Found out what I was missing!

To be perfectly honest, I didn't know if I'd be able to use the iPhone. After being an android user for the past 6 years, I was so accustomed to android that I thought I would be sacrificing usability by switching to iOS. Well let me tell you, folks, after an hour with the iPhone 5S, I have completely forgotten about android and their fragmented line up. The iPhone 5S is everything that a smartphone should be and then some. The hardware on the iPhone is simply stunning. The metal is beautifully crafted and feels solid. Unfortunately, it's so beautiful and uses such high quality materials that I feel guilty carrying the phone around without a case. I immediately put on a screen protector and a Spigen neo hybrid case (not a sponsor). What's great about the iPhone is that even with a case, the phone is compact and easy to handle. It's still significantly smaller with a case than any android phone out there. The screen quality is absolutely fantastic. Don't listen to those that make the resolution argument. I found that resolution is not everything. In fact, the colors, saturation, and viewing angles of the iPhone make the screen far superior to the Galaxy S4 (the phone I'm replacing). In fact, just about everything, in terms of hardware, is better on the 5S than the Galaxy S4. The call quality is superior, the data connection is better, the camera is faster and has less blur, the speakers are clearer, connection to wifi and bluetooth is faster. The battery life is incredible. The last time I charged it, I pulled it off at 60% before going to bed. After 5 hours of sleep, I wake up and it's still at 60%. Wow. My Galaxy S4 would have dropped at least 10% in those 5 hours. iOS is truly an optimized phone experience. The reason I decided to jump from the android ship was because I became tired of waiting for an optimized phone OS. Currently, I'd say that there is no android phone (aside from the Moto X) that has a pleasant user experience out of the box. Now before anyone starts arguing and complaining, let me explain why I believe this to be true. Lets say you get a Galaxy S4, the first thing most people do is disable bloatware (already a waste of time), then download their most used apps, and then start wasting hours upon hours customizing their home screens. In my opinion, smartphones should not be about customizing home screens. Apps are what truly make or break an experience and I think that iOS app quality is uncontested when compared to android. Sure android is more customizable, but do you really want to spend time rearranging icons, looking for widgets, etc, or would you rather be using your phone for what it was designed to do such as access the web, read news, watch videos, use apps, and so forth. Android does all of this as well, but not nearly as efficiently as the iPhone does. Apps are faster, smoother, and more optimized on iOS than on android. Also, for a student such as myself, iOS offers far more quality educational apps than android which is a big plus in my book. Lastly, I'd like to say that although iPhone home screens are not customizable, the settings menu has far more tweaks and adjustments than any android phone out of the box. Another great aspect of the iPhone is the syncing capabilities with iTunes. I haven't had too much time to play around with it but for the time I did, it's very intuitive and a much easier way to explore apps and content than the Play Store. I'd definitely recommend getting an this new iPhone. Whether you're coming from and iPhone or have been an android user since the start as I have, now has never been a better time to switch to the iPhone.

My two year old flip phone was having problems on a daily basis: wouldn't ring, would turn off, would die. I knew I needed a phone soon. BestBuy was running a special the week I got it, giving $50 gift card to upgrade to a smartphone and they price matched Target's sale price so I decided I might as well get it. I really was reluctant to get a smartphone because I am hard on my phones. I also doubted I would use its features. I am very pleased with my decision. It has excellent voice recognition and call quality. For a first smartphone, it was very easy to adjust to and really was no big deal to switch over. The size is reasonable. I wanted something I could keep in my pocket rather than clip on a belt. Adding reminders, alarms, and appointments to the calendar helps keep me organized. I worried about battery life as my flip phone would die before the end of the work day all the time even when it was new. No battery issues whatsoever. I got the Resurgence Power Case by Otterbox. It gives you 2x more battery, is slim and very clean looking. I have not had to use it at all, but like having it just in case. I put the Zagg Glass on the front (because I break most any glass part on a phone) and have not had any problem with keys and change in my pocket scratching it or breaking it. So far so good. I am very satisfied and glad I finally made the switch. Wish I had done it long ago.

This was my first iPhone and my first LTE phone. Previously I had an iPod 5 that I used to text people who had iPhones through iMessage. When I got this phone I realized how convenient the finger print scanner was and when I went back on my iPod to play some music I forgot for a second what my password was! The 64 bit processor is a huge upgrade from any phone and everything is FAST. Unlike android phones, apple phones scroll like butter and apps open quickly. The camera is quite amazing and the slow mo and burst mode are very fun features. I enjoy this phone and recommend it. Also if you don't want a case that makes it feel chunky get the apple leather case. it keeps the prestigious feel of the iPhone while still protecting it. Overall great product. You should get it.

The iPhone is definitely not an Android, so don't expect it to be. That being said it is a great phone. The picture quality is great and runs so smoothly; No lagging or anything and apps open FAST. The fingerprint scanner works without incident and comes in helpful when downloading apps so you don't have to put in your password everytime. I unplugged my phone at 9:30am and lasted until I went to bed around 11 or 12 with regular use. I once charged and unplugged it before bed and it lasted until the next night; Overnight it used about 3%. Its not up to the standards of a Droid Maxx but, I would say its definitely better then most phones. If you like Apple and are not expecting a droid phone or new to smartphones this phone will not disappoint you!

I've always had a Droid and I've tried the (horrible) Windows Phone as well, but my contract was up and the iPhone 5s was coming out, so i thought I'd go ahead an switch over to the iPhone and boy am I glad I did! The call clarity is great. There a zillion and one apps available. Having iTunes right on the phone is very convenient too. The camera is easy and impressive with great low light pictures and you can see a difference with the dual flash. Best of all, the iPhone is just simple and easy to use. I had no problems adjusting from Droid or Windows Phone and I actually quite prefer the simple, clean layout of the iPhone. I got it the day it came out... but I went after work and didn't have to wait in one of those ridiculous lines, lol. I just walked in and was like, Hi, I'd like the iPhone 5s in silver on Verizon and i was getting all set up moments later! I can't see myself going back to a Droid and I'm sure I'll be getting whichever iPhone model comes out in 2 years.

I was an avid Android user. I felt that Apple products were far too over rated and unnecessarily overpriced. I got my kids Apple iPods last year and as I was setting them up, fell in love with the iOS. I decided to give the iPhone a try and was blown away! I love the stability of the system, the reliability of the hardware, the size, the screen clarity, camera quality and look and feel of the phone. I tried going back to an android one more time before going to the iPhone 5s, and my love for the iPhone was confirmed and even more deeply rooted. So many of my suspicions about the App Store were squashed (like ALL Apps cost $ in the App Store that are free in the Android Market (Google Play Store) which isn't true at all. In fact if it's free on Android, it's free on Apple). The ONLY downfall to Apple is not being able to expand the memory, but if you backup your photos and videos and remove the ones you don't need from the phone, you can keep your memory flowing well. Bottom line, it's worth every penny. Love this phone!

Had a i4s prior to this i5s and it was a good phone. This i5s is a great phone!!! Faster processor, a bit larger screen and the battery is fabulous! I keep most programs closed out rather than leaving them running, but I did the same with my 4s and this battery seems to last quite a bit longer. Granted it is still new, but nevertheless it does a great job. For me, it's the perfect size phone, fits my med. large hands exactly as it should. I use my phone mostly as a communication device, (phone, text, email) and not as much for web surfing or gaming, I have a iMac for that. None of the competitors really appealed to me as I am very comfortable with and like Apple's OS and don't think anyone has done anything any better, they're just different and I still think Apple owns the term "user friendly"! This phone is for me, the right size, fast, has the features I need and has a outstanding display and resides in a Otterbox Defender which IMHO, is the perfect set up to carry around in order to stay in touch!

Took advantage of great promotion by Best Buy to get the iPhone 5S (admittedly at tail end of "Apple Life-before-next-release") at next to nothing with $150 gift card. The phone itself is quite good, with many improvements over my previous phone (4S) - fingerprint security, graphics, built-in apps, operating system, etc. My problem was the process was not a smooth one. Ordered on-line for in store pickup (NYC) since I was going to be in the city for the day. I did back up the data via iTunes, but was not confident, and was told the store had the hardware and software to transfer the data between phones. On pick-up, I was told that they could not honor the gift card with on-line orders, but that the order had to be cancelled and re-ordered in store. It involved a re-do of quite a bit of paperwork on my part, but the rep was very helpful and courteous. Then I was told they did not have the transfer hardware so I quickly copied down important contacts and notes. As it turned out, iTunes did do everything for me in the backup and I was relieved. Still a good transaction....

I had gotten the iPhone 5 when it first came out and a few months later I decided I wanted to try something new. So, I switched to the Galaxy S3 and it was ok at first but man oh man, I only had that phone for about 7-8 months and could not take it anymore. Android is the worst operating system EVER!! I couldn't WAIT to get back to my beloved iPhone! So, I got the iPhone 5S when it came out. I absolutely love the fingerprint scanner feature. I was a bit skeptical about it at first as I wondered how well it would actually work. It really does work great, I love it! The camera takes awesome pictures. The sound is nice and loud. The battery life does seem to be better than previous iPhone models. And I've got to say, it is pretty fast. It's good to have the iPhone back and will never stray from it again!! I recommend this phone 100%... I talked my mom into getting the iPhone about a year ago and she also says she will never get rid of her iPhone.

I had the iPhone 4S and upgraded to the 5S during the trade-in special, and because the 4S wasn't really up to par with the new iOS or the newer Apps. The fingerprint sensor is great. I spend a lot of time on the road, so the fingerprint sensor is great for returning to navigation and music versus needing to put in a security code. For itunes, the sensor is very convenient, as passwords nowadays require capital letters, numbers, etc, and it's just.. nice not to have to switch between each different type. The phone is noticeably faster than my 4S for all of the apps that I use, both work and recreational, and the photo quality is amazing (however, with my case on it, can become kind of cloudy, the phone camera itself is fantastic though). Call quality is still pretty so-so with analog calls, however, facetime is crystal clear. Lots of cool features like slow-mo camera. And of course, Siri comes with it. For those of us who do use Siri, it actually seems to recognize faster than the old 4S.

A recent android customer with the Samsung Galaxy 1-3 and their constant repetitive blunders of non-stop failures led me to finally give the iPhone a chance and the mesmerizing design of the 5s made the switch more appealing. I was reluctant at first due to the feature "Swype" I'm accustomed to using with androids but I find myself texting more accurately and faster than ever. Also, my previous androids would constantly reset and freeze in between apps. With my new iPhone, it is as fluid in between transitions and running multiple apps simultaneously. One more exceptional pro of owning this phone is the duration of the battery. I am always in this phone with the brightness all the way up and my battery lasts 12+ hours and then it only takes approximately an hour to fully charge. Best phone I have ever operated. Would highly recommend to anyone seeking a new reliable and fun phone.

Tax rate and upgrade fee were the downside to this purchase. I have to pay tax on the retail price of phone I bought at replacement price? Why? I didn't pay $600! I renewed my contract and got that price plus sale price. Then I got activation fee on my bill from verizon? Really? I had data transferred ( contacts, photos etc.) , however, I found my older itunes didn't sync with the phone and I can't upgrade on my older mac. so I couldn't transfer my apps easily or my iphone music. Learning curve, though and I went to one class at verizon store which helped with some annoying issues here and hope to go to next class to make sure I am up to date on tips and tricks. Also, have to say , I love the otter commuter case. So much lighter than the otterbox which I find too bulky for my hand. Also loving the screen protector.

    Perfect upgrade from iphone4

After having an iPhone 4 ( which was great until the ios7 update bogged it down so much it was barely usable) , I was sure I loved the apple concept but was unsure about how they upgrade and intruduce new products . So I decided a galaxy s5 was the perfect " no more apple" phone for me , except I quickly realized it wasn't. After for a few months I realized that the iPhone 5s was actually the perfect phone (well, almost) . First off the galaxy is just too big , I'm in the construction trades and just having such a massive phone in my pocket it's bound to get crushed quick . Second, the bloatware, and there's a lot of it . Why spend that much on a phone with so much space already dedicated to junk! After deciding on the iPhone (2 mo ago )I quickly realized my decision was the right one. It's the perfect size, speed , and I think it likes me too.....

This is simply the best phone out there. It just plain works. Apple apps tend to work better than Android apps because developers have to pay for the source code to develop for iOS unlike Android and there aren't many differences between iPhones, unlike Android phones. This makes everything more uniform and less potential issues/conflicts with apps working on your phone. For example, many Android phones can only upgrade their version of the OS but so far, which can create issues when running apps. All iPhones can update to the latest OS. Why is this important? Because any smartphone can call, take pictures, text, email, ect. It's the downloadable apps that make the phone stand out. This is the newest and most powerful iPhone, thus the best phone on Earth at this point in time.

Love, love, love this phone!! The battery life is better on this model as long as you aren't running too many apps in the background.. The fingerprint identity is great and convenient and has added security features. The speed is better so the pages load quicker and downloads are much more quick. Calls are clear and sound/volume is great!! The camera on this model is much better… I can't tell much difference between the high definition and regular photos but the photos are crisp clear and beautifully colored!! The voice to text is not as good in my opinion, there are more errors with this model than with the iPhone 4 S. You really have to go back and read before hitting send. Over all that I need this phone is great and I love having others with the Apple products it makes communication faster and easier

I recently just picked up the iPhone 5s in Gold and I have to say, I'm impressed. My first iPhone was a 4, and then I got the Samsung Galaxy S4. When first picked up the 5s, I immediately noticed the great build quality. Compared to the Galaxy S4, the iPhone feels like a much higher-end phone. Everything seamlessly fits together in one unit. iOS 7 is a much better user interface than Samsung's Touchwiz or even stock Android JellyBean. The camera is great in almost every situation, and you can even somewhat edit your photos on the free apple designed "iPhoto" app. Over all, this phone is a great choice from first-time smartphone buyers to experienced technicians.

I have a 32GB and my wife has a 16GB model. Both are amazing phones; fast, responsive, and powerful. I can't say enough good things about them; from the clear screen to the quality of the headphone audio, from the lightning port (best connector on anything of all time if you ask me) to the capabilities of the phone, there's no reason to get any other iPhone (unless you want the plastic-bodied 5c instead). The only downside to the 16GB model is that you're stuck to 16GB of storage, total. Spend a little more and get the 32GB model instead. It's worth it. Also, make sure that you get a case for it; while the phone isn't as delicate as the 4 and 4s, it's not going to be as durable as something like a Galaxy S5 Active or a G'Zone Ravine.

This phone is a lot better than the iphone 4. I would recommend anyone upgrade to the iphone 5s as soon as they are available. The quality of the phone is better than the 4. Pictures taken by the iphone 4 are a good quality but the ones by the iphone 5 are outstanding. The colors look like they are brighter and clearer. Speed of the 5s is so much faster than the 4. I can stand by my daughter iphone 4 and can download apps with the 5s three to four times faster than her iphone 4. Sound quality seems like it is clearer also. If I have an individual on speaker it sounds like they are right next to me talking. The only bad thing about the phone is the price. I believe the upgrade should be free with a two year contract. It cost $199 with a two year contract. (twh)

I carry my phone in my pocket which you can do with the iPhone 5S because it is skinny enough to fit. I also like that I can reach all the screen with one hand. The screen is much larger than my old Blackberry. The retina display is beautiful. The colors and crispness are very pleasing to look at. It seem similar to my wives iPhone 5. Does clarity make a difference - yes it prevents eye strain. I have had no trouble with the moving elements on the display. I have no idea why people are complaining about that, but maybe they have some vision troubles or motion sickness issues. You can turn off the moving screen and I would expect future IOS 7 updates to allow users to disable all features people are complaining about.
