Its great for its stated purpose!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you have every wanted to own an iPod but thought it was just to expensive, you would be talking about me. Today you can get some really good deals on an older iPod, like the 6th gen. I purchased here on Best Buy, for a great price or a 5th gen. I found on eBay. The thing thats great about the iPod is its designed to work with so many things you already own, like your surround sound, stereo or your car etc. Check out the open box deals at Best Buy, thats where I found my great deal. To your listening pleasure!

Great, if you can't find a new iPod Classic
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is Apple's latest version of a device for playing music and podcasts, replacing the discontinued iPod Classic. It has everything offered by an iPhone except the ability to make phone calls. As such, it has way too much for the lovers of the simplicity offered by the old iPod, which was called "classic" for a reason — it was a wonderful invention for the purchase and playing of digital music. But taken on its own terms — with wifi, apps, etc. — the iPod Touch is a great device and offers some nice extras for music and podcasts (like the ability to mark the latter as "played" without connecting to iTunes). If you don't have an iPhone and are in the market for an MP3 player, I would recommend going with the Touch rather than a used Classic -- the extra cost is worth the reliability and functionality. One note: Battery life has never lived up to expectations for the Classic or Touch. If you just want the Touch for music and podcasts, you need to turn off several functions in settings to save battery life. Contact Apple for details. Also, you need to download an app for measuring the percentage of battery life remaining. The device itself only measures what is draining the battery.

Annoyed by the pile of completely unnecssary Apps
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I just need my iPod to do one thing - - be my music player, my STRONG by Zumba class videos player, and Zumba class playlist player. (I am a STRONG by Zumba and Zumba Instructor). All the other dumb battery wasting Apps were a real Pain In The A--. I had to hide them or get rid of them, and I had to shut off every unnecessary function I could to save battery life. I don't know who wants their iPod to be so schizo. It is ridiculous. As with my phone, I just need it to be my phone and to be able to use eMail and some internet on it. A few other functions are suitable for my phone, and that's IT!! I don't want or need my phone to be my mobile computer, or music player, or etc ad nauseum, and I DON'T need my music, video, and class player to be my phone! UGH. Maybe it's an ADD problem in general, that people have to have the illusion that their devices "do everything". Whatever. I think the things cost too damned much, but I needed it, since my Nano didn't have enough memory, and I needed a larger screen for class videos. If there were a less ridicuously luxury-pricey option, I would have jumped on it..... That being said, now that I have "bent it to my will" (lol), it does what I need, and has the amount of storage space that I need. I am responding that I would not recommned it to a friend, because I would rather that a friend were able to spend less for equivalent functionality....

Bought if to use as a dedicated music player
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My old iPod Nano finally died and I wanted something that I could use as my music player (and nothing more). It took me hours to accomplish that. There are just so many features to this iPod Touch, that I had a difficult time setting it up so it would do only that. I didn't need (and didn't want) the Siri, ICloud, or wireless internet options. I just wanted a dedicated music player that would work with iTunes. I hope it soon stops prompting me to complete the set on them. It never would Sync with iTunes on my computer so I could load all my music. I had to transfer the 1800 songs and all my playlists manually. In order to get to that point, I had to contact Apple Tech Support. The representative was very knowledgeable and I could tell he really wanted to help and solve my issue. Had it not been for his help, I would have returned the touch and tried something else. I use it when cutting the grass, sitting poolside, vacationing, but it's still more awkward than the old nano. Every time I reach the end of a playlist, I have to use the security code to log back in and then move through the menu to reach the playlists again before I can select another one to play. I haven't yet figured out how to eliminate the security log-in code since I really don't need it. I assume I'll eventually work it all out.

Great, if you want all it offers
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. With the end of the iPod Classic era, this is Apple's portable music-playing option. As such, it offers far more than the average former iPod lover would want -- everything an IPhone can do except make or receive calls, although it even does offer FaceTime for that! So far, it has operated quite well with the exception of battery life. One of the key reasons I moved on from my iPod Classic was its gradually eroding battery life (4-5 hours of music, podcast playing). However, the iPod Touch does not last much longer, if at all. The various functions of the device put a drain on the battery despite all my efforts to reduce them to the barest necessities (in consultation with Apple Care). If I leave it alone for a few days, with a near-full charge, I invariably return to find the battery almost empty. Hence the four stars instead of five. I bought it as an iPod replacement but have gradually come to appreciate and use its various additional offerings and its much-improved song/artist searching capability. The audio quality is top-notch.

great device thus far
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I wasn't aware that I would have to install a new operating system on my MacBook in order to run the very latest versions of iTunes and Photos. Definitely look at the specs and factor this in when deciding whether to get the iPod touch 6 or an earlier generation. Apple gives has the latest OS, El Capitan, available as a free download. I'm finding it rather glitchy and don't like it as much, but I had to update in order to use the iPod with my computer. I I got the iPod touch because I wanted the features of an iPhone, but want to keep my phone separate and simple. So far I'm very happy with the device. It runs fast and the layout is pretty intuitive, even for someone who doesn't have a smartphone. The camera is very nice. I don't love the Apple headphones that came with it because they don't cancel out noise; I can't use them on the train because I can't hear anything.

certified was horrible, brand new was good
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We purchased a geek squad certified one and it was horrible- We spent forever on the line with tech support trying to get past the password that was left on there ) also with all of "Christine's" personal info who apparently purchased it in early April- Christine we made sure to protect your privacy!). We finally gave up drove the hour to the nearest store and returned it and purchased a new one. This one is great. Pretty sure we will never buy anything "geek squad certified" again nor will we ever buy the geek squad tech support plan-clearly doesn't help. IPod brand new good. I would recommend a brand new one never a pre owned one.

Loaded with features
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Learning curve somewhat extensive, inconvenient to locate information on specific actions desired. Far more features than I will ever use. I bought the unit as a replacement for a "Walkman" I have had for years and finally died. I use it almost exclusively to listen to audiobooks when walking, driving or exercising, thus most of the features are not important to me and will in all likelihood not be used. Once the somewhat complex method of moving audiobooks to the unit is understood (much simpler operation on the Walkman) and the multiple steps followed, the performance is good.

Much faster than 5th generation
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Has iPhone 6 internals but same build as 5th gen ipod. Works a lot more fluid than 5th gen. My biggest gripe is out of the box Facetime and Imessage DO NOT WORK. I believe it is a ios 8.4 problem. I just hope apple fixes that soon.

IPOD Touch to replace other IPOD touch
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Although the overall functionality of the IPOD touch does a good job in providing music, podcasts, and Howl.fm app content, I can not give it a full 5 stars simply because historically, (as with many tech products), I have had to replace it over time. This purchase is our 4th Ipod touch in the last 8 years or so. Is it to be expected that technology is going to have to be replaced as newer versions come out? Sure it is. However, the frequency with which those replacements have been required for me makes the IPOD touch a good product, not a great one. Is this a fair way to review this current Ipod touch purchase? Perhaps not, but I have already seen some issues with battery usage being inconsistent and some minor Aux connection issues when hooking it up in my vehicle just as I have had in the past so I have to take the previous precedents into consideration. However, it is still a good product or I wouldn't continue to purchase new ones, but just know that it does have a limited potential shelf life.

Good for casual use
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The iPod Touch is probably rather outdated for most, but perfect if you don't need a phone. It's small and lightweight, feels very slick and sturdy in the hand. As phones get larger this can get a little awkward to use. It is very responsive and the sound is great. Images are fine but I don't really take photos with it. The front-facing camera does really well with video, too. I really only use this for 1 particular app, Sing! by Smule. Reviews on this device from other sites claim it to have a great battery life but this app is particularly draining. In standby, the battery is about par with any other device. If you like to use apps that require a lot of resources you might find the battery lets you down. Otherwise this is a great value for a casual entertainment companion!

Trusty "not-phone" with just a few annoyances.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased for a family member who does not own a smartphone, but wanted all the other features of a smart mobile device. It suits her very well, and works as expected. My wife's iPod Touch, same generation but different color, gave out after just 2.5 years; we guess this may be in part because she bought it "refurbished." Hopefully this is not a trend. Very nice to be able to use a device as if it were a phone (just without voice), without having to pay for a data plan, since it just uses WiFi. Our family member uses this as her main camera, as well, and has been happy with the results. Note: the cable it comes with deteriorates quickly, and Apple claims not to know about this flaw even though complaints about it are all over the internet. Also, the device does not come with an AC adapter.

Great product
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Overall it's a great product, the battery life is so-so. If I'm not using it, it'll stay charged for days, in I'm using it, it'll die within a few hours which I feel like is normal, but it charges extremely fast. I've gone from 5% to fully charged in less than 30 minutes, no exaggeration. It's lightweight, attractive to look at, and has great storage, however, I literally only use it for my music because I have a 16gb iPhone that I use for everything else. Songs download quickly and the sound quality is great. The volume is pretty loud and I love that it's Bluetooth compatible because you can use wireless headphones and workout (lol jk I don't do that, who am I kidding?) without getting the cord tangled. Additionally, Apple Music works great on it which is an awesome service in and of itself.

Great on-the-go size but needs better battery life
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I needed to downsize from carrying my iPad 2 around to listen to music to something that wouldn't weigh down my purse and had a lot more GB storage. For the price, I thought it was a great deal, makes it so much easier to be on the train in the city without lugging the huge iPad around, but would love it if the battery lasted a bit longer. Also, having a lock button would be great, as I find my music playing randomly in my purse because the buttons are pressed by mistake. But overall, a nice way to carry tons of music and movies on the go!

Very good product
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The iPod touch was purchased to be a personal assistant (contacts, notes, calendar). Although it can, and does do much more, all I required it to do is hold this info and sync to my PC. Right out of the box I connected it to my PC (which REQUIRES the use of iTunes for syncing). After the iTunes install, the iPod touch required a firmware update - iTunes took care of that. Once the iPod rebooted and verified, I setup the syncing of data from Outlook. The process was simple but did take around an hour from "out of box" to "synced". One of the nicer things I did not initially know is the iPod will sync wirelessly - just connect it to your internal wireless network; the iPod found my PC and synced wirelessly.

Delivers music as I wish, but has its minus'
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It delivers the portable musical experience as I wish, but the new touch design and inability to put screen in rotate with movement mode gets annoying. For example, I know I put a passcode on for security reasons, but it's a downer when I'm in the middle of my cardio workout and want to hit the arrow to change a song and have to put forth the effort to stay coordinated and type correctly to type in the code when I'm already concentrating on not biffing it. In addition, it's really annoying having the plug part of my headphones sticking out of the bottom and not letting it sit evenly on the surface when I'm already busy enough trying to stay on balance on the treadmill ( that's what makes the inability to rotate the screen whether the portrait orientation lock is on or off annoying).

Almost an iPhone
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased this for my wife for her running and listening to music. She has the shuffle, but wanted a display to see her playlists, etc. Was disappointed to find out Apple no longer makes the iPod Nano, which was perfect for running. Now she has to carry this larger device while running. The device itself does what is it is intended for and has worked great so far. Good camera, plenty of space for apps, can facetime, message other Apple devices etc. (As long as you are connected to wifi). It's very thin and light, but still more bulky than the older Nano. Definitely recommend getting a case and screen protector as the device is pretty expensive and can be dropped easily.

It's fine, but not for my purposes
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this to replace my IPOD nano. I really only use this for listening to music/podcasts while jogging or walking the dog. I don't care about any of the other features. So, I think for my purposes, this was the wrong device to buy. It is too clunky for jogging. While running, it is difficult to change songs, artists, etc...I also do not like how there is a separate ap for the podcasts. But, that is probably an ITunes issue as opposed to the Touch itself. I didn't want to give the item a lower rating, based on the fact that I don't think it is intended to be used for the purposes that I want. That was my mistake. But, I would NOT recommend this to anyone who wants to use this while running.
