If you are looking for a laptop for travel or on the go then this is it... Its not exactly a powerhorse. But its exactly what you'd expect in this model. It's light, portable and very sleek. It is pretty quiet as well with excellent Battery life. The price is also significantly lower than the Pro,
All normal tasks that you would do like web browsing, movies, music, and web run very quickly and smoothly.

I wanted to replace my first generation macbook pro 15" laptop and was not sure if I wanted to buy the 13" macbook pro or the 13" macbook air. Well the air won because of portability. I needed a laptop to bring to class. I purchased the 2015 model and it is fast. I love the weight but adding the protective cover added some weight. Overall, I do not regret getting the air over the pro. I will get a imac desktop so it will make up for the specifications I do not get on the air. Everything will sync automatically so I will not miss out on all the options that the laptop does not have.

Apple has done it again. Beautifully designed, light, thin, and fast. Responsive when opening and is quite. Had a 15inch uni-body MBP prior an that thing made noise and got hot after using. Not this one! Got the on-sale at BB and saved $250 off the original price. The one thing I wish Apple had on the Air is a retina display. I was going back and forth between the Air and the new MB (12 inch) and the new MB just didnt do it for me. Bad keyboard and lack of ports lead me the Air.

I was upgrading from a 2011 Macbook air 11 inch and it's a nice upgrade. Battery lasts a long time. I have owned it for over a month now and still have not been able to drain the battery in one sitting. I have used the laptop in one sitting for about 5 hours and it still had about 40 percent left on the battery. The screen size is also perfect. Now that I have an iPad Air, I don't have a need for a 11inch macbook air and this 13 inch macbook air is perfect. The laptop is also light. Very easy to carry around. I use a HP Elitebook 1040 g1 for work and the Macbook Air 13 beats that laptop in every aspect. There's a reason why people pay premium for Apple products. The build quality can't be matched, even by HP's "elitebook" laptops. It's a shame. Wouldn't hesitate to buy another one for a family member.

Being a fan of apple products, I knew I was going to stick with their brand when I was shopping for a new laptop. I have an iMac now but wanted something that could be easily transported around. The MacBook Air is a great little laptop. It's super fast, light, easy to use. The only thing I don't like about the newer apple products is the lack of a CD drive. You can buy an external one, but would rather have one built in.

Possibly the perfect computer...

I purchased this computer for my professional degree program, as previously I only had a desktop computer. I looked for quite some time at less expensive PC's and the more expensive Macbook Pro. I decided to take the gamble after seeing how many students in my school had rather old Macbooks in perfect working order and no issues. I have not been disappointed. It does everything a student needs and far more, and it does it well and without issue. The battery life is near unreal, with a full charge lasting me through an 8 hour school day and well into the night, even going so far as charging my phone during the day. The display is perfect, and the only time I even notice a difference between my Air and other computers is when directly next to each other, and the difference is small at best. The size and weight are remarkable, this computer is near imperceptible when being carried. However, its build quality is fantastic and I never have a worry when carrying, which due to its small size I am able to carry in a book bag along with a full array of medical school textbooks and supplemental material.
I summary, if you are a basic to intermediate computer user, and the most important qualities for your laptop are the following: ease of portability, sturdy build, great battery life, point and click operation with little to no effort- then I do not see how you can go wrong with this computer. The additional factor influencing my decision was that I own an Apple Imac desktop, which has been used by myself and two children since 2011 with no errors or issues.

best value of the MacBook line

As stated above, among the MacBook family, the 13 in. Air offers the best mix of portability, performance, battery life, for the price. The new MacBook is sleeker with a retina display, but with the USB-C as its sole port, it's not worth the price:performance ratio in my opinion. The Pros are always nice, but a dedicated GPU is only really necessary for people doing stuff like CAD, music, etc. For 90% of people who buy Apple laptops, they're checking facebook, reading email, or using it as a work machine, which means a retina display or dedicated GPU are unnoticeable.
The 13 in. Air offers the best battery life, meaning you can actually carry it all day for work without having to be tethered to a power cable, and for word processing or even Netflix on that screen size, the non-retina display hardly gets noticed.

I recently gave in & switched to Apple & I'm completely in love. The battery life is amazing, when they say 13hrs they mean it. It runs pretty fast as well. it's the perfect size, it doesn't overheat, its lightweight! there's so much space I don't even know what to do with myself. this definitely won't be my last apple purchase.

I spent half of the year on the road so I need a light weight laptop. My company laptop is too heavy(about 10 lbs I think) so this Macbook Air is the perfect solution. At first, I was a little skeptical about the processor speed, limited ram and storage capacity. I stopped by a Best Buy store close to my house to test out the unit. I managed to open a 380 slides Powerpoint presentation stored in an USB 3.0 drive in 60 seconds with Keynote. I just want to point out that this presentation has a lot of graphics and the fact that it only took 60 seconds to open and convert from Powerpoint to Keynote is quite impressive. In order to expand the storage capacity, I paid $21 for a 128 GB USB 3.0 drive and now I have 256 GB capacity. The 4 GB ram has not been a problem for me so far as I try not to operate too many applications at the same time. I also have Microsoft Office 2015 installed and it has been working out very nicely.
I bought it when BestBuy offered a $200 discount, I also opened a Best Buy credit card to take advantage of a 10% discount on the first purchase. For the price, this is an excellent choice for road warriors who do a lot of word processing, presentation and spreadsheet work. Please note that there is no Ethernet connection on this laptop so I bought a $20 USB 3.0 to Ethernet adapter and problem solved! Although, the adapter took away one of the 2 USB ports but it comes with 3 USB ports in addition to the Ethernet connection.
I am very satisfy with the purchase!

This is my first Apple computer since the early 80's when I convinced my parents to buy an "Apple IIe." I've had many PC's since both at home and for work.
It was time to get a new laptop for business (I'm a real estate broker). Since I already use an iPhone and iPad, I decided to look into the MacBook. I love the low weight of the MacBook Air, but wanted the larger 15" screen and faster processing of the MacBook Pro (still light, but heavier than the "Air").
The pluses are plentiful:
> User friendly (once you get used to the differences)
> Great look and feel
> LOVE the touchpad (Force Touch Trackpad) - bought my wife and daughter MacBook Air's and don't like those touchpads nearly as well.
> Quick start up (don't have to wait for Windows to load, much more instant access like the iPhone and iPad)
> Doesn't run hot - this was big and surprising. Every other laptop I've owned gets hot. Not this one.
> Extremely Quiet - no whiring hard drives or fans. I don't remember the right terms, but it uses technology more like flash drives rather than a hard drive that spins around, so it is faster, quieter, and runs cooler.
> Long battery life. Can't believe I almost forgot to include this. I can use my MacBook for more than 6 hours (actually USING it the whole time) before I am down to 20% battery life or so and need to "plug in." The way the cord attaches is with magnets, which is kind of cool, but it does come "unplugged" a little too easily sometimes.
A few minuses:
> It does take some getting used to. Everything is in a different place compared to the PC world. Having the iPhone and iPad for the past 4 years or so definitely helped ease me into the iOS world, but it still takes some time to re-learn for this middle-aged dog.
> The storage of files, pictures, creating folders, etc has proved a little more cumbersome than anything else I've run into on the Mac. This may be because I haven't learned the best/fastest/easiest way yet, but right now it is not intuitive for me.
> Price - I guess you could use the old adage that you get what you pay for, but this thing ain't cheap. Buying a PC for a similar price, the storage, "speed" and features would all be much higher on the PC, but the numbers can be a little deceiving. Most PC laptops use the typical hard drive, and wouldn't have most of the pluses I included above.
That's about it. Very happy with the purchase. If you are thinking of switching from PC to Mac, I encourage you to jump. If you don't like it, take it back within the return window (I think around a couple weeks at Best Buy). That was my attitude, and I'm glad I made the leap.

I have purchased many windows laptops before but in two years or less, they are sluggish, can't keep up with the speed they originally performed at or end up with viruses that even the anti virus programs miss. Recently, one of my children wanted a personal laptop for school and personal use. This was a perfect opportunity to get a MacBook. Fewer worries and it will last for a few more years than a Windows machine.
The MacBook is amazingly fast, easy to use, like any other Apple product, light weight and has a 13 inch display which is a great size for any type of work or activity you want to do.
This is a great investment that will go a long way!

An Extraordinary Apple MacBook Improvement

Words escape me to describe the major improvements incorporated into the new "lightweight" Apple MacBook Air laptop computer. From my perspective, nothing has been lost in this laptop of importance other than the absence of an internal CD/DVD reader which must have contributed greatly to the weight reduction achieved versus the older MacBook Laptops. However, an inexpensive attachment (USB Superdrive) is available which fully meets my infrequent need for that application. It is noteworthy that sufficient other changes have been made internally to the "AIR" to greatly reduce (to hardly perceptible) the heat produced versus the older MacBook Laptops. Also, the extended battery life of the MacBook Air is a very welcome improvement. I can't think of any functions missing from this laptop that I would ever need. A good friend recommended I stop lugging around my old MacBook Laptop and replace it with the "AIR." I hope others who haven't discovered the benefits of this laptop do so...perhaps as a result of this review.

I purchased at the $800 sale price and am very pleased so far. The air is lightweight and quick. Not sure of the advertised battery light yet, but definitely is much better than my 15.6" PC laptop. Wish I could have afforded to go a little larger on the memory and storage, but for my intended use the current configuration should be more than enough.

Our family has basic computer needs: internet browsing for school and work including research, videos, learning apps. Home video editing and photo editing. Net-working for work. The computer has excellent battery life. It is reliable. We use a free antivirus. It does not crash. Super fast boot-up with solid state drive. 4 GB ram works great as OS X doesn't run multiple programs simultaneously in background. Lightweight. Feels great typing. Fantastic track pad. Since we don't use it for gaming, can't comment on its performance for this. No problems so far with Office for Mac, for us, yet. 128 GB of storage is not much of a problem as we use an external drive due to all the home videos and photos we shoot. FaceTime camera is fair and needs an upgrade. I use both Mac and Microsoft laptops. Microsoft laptops typically "out feature" Macs, but with the Mac integrated design, the MacbookAir just seems to work better, more reliably. Whether it works more intuitively is a matter of personal preference and opinion. Current Mac software does not seem as intuitive as the past. Our last MacbookAir outlasted 3 Microsoft laptops, so the price premium actually is not bad at all, especially when its on sale.

I got this for college and it is the perfect size and has all of the features I could want or need. It is lightweight, so it is great for packing around campus. Great speed, easy to use and great battery life. Light weight. Much improvement over our old Del laptop. The only problem I had was transferring files from our old laptop. It transferred it over as a second user so I needed some Apple support to get it fixed. They were helpful, just had to wait 15 minutes on hold.

I was looking at other computers but ultimately was sold on this one for the connectivity and compatibility with my iPhone, and the included native software. So far the battery life has been more than I need, it is sleek and light and a much-needed upgrade over my previous laptop. Sound is very good and it is relatively intuitive to jump from a Windows to a Mac. Also am happy with the Remote Disk feature, so I can use the optical disk drive from my old laptop if I needed to access CD's since this macbook doesn't have one. I have only used it moderately up to this point but it runs swiftly and without incident. The screen is perfectly clear and the size suits my needs with Photoshop just fine. It is an investment that I am sure will last me awhile! Am very happy with it.
