I bought this laptop on a student deal expecting to return it and just keep my 2011 MacBook Pro. I ended up fighting myself every day of the return period and couldn't part with it. Everything about this machine is better than the old one. Simply amazing. Those who think they won't like the butterfly keyboard should give it a try. While it does take some getting used to and sometimes leaves sore hands, the typing effort is significantly lower than the old ones and it feels more responsive too. The Retina display and hi-fidelity speakers on this laptop are great. Charging is fast and the battery life on this machine is better than any other Mac I've owned. It's a great machine at the price I got it for. I wouldn't pay full price.

Switched from PC to Mac and I am happy

I think I actually bought and returned 3 MacBook Pro's before finally accepting the fact that I had to have a MacBook Pro over a PC Laptop. I am a semi-pro photographer and videographer. I needed to have some sort of software to be able to edit videos. Cost wise, it is cheaper in the long run to use a Mac because it has great software already installed that is free. Since Windows decided to remove Movie Maker, there was no really good software to use that was free. I would have to pay for Premiere or buy something else. iMovie does a great job and does exactly what I need it to do and so much more. For a person like me who does wedding videos, photos, drone work, and more, this is the perfect laptop, I can't believe I just said that. The workflow is very different and takes getting used to but that is it, you just have to get used to it.

I returned this and exchanged it for the MacBook Air. There was much about the 2017Pro which I loved-the sound is great, the speed is great, and so is the screen resolution. However, not having USB ports is a ridiculous inconvenience and means having to buy an extra dongle, and the worst, for me, is the touch of keyboard. It is entirely different from older models. The keys are very low profile, noisy, the spacing is slightly different so my fingers kept hitting the wrong keys. Then I read up on it and lots of people were complaining about endless repairs for their keyboards. Some people apparently love the new design, but after a week and a half I'd had it. The MacBook Air is a much better fit for me.

This is my first Macbook and i am completely satisfied with the product. Great looks..excellent processing speed..great display and good battery back-up.I was a bit skeptical in the beginning to shift from Windows to Mac but i should say that i dont miss the flexibility that windows offers as Mac has it all and more to that, the build of laptops is extremely sturdy and solid. The retina display is just perfect and the keypad&touch pad are pretty responsive. The only thing i miss are those extra ports to connect devices, which should have been accommodated somehow on the Mac, but luckily there are many adapters available to convert the USB-C to technically any other port. I got one for $40 that can convert USB-c to DVI/VGA/HDMI/USB. All-in-all, its a great product and worth that extra buck you pay for it.

This is my second Apple MacBook computer and I previously had the MacBook Air (early 2015) model, but I then decided to upgrade to the MacBook Pro (mid-2017) non-Touch Bar and non-Touch ID model because I wanted a more advanced and powerful computer that will last me more than a couple years in workable condition other than my first MacBook Air (early 2015) computer. Although, since I had experienced using both the MacBook Air model and the MacBook Pro model, I would really recommend the MacBook Pro model with or without the Touch Bar and Touch ID features because they are both awesome and are a very user-friendly computer.

I had an MacBook Pro 2012 and I just recently purchases this MacBook Pro! I was a bit frustrated it didn't have a CD player, and others things Attached to it and you had to purchase the attachments. After using the new MacBook Pro, I realized you have to take things out of the older model to create and better version for better quality and enhancements. This computer works great, the display is phenomenal in my yes. The reaction to touch rational is very accurate. Small and sleek for the size and just feels like a laptop you've always wanted. I haven't discovered anything that bad yet, but I come across it at times. If you like keyboard buttons that stick out a bit, this MacBook Pro may take getting used to! Overall an amazing computer!

    From Windows to Mac

I basically use the Mac Pro for accessing remotely using Citrix and it's a lot smoother than Windows including the updates. Transitioning is a little annoying due to short cut keys and snipping capability but once you got the hang of it, it's easier. Clicking is quite of an adjustment as well in the pad but not a big deal. I never thought I would enjoy using a laptop without a mouse but because it has a larger pad, it's a lot easier maneuvering with your finger thus to me mouse is not an option (which is pretty expensive). Screen size is just right, enough to do my work. Sound quality of the speakers is great as well. Overall, I have this for 5 days and I am enjoying it and buying it in a sale price including the price adjustment as it went down again is all worth it.

I recommend MacBooks to anyone looking for a laptop. Apple products alone hold their value & just are so much better than an outdated windows OS laptop. If you are already using an iPhone or iPad, we’ll than it’s a no brainer. Everything will sync together and make life so much easier. There is really no need to go into all details on why MacBooks are the smarter choice. Go try it out for yourself in the store. A lot of people hate on Apple because of the prices. But If any of the people who buy the cheaper laptops are honest, they would prefer a MacBook. Some people just are on tight budgets & have no choice but to buy the outdated windows laptops and that’s understandable. I mean who wants to deal with viruses on a laptop. Never worry about that stuff on MacBooks or any of my Apple products to be honest.

To think that $1400 gets you a 2 gen old dual-core processor tells you how strong Apple's influence is on the common denominator. Even Best Buy is forced to sell the Apple Care instead of their Geek Squad extended warranty which is what I usually get. I got this for my high schooler since they are laughed at if they don't have the MBP. Sign of times, nothing you can do. The only positive on this computer is the USB-C/ Thunderbolt 3 which can keep the product relevant providing the hardware does not go first. Apple is definitely in retrograde stage and more is expected with Cooke at the helm.

This is half as big and twice as powerful as my previous MacBook Pro. It's great for traveling, keyboard is fine for typing, beautiful display, good sound volume. Unfortunately, there are only two ports. To plug anything in, eg; film cards, USB devices, etc, you need an adapter or a hub. The hub I tried DID NOT work with the CD/DVD Superdrive 's USB plug. It needed an adapter, which worked fine. Bluetooth, and Airdrop are good.

Ive mainly used Windows laptops so this is the first MacBook that I've ever purchased and I don't regret it one bit. I read reviews online about the keyboards in the MacBooks having problems but I can say from experience that that is not the case. Ive been using my MacBook non stop for the last week and I haven't run into one issue with the keyboard while typing documents and multiple emails. This MacBook has excellent battery life and its super fast. The display is gorgeous. If you're in the market for a new laptop don't sleep on the MacBook pro. Its without a doubt the best laptop I have ever used. Definitely a must buy!

I love this computer. It’s so high tech. I had a windows laptop computer for the longest and I finally saved up and invested on this apple MacBook Pro and I’m so glad I did!! I love it, it’s a little getting use to but it’s so beautifully designed and so genius. The only downfall I would have to say is that the thing you need to connect for USB is not there. Meaning you would have to buy a separate cord to fit to the computer in order to transfer your stuff which was a bit disappointing. I feel like apple did this purposely so we keep continueing buy more of there products to be able to get things we need done -_- there goes another $20 let alone computer was $1299 ! But I have no complaints other than that. It’s amazing !!

My daughter has always wanted a mac book, but thought they were out of our price range. When her laptop that she got 2 years ago for $275 started slowing down and she was unable to use it for her schoolwork, I started looking on line at mac books. When I found this on sale (which I'm told apple rarely does) I did the math...we could buy another throw away laptop that would probably need to be replaced again in 2years, or we could buy a mac book that would last her through high school, college and beyond. By the time this one becomes obsolete, she will be buying her own. She is really happy with it. She found it easy to set up and use. She is looking forward the next school year with a lop top that won't lag and freeze up on her.

the laptop is fantastic. I don't mind usb c I think its better this way, and the screen looks great. the sound output is acceptable, but one thing that just ruined the perfection for me is the keyboard. it feels great, and its nice and flushed out with he flatness of the laptop but its just way too loud! I am trying to type slower softer and idk the keys are just freaking loud I feel like im gonna get in trouble cause everybody can hear my typing. maybe it just feels that way cause im in front of the keyboard and I can't really hear other people typing all that loud but man compared to the previous macbook keyboard (I had a MacBook Air and it has the same keyboard as the previous MacBook Pro) this keyboard is LOUD.

I've been an Apple user since way back in the Apple //+ days, and an early Mac user too. The newer MacBook Pro models are amazing computers, light and powerful, with long battery life. The screen is amazing and everything works right out of the box. My only complaint is the lack of expansion ports (USB) on the device itself (requires a dock for multiple items) and the somewhat limited RAM/HD combinations. If Apple could put out a model that was close in cosr, but double the RAM and put in a GB SSD, they would more than dominate the market again... Still, this is more than worth the price for a super powerful, and super portable unit.

Previously, I have owned three Imac computersn for home/personal use, but my new part time work required me to have na laptop to be able to do my reports at the work site. It was so simple to migrate my Word documents top the new laptop. Before I made this purchase, my wife asked me to reconsider purchasing a Microsoft computer, because it was a lot cheaper, but I never wanted to go back to a Microsoft computer, because they don't have the same built-in quality as a Mac. I love the new features on this laptop, such as nopt having to sign in every time I TURN IT ON. Plus it's faster than my 2017 Imac computer.

+ Great battery life (from apple in charge of hardware and software together) +Trackpad is of very generous size and very very buttery smooth +Unibody metal design, built like a tank +Super bright screen, good for outdoor use +/- Retina display; is nice, but realistically just a "marketing ploy"; 1920x1080 would've been fine, but this is just fine too, how close is your face to your laptop screen? - Keyboard has very low travel - Lowest spec only has 2 usb c ports - No more MagSafe 2 magnetic charger - Lowest spect for $1,300 only comes with 128gb; I can do with 128gb, but for this premium price at least 256gb. $200+ to upgrade from 128gb to 256gb is a greaaat deal Apple

I have always used MacBook Pros, but was a little leery about this one after reading some reviews. Overall, I really like it. It is annoying that Apple opted to leave out USB ports, but this is easily manager with an adapter. The one big complaint I have is that when it gets hot (which sometimes is very hot), the keyboard starts making these terrible popping sounds. I have found that this is usually easily rectified by checking the internet tabs to see which one is still actively loading (even though it appears to be fully loaded), and just hitting the "x" next to the address bar to stop it. Otherwise, it runs beautifully and it is so slim and lightweight compared to my 2010 MacBook Pro. I also LOVE the space grey color option. It looks really nice. No regrets.

I was always a PC user. I decided to buy a Mac after using one of my friends for years. This MacBook is the best purchase I’ve ever made. It is so fast and has about nine hours of battery life if you take off that apps you don’t need. It’s lightweight and different from the MacBook from 2012. I love the keyboard. The only downside is that it does not have a USB port BUT, to buy an adapter is only $10 at Best Buy. Best Buy is the best place to purchase Apple products because they do price comparison with Apple. Including their student discounts. They also price match Apple care which now covers drops, cracks, total destruction - everything except lost/stolen MacBooks. I am loyal to Best Buy. And now that I purchased this Mac, I will always go back!

I've used Macs for The last fifteen years or so. My last two MBPs lasted 6 years each. I also use this model for work and it's been solid. Nice display, quick, good build quality. I got a new (2017) onefor myself for the memorial day sale for $999 new, which was nice, but after three times using it it froze up on me. Just wouldn't boot up. Never happened to me on a Mac before. Frankly I didn't care to investigate or diagnose it, it just promptly returned it. I feel kinda bummed but I'm gonna move on to Windows for the first time in my adult life.
