Good solid refresh of MacBook Pro. Don't need Touchbar as find it a gimmick with little app support. This generation is lighter and more powerful than the previous while taking up a smaller footprint. The only negative is the lack of ports so if you need to plug in devices, then don't upgrade to this model.

    New MacBook 13 Great Deal

This was not a planned purchase but-- it was a good purchase. My 4 year old MacBook had an accident. Much of my work is online. So... new MacBook. The number #1 thing is that Best Buy does have sales on brand new Apple products. So, this purchase was 150$ less than the same machine on the Apple site or it was the same price as the machine on the refurbished Apple site. All in all, I like it. Some of the things that I like;I know from other reviews others do not. So, here are my pros and cons: Pros- -Keys are just slightly bigger and tap when you hit them. This is a pro for me. I have some arthritis and carpal tunnel syndrome (occupational hazard?), I make fewer typos with this keyboard. -Touchpad is much, much larger. Again, some folks don't like this but I love it. Also, it seems more responsive than the previous generation MacBook. - Still quite fast overall, even though the processor is a bit slower than the previous model -Display is great. Bright. Colors are accurate. Supposedly the Retina display has been improved and is now "iris" display. Can't see all that much of a difference. Still great display. -Great battery life. Advertised at about 10 hours and that seems accurate to me. Cons: -Just two lightening 3 ports. No usb. No dedicated power port. No Video port. Two? Really Apple what were you thinking? I know, I know... everything is bluetooth and you can sell us adaptors for more money. Obviously, somewhat cynical about this change. The only real problem is that it will eventually force me to buy a bluetooth mouse. I did not get the model with the new touch bar-- it seemed gimmicky to me and somewhat pointless. Overall, I am happy with this purchase, 4/5 seems fair to me given the switch to lightening 3 and bluetooth enable devices which would be somewhat major if this was not also somewhat cheaper than the price directly from Apple.

Obviously the best laptop in the market

THe Macbook pro has always been the best laptop make in the market, in terms of speed, style, performance, battery life & security. I chose the older generation MBP since I still want the availability of HDMI, Card reader, USB ports, with the need for an adaptor. If you plan to keep this for device for the next 4-5 years, I would suggest getting the 16 Gig RAM model with at least 512 GB. It is not easy to upgrade the SSD (its 649$ for the OWC 1 TB HDD) and the RAM is non upgradable. I bought the 8 Gig 256 GB SSD model thinking that it would be enough for my needs - It absolutely is. But I expanded the scope of my work by using this Mac for running Windows VMs and Gopro video editing etc, NOW, I feel I should have gone for more. Its the best laptop there is nevertheless and I would highly recommend it against any Windows junk available out there. THe most recommended accessory - A snapon protective case AND - Best Buy was the best place to buy it, loved the price match. If only they would do zero tax like B&H

My 2008 MacBook Pro finally retired and I replaced it with this new 13" MacBook Pro. After looking over reviews I decided against the touch pad offered in other models. I have now had the computer for over a month, it looks sharp in the new darker gray color, the battery life is good, it is lightweight, has phenomenal resolution, and easy to use across my other Apple products. Best Buy had the best price, and I had price shopped for awhile. My only complain is that it DOES get warm/hot if you use it for an extended period, especially if it's on a soft surface, but you should never actually have your laptop in your LAP anyways. All in all, a fantastic product, gotta love all Apple has to offer.

I have always been a PC person but since getting the new iPhone 7, I thought I'd switch to a mac as well and got this entry level Macbook Pro. I had this laptop for 3 days now and I'm still struggling to familiarize MacOS. On the hardware side, I had to say I am very pleased with the display, the new keyboard is also very good. Despite having less travel, it feels very responsive that I don't miss the old school keyboard at all. The backlit keyboard is very refined with no light spilling on the edges of the keys like other laptops. The speaker is very good too I haven't used my bluetooth speaker since using this MBP. As far as size and weight, this is the smallest and lightest laptop with so much power I've ever owned. The build quality is great I'm sure it will survive a drop. I'm still trying to get used to the fact there's no touch screen that's not an "Apple issue". You can do a lot more with the MBP's touchpad than any other PC's touchpad out there but this will take time to get used to. If there's anything I'm not satisfied about, that would be the lack of apps such as banking, social media, productivity and news apps that I enjoy using on my iPhone. But I completely understand the the mobile and computer platforms are different but would be nice to have those. Overall, this is one great computer that anyone can use as their main computer. With a few days of use, I can say that one can be a beginner or a pro and will enjoy this new Macbook Pro just the same. I highly recommend this laptop.

I have been using Apple products for the last few years and absolutely love them. I purchased an iMac from Best Buy two years ago and have enjoyed using it, so I decided to add a laptop to my collection. After looking at all of the Apple choices, I decided to go with the 2016 MacBook Pro. I purchased the one without the touch bar. Although it is a very cool feature, I didn't feel like spending the extra $300 for something that I would probably only use to impress my friends. I have no regrets. I find it very fast for my tasks (listening to music, web browsing, some garage band stuff, email, etc.). The Retina display is beautiful. I love the feel of the keyboard. It is very lightweight and attractive. I thought I would regret having only two Thunderbolt ports, but in all honesty I will usually only use one for charging my MacBook and the other for either charging my iPhone or saving to a flash drive. I immediately purchased two USB C to USB B dongles at Best Buy when they were on sale for only $10. Battery life is better than any laptop I've owned. If you are worried about not having the touch bar, no worries...this is a great computer without it. Everyday I am excited to use this baby! One of my best purchases I've ever made. Thanks Apple and Best Buy!

My first MacBook. Excellent build quality, battery life, display and light weight. No heating issues. Prior to this, I bought HP Spectre X360 (2in1), but returned it due to over-heating issues. I'm still in the learning phase since this is my first MacBook-so can't speak much. I wish there were few more ports (atleast a USB, SD Card and an HDMI like the previous generation). So be prepared to buy some additional adapters (50-100$). I suggest buying the Apple protection plan since its an expensive laptop. Overall, I LIKE IT.

Very impressed with this new MacBook. Display is gorgeous, very fast, and the battery life is great. I like the keyboard...easy to type on. The computer is lighter now and it's very easy to carry around to meetings and conferences. The only problem I had was that the 256GB of storage was not enough for me. I would definitely go for the 512GB model.

I finally got a Macbook. Been using Windows PC all my life. I hated that Apple premium pricing but I decided to try it out. Best build quality hands down. It's just gorgeous to look at. It's sleek. The screen is beautiful. It has a REALLY small footprint so you can carry it around anywhere and everywhere. The force touch trackpad is super nice. It's definitely a top notch machine. That being said, there's alot that does knock it down a star. I really don't like the key travel of the butterfly mechanism. It's uncomfortable. I really liked the keyboards of the previous macs, so it's really unfortunate that Apple is moving forward with the butterfly keys. I don't understand their reasoning of having to do it to make it thinner when there are thinner laptops out there with perfectly good keyboards. I also don't like that they put the weaker i5 processor in the base model. For what you're paying, you should get more. Also, the smaller battery didn't make much sense to me although apparently battery life is supposed to be the same. Get used to adapters. I don't mind USB-C but man Apple's adapters are so expensive. This is a great and beautiful computer. I feel it could have been THE computer if they kept aspects of the previous gen that people loved. Kind of hard to justify the price, but if you're willing to pay a premium then this is worth a look.

I like my new Macbook Pro. Its fast, never heat up, Best keyboard on any laptop, Huge trackpad, very much useful touchbar and very less ports to connect any thing. All usb-c type ports, not a fan of USB-C. No other ports to connect any thing, you will need a adaptor. Very much worth buying, if you like apple products. Best in class, best built quality, very good speakers, awesome retina display. Over all I like my Macbook Pro.

The last Macbook Pro I had wasa 13" from back in 2009 and it lasted me up until now. It just started running a little slower for all the graphic and photography work I was doing on it, so I had to upgrade. After doing some extensive research, I decided to go to Best Buy and check out the new Macbook Pros and fell in love with this one. I decided to opt-out of the weird light bar with the scroll and save myself some money since it really wasn't necessary. The only thing I didn't realize was that the USB is now a USB-C so I had to buy an adapter from Amazon, which really wasn't a big deal. There's also no drive - something I miss from the old Macbook design, but again not a big deal. I am absolutely in love with the sleek design of the new Pros and was told it was designed like an Air. IT'S SO GREAT. Defiinitely recommend this over the Air if you are a graphic designer or are a photographer and need something portable (or not portable) to work off of. WORTH. EVERY. CENT.

This Mac Pro is great. Easy set up, light, good graphics, excellent battery life, and large scratch pad. The one thing I love is the key board. It is very light to the touch. The only con is, no USB ports, only usb c ports. You will have to buy an adapter, for any USB accessories.

This was my first Apple computer. I have an iPod, iPad and iPhone but never a Mac so I was concerned with the learning curve. But once Best Buy helped me with the setup and transfer of data I was on my own. I did have some problems with setting up my email addresses so Best Buy had to help again and then I was off. I am not a tech geek but I have to say it took no time in picking it up. Had a little trouble with photos I took on my iPhone uploading, but once I increased the data on my iCloud the transfers were made. Some of the benefits are the compact size, the speed, stylish good looks and no virus worries. I had my concerns trying something new and going a little above my budget but am so glad I did. I am very pleased with my purchase and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a new laptop. At least give it a look.

While it is a bit overpriced for what it is, it still is the best laptop for someone who wants to travel light and want a high-res screen. The screen is top-notch and irrespective of the hardware the performance is excellent. Lack of port is the only reason its not a 5 star from me as I have to carry one dongle for some of my peripherals like SD card reader and external drive.

I had the 2012 macbook pro since the end of 2012 and it had decided to trade up before the value went down. Great little computer, much faster than the last one. The keyboard didn't take much getting used to suprisignly, but I write so it might be that i just used it a lot at once. Switching to the dongle life isn't bad if you only use the occasional usb device since those ones are going down in price. When I got this computer I originally went for the newer model but my store was sold out. The girl that was helping me was nice enough to check the whole store and found this one open box, Saved a lot of money that way even if it was probably the floor model. I love this computer, it travels well and hasn't given any problems yet. I do miss the start up sound but that's a minor thing.

I'm by no means a heavy user but I do use this computer everyday for work. So that means MS Office suite, web browsing, sometimes Adobe CC apps, Lightroom 5. Computer handles all of those easily and with multiple windows open. Pros: 1. Speakers: best I've ever heard on a laptop 2. Keyboard: quick, precise, but I'm still getting used to it. YMMV. 3. Display: nice and bright, almost too bright at night. 4. Portability: great size for throwing in a bag and hardly noticing it. I travel abroad often so this makes more sense than the 15" (which also seems very portable for a 15" but can't compare with a 13") 5. USB-C: ports are quick! Got a USB-C external sad and copied over 150 gb in about 5 min 6. Non-touchbar: I prefer to be able to adjust the screen brightness, keyboard brightness, volume, and have the iTunes controls always available. Plus have the feedback of pressing a button. And having the button locations memorized so I don't have to look down. 7. Upgradeable SSD: unlike the touchbar versions, this SSD can be upgraded. They are being sold on eBay and amazon currently so I expect the prices to eventually go down. Cons: 1. Battery: with light use and screen brightness at 50%, will hit 8-10 hours. But under load, like playing the speakers loud, battery gets drained quickly 2. Dongles: yes, it's not ideal, but it's probably not as bad as most imagine. I did purchase a hub to make it easier. Then I purchased UCB-C cables because that's often cheaper than buying an adapter, plus I know it will work. I purchased this laptop Geek squad certified on sale plus with a $100 Best Buy reward. So my total was a little over $1000. For that price, to me, this technology is a nice value. But I waited for a deal because $1500 is a little too steep for this computer.

I bought this macbook to replace my late 2011 model whose trackpad and cd/dvd drive no longer worked. This model is almost 1/2 the size and weight of my old one and I love it! I chose not to get the newer model with the touchbar because I don't see a need for that feature and I figured it was just one more thing that could break. Also this model was on sale and the touchbar model was not so win-win for me! The keyboard is more flush with the body than my old model which I don't mind. The speakers are AMAZING!!! When I listen to music it sounds like I'm using fancy-pants external speakers but it's just the ones that are built into the macbook! A+++
