Great iPad for the right type of person

Okay, I have had my iPad for three months now and I thought it was the right time to publish an extensive review. I am a student. It is my first year of college. I purchased the iPad because I wanted an Apple product, cheap, battery life, and weight. I am sorry to say I am very disappointed in my purchase. Do not get me wrong, I love apple, and the iPad is a great device, just not for me. I suggest weighing your options very very clearly before deciding. I purchased the iPad to help me through school, it does that if only it had flash player. Most of my classes are now taught online and they all require flash. I was originally was going to purchase the mini to save money, and also because it would be easier to take to class. I am SO glad I didn't because I personally find the iPad 4's screen to be small. There is no where to save your files. Example- If my teacher puts powerpoints online I cannot save them. The camera does not have a flash. Okay, I admit that is not a necessity for school but it would be great to have. The iPad looses value EXTREMELY quickly. I will be trying to save up for a MacBook Pro to replace my iPad. Now on to the pros. It is very light and has EXCELLENT battery life. It's a giant iPhone, I love my iPhone so everything I do on my iPhone I can do on my iPad and spare my eyes. Bottom line, the iPad is an excellent product for someone line my parents, or a frequent traveler. If I had a laptop, I would definitely purchase the iPad, but as a product alone it is not worth it.

I think apple is overrated and over priced. The only reason I selected an ipad this time is because it is on sale online for thanksgiving, and it has my native language for the interface. I have andriod tabs, phones from samsung, and for apple I have itouch, iphones ... therefore I am very familiar with IOS and andriod. IOS is very limited. Andriod has so much more functions than IOS. There is more freedom w/ Andriod. Apple IOS is very controling. Everything has to go thru apple. With andriod you can download apps outside of the andriod market, but w/ apple there is only apple. IOS is SUPER LIMITED. There is no NFC. All those high tech functions/features that andriod has, Apple does not have. Compare to Samsung NOTE tablet.... apple really need to improve for this high price product. Moreover the ram is only 1GB and Samsung note tab has 2GB.

My daughter wanted this for her birthday so we got it for her. I went to best buy to shop for it and as I was learning about it, it seemed not so exciting. Either a laptop or a smart phone has more features and would be more useful than this hybrid, I thought to myself, but I bought it anyway because my darling girl wanted it. Three weeks later, and I give her credit for her frankness, my daughter said she wasn't really getting a lot from the device and asked if we could exchange it for a laptop, which we did, and best buy was very helpful in the exchange. We got a touch-screen laptop so she didn't have to sacrifice anything in the exchange and she is very happy with the result.

Maybe I am biased towards Android but for the price I don't feel as if you are getting what you should. I think that you can get all of the features that the iPad offers plus many more for less cost if you go with Android. It is not a bad product and my kids love it but it is just not what it should be for the price. Apple needs to stop being so proprietary and get on board with the rest of the world. (one glaring example would be their proprietary chargers when the rest of the world seems to be moving towards universal chargers).

The ipad with Retina display is very pretty and the battery life is great. But it is a little too walled off for my taste. It has no compatibility with programs outside the Apple App store and it can be very difficult and annoying trying to get files on and off of it. The lack of a micro-sd card slot and the ludicrous price increases for modest increases in flash memory make this a so-so value in my opinion. I think I'll look to an Android tablet like the Asus T700 for my next tablet as it plays a lot better with other company's products than the ipad does.

Costs way to much for what you get

Apple doesn't allow the user to change the battery and it costs over $100.00 to have it replaced and you have to purchase the memory with the device $100.00 per increase, if you were able to purchase it and install it separately it would save you several hundred $$$. It doesn't allow you to delete apple apps or take them off the home screen, doesn't come with some basic apps, you have to purchase to use. It's less flexible as to how you can set it up than other brands.

I have android phone, and tF700 was very easy to understand and use. After I got the iPad4, I am learning to use a new OS. A lot of areas are not intuitive, and difficult to use and maybe because I am not a manager but a programmer. I spent a week still trying to understand what's good about the apps, and the flow of the iPad functions. The bottom line, I think I will stick to the Android.

I know I will really like it once I know how to use it. Problem is store employee could not answer my ? when I went in, so I left frustrated (I am a SENIOR) as I was leaving for Germany...and still have not been able to get the info I need. It is hard to call you from here, so I have used it maybe 2 hrs.....and it is just sitting there. I wish there were written instructions instead of calling. Right now I am not getting my moneys worth.

Purchased this pad on a monday , got it home , charged , started trying to find my favorite apps. Most of the apps I had on a previous pad (not apple) , were free to use (with ads) , but on ipad they were all at least $3 bucks and up ! I may have had a 1 in a 1000 glitchy pad , the screen was not very responsive and seemed to hang up on some apps. Personally was not impressed , returned .

my iPad worked as advertised, I just don't like having to constantly be cleaning a touch screen. The small screen caused the web pages I go to to be shrunk leaving out some things I missed. I ended up returning the iPad and getting a MacBook Pro, so, I don't have to be constantly cleaning the screen and I get my full web pages. It's just personal preference, the iPad is awesome for those wanting the touch screen tablet.

We are an apple family- iMac, MacBook, iPod and iPhone...new to iPad. Got 2 of them as presents for both my kids, per their request for Christmas. Very simple to use, impressive graphics and great to use in a pinch, checking email and browsing the internet. I find myself preferring our MacBook, however, as your limited to what apps are available. The iPad seems to be used more when we go out of town.

Great product but after buying it decided it was not the right choice for me. Needed to replace my laptop that died and thought I could get by with this but just didn't fit my needs. Returned it for a Lenovo Ideapad and love the Ideapad. Just had more of the features I needed. If I would still have had a laptop I would definitely have kept the Ipad.

I am disappointed that I cannot get Flash Player on my IPad. There are some videos I cannot watch and I cannot personalize an ecard to print it. I also have times where I am on the Internet and all of a sudden the window closes to send me back to my icons. Other than that I have been getting a lot of enjoyment out of it.

Bought it for an employee that thought he needed a tablet and wanted the Mac. Don't particularly find it any more useful than non Mac tablets. It does have a nice look and feel and the display is very nice. Not sure all that makes it worth a couple hundred bucks more than a Samsung. For about the same money and if it were for myself I would have bought the Surface.

I've been using android devices for the last 4 years (early adopter). Maybe I'm too used to android that I don't find the iPad as useful. The hardware specs are sweet (fast processor, nice graphics, plenty of memory), but there are not many apps that I find useful for working (I'm a computational scientist). As a leisure device it's perfect.

It is a good product, however, the volume could use a boost. I am disappointed with the apps....most of them are not free and I am having a hard time finding anything useful that actually works. Had I known, I probably would have gone back to an android product. I still have my Samsung and use it when I need a great app.

I really enjoy the iPad. However, I am training my staff to use them in our company and the less computer savvy personnel are challenged with this device as compared to a laptop. However, it is great for my field managers for it's versatility and ease in taking out to jobsites.

I was very disappointed and a little embarrassed that the product only lasted two days before it had to be repaired. Apple would not stand behind the product and charged full price for a new screen on a product that was only two days old. I had thought about buying myself an iPad, but have since changed my mind.

The only thing that I'm not really thrilled about is the fact that I know my IPad can do so much more, but I haven't been able to figure out WHAT it can do besides be a bigger, glorified Kindle Fire. I like being able to keep it handy wherever I am, but my pictures on it are very grainy.

I bought this tablet to record videos for a class I was taking and kept buying icloud storage thinking that would give me more space. I should have bought a larger ipad instead although at the time of purchase, I did not realize I would need the larger size. Go big at purchase time!
