back when I was in high school in 2010, the school gave every student MacBooks when they first came out. I have always been a fan since!! Because of the cost, I just kept getting a windows but seemed like every few years I was needing a new computer. In high school, I used the exact same one all four years without any issues.. so I figured I'd take the plunge and get one since I am back in college. I purchased the new 2017 13' Macbok Pro (no Touch Bar edition) Honestly, If I was to get one from the beginning I would have just saved money in the long run instead of spending a $300-$500 every 1-2 years. I am so happy with my decision, and have no buyer's remorse whatsoever.

I purchased this Macbook Pro after my 2011 Macbook Air's battery started expanding. So far the computer has been way better than my Macbook Air. Also, it's not that much heavier which is a plus because I was so used to the lighter Macbook Air. The only complaint I have is the battery life is no where near what it is advertised. It seems like every time I open something that requires a little computing power the fans turn on and the battery starts to drain. I do like the new USB C, especially when it comes to the power brick. The power cord now detaches from the brick, so there's no more bending of the cord where it connects to the brick. This should help with the tearing of the cord and having to purchase a 80 dollar plus replacement.

Great Ultrabook, NOT a Pro machine

This is the BEST ultrabook you can find today. It's lightweight, thin, the build quality is superb. It's super fast and responsive. TrackPad is awesome, nothing else comes close. The display is super sharp with gorgeous colors in the wide-gamut DCI-P3 standard, and colors are very accurate. The speakers sound incredibly good & loud. Battery life is great. But all that is when you stick to basic Ultrabook usage. When trying to use professional applications, this MacBook quickly gets super hot. It's freezes frequently, gets very slow and unresponsive, and the bettery runs out in less than 3 hours. This is a great Ultrabook, but by no means a Pro Laptop.

I purchased 2017 MACBOOK PRO from BESTBUY and I am using it for more than 2 weeks.I also used the 2016 MacBook Pro in the past and I can clearly observe that there is a substantial performance increase. The new processor KABY LAKE is doing excellent with APPLE machines. The second Generation butterfly keys are very impressive. If you have this machine you do not need an external speaker, The speakers of this Machine are delivering Clear, Crisp, Loud and rich sound. This Macbook is sleek as 2016 model and there is no difference in the size and dimensions.Screen quality is improved and Apple completely steals the show. Thank you, Apple for making incredible machines, A big thumbs up to Bestbuy for making this machine immediately available.

I have been an Apple fan for the last 15 years and now it was time for me to upgrade my computer because I needed to edit 4K video and my old iMac was not performing well. When I started to research about the new MacBook Pro computers was very surprising to see how technology has changed so much. I remember several years ago having a a lot of storage and a big Ram memory was a big deal, but I guess now that’s a thing of the past. My MacBook Pro came with only 256 Gb of storage and 8 gb of memory and paid $1550. And also came with only 2 ports (counting the power one). Welcome to the future. So get ready to spend some extra money on an external hard drive and lots of adaptors.

Better than the new MacBook Air (and other models)

Although this model is slightly heavier than the new MacBook air, it is better than the new MacBook Air in almost every aspect, except for a newer keyboard version. The small price difference is totally worth it, if you want/need to be in Apple EcoSystem. Unfortunately, the current MacBook Pro machines are not as flexible as previous generation: no MagSafe charging, very few ports - and all of them are USB-C. I would argue they no longer are worthy of the title "Pro".

It's got a good build quality which I expect in an expensive machine like this. It also looks beautiful. I got the entry model with 256 gb upgrade. 2 USB-c ports are a huge nuisance- expect to use a hub for everything. Battery life lasts about 3-5 hours... even less if you try to game. I'm indifferent about the butterfly keyboard, but I am using my bluetooth keyboard more while having the machine docked to a monitor. If you really reallly want a MBP, get the 15 inch one: it's got more usb ports and easier to read. i assume that the battery life would be better (IMO).

Purchased this because I needed an update to my slow 2011 MacBook Pro and I hate the lack of portability with my iMac. I mainly use my MBP's for editing videos and photos. I've had it for a few days now and so far I haven't had any issues, but I can't go in depth (as far as, this Mac being able to confidently handle the workload), because I haven't been able to load my legacy programs with the updated OS. Looks like I'll be shelling out even more money :). I reduced a star bc of the extra money that had to be spent just to buy a port/hub for extra connections for usb, sd cards and so forth. That's quite annoying especially for the money spent for the laptop alone.

I’ve had this MacBook Pro for about a month now. I needed a new one after I started having issues with my old MacBook Pro, which was a 15 inch 2010 model. Upgrading to this 2018 model was so nice. It’s so light, if it’s not as light as a MacBook Air than it’s pretty close. I’m a college student so the fact that it’s so much lighter than my old one is one of its best features for me. Macs usually have decently long life spends so I hope this one lasts a while! (One small detail that I didn’t notice until I got it home is that the apple logo doesn’t light up like it used to on the other models, it’s just a little mirror now) just something I noticed lol

I want to give my Mac a higher rating because I was so stoked to get one but the first day I purchased it and started Setting it up, it glitched and had this digitalized screen for a brief second before starting it up each time. It still does it! I feel like a brand new computer shouldn’t do that. When I took it in for Apple to look at it, they said it is a normal thing for these newer computers. I am On the fence about recommending it. The older ones absolutely but these newer ones make me Nervous. Not to mention how annoying it is that you have to purchase the new connecter for the usb

this a great laptop for average use ,I initially went for the new mac air but ending up returning it and got this one instead. This computer has great speakers, it has a nice screen , the battery last a good a mount of time and the computer over all seems to run smooth. Only thing is that I'm trying to get use to the new keyboard and I miss all the ports that previous generations had , I fell like apple should include an adapter, but that's just my opinion .

This computer is an excellent buy. Lightweight and great battery. The only thing about this and all the new laptops Apple is coming out with is that you need an adapter for USB, HDMI, extra ports, etc...which I get it. Technology is evolving and in the future every computer is going to go USB-type C. Something like that. Last years model was the last model to have that all included. I just feel like I spent a lot of money on the laptop and I have to spend more to have the connections that I need, like a USB port. Overall, I would have given this and all Apple laptops at the moment a 5 star if it weren't for that problem with buying things and adapters.

My old laptop blew up and it was time to get a new one. I really liked my daughter's MacBook Air, but wanted more functionality, so I started looking at Windows machines that were built as well as the Air, and had better processors and memory at the same price. Unfortunately, all I could find that met the bill, were cheap plastic cases with flimsy hinges and membrane keyboards. If I wanted a nice metal case, spring keyboard and higher resolution display I had to spend > $1k for a Microsoft Machine. With BestBuy's discount I could spend the same money on a Mac and just buy the machine that all the other manufacturers are benchmarking.

Didn't think of buying a new MacBook BUT it was worth the upgrade! I use my computers heavily for school and community work and the speed, screen clarity and size was a renwed experience from my Late 2012 MacBook Pro. I do however miss my old storage. My old MacBook had a 1TB SSD and 16GB of RAM. Not that this MacBook is not faster, but the storage is not upgradable unless you buy a whole new computer. DO NOT GET 128GB MODEL!! 256GB is PLENTY of storage and you have the cloud (Google Drive, Dropbox, etc) to store your data or even an external hard drive. Just play around with it in the store and you'll grow to love it after your purchase.

I bought this as I needed something with with a larger SSD. I was excited! It is a beauty. The new butterfly keys take some getting used to. Mostly, my battery was a 3-4 hour battery. I called Applecare 3 times. They were of NO help. So, I took it to the Apple store in Spokane. A guy named Donald figured out that the permissions were messed up. He reinstalled High Sierra. Now my battery is a 8-9 hour battery. The reason why I only gave this 4 stars is: 1) Applecare service is a disappointment. 2) I don't like the butterfly keys. They are annoying. Other than that, she's a Mac. So, if you have a bad battery, goto the Apple store. Applecare is a waste.

After accidentally pouring water over my only 3 year old laptop, I was forced to replace it. I bought the newer version of the same model. There are some upgrades I guess. Not sure what they are. I really liked my old one. I was very comfortable with it. This one is a little smaller and lighter, which I like. The screen size is the same and I guess the keyboard is, as well. But it feels smaller. Also, I can't seem to get the right touch on the tracking pad. It feels as if I have to press a lot harder. I know you can adjust it, and I tried to, but I just can't seem to get a comfortable touch. Otherwise it is the typical quality you would expect from Apple.

Sleek design and a fast OS - it's what we've come to expect from Apple. I will say the soldered RAM situation is very frustrating and only having two (2) TB3/USB-C ports isn't super helpful when one of those ports is connected to the charger, so I docked a star. Bottom line, this purchase is at a higher price point than a majority of similiarly configured PCs running Windows, but you are buying a beautifully engineered machine, from both an aesthetic and hardware design point of view, that runs smoother than its MS competitors. - Returned HP Spectre x360 after 10+ days for this MBP - I use a HP EliteBook 840 G3 with Win10 daily for work

I am returning to school after 10 years out of the higher education classroom. I bought this computer for both my grad school and teaching needs. It is perfect and has lived up to the Apple expectations. It is reliable, has tons of storage and thin and somewhat light weight. Not as lightweight as the MacBook Air but definitely lighter than the old white MacBook that I had for ages and just died on me. The picture quality is great. I enjoy the space gray colour because it hides finger prints and smudges. It is an investment but so worth the price because I know it will last a long time. Highly recommend!

My main computer is an iMac, but it is stationary and I am thus tethered to one room upstairs while using it. I decided to buy a laptop and the MacBook Pro seemed the best choice as I am familiar with Apple products. I love this computer. I love being able to use it downstairs in the living room, on the patio, wherever I need it! It works seamlessly with my iMac, everything is usable on both devices, and the ease it has brought to my life is a blessed relief!

My kids have had Macs for years, but I never took the plunge. I finally realized I have always replaced my windows based laptops every other year do to performance issues over time. If my kids want a new Mac it’s only because of new technology never based on unreliability or performance. Best move I have made in a very long time. A little time to get use to, still have Excel & Word. Video playback is outstanding, graphics are amazing. Very much enjoying the learning curve.
