I think most people agree, this is a super expensive laptop for what you get. It's well designed, beautiful to look at, has decent specs, but costs about twice as much as a comparable Dell/HP/Acer for similar configuration. Though these do tend to last longer than the average Windows machine in my experience. Plus, it's what the wife is used to, and wanted. So that's what she gets. She didn't notice any downgrade from the 13" Macbook Pro that her previous job gave her, vs this Macbook, which is great because that's a $400-500 difference. She doesn't do anything intensive that needs extra HDD space, so 256GB is just fine. Any large files will go on an external HDD for safekeeping. I managed to snag this on a sale, but even at that price it hurt my frugal fingers to hit the "Place Order" button. I also bought a plastic see through snap-on "Millimeter" brand case to protect it from scratches and falls. Sure enough, she dropped it 2ft within 2 weeks of owning it and it was protected. I highly recommend getting a case. Also bought a "dodocool" brand carrying sleeve with soft inner lining for further protection. For us, this isn't a throwaway laptop, it's a 4-5 year investment.

Very sleek, easy to use, light. Worked so easily when I got it home. Easy to set up too. Seems very fast to go from page to page and site to site.

Seriously, it's a mac and there's not a whole lot I can say about it that hasn't already been discussed. I love it. The color is lovely-I purchased gold because they were out of the rose gold. I did not upgrade the storage or speed because I only need it for small web surfing or email tasks. I really enjoy the size, it's easy for me to carry it around everywhere I go to use for quick functions. The battery life is awesome but what I've learned is if I use Google Chrome it will drain the battery faster than if I use Safari. Something to consider if you enjoy google chrome like i do. Aside from that it's awesome. It takes some getting used to not having a USB port but there are adapters for that so it's not that much of an issue. However if you are looking for heavier usage then I maybe wouldn't recommend this particular laptop because it's only designed for minimal work. It's great for students or adults that want an on the go laptop. Overall, I'd highly recommend this device mostly because I am a fangirl but also because it just gets the job done. When you look at other laptops this size on the market, they can be more buggy and the operating system isn't as flawless. I will say if you are looking for affordability, either get the older model or get another brand because this does not skim on the price at all.

I am a scientist would travels about 20 times a year. I needed a Mac to worked on papers and projects with academic colleagues. I also wanted something small and light for working on papers and algorithms while on travel. This early 2016 MacBook is a real gem. I have the m3 processor. It is more than powerful enough for small and medium sized computations in scientific software. The Retina screen is outstanding for visualization for writing in either Word or LaTex and for viewing quick plots. It is limited in how much information can be rendered versus a laptop with a dedicated GPU of course, but I don't need to plot that much information. The battery life is excellent, although for maximum life, I have to make sure the bluetooth is off when it is not being used. A lot of people complain about the keyboard keys; the shallow depressing of keys is bothersome to them. I have a few opposite reactions about the keyboard. First, I actually like the low depression depth of the keys. Second, the keyboard buttons are larger and are concave up. I am not sure if these feature help with fat-fingering, but I have noticed that I have less fat fingering. Some reviewers have not liked the fact that the MacBook has only one USB-C port. I have not found any impact to my workflow with this one port.

The apple MacBook 12" is awesome for taking to work or to school and to handle your daily tasks. The screen is great especially considering its only 12", it definitely feels like a compact laptop - but the clean display and traditional Mac keyboard stop it from feeling overly cramped. All of the ports, save one, are gone from this model. The only remaining port is a C USB that charges your very long lived battery. While this is convenient at times, and eliminates some of the space taken up by other ports, having to buy a dongle for every media type (usb, card reader, hdmi) is a bit annoying, however if you're not one to hook up accessories then it won't matter because everything can be handled by the mac's Bluetooth capabilities.

Absolutely love the space gray color of this Macbook. This is the second Macbook in our household and we've never had an issue with any Mac we have ever owned. Excellent product and quality with attention to detail. Small, thin, lightweight and so very portable! It's a little powerhouse! I spend a lot of time multi-tasking between programs for up to 8 hours a day and have never had any issues. It's just fast, snappy, and responsive. Battery life is also long, which means less frequent use of the charger. Display is also crisp and clear and easy on the eyes. I seem to suffer much less eye strain with retina display as well. Love it!

I've always used PCs before and debated over whether or not to get this computer for over a month. I am happy I did. It is significantly lighter and faster than my old laptop and the battery life is great. It lasts me two days of moderate word processing and internet use and about 8 hours of constant, heavy use. It starts up and opens programs with very little wait. The lack of any usb ports was odd at first, but I got an adapter that allows me to plug a regular usb into the usb type-c plug and the MacBook reads it with no problems. I am extremely happy with my purchase.

This computer is thinner than the MacBook air, and extremely light for portability to and from school and work. The screen quality is fantastic, and the sound is superb. My one qualm would be the lack of ports to plug other devices in (even a USB!), but with one quick add on plug you can plug in the works. Great for both personal and student use.

The new MacBook is light, fast, sleek. It maintains a lot of the style elements of older MacBooks while still building on the design. The keyboard is flat, which is a departure from older models. Do not be fooled however, this new feature is a step forward, as it makes fast typing much easier and smoother (added 7 wpm to my personal best). The processing power of the new M8 chip is Impressive. Large excel sheets are easy to open and quick to load. Large PDFs stream easily and intensive web browsing is easy. While I have yet to test the machine for gaming or more intensive Adobe programming, I see this laptop competing with the Air as the go to computer for students and mobile professionals.

Apple never disappoints. This is a great machine. It is sleek and light for easy transport and so incredibly fast. The new keyboard is also great and love that they kept the backlight feature on the macbooks. Great machine for the price. My last MacBook lasted me about 8 years (and is still running - just wanted to upgrade), so I imagine this one will last even longer. The battery is great too. It charges super quick...went from 20% to 100% in a matter of an hour and a half.

    Becoming My Favorite Macbook!

There's been so much written about how the new Macbook 12" - and most of it was not overwhelmingly positive. So like all experienced Apple buyers, I waited to see what changes would be made. Hardly any... so I bought one to replace my 11.6" Macbook Air. I am glad that I did and glad that I waited. The screen is just awesome! It's so much easier to create on the Retina LCD. My eyes at the end of the day are noticeably less tired. The keyboard is not as hard for one to adjust as the reviewers would leave you to believe. The responsiveness is there - just different. I don't have any problems spending 4 hours in an economy seat working. Regardless of test scores, this machine feels quicker than my 2014 Air to the point that I haven't looked back. The USB C adapter is not a big deal to me since nearly all of my connection points are wireless but, I have to say that I miss my MagSafe2 power adapter. If you need multiple connections - you will have to spend $100 bucks more on cables and dongles and adapters that just always break or get lost. I love the battery life - a day without cords is always a good day. For the professional who is on the move or a student looking for an all day machine - I would certainly recommend the New Macbook.

It is everything I could of ever wanted. I went back and forth for ages on if I should spend the money for a Apple laptop. I am not disappointed. It works seamless with everything I use. I like that I can use imessages and it's easy to airplay to my apple tv. It has plenty of speed for my internet browsing and light photo editing.I like how small it is, the keyboard and the trackpad. I do not think I could ever go back to a PC now.

The best laptop on the market. Best battery, best mobile performance, most ingenious design and engineering available. The lack of connections requires the additional purchase of compatible adapters, but this product is by far superior to anything else on the market including other apple computers.

The 12" Mac Laptop is perfect for me. This little notebook is light, fast, and easy on the battery. The price made me cringe a little, but then I remembered the cost of Microsoft's latest hardware. Every few years I jump back and forth between Mac OS and Windows. This time I'm here to stay.

I've been using laptops for years, and this was the first one I bought that gave me second thoughts. I loved the size, weight and speed, but the keyboard... Just wasn't a fan. Was getting ready to return it, and a friend said to give it a few days, and I'm glad I did. It's still not perfect by any means, but I've already gone through the acceptance-to-like-to-really-like stages - might eventually be my favorite. Once you get used to lightly tapping the keys (rather than slamming), your typing speed increases and mistakes are fewer. Give it a chance, if it doesn't win you ever in a week, then return it for something else. I've got a feeling you won't, though. :P

I've owned Macs for years and this little MacBook is one of my favorite computers I've ever owned. It's super light and portable which makes it great to throw into a backpack and go. Being a photographer who uses Adobe Lightroom, I was initially concerned about this not being powerful enough but it's handled things like a champ so far. Sure only having one port can be annoying sometimes, specifically when I want to import photos, but adapters are fine for that one instance. Overall, I love this computer and I'm excited to see where the line goes from here.

I looked for a small and super light laptop for college. My priority was weight but I also wanted to have good performance. All small and light Windows PC had very poor processors and useless storage. PC that had acceptable specs, were priced same or even more than this Apple MacBook. Since I have a MacBook Pro, I'm used to using Apple OS. Additionally, I have a hate-hate relationship with Windows 10, so this choice was a not brainier. And I'm so glad I did get this little machine. It is perfect for all college school work, it is quick and most important, super light (which I can't say about my textbooks) and super cute. I bought mine as an Open-Box item online. It was perfect, just like new and saved me tons of money. So if you looking for a great little laptop with excellent performance for school work and one that you can throw into your purse, your backpack or just carry it in your hands without feeling like you carrying another piece of brick, stop looking and searching and get this MacBook. Believe me, this is for you and you will love it!

We were looking for a Mac that was as light as a MacBook Air but had the superb HD retina display on my MacBook Pro. This product fits the bill perfectly. It may not have the processing power of a Core i5 or i7 machine but to be honest for 99% of the applications you won't even notice; having 8GB of RAM certainly helps in that department. It's a very fine machine; it performs the way you would expect a Mac to and the battery life, although not as good as a MacBook Pro, is excellent. Having only a single USB-C port is not really an issue either; a combined USB-C, HDMI and USB port is a cheap and unobtrusive addition. The display quality is superb as well. The only criticism I have is the keyboard. The keys are practically flush with the keyboard surface which makes typing a little challenging, but over time you get used to it. Overall, a superb product and an excellent MacBook for a very good price.

I walk quite a bit to the cafe where I study and work with my laptop. I love this unit as the battery life is great and it is super light weight at just 2 lbs. Putting a lot of books in a backpack adds up weight in a hurry and with this very (very!) thin laptop and its low weight it is a perfect companion...my old Lenovo easily weighed twice this and was 3/4" thick.
