I chose to purchase the previous year model because I want standard USB drive and it helped keep the cost down to get the larger storage space. My previous Macbook lasted 7 years, and may have been fixable, nonetheless, despite a higher price point my Macs always far outlast any Windows machine in the house and wind up being a better value in the long run.
