I got the MacBook Air for my boyfriend for Christmas and he loves it! His last laptop was a Mac that lasted around 12 years and it was on it's last leg, so this was a no brainer. With him being loyal to Apple and having converted me into a Mac believer in the past year, the only real decision was which one to buy. He loves how light and portable the Air is and takes it everywhere. The speed and ease of use are fantastic, and the real selling point is the reliability you get buying a Mac. The guys at the store were great and didn't try to oversell me, which I appreciate. They answered all my questions and assured me that this version was exactly what he needed for pretty basic use. Overall, this was the perfect present and I would recommend it to anyone.

I love this laptop! Its so easy to use and the battery on it is great. I press the ON button and it powers within seconds.I love how i can start looking at something on my phone and then continue looking at it on my laptop. I take it everywhere i go. Its so slim it fits in a purse , backpack or just a carry case. At home its nice to be able to move around the house and not be stuck on a desktop to search or finish work on. Even after using it after a couple hours it doesn't even get hot while on your lap. It is definitely worth every dollar. The screen is great and i love that the charger has a magnet that clicks on super easy. No more fiddling with the cable and struggling to make sure it is going in the right way. Plus it charges super fast.

I always hated Apple... so much so that after my Creative Labs Zen mp3 player died and I needed a replacement, I left the iPod in the packaging for almost 2 years before I begrudgingly decided to put the iPod to use. I just hated that they seemed to have such a hold on market share in new and exciting products.... and the price. It was always easy to say no to Apple and add my 2 cents into their pricing. Like all things Apple, it turned out the iPod was an upgrade from what I had been using. Then when I had a printer die and got a gift card from best buy due to having purchased the Geek Squad plan, I had some left over after buying a new printer and tried an AppleTV. Superb product, and something I realized at that point was that Apple products just work together - seamlessly - particularly when a friend came by with his iPhone and it streamed over wifi in a manner that Win products wouldn't do and that in my experience Android products did (sometimes), but much less effectively. I had DLNA windows machines and DLNA certified home theater equipment but still... when it would stream it lasted a short spurt and there were always problems / work arounds that needed to be done. So I got an iPhone. I was disappointed that my Android device, while at that time and superior storage capabilities, couldn't integrate well even when hard wired to an aux jack in the car to play music. iPhone fixed that issue and low and behold, I am now a bonafide apple "fanboy". I now use my old iPhone 5 as a secondary dedicated web surfer / music / app player, and my SE as my main portable device. I had been so impressed by the iPhone 5's capabilities (I made 64 gb work in the interim), that in 2014, I bought a MacBook Pro. 3 years and one month after that purchase I'm writing this review (Air) on that (Pro) laptop. This Pro works better at 3 years than any Win machine I've ever owned worked after a few months. Here I apologize for the long winded nature of this review, but I can't impress upon others enough how well Apple products work and work together and the fact that they... well, as many Apple fans say, they just work! I was so impressed with my Pro that as I was readying to return to academics at a local university 20 years after graduating from high school, and by having been plagued by Win machines deciding to just up and croak, I purchased this MacBook Air. It wasn't a necessity, but with an elderly parent to take care of, full time student status and working full time, I wanted to have a backup laptop at the ready and to take to and from school / work and retire my Pro to being a machine only used at home. Time will likely show that the Air was an extraneous and unnecessary purchase, because I'm sure the Pro will continue to work like a pro for many a moon to come... but with 4 iPhones, 2 Apple TVs, an iPod that was purchased in 2005 and a 3 year old Pro ... all that still run better than any brand new Windows, HP/LG/webOS, Android I've ever owned.. Apple just works and keeps working like no other consumer electronic products I've ever owned. Furthermore, I use and see apple products being used i.e. iPad in ways far more meaningful than the ability to stream music to my home theater receiver via AppleTV or tuning my guitar with an app. I see the miracle of communication, and simply improvement of quality of life occurring in my career working with folks that have suffered brain injuries. Long story short from an apple hater converted to an apple "fanboy", would I recommend this MacBook Air? You bet I would. If it has that Apple logo, I know I can't go wrong. I suspect that in having spoken with other Apple users, in the next year I'll upgrade my Pro to go to 8 or 16 gb ram and maybe upgrade the SSD to 512gb; from 4 & 128, but that in 3 more years I'll still be using it seamlessly. If not, I know I have a solid workhorse in the Air I just purchased that I should get an easy 5-7 years out of. Overall, you'll spend more, but I have come to view Windows machines as something to buy on short order with short $ as a temporary bandaid for computing; whereas purchasing a Mac is a long term investment / solution.

Converting My Family From PC to Mac

I bought my first Mac Computer 22 years ago and have never looked back. It was the best decision I have ever made regarding computer purchases. Two years ago, I bought a MacBook Air for my parents who are in their 80's and wanted a computer that was easy to use. I recently purchased the MacBook Air with a 13.3" Display (8GB Memory - 128GB Flash Storage) for my brother who was a PC user and was constantly being hacked and hijacked for money to fix his computer by the hackers. I suggested the MacBook Air and he is thrilled with his new computer although it is taking him a little time to adjust to the differences between the 2 platforms. yes, you can teach an old dog need tricks! I highly recommend this computer.

This MacBook is thin and light. Used to have a 2010 MacBook Pro and this one is 20% of that weight. I use my MacBook for word processing, updating things online, and for some light photos. Processor is fast and I experience very little lag time with opening large files. Best purchase I've made from Apple.

Just switched over from being a Windows user for 11 years. Smoothest transition ever. There are just so many neat shortcuts on the keyboard that make navigation through windows/pages much easier. I never use my mouse anymore since I can now access any page with some quick taps/sweeps of the touch-pad.
Pros:
1. The battery life is amazing (9+ hours)
2. Extremely portable
3. Anti-dust, or at least appears to be (
4. With your Best Buy credit points earned from this purchase, you can purchase a 5 TB hard drive and resolve any space issues.
Cons:
1. Very mainstream (prepare to be surrounded at any coffee shop by swarms of Mac users)

This is the best laptop hands down for college. I tried the MacBook Pro, but the size was a bit inconvenient. This fits perfectly in my backpack and really lightweight. The processor is super fast, and it's compatible with Google Chrome and other browsers I need for school. Wouldn't have it any other way.

I bought this laptop for school this fall, so I haven't been able to use it for that yet, but in the meantime, I have really enjoyed it for personal use! I had been going back and forth on purchasing a Macbook for years. Previously, I was on a Lenovo PC and I was comfortable with it, but now that I have a Mac, I don't think I will ever go back. Switching from a PC to a Mac was definitely an adjustment, but now that I have had it for about a month, I am comfortable with the new system. It makes it easy to work on projects that require multiple screens and the battery lasts forever.
My old laptop was 17", so I really couldn't take it anywhere with me--it didn't fit into any of my bags. What's the point of having a laptop if you can't take it anywhere?! This one is 13", so I can easily fit it into any of my purses or bags. It was more pricey than other laptops, but so far, it is well worth it. I got it on sale and with a College Student Discount, so it came out to under $1200 for the laptop, Apple Care, and the Microsoft Office Suite for Mac. I would definitely recommend this to a friend!

I'd been contemplating buying an iMac computer for months. Finally after talking with a very knowledgable Apple representative at Best Buy, I decided to just go for it. I am very impressed with how easy it was to use, the speed of the processor, and the way it works and communicates with my other iMac devices. It was also very easy to transfer all of my files from my Windows system over to the new device. It's very light weight and the battery life is nothing short of amazing. One of the best computer purchases I've ever made and I'm sure it will last for quite some time. I highly recommend talking with a rep at Best Buy and taking a closer look if you're considering a purchase.

We've never been an Apple family, but slowly we've acquired more and more of their products over the years. This MacBook is a great example of a product that will last my mother years. Rather than spending $500 every 2 years for an inferior Windows laptop, we spent a little more and picked this up on sale. Needless to say, it's been a great investment for my mom's business and the integration with her iPhone is top notch.
This laptop is light, quick, and reliable. You can't go wrong with this pick.

This is my first Mac anything. I saw the price drop on this after helping a neighbor and friend with his decision in purchasing one.
Pros: This Mac still has the older USB ports and an SD card. The new Macbook Pros, if I understand correctly, have a new type of USB and don't have the SD card option, which would suck for me because everything I have uses these older types of USBs and I just got a decent camera and it uses an SD card (I don't use cloud storage for photos or anything else for that matter).
Another Pro was the price. On sale it was $750. Another is the functionality between this and my iPhone.
Yet another Pro is batter life. Used correctly and efficiently (this might take some research if you're a noob like me) the Air can really make a batter go the distance. Note: I love Chrome, but it'll drain your battery on here much faster than Safari, so keep that in mind if you want to use it. I still have it, but I rely on Safari if I'm going battery-less.
Con: Granted, the screen resolution isn't as vivid as these retinas, but for me, it's not a big issue. This screen is tiny and I'm only on here so many hours a week. It's still HD. I mainly use this for school-related activities and basic computing. If I was using a Mac for a lot of professional work or highly involved personal-interest activities, and if I felt I could afford it, maybe I'd go after one with the better resolution displays, such as with the MacBook Pros. But haviing now helped a neighbor get this very computer than I now have as well as helping him acquire and set up and learn a few basics on his new MacBook Pro (he got the Air to give to his wife), I can't see the point in spending an additional $1100 on the Pro over this.
Another con is the very small amount of storage. I have an external hard drive though. And, honestly, I tend to collect junk. This will help me be more efficient with my software and stored files. So this can has a sliver lining. I just wish it had a little more space, nonetheless.

I adore my MacBook Air. It has all the features you could need in a laptop but in a slim and sleek package. Somethings take a little longer to load, but it is not slow. I love it and would recommend it to anyone in need of a reliable laptop who is constantly on the go.
