I just received my MacBook Air about an hour ago and got it all set up and this thing runs smooth! Not quite as smooth as my Ryzen 3600 gaming desktop, but I didn't buy it to use in that way! For the basic tasks so far this thing performs great! Keyboard and trackpad are awesome and first time on a Mac is super smooth so far very happy camper! Don't listen to the youtubers who say the base underperforms cause I haven't seen anything but smooth smooth smoothness!

I originally bought this a few days before college courses started since all of my classes are online, and I love it. It’s fast, has enough storage, looks nice and is reliable. At first I throughout it would be a little small since I’m used to Macbook Pros, but now I love it!

I have been wanting a MacBook for years. I finally bought one. I love it and will never go back to windows. Each thing you open, opens smoothly and fast. I have had no issues. The color is beautiful and the Touch ID is so handy.

I purchased this in April of 2020, and so far I've been very happy with my macbook air. I was a little bummed out to find out a newer version with M1 was released a couple of months ago...but I'm still very happy with my purchase 8 months later, and I don't really see the point in upgrading within the same year lol. I work from home and use it for school so this is more than enough for my daily tasks.. My favorite part is the rose gold color! It's my favvvv:) Having the entire Apple eco system is pretty awesome, I can sms and imessage from and to my laptop, photos are automatically uploaded from the icloud and my airpods pro switches off from my computer, phone, ipad pro, and iwatch with zero effort on my part, like it knows what device I'm using... and I can zoom in/out super close with the pinch or expand motion on the track pad...ugh just so many things with this laptop I can ramble on and on about lol I'm very happy with my macbook air! Great Apple products :)

The Apple Macbook Air (i3) is a great computer for college. It can handle writing programs, notes and other various applications well. The Touchpad is particularly nice and useful, which I did not at all expect. The size of the computer is very nice, and can easily be transported. The only "negative" I have to say is that it tends to get hot and run the fan when you run a bigger application (for example, Minecraft; I had to change the graphics settings to help the computer out a bit). The fan turned on very quickly after I launched the app. But this is understandable, since it is only an i3. Advice: If you want to run some bigger programs, opt for a better interior processor.

I wold never buy a laptop other than a MacBook Air, so this is perhaps a biased review in that regard. The setup process was so easy; especially liked how easily it connected to existing WiFi; no need to type in addresses, etc. Bought a USB 3 adapter for the Thuderbolt ports to transfer files on flash drive from old MacBook. The audio and video are spectacular; listen to smooth jazz many hours/day - unbelievable quality including stereo; watch several channels on Sling - excellent. The retina display provides spectacualr resolution and color. Found out TouchID is not a good solution for me personally as I do constant house and garden work and my fingers are typically cut up and/or puckered from water, therefore my fingerprint is constantly changing. Things I wish were more like the late 2014 MacBook Air this replaced: speed of startup and shut down are quite a bit slower; trackpad - this one is pretty "stiff," and Apple support said that was a design feature of the new model to decrease unintended trackpad responses; as the hard drive is SSD, Secure Empty Trash is no longer available as it puts too much wear and tear on SSD devices. This model is definitely much more advanced than the old one; I'm very happy to have moved on and up! Left MS Office behind on the old MacBook; Apple's Numbers and Pages apps are great substitutes.

First, the good part: The same high quality I expect from Apple MacBooks. The software (OD Catalina) is even better than its predecessor, especially the breaking of iTunes into dedicated programs (Music, TV). I especially love that when you connect the iPhone, it shows up in the Finder. This was long overdue but, on the plus side, it works like a charm. For that, it deserves 5 stars. The bad: Apple now controls your computer. You cannot delete pre-installed software, such us Apple News. Worth mentioning that this is possible on the iPhone! I understand that, for security purposes, parts of the core OS cannot be changed even as administrator (sudo/root). I will not get into that. My point is, there is no need to make Apple News part of that.

Apple computer's by far are the best in the market for those who are already within the Apple ecosystem, however even for those who don't have many other Apple products or use many Apple services, the MacBook Air is still a really good laptop for those looking to do things such as work related things such as making presentations, working on docs, doing school work, etc. it can handle light photo editing and video editing, however the fan will go off which is pretty loud at times. If you are considering something for editing photos and videos and doing work that is more on the heavy-duty spectrum, I would recommend either taking a look at an intel-based MacBook Pro, or try checking out Apple's brand new M1 based MacBook's, which are significantly faster than this Intel-based laptop, due to the fact that M1 is a chip developed by Apple themselves, and if ultimately gives them better control over performance due to the fact Apple of course makes their own software, MacOS. The speakers on this unit are really good and loud, I was surprised, for laptop speakers they are pretty good because they have a really nice stereo sound to them, the bass is decent. As for the display, it is pretty average, nothing too special, it is colorful but blacks could be deeper, feels a little washed out. Overall, a good laptop for the average consumer, however if you are looking for something high-end check out something like the intel-based MacBook Pro, or Apple's M1 MacBook Air or Pro

Lots of choices, different MacBooks, different processors, screen sizes, memory....it can get confusing, Here's the thing, if you need a laptop for mobility this is the one to get. If you have a creative job and you edit professional videos you need a high level 16 MacBook Pro. And not the base one. For this rest of us the majority of what we wish to do such as basic photos and video editing, music mixing and business apps can be done with this. There are plenty of YouTube videos showing people working this this exact i3, 8 GB system being creative and productive. Great screen, fast, terrific keyboard and build quality, lots of apps pre-loaded in MacOS...and $850! What's not to love.

Bought this in the summer of 2020.....brand new release.....then a better one came out five weeks later. I give on trying to keep up. I wish that they hadn’t removed the usb port. Its still a thing, ya know? I am over dongles. The slim feature is nice but whats the point when I need a bulky carrying case for THE DANG DONGLES?! Put the USB back. Im still trying to catch up my iphone model. Us poor students do not all have lightning connections. And why the heck did you get rid of the light up Apple. I finally catch up to a semi current model and you took away the pazazz?! (Insert eyeroll) These are little nit picky things that I hate, but overall I wouldn’t change it for a Windows computer. So I guess I’ll accept speed over the little things. But good lord, Apple, it’s not ok to release features bit by bit over a year. Just put all the new features on one for the year. Im afraid to buy a new one because two weeks later, the new one will come with levitation features. (Inserts another eyeroll) Anyways, its pretty ok. My 2015 did pretty much the same thing but a fingerprint reader thats cool, I guess.

I have mixed feelings about which Best Buy Store you shop at. Ava, at the Store in Tustin, CA was great at explaining and helping me get my computer, showing it to me, answering my questions and getting the accessories I needed. She was very well informed and answered all of my questions while being polite and professional. They did not have Geek Squad Techs available to set up my computer so I got a time for the following day at the Costa Mesa,CA store. I had the Geek Squad, Costa Mesa, CA store transfer information from my old HP and set up my new computer. They accomplished it in a day. They were not helpful about explaining anything to me and didn't tell me what I needed to know. I went back the next day to the Tustin, CA store and Brenda was wonderful in giving me information and answered all of my questions and encouraged me to come back if I needed more help. I had to get Wi FI on my home motem which involved COX Communications. I could not get through to them by phone for 3 days and when I finally did I got a tech person Mike from Witchata, Kansas who helped me connect the Wi Fi successfully. so now I just need to connect my printer. My biggest concern with Best Buy is that you CANNOT talk to anyone by phone and it almost made me go elsewhere to get my computer. I am not a highly tech trained person and I really did need to talk to a person and see the computer to decide if it was the right one for me. Best Buy made that not very easy with Covid and your no phone policy. The Geek Squad Manager in the Costa Mesa,CA store was very rude and short to me with abrupt sentences and kept me far beyond the Covid space while telling me he did not have much time for me and had other customers coming in for appointments. However, there was no other people waiting to be helped and there were other Geek Squad Agents walking around. i gave up on him and was glad to be treated so much better at the Tustin, CA Store the next day. You have great people there named Ava and Brenda!

This MacBook Air is a quality piece of equipment, especially compared to my Lenovo laptop. It has a sturdy feel, the lighted keyboard is great, the screen is small but very clear and brilliant, and the few times I’ve been able to use it it seems very snappy. I know some people are in to the difference between the Intel v. Silicone chip but I doubt I’d ever notice the difference. My only complaint is that getting used to a Mac from a Windows machine is a bit more complicated than I thought. I bought this MacBook Air because my Windows laptop was frustratingly slow. I ended up buying a new SSD hard drive for it after I already bought the Mac and the speed issues are now gone - it was amazing how much difference the $55 SSD drive made. As a result I don’t use the Mac as much as I thought I would, especially since it doesn’t have the programs I regularly use. I’m sure this will eventually change and I’ll eventually appreciate the Mac qualities.

I am so happy I have not rushed my purchase and settled on the 2019. I am very PLEASED with my purchase, and the fact it is Open Box...it is just as great as if it were not. I highly recommend, and I HAVE NO ISSUES with it. If you are struggling with picking between this and the i5 , I say this one is fantastic. I was doubtful because I wanted to run the Sims and it runs smoothly. Overall, this was the best purchase I have made over this quarantine.
