Customers are saying
Customers are enthusiastic about the Macbook®'s lightweight design, impressive portability, and its compact size. Many appreciate the long battery life and the smooth performance. While some find the limited number of ports and the single USB-C port inconvenient, the positive feedback on other features outweighs these concerns for most users.

A Look Towards the Future of Laptops(?)
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you're in the Apple ecosystem already, then you're already used to paying a lot of money for just okay hardware, which is exactly what you're doing here. This is basically a slightly more powerful chromebook. I've been living with this laptop for about 7 months now, and bought it as my primary laptop for college. This is my honest review (for overall review, just skip to the bottom): The m5 processor is so underpowered that the new iPhones are now almost as powerful. However, there is a reason for this. This entire laptop weighs just over two pounds and gets approx. 10 hours of battery life on average. The m5 processor is designed to be very efficient, and is by no means a work horse. I can edit 1080p 60 fps videos on it in iMovie with some difficulty. But the exporting process can take close to an hour or more for a 10ish minute video. Garageband works relatively well too, as long as you keep your project relatively small. Now for the keyboard and trackpad. I was always excited for the keyboard, and it holds up the hype. I love this keyboard. The butterfly switch will be a little bit of an adjustment at first, but only for the first week or so. Now all other keyboards I use feel clunky in comparison. The trackpad is also very cool. I already had an iPhone 6s and Apple Watch, so I was used to the concept of force touch, and this is basically the same thing. Very easy to get used to and awesome to utilize. The screen. It's absolutely beautiful. The pixel density is a perfect amount for this size screen, and everything looks crystal clear from your lap or desk. You don't even notice the pixels until your face gets about 6 inches away from the display. Beautiful. Beautiful. Beautiful. Battery life. As I previously stated, I usually get about 10 hours of battery life out of this thing on average. Easily all day battery life, and I love bragging to my friends that I usually only need to charge my laptop once every other day, while they're stuck trying to find an outlet before the end of the day. The one, the only, USB-C port. Honestly, it's not that big of a deal for me. You hardly ever have to charge it, so that's hardly an issue. On the rare occasion that I actually have to physically transfer data, I just plug in a USB-C flash drive with your standard USB port on the other side and I'm good to go. At this point in 2017, I hardly ever find myself using a flash drive. Everything I do is usually done in google docs and I have wireless printing. I also have an Apple TV, so if I ever need to show something on a bigger screen, I just airplay it to there and I'm all set. Don't fear the one port. You'll hardly ever need it. Price. Overpriced, as usual. If you don't already have an iPhone, Apple Watch, iPad, etc. I wouldn't recommend this computer. One of the big reasons I like it so much is that it syncs perfectly with all of my other Apple devices, if it wasn't for the software, the hardware (no matter how revolutionary it is) just isn't worth the price of $1600. However, if you already are in the Apple ecosystem, then you'll probably like this, even for the price point. Overall: I still just say that it's a glorified chromebook. Yes, it looks very nice, and probably a laptop ahead of its time, but at the end of the day it's still a $1600 chromebook in my eyes. If you're already in the Apple ecosystem and have a decent sized wallet, go for it. If not, just get a windows laptop. $1600 can get you A LOT more if you go that route. But still, I don't regret buying this. I love it and will use it until it finally dies on me.

Love MacBook
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It’s easy to carry because it’s light. The quality is outstanding. When I turn it on, I do not have to wait on updates like I did with my HP laptop. The Retina display is so clear. The color is beautiful and it’s Apple. So, that speaks for itself. The price was awesome! Thank you Best Buy!! ;-)

Great Laptop. Does everything that I need!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a great laptop. I have always used PC or Windows based computers other than my iPhone and IPAD. This is a sleek looking laptop and does everything that I need for it too. The single USBC port is a bit of a pain however, I realize that you have to give up some features in order to maintain a sleek design. I purchased an adapter that enables me to read memory cards and charge my laptop at the same time. I researched this product for several months prior to making my purchase and I have no regrets. The MacBook is very fast and has a great battery life. It is the perfect laptop for use in the home and a breeze to travel with.

Faster than the 2015
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I appreciate the thin design, ultra portability, and fan-less build more than any other aspect of this device. These 3 things should be front and center when considering purchasing this device. This was an update for us from the 2015 ( 1st Gen.) model. Physically the device has the same build quality and great screen. It does exhibit improved overall function under heavier loads ( not really designed as a gaming laptop or photo/video editor), however it's not a true core i5 or i7 processor either. Battery life is good. This is a great little laptop for travel. We utilize the device for that aspect and it suits our needs well. Sure we need a dongle but that's not a big concern for us. The keyboard is shallow, but after using the previous gen. for over a year its not an issue anymore. If you need an ultraportable for travel or just something to use as a daily driver for e-mail, internet or light duty office software then give it some consideration.

Fantastic mobile machine: better than iPad & Air
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Better than the IPad and the MacBook Air combined. Better optics, thinner, faster, bigger hard drive, full operating system. And the Best Buy clearance deal ($500 off) was icing on the rose gold cake. Thrilled to have this highly mobile laptop as a supplement to my 15" MacBook Pro. After several weeks, I can honestly say this one is beautiful and performs amazingly.

Slim and fast
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm very satisfied with my purchase of the 12" Macbook. It was exactly what I expected. The light weight and small size makes this laptop convenient to bring everywhere. It's also fast and the operating system has many helpful features, such as syncing with my iPhone. Battery life is very good. The only downsides I noticed so far are the pre-installed spreadsheet and word processing software. They are not as easy to use as Excel or Word, but if you use these programs extensively, you'll have to buy them anyway. Highly recommended!

Perfect for its purpose
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This little engine that could has surprised me with how much more it can handle as compared to expectations. I’ve used it for basics like finance, browsing and streaming, but was surprised at how well it handled video capture/editing and other processor-hungry tasks. It isn’t designed for constant heavy use, but is perfect if you are looking for a fast, easy machine for basic needs. It is solid, compact and has an AMAZING screen. Pricey, yes, but based upon past Apple and non-Apple products I’ve owned, I expect it to last more than long enough to justify the cost as compared to cheaper competitors. In fact, I purchased a second one for a family member who is equally satisfied. Last, this little monster re-charges INCREDIBLY FAST and boasts an excellent battery life. Go for it!

Amazing Computer
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Got this computer to upgrade over my MacBook Pro 2013 and I love it, it's light, slim, and performs much faster. I thought I wouldn't survive without the USB's and disc drive but you don't really need that anymore. The Apple USB C adapter works just fine whenever I do need to use a USB but again that's also rare. This is a great machine and I'll recommend for anyone using this for school and as an everyday machine.

Would have gotten 5 stars if I was younger
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Didn't quite work for me because my old eyes and fingers prefer a larger screen and better keyboard but my better half loves this footprint because she can easily place it in her book bag to take to school and hardly notices the weight. Performs well and would have gotten 5 stars if the keyboard din't feel so flimsy.

Great Little Device
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The weight, thin build, retina display, and very good battery life are thinks to consider when looking at this laptop. Having ports or being able to update this device - not so much. The is perfect to take on trips, short vacations, or just to the coffee shop for a meeting. The shallow keyboard does take time to get used to, however it's not that bad. I would recommended this for anyone looking for light to moderate use, especially on the road. Photo or video editing can be done but the device will struggle. This device in my backpack is almost not even noticeable at around 2 lbs.

I'm liking it...
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.A new OS update came out about 2 days after I purchased this MacBook, and it must have not installed correctly because the bluetooth adapter stopped working, and after contacting Apple support they had me re-install the OS and recover from a Time Machine backup. ...which is why I'm taking off a star, cause issues with new computers are always a pain. Ever since, and it has been about a month, the computer has worked super well. I went from a 2013 MacBook Pro to this awesome 12" MacBook that weighs almost nothing and fits pretty much anywhere. Many people told me I would regret going from a MacBook Pro to a MacBook, and I don't - it's actually performs better than I had thought it would. Does my old MB Pro beat it? ...yes; but, the MacBook does not lag in most cases and works well. I'm a pretty demanding user since I'm using the computer for grad school, using it for app development, for a couple of volunteer opportunities where I teach technology classes and/or manage and develop websites and web apps, and I'm a hobby photographer. Which means I'm running Apple apps (like Mail, Photos, iBooks, Xcode), Microsoft apps (Office, Windows 10 via Parallels, Visual Studio), Adobe apps (Muse, Dreamweaver, Photoshop), and who knows how many more apps. For the most part, I have not experienced any issues running apps, many times several of them at once. There are some things that my old MB Pro ran better though - like the Adobe apps, and maybe Parallels with Windows booted and performed a bit quicker; but, again, I'm ok with how apps run on this computer since I made the choice to sacrifice some performance for portability. Aside from the form factor, I love the keyboard and trackpad - the keyboard is another thing I had been told I would hate, and it's actually super awesome once you get used to it and I think the shorter key presses help me type things faster (maybe not, who knows). Having the one USB-C port has not been much of an issue either since I mainly use OneDrive, iCloud, Google Drive, or Dropbox for everything. It is inconvenient when I do need to plug my camera in, or get somewhere where I'll be presenting an realize I forgot my USB-C dongle; but, I'm used to taking it everywhere now. Battery life has not been an issue, I never bring the charger with me (unless I'm traveling) and still have battery left at the end of the day - when running Windows in Parallels I seem to get down to about 65-70% within 2.5 hours, when running only Mac OS that's more like in the mid-80% area. I also have a more powerful desktop at home that I can always remote into if I need the processing power, so that's probably another reason why I'm not bothered by the sometimes slow performance of the MacBook when running some apps. People often times criticize me for buying an "overpriced Chromebook"; but, the MacBook handles well, better than most might think. Sure, I could have purchased another MacBook Pro for a bit more, or even a Windows laptop that would have way better specs for the price; but, the design of the MacBook Pro, it's portability, amazing display, awesome keyboard and trackpad, long lasting battery, and Apple's not so bad tech support make it completely worth it.

Great upgrade from MacBook Pro 2009
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I like how the actual MacBook is thinner and so light weight and easy to carry along in contrast to the very heavy MacBook Pro 2009 that I had before. The only draw back is there are only two ports (USB-C for power and slot for earphone). You need to purchase separately an adaptor to connect any of your external products (SD card, USB drive, etc.) to this MacBook. The sound is so much better than my old MacBook Pro 2009 and the picture quality seems better. Overall, I am satisfied with this purchase and with the discount I got from BestBuy, I think it was worth the upgrade!

Love the Gold color, super light & competent
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's no Macbook Pro, but hey, that may be a good thing this year. And MBP aren't available in Gold. This super light, long battery laptop is super competent and fast enough for most applications like surfing the web with multiple tabs on Safari, watching videos, and doing Word / Excel / Powerpoint. At first it got very hot after upgrading it to Mac Sierra due to the photos being downloaded from iCloud then the face detection took forever (a few days) and apparently can't be turned off. After that though, the laptop has run very cool and fast. And no fan noise is a nice side benefit! I've not been turned off by the lack of ports. With Airpods, it's very convenient to listen to music or watch videos. Also, I have a USB-C dongle that has HDMI, USB-C charger, and regular USB for Lightning port to iphone. I rarely use SD cards but the USB port worked perfectly with my SD card reader through the dongle. The ability to use external batteries that charge through USB-C is a definite plus vs traditional laptops that have their custom charger.

Last year’s model at great price!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Very happy with this purchase! Was initially going to get a MacBook Air. Wanted a more powerful processor. But also didn’t want a nearly 10 year old design that might not be updated all that much longer. Found this and was quite happy! Since last year’s model, was also able to get additional 10% off for my birthday. As far as the MacBook itself, Thought lack of USB ports might be an issue, but bought Apple converter/dongle and have barely had to use. Love MacOS and that all my Apple products are now in sync with iCloud!

LOVE THIS MACBOOK!!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Perfect size, strength, and capability for college! After reading the reviews and going to best buy, I was torn between the MacBook pro and this 12 inch retina display (in rose gold). I was nervous that this wouldn't have everything I need on it or not have the space for all of my needs. I online shop, take online classes, did the nursing program where all of our assignments are online all with this laptop and it was absolutely perfect. I never have to worry about it overheating. It fits perfectly in my lap no matter where I was to study. It has a really long battery life. I can have multiple windows open at once and I have never noticed it slowing down at all. This is perfect for people who don't make music or edit professional pictures. I didn't need the MacBook pro. I'm so glad I didn't let the guy at best buy sell me on the Pro because he was really trying but this is exactly what I needed! I actually bought a huge 27inch iMac as a home computer about 6 months before I bought this and now I kind of wish I hadn't because I literally never use it. Sometimes I'll play music on it but that's it. This is enough to be a main computer for a college student for sure.
