I really like apples user in the user interface for their laptop, but the MacBook Air specifically has a lot of trouble keeping up with my daily tasks. And I only run basic programs. My recommendation is if you're going to invest the money, just buy the pro and save yourself the headache.

Apple again. Easy to set up. Loading MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint was problematic and I needed help from store. It took about 30 minutes for them to figure out and install.

As a college student studying Music Education, I needed a reliable laptop that could handle both everyday tasks and more demanding music software. I chose the MacBook Air 15-inch with the M4 chip, 16GB of memory, and 512GB of storage, and it has exceeded my expectations so far. What I love most is how lightweight and portable it is—perfect for carrying around campus. The battery life is outstanding; I can go an entire day of classes and practice sessions without needing to recharge. The retina display is vibrant and clear, which makes everything from score editing to video lectures a better experience. Performance-wise, the M4 chip is incredibly fast and efficient. I’ve run notation software and audio tools without any lag or freezing. Even with multiple tabs and apps open, the MacBook runs smoothly and stays cool. I also really appreciate how quiet it is—even during heavier tasks, I don’t hear any fan noise, which is important during recording or practicing. So far, I don’t have any major complaints. It’s a bit of an investment, but for what I need, it’s 100% worth it.

I traded down from a MacBook Pro, and don't feel any impact to my day-to-day use (I'm not a gamer, graphic designer, or content creator). I also love that the M4 chip is solid state. And the processing speed compared with my old laptop is like night and day. The speakers aren't as good, but that's not a big deal for me. I don't quite get the upsides of the new (fabric) power cord, and even after a couple of weeks, I think it looks like an aftermarket item. And I'm not a fan of the magnetic power connector (ones I've had in the past broke with age). And it's a bummer that there aren't USB-C ports on both sides of the unit...but I don't feel too terribly impacted by that either. My major concerning issue is that for a new computer, I get a lot of hung up apps and spinning circles. So my fingers are crossed that I didn't buy a lemon. Love the Starlight color. Love how lightweight it is.
