Open-Box case for IPhone 11

It is not the case I went to Best Buy to purchase because the clear Otter Box that I want and found in the store was not in their system. It was the only one like it. They looked it up online and gave me a price that was way too much. They said it must have been returned, so why was the price still at $50? I would rather have an Otter Box protecting my phone but like the sales clerk at Apple said, “Apple makes their cases to protect!”
