    A computer that actually works

    Posted .

I'm a student, beginning my senior year of college, and I bought a new unibody Macbook in March of this year. As a freshman, I purchased a HP laptop, which worked to it's full function for just a little over a year. Lots of just dumb issues, like programs no longer running, overheating, fan really loud, and eventually, the motherboard completely malfunctioning. Having several friends with the same laptop get it fixed and a few weeks/months later have the same issues again, I decided to just cut that out and get a new laptop. I went with the Macbook because of the great things I've heard about it and because Windows had let me down enough already. It's a little pricey, but I works. And will work... much longer than a year. Mac OS X is so easy to use! Once you get past the I've-grown-up-on-windows mentality, you'll get the hang of it. The only issues I've had are me-- I'm so used to Windows I over think how to do something. So simple and basic... it's like a computer for dummies. I'm so happy with this purchase that I now believe in the phrase: Once you go MAC, you never go BACK.

    Great investment!

I purchased my first Macbook about 3 years ago. My husband purchased a laptop at the same time for about $300 less (he got a pc). He has replaced his hard drive twice and (of course) has had to pay for antivirus software every year. We both recently got new laptops. We decided we would try to trade-in our old ones. My Macbook was worth (after 3 years of use!) $375. His was worth $36. Big difference. We figure that after everything HIS pc actually ended up costing $350 more than my original Mac. Obviously we both got new Macs. I got the Macbook and he got a Macbook Pro. I wish iWork or MS Office came with the Mac, but MS Office doesn't even come with most pc laptops. You just get a trial version either way. Getting the Apple Care plan is a must. My kids (and dogs) destroyed two power cords by pulling on them. I just took the broken cords into the Apple store and they gave me new ones. That day! No waiting to have my claim reviewed by someone in another state (or more often, another country). I love the way the entire suite of software works together. It is extremely user friendly and intuitive. I just love my Mac!

I have regained my peace of mind!

    Posted .

After buying an HP and a Toshiba (both of which lasted a little over a year each) for my daughter, I grew tired of the constant complaining that her computer is acting up again. And I was fed up of wasting so many hours of my free time on nights and weekends fixing her computer problems. So this year, for her birthday, I got her a MacBook. She says she loves it and it is the best ever. But the real "best" thing: no more complaining about the computer! She's had it for over four months now and I have not been bothered once to help fix something. Hooray!!! I realize that you can get a similar spec-ed laptop for a little cheaper, but for a few extra bucks, it has definitely been worth it not to be hassled by the problems with Windows on a regular basis. Plus, it doesn't need an anti-virus (which is a cost savings) which also means the laptop isn't slowed down by anti-virus software running like what happens on Windows laptops. My only regret is that I didn't buy her a MacBook two years ago because I could have saved myself a lot of grief. My peace of mind is definitely worth it.

    Great Macbook

I've been a PC user all my life but after going through two HP laptops in three years, i decided to try something new. Im glad i did cause Im very impressed with this macbook. I mainly use my it for listening to music, youtube, school, etc.. and the mac handles it with ease. But the main reason i brought this was to get away from windows. OSX doesn't nearly have the hiccups windows has. The start/shut down time, and time it takes to load applications is awesome. Im not sitting around waiting forever for my computer to start/load anymore. I should of switched a long time ago! The only thing i don't is while the white makes the macbook look really sharp, it does make it a finger magnet but i solved that by buying a microfiber cloth and a speck case. No buyers remorse here!

    MacBook's Are Awesome

    Posted .

Macs are the best line of computers of all time. It really doesn't matter if they are MacBooks, MacBook Pros, MacBook Airs or even the iMacs. No matter which one you get you will love it. I got the White MacBook because it was the cheapest and at the time I wanted a computer just for myself really bad. The MacBook that I got was supposed to be an open box item but the only thing that the people looked at was the Everything Mac and Everything Else documentation. So I got a really good deal on a really good computer. The thing that I love the most about my Mac is the iLife applications. Everything that comes with iLife is extremely fun and helpful. When you get the MacBook you can't go without a week of having to buy an accessory. And the accessory that I bought was the Magic Mouse and it is the best mouse that I have ever used. In the end Macs are the best computers out there and are definitely worth which ever one you buy.

Good but they want your $ on the back-end

My complaints that the included RAM is to small (at 2GB) and there is no media card reader would not by themselves drop this MacBook down to 3 stars. The fact that Apple fills the only two RAM slots with a single 1GB chip each and they conveniently add a port to plug in a camera connector/adapter (after you buy one) does cost a star and are deal breakers for me. My plan had been to live without the media card slot and upgrade the RAM on my own (thinking I would just need to by an extra 2GB chip and slip it in). Media cards may go out of style in the future but they are still a/the main source of storing and transferring data between devices and EVERYONE who uses digital media uses media cards. The fact that Apple left out the media card slot is truly unacceptable to me. But the REAL deal breaker (and reason why I'm taking my MacBook back and exchanging for a pro version) is the RAM issue. Both RAM slots have to have the same size chip and so upgrading to 4GB means replacing both chips. In other words, requires buying two 2GB chips to upgrade to 4GB of RAM. The RAM alone will cost me $200.00 (before tax) from Apple. So, they will get their money after all, but when I exchange the MacBook for the MacBook Pro with a sticker price of $200.00 more. With the Pro version you will get useable RAM (4GB) and the media card slot and one or two other additions I believe but don't remember for sure. Would recommend to anyone that doesn't plan on running any serious software that requires a lot of RAM

    Macbook top notch!

I have been a Windows gal since 1998, my last one died about a month ago, I decided to give the Mac a try, last time I used one was back in grade school back in the early 80's. This is the first computer since my Gateway that really and truly was bring it home plug it in and go. I am impressed and I am not easy to impress. I will be the first one to admit that I need tutoring in doing things on the computer if it is more than surfing the web and with this one I am really enjoying learning and doing this by myself, this Mac is that simple!! I highly recommend this to one and all!!

Great laptop, good size and fast performance.

As my first Apple Computer it has been a great one. I would say I have been using this MacBook more often than my PC Laptop, but I still say that I cant give up on PCs yet, still some things that I like to use the PC for but I am very happy with my first Mac computer. Also it doesn't get viruses so you can browse safety to websites. This computer starts very fast and in seconds is ready to operate. The battery life is very good... you can be within 6 hours on battery, easily. The only thing I miss on this computer is a card reader so you can your photos from your cards directly to the computer. I know you can get the MacBook Pro that has it built in. But other than that it is a great computer. Great buy.

    Best white macbook.

Great product. It is a little expensive in comparison with a PC... But let's be honest, no PC compares in performance. If you are a first time Mac customer, this is perfect for you. Has the same structure of the brushed metal Macbooks, seems to have the same feel. This will scratch just as they all do so I would recommend a slip case or hard case to go along with it. If you want to go into more detail, the trackpad, which has no visible buttons, is updated which gives you a much larger surface. Great software already included as well. Overall great product. I would recommend to anyone.

    is it worth the money?

In my opinion it is worth every penny you will spend. I just got my macbook the other day and having pervious experience with the Mac Pro during my digital media classes in college i can say this is a great mac to start with if you don't have 1500 bucks to slap down for a macbook pro....the basic spec's of this years model macbook is almost identical to the 2010 mac pro...if your looking for a new computer and don't mind forking out a little extra cash then the macbook is for you

I had a HP windows xp all my life, nd i thought of upgrading myself to a mac. And i love this MAC. At first it was hard to understand nd use this mac, but now after 1 week, i jst dont want to use any other computer. Its so much better dan windows. I think the price is lil bit high, but its resonable, bcuz i can upgrade the hard drive or RAM anytime i want at the same price of MacBook Pro. But the looks of this White Mac is jst awesome. LOVE THIS MAC.

This Mac Book is the greatest, coolest, most fun thing I have. I don't get anything done -- I sit and play with my Mac Book. I now see why people that have Mac Books don't want to give them up. If you are considering a Mac Book -- get it you will not be sorry. Actually you're going to wonder why didn't get one a long time ago.

I had the Macbook Pro, sold it by a great price and bought this one, I saved some money and still satisfied with my Apple. Perfect for a student like me, at the end of my post graduation. And I believe it will still be useful when I start working as I do not work with informatics. I am a big fan of technology and with this I can reach anything I want. Love the Microsoft Office for Mac and also the picture editing and managing soft.

Perfect for the avid photographer, Amazing screen!

I waited to write a review till after I have had my macbook for several months to make sure I can give my honest opinion. So far I can't find anything wrong with it. I primarily use mine for the normal email, photos, sync with iPhone, music and of course watching House online while away from home :) I was a little skeptical of the 2GB RAM being a little sluggish, but surprisingly enough its not. Might be to a gamer or someone with no patience, but for the most part it keeps up with everything I am doing while running several pretty demanding apps at one time. (Photoshop & Dreamweaver)

    Everybody should convert to Mac's

I have fallen in love with Mac computers. They are so much easier to use...eventually. It takes a little getting used to when you have used PC's for a long time but you will see that they are a lot easier. Plus they never get viruses or any sort of error messages. They are fast and have a lot of storage space. I cant thing of one thing i don't like about them other than their color variety (i wish they came in other colors), but in the big picture the Macbook is a great investment if you are looking to get a new laptop.

    My first Mac

    Posted .

I purchased this Mac two weeks ago and so far i'm very impressed. i was a pc guy all my life till i finally had enough with all the virus upgrades, slow startups, so on and so forth. This is by far the most money i have spent on a laptop EVER, i was told it was worth it. and so far they were right. the screen is brilliant great for movies, pictures and surfing. i'm not to happy about the lack of applications that came installed on the hard drive but i guess thats why it has great start up, about 45 sec. the disc drive doesn't have a tray which is good but it is a bit loud at times. and whatever you do DON'T put a scratched disk in the disk drive, it'll take 15 minutes of pressing eject to get it back. overall this is a great laptop.

    I love this computer.

I previously owned a iMac (the desktop version) and loved it, but I needed something more portable so I can move around the house or take my computer wherever I might need to take it or even watch movies/YouTube in my bed. If you want the basics and you like/love Macs then the MacBook is for you. If you need all that crazy high-tech software then the Pros are for you. BTW, Macintosh computers are good, but don't let anyone talk you out of a Windows computer if that is really what you want.

    Mac is #1

I had an iBook G4 for 7 years (not much power in the early laptops) and it was time to replace it. There are so many wonderful features and benefits to the new MacBook! The #1 reason that is always repeated...No Viruses! This laptop is fast and you will literally learn all you can do with this dynamo by just watching the online tutorials. I am loyal to Apple. The Macbooks worth every penny. They're easy, fun, powerful and will last a long time. The great 18 month same as cash financing and Advance Protection Plan which includes accidents like spills ...ect., which Apple doesn't offer, is why I bought my MacBook at Best Buy. I am very Happy!

A great machine, depending on what you need.

I didn't really have the money to spend on this laptop, but i decided to take a chance anyway. Overall i would say this is the best computer i have ever had the pleasure of owning. I was for years a PC guy, and bashed Mac without ever giving them a chance. It was initially hard for me to adjust to the operating system, as it functions very differently from Windows. But the key is forget everything you ever knew about windows, and suddenly it just clicks. From start up time, osx stability, and build quality a PC can't come close. While there are several draw backs to this mac. I would not recommend it to anyone who does complicated computing(such as advanced programming) since a windows based pc is less restrictive. But for normal tasks this is the computer for you. Also, MACs can and do get viruses, just much less often. So pick up a copy of Norton.
