    APPLE CONVERT NEVER GOING BACK

    Posted
    NarrowFellow

I have NEVER owned an Apple computer. I have spent 34 years in my business and personal world using, first MS DOS, then MS Windows machines. IBM to Gateway to Dell. I made fun of Apple-hipsters and the Apple attitude. Well, with my purchase of this small MacBook Air at this sale price, I'm never going back to the MS+Windows world again. First: how I made this purchase decision. I need a personal device that is small and easily portable. I have found my dell 15" laptop to be too bulky for some things. This summer I'm doing a writing residency on Martha's Vineyard and I wanted a small tablet-sized device I could put in a small case, strap over my shoulder, and ride off with on a bike. So I started looking at tablets. non-computing machines like iPads, Android devices, and Windows 8 machines. But by the time you buy a really good machine+keyboard+other accessories needed, you're up in price close to the $939 sale price on this small MacBook Air. And with the tablets you still don't have a computer. So we came into our BestBuy here in St Matthews #Louisville, KY# and looked at the small MacBook Air. It was a no-brainer. Forget the tablets. I got a real computer. Now, after purchase, I had a learning curve. The Apple OS and user interface is slightly different that Windows. So I'm learning how to use it. Still learning. But let me tell you about this computer: * Apple is A+ #1 at marketing and packaging. This thing sizzles from the time you open the box. It's packaged like a fine piece of jewelry. Nobody does marketing and presentation like Apple. The packaging just makes you feel like you have purchased a superior product, and 90% of most purchase decisions are emotional. * The machine is made out of this single piece of metal. No plastic. It's lean and mean and NASA-esque. The build is superior to any other computer on the market. period. *Screen and graphics have a wow factor, even in such a small size. *The OS is just faster than anything I have ever experienced in office or at home. * It does some things automatically. On my Windows machine I had to use a driver disk and CD to get a new wireless printer up and working last January. This new Apple found the printer and it just started working automatically. I didn't have to do anything! * Same thing with an external hard drive. There are some apps built in and hidden like "time machine". I plugged an external HD in and this app comes up by itself that says "hey this is Time Machine and I am going to archive your entire Apple machine automatically at certain intervals for you". I didn't have to do anything. * Lighted keyboard. I don't have to keep lights on at night if I wanna sneek over and write a new poem. * Price. Did I mention price? For about the same price as top-end iPad+good keyboard etc. you can buy this real computer. Forget the Androids iPads or Win 8 tablets. Get this computer. * WORD and EXCEL. Bought the Mac version and they work flawlessly. * I will be buying a large 20"+ monitor and Bluetooth #built into the MacBook Air# for home use to make it easier to use for extended periods. It's an 11" machine with a tablet-sized monitor. Perfect for travel and portability - that's what you want a tablet for - not so good for 8 hours of hard work designing/coding web sites or editing a journal or book.

I was always a PC guy so I was skeptical about a mac but I needed one for work so I gave it a go. I have to say I didn't think I would like the mac but it is a very enjoyable experience once you get used to it. This macbook air is super fast, way faster the the specs would lead you to believe. the size and weight is amazing it so easy to move around and take anywhere. the battery life is pretty good too. The screen looks pretty decent but it always looks dirty when its not lit up, its super hard to clean but once you turn the screen on you cant tell at all. I really like the magnetic charger for the macs too, I have a puppy that loves to run around a million miles an hour and occasionally rips the cord out but since it easily pulls out it never damages the cord or the computer. the only things I could really complain about is that it is a bit pricey but you do get a great product for your money. the 64gb hard drive is very small, 128bg is very small too. you really need to invest in a portable usb hard drive. i got a nice 1TB HD with usb 3.0 for like $60 on sale and its pretty fast. Also it has no cd drive so if you need to use disks you have to buy an external cd drive but almost everything is available as a download nowadays so its not a big deal. Overall I'd say this is a great computer and I would recommend it to a friend. My primary use for it is Xcode to make games for iOS but I also surf the web and download music and it does it all exceptionally fast.

I use PCs for business but wanted a light wieght, light duty laptop for travel and for use away from the office. I have a netbook, but the performance was limited even after I replaced the hard drive with a solid state drive. The MAC OS has far more features than I will ever use, but it works well with Citrix for access to my office and with Microsoft Office for compatible Word and Excel documents and spreadsheets. It is fast and its features are well integrated. I hesitated about buying it because I did not know the Apple OS at all, but when Best Buy had a big sale, I decided to take a chance, and to take a free course at the local Apple Store initial training. In fact, I was able to figure out most of the basics before I took the course because the OS is so well thought out. Based on my experience, I would not be hestitant about considering an iMac when my home PC becomes obsolete.

I was looking for a second computer to use for internet, music, and movies while traveling for work. I have a MacBook Pro at home and love it. I didn't want to spend a lot of money, so I first purchased an I-Pad. That didn't work for me, I realized within a few hours that I wanted a real computer. So, despite the fact it was a few hundred dollars more, I returned the I-Pad one day later and bought the MacBook Air (by the way, Best Buy made this an easy process). This is an incredible computer; it's portable, fast, and easily connects to WiFi anywhere. I've had this computer for several months and it's as good now as the day I bought it. If you can do it, I'd recommend spending the extra hundred dollars to get the one with the 128 GB hard drive. 64 GB can go quickly if you download a lot of audio, video, and photographs.

It's super easy to use - I was a bit worried having been a PC user for this whole time and switching to a Mac but everything is great. It uploads, downloads, installs, boots up and overall is just super fast. The internal memory is not very large but with iCloud you have nothing to worry about . I have a professional grade camera and take tons of photos so I use an external hard drive as well to back up files and photos. I've had this Air for a little over a month now and overall it's been fantastic. My biggest worry was that it has no CD R drive like my laptop so I can't burn disks nor install software but the Air recognizes when you connect a device and made importing photos from my camera a breeze.

I really like this computer. I previously owned the original white macbook. This one is much thinner, there really is not a weight difference in my book bag with the macbook compared to my older, heavier white one. I think it is the perfect size! easy to type with the keyboard. Screen quality is fantastic. I gave my other one to my son. I bought this on sale for $938 which was actually cheaper than the student pricing on the Apple website by about $20. If you are writing papers and using it for school, buy it! You dont need much more storage than this with the technology of the USB drives. Saves in the same format as Word, so there is no problems printing papers or e-mailing them to teachers. Oh, and it is super fast for surfing the web, shopping, or your basic e-mail and Facebook.

I love this computer. I got it on a doorbuster sale of $200.00 cheaper. so it was only $799.00. I am a student, so having the size of it just fit right on top of my books is so easy and helpful. I thought that the 11" would be too small, but It is totally not even noticeable. Because of the full keyboard it seems very average sized. If you're looking into this computer for its size and pretty much all around performance, you are right for looking at this one. Its the cheapest one and its great. Mac is never a disappointment to me. I have a lot of apple products and this is my favorite by far.:) If you are a student or if you're just a person looking for a laptop to tag along with you places, this is a perfect computer for doing that. Highly recommend it!

This is the first Mac I've owned. I've used a few desktop Macs at various jobs, but most of the time I've used PCs for work and have stayed compatible with pc laptops and netbooks. But when you are moving from interview to interview carrying cameras and audio equipment plus a computer, purse, cables, chargers, etc., weight really matters. So MacBook Air put a smile on my face by being lighter than a netbook. As for working, I scrambled the brains of two netbooks and now I hate to use my third as I feel I have to touch it so gingerly or I will scramble it. I don't feel this fear with MacBook Air. The other reason I bought MacBook Air was that it's cross-platform now with Final Draft and Word. So I'm quite happy with becoming a Mac girl.

I bought this computer for my daughter, who is very tech-savvy. She loves it because it's light, but still does all she needs it to do. I have a Mac Book Pro, which I love, but was debating whether to get a Mac Book Air because of its greater portability. Not sure that I want to give up the DVD drive in favor of the lesser weight, though. We are an Apple family, as all of us have iPhones iPads and laptops. These products are incredibly easy to use, even for "old farts" like yours truly, who didn't grow up in the computer era. I was happy to buy this computer through Best Buy, as I paid a better price even with the Apple teacher discount.

I love my new laptop. I bought it so I would finally have a Mac and I could easily travel with it. The pharmacology lab I work in primarily uses macs, so I finally purchased one for myself (I like to able to work on stuff at home). I have to say the Mac to pc conversion is the biggest pain. I mostly uses Microsoft word, PowerPoint, and excel on it. I have no complaints so far. It's is extremely lightweight, has a great display and has a really long battery life. It turns on quickly when you open it and I LOVE the touch pad on it. It's so convenient to use the different swipe methods to move from screen to screen.

I purchased this laptop for personal use (I got a 13" at the same time for work use) and I can say that both laptops are amazing. The 13" is a little easier to work with for larger documents, the 11" is better for travel since it is smaller (a easier on the wallet). This machine has enough power to run both Adobe CS 6 and Office 2011 (which works with Microsoft Exchange with no issues). I have upgraded both machines to Snow Leopard and haven't had any issues.

This is my first Mac purchase. I was always comfortable with windows operating systems (all I knew). I have purchased 5 PC(s) within the last 8 years. I was tired of them crashing and finally decided to try a Mac. I am soooooo impressed with this computer. I will never buy another brand again. It is sleek, durable, has a super user friendly system, and is faster than the any high end PC I have ever purchased. This computer provides me everything I need and more. YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!!!

The MacBook air has been a great investment. First of all, it is so easy to manage and the customer service associated with Apple, Best Buy and geek squad give me the confidence of long term use. The MacBook can handle my QuickBooks, TurboTax and other programs needed for my small business and again it is so simple and sleek that there is no irritation using it. I have a tremendous amount of confidence in its durability and safety as I work online. If I could go back I would repurchase this same product again and again.

After having family and friends tell me how great the Apple products were, I finally made the conversion and now regret waiting so long. The Macbook Air is perfect in size for my needs. The transition to the Mac operating system was easier than I anticipated and has many advantages over the PCs I have used for years. I had also purchased an iphone and ipad just prior to getting the Macbook so the functions and apps are the same, and they sync with each other flawlessly. A great lap top.

I bought the MacBook Air after I received an email from best buy saying they were having a sale on Mac laptops. I went to my local best buy to check it out. I decided to go with the MacBook Air 11.6 " because it was lightweight, easy to use, a Mac, very portable, and I couldn't let a good deal go. I would recommend this laptop for college students or for people looking for a laptop that is easy to figure out how to use. Love love this product.

This is a dependable machine and is much more portable than my 17 inch HP. It's easy to carry around campus and paired with an external harddrive I can do everything I need to do on it. I use virtualization software on my external to run windows. It works better than I could expect. I love the backlit keyboard as it is helpful at night. I would recommend a external hd and a SuperDrive.

I'm very happy with my macbook air. It takes up less room in my bag and takes a lot of weight off of my shoulders. It's so lightweight I can't tell if it's my bag or not and forgot to bring it to school one day. I thought the monitor might be too small, but I barely notice the difference. I don't miss the cd drive either because I can use a usb for everything instead.

Very easy to set-up and use right out of the box. Very fast, especially on starting up, and shutting down. Unlike PC's, hardly any boot-up wait, or waiting to shut-down. Solidly built. Also, the power cord is magnetized, so it is virtually impossible for any of the connecting pins to be damaged or bent if the computer is disconnected at an angle, or held in an awkward position (unlike my Dell laptop, which this Mac Book Air replaced).

I have waited since 1985 for my Mac. Finally...! I loved it from the moment I took it out of the box. Yes, I DO wish it cost less, but EVERYTHING about this machine and all accessories are well designed and manufactured. I have struggled a bit with the OS, Mountain Lion (love those names). While there have been occasions that I have longed for the familiarity of Windows, they have been few and very fleeting.
