looked slightly better on the retina display. On a side note when you have a smaller display with the same resolution as a larger display the smaller one will look better because the pixel density is higher(more pixels per inch). As far as price this device is worth every penny. While this device is generally priced higher than its Android counterparts the two devices are different and they each do things well in their own rights! A few people complain that Apple does not allow skinning of the UI or widgets! IOS does not need that Apple designed a beautiful clean UI out the box it's design is not cluttered and it runs smooth ! I have not experienced any lag when multi tasking or gaming on this device! I would kind of compare IOS UI to the pure Android experience that Google provides on the Nexus 7! Widgets and skins also cause lag and slows the device down. This is why I am not a fan of the custom UI's that many manufacturer's layer on top of the Android interface in their devices. Now with that being said back to my review. The iPad Mini actually has two speakers located on the bottom of the device not one! There is one speaker on each side of the lightning connector! These speakers actually has good quality for being on a small device. No they do not sound like a home theater system with Dolby Surround Sound but they work well with the form factor of this device! The retina display is a welcome addition to this device and is a very nice step of from the original iPad Mini! The visual and graphic quality of games, videos and photos are absolutely stunning! The processor is very fast and despite having 1GB of RAM this device is very responsive and performs very well. Overall I am very happy with the iPad Mini with Retina Display and would recommend this to anyone whose budget would allow them to afford this device! I also recommend the OtterBox Defender case for this device to ensure your investment is fully protected!

    My third Apple Product

Having both a Mac Book Air and an IPhone I went for the trifecta and recently purchased a mini IPad wireless with 32 gig. I stress this last point because if you are viewing or downloading movies minimum would be 32 but I now wish I had done 64. That being said the mini is a great traveler that you can easily store, good battery life and a nice clear crisp display. Doing productive work or for plain entertainment the Apple Mini IPad is a terrific investment.

    Exelent tablet, easy to use.

I bought this tablet for my wife and she loves it. Its big enough so she can use it to browse the web, but small enough to fit in her purse. She found it easy to use from the start. The only problem that she found with it was some of the apps that she downloaded didn't work as good or as fast as she wanted them to work. But she is happy with it and I am happy with the purchase. I will probably get one for my self, probably an ipad air.

    Perfect Device for a Toddler

    Posted .

I got this tablet for my 2 year old daughter and it's perfect for her. The size, speed, simplicity of the Apple OS are right on par. Only disappointment is the capacity. I got the 32GB version but I'm always getting the "almost full" alerts. Between all her kids apps, a few movies and the space of the OS, there's nothing left over. We are expecting our second child soon so I'll use this tablet for him and get my daughter the 10" tablet.

    Good iPad but Age shows

All I can really say about it is that it's an iPad. It goes on the internet well, it runs apps well, the screen looks nice, can't really complain, I purchased this as a gift for my grandmother who loves to stream music as a replacement for her old iPod nano that did not stream. For the price it was a way better upgrade than an iPad touch and has twice the screen size. However I will say that there is a huge speed difference between the mini 2 and the new Pro models or even the mini 4. I have a 12.9 and 9.7 Pro and my girlfriend owns a mini 4 and they all are much faster when flipping around apps and the home screen, I almost totally suggest if not going for a pro at least go for the mini 4 instead if you want something that will last a few years and won't get slow and outdated. For my grandmother that only plays music and web searches the mini 2 might be fine but if you are looking for a fast powerful device this is not the right iPad for you, not to mention the screen and speakers are more powerful and brighter on the newer model's.

    Love my mini

I just bought my mini and LOVE IT yay. but have a complaint about a store, less than a week after my in store purchase I was notified by the bestbuy app there was a limited time offer for $50.00 off the orig purchase price of $269.99. That would be $219.99 YAY, totally excited I called the store in Bend Oregon and asked if they could credit me the difference. The manager said they could not price match because it was offered through the app only, but I could return the device back to the store and wait to have the credit apply back to my bestbuy credit card then purchase the device from the bestbuy app and have it sent to the store for pick up! WHAT? I just had surgery and Running around for a credit price match what an inconvenience. After researching on the bestbuy website about price match they do honor the price match in app and online so I called the main 800 number and talked with a wonderful lady after explaining the matter she took care of it right then no questions or defeated worries! Love you bestbuy corp! Bend Store You need to start taken care of you customers for REAL! I will be shopping less with you because you don't seem to care about me!

Great hardware partly hindered by iOS limitations

    |
    Posted .

I bought the iPad mini 2 after my old 7 inch android tablet's battery failed. My wife has an iPad air and I have a MacBook pro so I knew that the apple hardware would be very good. And it is - excellent battery life, great screen resolution, very quick wifi connection, light weight yet solidly built. The wake/sleep function with the addition of a magnetic cover is also nice. But, coming from an android device where I could easily dump files from my computer onto a micro sd or download files (like books or PDFs) directly from the Internet and then sort, organize, and use them as I want on my tablet, the iOS need to sync with iTunes on my computer has been a bit inconvenient. Had I fully understood that going in, I may have decided to stick with an android tablet instead . Also there are a few apps that I really liked using on my old android tablet that don't seem to have any equivalent on the apple App Store. Nevertheless, I'm very happy with my new iPad mini 2, it just requires an adjustment to the way that I'm used to using my tablet.

    I am in Love...

I bought an iPad mini because I needed something for payment processing that was bigger than an iPhone. I have a 4 year old regular sized iPad that was acting skittish and needed something more reliable. I am SO glad I chose the mini 32 GB. I am in love with it. I put the apps I wanted and can do pretty much anything I want on it. I no longer have to lug my laptop from the downstairs office to the home levels. I carry it around with me from room to room. And when I'm not somewhere with wifi, I use my phone as a hotspot and viola! I'm on the internet. I LOVE the size. It's lighter than the regular size iPad but big enough to be able to type and text comfortably (as opposed to the iPhone.) I would recommend this iPad for anyone who doesn't want a giant sized phone, or carry a big tablet around with them.

32gb is better than the 16gb if your wanting to purchase and store movies on the iPad. We had the 16gb and were only able to fit a few HD movies on it. Now that we have the 32gb it definitely was a better choice for space.

The iPad Mini is the perfect size

    Posted .

I have been using an iPad 2 that my school district provided teachers and students in limited quantities for about 2 years now. During that time I purchased an iPad 3rd generation for my wife. I prefer a smaller device and was happy to see the Mini hit store shelves last year, but wanted the crisper display so I waited. I am vey glad I did. I have been using Apple products for several years now - iPods, iPhones, and now iPads - and have built up a fairly large iTunes collection of apps, music and videos, so going with the iPad Mini was an easy choice for me. I purchased the 32 GB version to ensure I would have additional storage for videos to watch during trips. I am still learning how to use the productivity apps that interface with Microsoft Office and incorporating the Mini more into what I do with students. The user interface on the Mini is easy to use and navigate and there is plenty of screen real estate for reading books and e-mails easily. The only drawback for some might be the price, but for me the ease of use and the ability to access and use my iTunes library compensates for that.

Would be 5 stars but for one thing...

    Posted .

There are a zillion reviews and all kinds of articles on the tech, tips, etc of these...I am simply going to do a 'consumer' review: I bought 2 of these (Ipad Mini2 32gb) as gifts for my wife and my college age daughter and although their uses differ, the Mini 2's really do meet both of their needs famously. I initially was looking for Kindles that could browse and had a camera (to be able to do pics, vids & skype) this meant HDX's. It was a short consideration when I realized the Mini2 is LESS money for a far more advanced all around tablet. It was a no-brainer, even before I added in all the seamless Iphone integration capabilities and conveniences. Setup and such was a breeze and they were both up n running in no time, with no assistance required from me or anyone else. After nearly 2 months of daily use they both still love their Mini's with no notable wants or complaints. Now...my one consumer gripe (and recommendation): I object to the fact that you basically HAVE to upgrade to the 32gb model as due to the OS size/requirements the base model 16gb essentially leaves zero room for normal use. Every expert warns so, and after looking through our Mini's, they are right-you would be seriously handcuffed right from the start with only 16gb. The 32gb is still a no-brainer over the Kindles, but I really do object to Apple offering an entry model Ipad Mini that is essentially 'at limit' before you even open the cellophane! EVERYBODY buying these will want some music, pictures, videos, etc and a new device should really afford such normal use. Bottom line: Great tablet, but most def take a serious look at the 32gb. The extra $40 or so could save you a bunch!

    Best iPad to carry around

    |
    Posted .

I got the iPad mini 2 for my girlfriend (30th birthday) and she loves it. We both have older generation iPads and she wanted one that was smaller, she could carry around, and had the retina display. The iPad mini 2 perfectly met her needs and it has a great feel with it's slim design and weight. I found no reason to get her the iPad 3 as the only difference was the touch ID and she didn't really care for it. So if you want an iPad but want to carry around with you often, I would highly recommend it.

    Goodbye little buddy...

I was gifted an IPad mini a couple of years ago and it finally "bit the proverbial dust" through no fault of workmanship. It had a good life of adventure and excitement but finally met its broken and salty demise off the coast of South Florida. Although the day was marred with the tragic loss of the Ipad due to abrupt physical force, (accidently stepped on it in a way that bent the IPad to a near perfect 90 degree angle and spontaneously slid to the back of the boat and into a saltwater live well) I must assert that the tragedy occurred during a fishing adventure and fishing adventures always trump the loss of any personal belongings because basically... It's fishing.. I can only hope that this new IPad Mini can meet with the same fate because when it was all said and done, it was one of the best days of fishing I'd had in a long time. Great product functionality and features. Awesome price and I promise I’ll be careful this time.
