I recently purchased a Mac Mini from Best Buy for school, but my experience was incredibly disappointing. The product arrived opened and appeared to be used, which was troubling. To make matters worse, I encountered terrible customer service. Despite numerous attempts to resolve the issue, no one was able to help me. They even canceled my order without informing me, and then refused to honor the original sale or the tax-free Florida promotion. Would not recommend buying from them

The Apple Mac mini is a compact and versatile desktop computer that continues to impress with its powerful performance and sleek design. Here’s a detailed review: ### Design and Build The Mac mini retains its signature minimalist design, featuring a sleek aluminum chassis that fits easily on any desk. Its small footprint makes it a great choice for those with limited space, and it can be easily transported if needed. The build quality is exceptional, as expected from Apple, giving it a premium feel. ### Performance Powered by Apple's M1 chip, the Mac mini offers impressive performance. The M1 integrates an 8-core CPU, an 8-core GPU, and a 16-core Neural Engine, delivering a substantial boost in speed and efficiency over its Intel-based predecessors. This makes the Mac mini capable of handling demanding tasks such as video editing, software development, and 3D rendering with ease. ### Connectivity The Mac mini offers a good range of connectivity options, including two Thunderbolt/USB 4 ports, two USB-A ports, an HDMI 2.0 port, Gigabit Ethernet, and a headphone jack. The inclusion of Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.0 ensures fast wireless connectivity. However, some users may miss the SD card slot and the more extensive port options found on larger desktops. ### Software and Ecosystem Running macOS, the Mac mini integrates seamlessly with the Apple ecosystem, providing a smooth user experience. Features like Handoff, AirDrop, and Universal Clipboard enhance productivity for those already invested in Apple devices. The transition to Apple Silicon has also led to a growing library of optimized apps, and the ability to run iOS and iPadOS apps adds further versatility. ### Value for Money The Mac mini is competitively priced, offering a compelling option for those seeking a powerful desktop without breaking the bank. Its performance rivals that of more expensive models, and the base model provides a solid starting point for most users. For professionals who need more storage or memory, configurations can be customized to meet specific needs, though upgrades are not user-accessible post-purchase. ### Conclusion The Apple Mac mini with the M1 chip is a standout in the desktop market, combining powerful performance, sleek design, and excellent value. It’s an ideal choice for both casual users and professionals looking for a compact yet capable machine. While it might lack some connectivity options and upgradability, its overall performance and integration with the Apple ecosystem make it a top contender. In summary, the Mac mini is a versatile, high-performance desktop that delivers excellent value, particularly for those already embedded in the Apple ecosystem.

Perfect Computer for Tech-Hesitant Parents! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

After watching my parents struggle with their decade-old PC, I decided to gift them the Mac Mini M2. Best decision ever! My mom, who used to call me weekly about computer issues, hasn't had a single problem in three months. The setup was incredibly simple - we just plugged it in, connected their old monitor and keyboard, and they were up and running in minutes. The speed difference literally made my dad's jaw drop. He loves that his genealogy software now opens "before he can even sit down" (his words). Mom's favorite part is how the computer never gets hot or noisy like their old tower - she was always worried about the old one overheating. They both appreciate that it takes up barely any space on their desk, and mom says it "looks elegant" next to her family photos. What really surprised me was how quickly they adapted to macOS. I was worried about the learning curve, but Apple's intuitive design made the transition smooth. They particularly love using FaceTime to video chat with the grandkids, and the image quality is fantastic with the M2 chip. The only minor issue was figuring out how to connect their old printer, but a quick call to Apple Support solved that in minutes. The support rep was incredibly patient and walked them through everything step by step. For anyone looking to upgrade their parents' or grandparents' computing setup, I can't recommend the Mac Mini M2 enough. It's powerful, reliable, and most importantly, it's given my parents confidence in using their computer again. Worth every penny for the peace of mind alone - both for them and for me (no more weekly tech support calls)! Pros: - Lightning fast performance - Silent operation - Small footprint - Easy setup - Great for everyday tasks - Excellent build quality Cons: - Had to buy a separate webcam for video calls - Initial printer setup needed support help

I needed a desktop to replace a 2013 Mac that had aged out of support. This was double the specs of a basic Mac desktop at less than half of the price. I purchased a non-apple monitor and have had no issues. The document and file sharing between my new Mac mini, iPad, and iPhone has really been a boost to my productivity, and having a truly powerful desktop in the tiny package of the Mini has been amazing. I didn’t realize how slow my previous old Mac had gotten until I got the Mac Mini set up. I’ve had no issues with any of the connections, programs, or compatibility with accessories. I’m so glad I got the Mini for its power, price, and how it allowed me to really customize my office space to my preference. Setup was very quick, and I was working with all my preferred settings within about 20 minutes of turning it on.

Good machine so far. Got great deal on base m2 model on sale. Actually bought it at $599 but randomly saw 10 days later a sale ad online for best buy for same model at $499. I contacted bb through online chat and they matched the price no problem. Was considering bumping up to 16gb ram but decided for only $500, base was good enough. I already have a an imac and 2 macbooks that have higher ram if needed and this m2 chip should handle most my work load. I also get a new macbook or mac every 3-4 years so should be fine for my use until then. I travel back and forth so this is good to take with me along with my macbooks for a desktop setup wherever I am. Happy with purchase so far.

I'm thoroughly impressed with my Mac mini. It's been a dependable companion for my digital endeavors, seamlessly handling whatever tasks I throw its way. However, my one piece of advice would be to opt for the 16GB of RAM over the 8GB configuration. While the 8GB variant performs admirably, the extra RAM ensures smoother multitasking and future-proofs your setup for more demanding applications down the line. One thing that slightly irks me is Apple's approach to upgrades. Unlike other manufacturers, Apple limits your upgrade options to before purchase, leaving little room for flexibility post-purchase. This restriction feels counterintuitive, especially considering the versatility of the Mac mini. It's a minor gripe, but one worth mentioning for those considering their options. Despite this caveat, the Mac mini is a powerhouse. Its compact design makes it a versatile addition to any workspace, and its compatibility with a wide range of devices ensures seamless integration into any setup. Plus, the stellar service provided by Best Buy made the purchasing experience a breeze, further solidifying my satisfaction with this investment. Overall, a fantastic product that delivers on its promises, with just a slight hiccup in the upgrade process.

For a certain type of customer this machine is a good deal at $600 and a steal if you get it on sale or with education pricing at $500. It boots quickly, runs quietly and handles your browsing and basic apps like iMovie, GarageBand without issue. The small size means it will fit just about anywhere, and there are plenty of third-party mounting options if you want to hide it under a desk or behind a monitor. If you're considering using it for anything heavier like Final Cut Pro you'll want a model with more RAM and potentially a higher CPU, or a Mac Studio. If you don't already have a quality display, mouse and keyboard a base-model iMac M3 may be a better deal. But for a simple family computer replacing an older PC or Mac it's a great machine.

So, I am going to be completely honest here. I was not always an Apple fan, but after purchasing one of these I may have realised that I had been missing out on Apple products! This device has been a huge blessing in my life. The Mac mini Desktop has worked well with my online college, work from home, and is also very great and fast for gaming! What I like about it, is that it is compatible with other brand mouses and keyboards as well. I like to hook it up to my TV to have a bigger experience as when it comes to gaming. If you are looking to stream as well this product is for you! I have had no problems out of this device so far. Definitely recommend!!!

M2 Mac Mini - Took the Dive!!!

I will start out with saying I have never owned a Mac before. The last apple computer I worked on was in high school (Apple 2 - Ouch I'm getting old). I have been seeing the M2 mini on sale several times and really needed to replace an aging windows / linux PC I have been using for over 12 years now. So, I decided to take the plunge and try apple again. The biggest decision was base base model or upgraded to more RAM / bigger HD / M2 Pro? After doing loads of research, I decided on the base model as I am not editing / producing video or music, but just doing some basic document writing, web surfing and other miscellaneous tasks that don't require a higher end model. I was pleasantly surprised at how peppy / responsive this machine is. I have had no issues with anything so far. I am not a gamer, so I can't really expound on that experience. I did find so many arguments on why you "Should or should not" get the Pro or the upgraded models instead of the base model. Finding good and honest reviews really helped make a decision, and I hope this will help someone else as well. Base model is absolutely fantastic, and if it lasts even half as long as my last PC (Which I built myself), I will be completely satisfied considering the price point. Getting the the computing power from a windows based PC at this price point will never happen. The base model only has 2 USB A and 2 Thunderbolt ports, which could be an issue for some folks depending on your needs for hooking up external devices. There is a stand / hub that the mini will sit on... https://www.bestbuy.com/site/satechi-stand-hub-for-mac-mini-studio-with-nvme-ssd-enclosure-silver/6573622.p?skuId=6573622 and would be a nice add on for those who need more ports. I have nit run into this yet as I have a wireless mouse and keyboard that uses a USB A dongle to connect, so I still have a second USB available. To round things up, I am completely satisfied with the decision I made in purchasing the base model M2. Looking at upgrades, like 16 GB RAM or a larger HD, get expensive at $200 for each upgrade, which if you did the RAM and HD, you are only a few hundred dollars away from the pro model, which offers so much more in processing power. For me, it would be like buying an 800 HP race car to drive a few miles down the road to work every day when a normal every day vehicle will do just fine. Some folks suggested adding on an external HD or jump drive in one of the ports if you run out of drive space or if you need extra drive space for whatever reason. Glad I made the decision to give Apple a shot!

I’m using the base model with 8gb of ram. As a software developer I find that this computer is great for minor projects. My setup has two monitors hooked up and I tend to use chrome with about 5-10 tabs and an IDE open. I’ve found that this is about the limit for my Mac. On occasion, I’ve found that the computer tends to slow down. Especially when I begin opening other software simultaneously such as outlook and word. I’d recommend this to someone who is learning to code and is primarily focused on their education. Otherwise I’d recommend getting the m2 pro model with more ram. For 599 it is a great value.

Mac Mini M2 with 256GB storage and 8GB RAM is a clear example of how great things can come in small packages. As someone who values both performance and space efficiency in computing, I found this little machine to be a delightful surprise. The first thing you'll notice about the Mac Mini M2 is its compact, sleek design. It’s incredibly space-efficient, fitting unobtrusively on any desk. This makes it an ideal choice for those with limited space or a preference for minimalist setups. Despite its small size, the build quality is sturdy and feels premium, as one would expect from Apple. Performance-wise, the M2 chip is a beast. It handles everyday tasks with effortless grace – web browsing, streaming, office applications, and even photo editing are smooth and quick. The 8GB of RAM, while seemingly modest, is optimized by the efficiency of macOS and the M2 chip, resulting in performance that punches above its weight. For storage, the 256GB SSD is speedy, contributing to the overall snappiness of the system. Boot times are lightning-fast, and applications load almost instantly. While the storage might be a bit limiting for power users, it’s ample for most general users, and external storage solutions can easily expand it. The connectivity options are impressive, with two Thunderbolt / USB 4 ports, HDMI, two USB-A ports, and Gigabit Ethernet. This allows for a wide range of peripherals and displays to be connected, making the Mac Mini M2 quite versatile. One of the biggest draws is the M2 chip’s efficiency in power consumption and heat management. The Mac Mini runs cool and quiet, even under load, which is a significant advantage. The Mac Mini M2 with 8GB RAM is perhaps not for those who do heavy video editing or 3D rendering. However, for anyone from casual users to professionals who don’t require the intense power of a high-end desktop, it’s a fantastic choice. It offers excellent performance, a small footprint, and the premium feel of Apple products, all at a relatively affordable price point. In conclusion, the Mac Mini M2 256GB with 8GB RAM is a testament to Apple's ability to pack powerful performance into a small, elegant package. It’s ideal for a wide range of users and proves that you don’t need a giant tower for a capable desktop computer.

I was a little concerned with only having 8 gig of ram. Very surprised with how powerful this is, plus it’s silent. Replaced a full-size Dell Core I7 with this Mac mini. This little computer is probably 1/10th the size and faster. I do light graphic design and office productivity. If I was doing video editing recommend 16 gig of ram. The M2 processor is insane at this price, if you're comfortable with MacOS, this thing is crazy cheap for the performace. I use it for coding, music production, and just about anything I need to do. I'm sure that if Apple let developers use conventional graphical libraries this would be enough graphical power have a great gaming experience. Anyway, overall if you need a desktop, and you're fine with MacOS, this is an obvious solution.
