All in all, the new Macbook Air for 2020 is a capable machine for everyday tasks. Unboxing: Apple's traditional unboxing experience applies to this device. The unboxing experience is first class. Screen: A beautiful retina display that gets pretty bright, bright enough for any indoor situation as long as you're not in direct sunlight. Outdoors, the device is still usable. The nits are close to 400 nits, which is less than the Macbook Pro. Performance: The Macbook Air dual core i3 performed well for basic tasks/web browsing, however, heavier tasks like Photoshop, Video editing, and heavy development and the Macbook Air does get pretty warm, and could throttle under heavy loads. This machine is capable of basic tasks/basic photo editing, but larger projects with more layers and it struggles. Heavy editing is not the goal of the Macbook Air. Battery Life: Excellent. Running the screen at very bright levels will make it deplete quicker as well as intensive tasks, but overall it is very good should last you most if not all day. Build Quality: Very good, another strength of the Macbook line, it has a very sturdy and premium feel. Keyboard: Much better this year vs the butterfly keyboards of last year, more travel, more reliability, and excellent back light make this keyboard awesome to use. Trackpad: Best in the business, the force trackpad is large and very responsive, gestures work great and you can click anywhere on the track pad. Overall, the Macbook Air is a good device as long as you're not expecting too heavy of workloads, if you're constantly doing heavier tasks, the Macbook Pro is a better choice, but overall this is an excellent device.

Tired of replacing windows laptops and chrome books so we made the investment in a MacBook and couldn’t be happier with our decision! After lots of issues in spring with multitasking video calls and other apps this device handles everything quickly and flawlessly. It’s lightweight and sleek with a great display and smooth keystrokes. AirPods pair flawlessly as do printers so it’s been a breeze to use. Hopefully this is the last device we buy for a long time to come!

Even though the newer MacBook Air is out with the M1 chip, I decided to go for last gen’s i3 because it was on special. Coming from a 2012 MacBook Pro model this is undoubtedly an upgrade. Apple’s design certainly does not disappoint. I wasn’t sure about the Gold color but ended up loving it. Even though the laptop is made of a full aluminum chassis, it is very light and easy to handle. I do worry a bit about the glass-like Apple logo as it seems that it may scratch easily. The top is rather stiff, and it takes two hands to open, which I find a tiny bit annoying. The keyboard takes half the layout, and the black keys are well spaced. The touchpad is one of the biggest ones out there, which I really appreciate. As always, Apple has the built quality well covered. Unfortunately, the MacBook Air only has 2 USB-C ports. One is used for power and that leaves only one port. This is a bit of an inconvenience as I had to get an IO dongle. There is also a 3.5mm audio jack, which is nice to have, even if I have gone fully wireless. The typing experience is simply amazing. The keys are very responsive and have a nice spring to them. The trackpad is also highly responsive and clicking on it feels great. This is the one thing that truly separates it from the rest, in my opinion. I must say that the camera is rather mediocre, being only 720p. While it works OK for facetime, I can’t do streaming as it is too grainy in dark settings and the angle is narrow. So, now I have an external cam plugged into the dongle, but makes it a bit more cumbersome. As far as performance and specs (i3, 8GB RAM, 256GB), I wouldn’t say they are the best, but good enough for what I need. I do not use a laptop for video/sound editing, coding, or graphics. I do a lot of web-based work, emails, and write a lot. I also watch media content on the couch or in bed, which is how I believe this laptop works best. The screen, which has a resolution of 2560 x 1600 (Retina), is very crisp, vibrant, bright, and quite reflective as well. I like the screen's 3:2 format because it shows more of webpages than the standard 16:9. The sound coming out of this laptop is still top-notch, loud and clear, with a little bit of bass, which is uncommon for most laptops. In the end, the MacBook Air is not a powerhouse in specs, lacks inputs/outputs, and has a mediocre cam, making it perhaps difficult to recommend to someone who needs a high-end PC’s performance. However, for most tasks -even work-related, this laptop is more than enough. I would not immediately recommend it at the normal retail price, given that the new M1 chip version is out there. However, if you can get it on special, it makes for a great purchasing decision.

Needed a new MacBook to replace my old one that I've had since 2012. This MacBook is so much lighter and easier to transport and carry. I am able to work on all of my coursework for my PhD and research for my assistantship from home during this pandemic thanks to my new, trusty MacBook Air. I love some of the new and updated features like the Touch ID, but I am sad that there is no USB port and that Apple is always changing the chargers they make for computers and phones alike...

I previously owned a MacBook Pro (2013) when I started undergrad. That laptop lasted me about 6 years and then I made the switch to Lenovo when it was time to get a new laptop for my Master's program. I chose the Lenovo due to the touch screen, fingerprint feature, and sleek design. However, I was very unhappy with the fact that that laptop basically only functioned for a year and recently just crashed and broke down on me (no damage to the computer whatsoever. I then decided I would make the switch to the reliable apple laptop. I went with the Macbook air because this laptop is sleek and light. It is definitely easy to carry around and provides me with the tools I need to be successful in school. I love that this laptop has fingerprint recognition (a feature my last Lenovo laptop has, but that one only worked like a week and then the fingerprint pad just stopped working & never started working again). That being said, this laptop has been very reliable for me so far and I haven't had any complications. It is very user friendly and the display is super nice. It's safe to say that apple by far has the best products when it comes to phones or laptops. So glad I ditched my Lenovo for this new MacBook. If you are a student or someone who is working from home during this pandemic, I highly recommend getting one of the new Apple laptops! I am very satisfied with my purchase.

I spent a lot of time researching this, coming from a 12 inch MacBook. Based on the reviews, almost all of which recommended upgrading at least the processor to the i5 or higher, I was very concerned about the performance on this computer. I am now convinced that an upgrade would have been wasted on me. I run basic word processing, movies, music, etc, and constantly have many windows and many programs running simultaneously. I often run an external monitor and flip back and forth between them. I do not use photoshop or the like, but I do use the photo app frequently. Nothing I have done (even trying) has managed to tax the processor, or even kick on the fan. I would say, if you have to ask, you probably don't need anything above the base. Those who need more power know who they are. "Normal" day-to-day computing tasks will be handled with ease.

It’s perfect, light weight and thin. Does everything I need it do. I went from a 2015 MacBook Pro to the 2020 MacBook Air with some hesitation. I got accustomed to Pro but after several months of debating the newer models of the pro and air had the slightest differences that made zero difference for my personal usage so I opted for the slightly cheaper option of the two, the Air, and am very happy with my decision even after a few months of having it.

I have a MacBook Pro that wasn’t that old but was barely working. After relenting for too many months I started to research a replacement. I couldn’t be happier with this model. It’s definitely quick and has so much more improve speed from what I am used to! It’s small, lightweight and efficient. I use it just for basic functions and I’m not doing any graphics or gaming.

I own an iMac and never thought I would get a MacBook, but once my laptop broke, I couldn’t find a good windows laptop that I could afford. This is perfect if you are up to date with technology. The fingerprint reader makes life so much easier. I can close me laptop and walk away from it, then use my fingerprint to unlock it. That’s perfect. The size, weight, and color is also perfect for me. I got the rose gold color. Love it!

I purchased this for school after previously owning a 2015 model, and I could not be halted with the upgrade. It’s even faster, even more reliable, and the retina screen is the best upgrade, not to mention Touch ID is just perfect. My only complaint, literally, is that the new USB-C charging cord doesn’t have a charging indicator. I miss the orange and green lights, but it really is a minor complaint, all in all.
