So this is one of the fastest Macs available and the value behind it is great. But I had so many issues with boot-up and waking up the computer that I had to return it (twice) just wish they were more reliable.

Needed a replacement Mac ASAP, and this MacMini was available to pick up locally. Running InDesign and Photoshop smoothly.

Using this as a server for Plex. Replaced my 2011 IMac. Works great and able to handle what I've been able to throw at it.

Picked up the new Mac mini a few weeks ago. Stating to move into the Mac ecosystem, and everything works great. This is really the best bang for your buck for a Macintosh. I had monitors a mouse and keyboard so it works well. Mac mini still has all the ports you need to connect peripherals if needed, unlike all other macs that only give you a couple USB c ports.

I've carefully waited and researched all options in my price range before making this purchase. The MacMini i5 model is the perfect balance of value and performance. It's faster than I could've imagined and runs smoothly without any issues, lagging or freezing up. It has plenty of Ports for external accessories and is quiet as can be. To get this type of power and performance in a laptop, it would've cost me twice what this one did. I'd highly recommend the i5 model to anyone in search of a good future proofed pc which is portable and versatile.

    Major Improvement Over 2012 Server

I used a maxed out version the previous Mac Mini (Late 2012 Mac Mini Server i7). It was a rock solid machine for all 5 years I used it. The last year has been rough though. Just browsing websites caused the machine to use the fan at full speed. Using Adobe applications would cause it to get super hot to the touch. Lagging was also starting to occur, if I was doing too many things at once. This new version is a significant improvement. Since I've bought it, the fan hasn't run once, even with 12 Illustrator and Photoshop tabs open and running videos in the background. In fact it doesn't even get warm to the touch. It's so wonderful to be able to work without hearing a constant blowing noise. The speed at which projects render and load are also greatly improved. This should be no surprise jumping form a 3rd generation i7 with 4 cores to an 8th generation i5 with 6 cores. It really is blazing fast. Performance aside, I do have some gripes with it. First and foremost is the fact that my Thunderbolt screen is no longer compatible without an expensive adapter. I thought this was kind of a middle finger to long time users, especially since Apple no longer produces a display. I also don't like how they only include 2 USB 3.0 ports. I get that USB C is better, but none of my office peripherals use it. And because I had to give up my Thunderbolt screen, that reduced my available ports even further. A $30 dongle added 6 ports, but I do think it is incredibly silly being that this is a machine meant to be used in an office environment. The WiFi also has major issues. Out of the box I was getting less than 1 mbps. After renewing the DHCP lease, and resetting my network a few times, I was able to resolve the issue, but I still experience WiFi slowdowns that I did not have with my old Mac Mini. Lastly, I really miss being able to have a secondary internal hard drive. I'm fine running one on the outside, but it is much less secure. Overall I really like the upgrade. At $1,050 It's a great value for the money.
