    Hardware issues

My MacBook contains my life and I have heard so many good things about it. However I have either bad luck or something is very wrong with my Mac. I have kernel panics so often I have just bought a new laptop (not Mac) because I am so fed up. Last summer I paid $300 to fix something with the hardware. Let me remind you that I did nothing to cause this. The past few weeks this has been occurring again. I am in school and I need to be able to rely on my laptop. 2 weeks ago it began shutting off again and that was fine because I could turn it back on but it got to the point where it would shut off 5 times in 10 minutes and I couldn’t get anything done so I called apple and they went through troubleshooting but ultimately told me to come into the store. I went to the apple store and try reset and wiped everything clean (just like last summer) they thought this would fix it but it did not. I spoke to a senior advisor and they told me I needed to bring it in again (I also do not have a car so it is not easy for me to accomplish all of this and is very inconvenient) so a few days ago I went back into the store and they determined it was a hardware issue. It is around $500 to send it in and get it fixed. This is very similar to what I did last summer, but it’s happening again! This has nothing to do with what I have done, it is all hardware issues. I am so disappointed as I have lost so many documents on my computer as it panics and shuts down and now i will have put over $700 to fix it, which is almost the price of a new laptop. I have decided to purchase a different laptop instead of fixing my Mac again (also my iPhone 8+ screen just stopped working a few weeks ago and I had to get that replaced, also not my fault) hope this helps! I would just recommend apple care. Especially for those with bad luck....

I bought the MacBook Pro because I love my MacBook Air, but wanted the high resolution screen, and the thinner bezel of the new computer. I considered Windows 10 devices at first, but was hesitant to leave the Apple ecosystem. After having it a few weeks though, I realized I didn't like it as much as the Air. The screen is sharper, but I often have my laptop docked at my desk so the extra resolution didn't help behind my 27" monitor. And when I did carry the laptop around I noticed a couple things that I was unhappy with: 1) The aluminum body didn't feel as comfortable to hold as the MBA. The overall shape, while it is smaller than the Air, felt thicker. 2) I absolutely hate the new Apple keyboards. They sacrificed comfort for space, saying that they needed this fancy butterfly mechanism if they wanted the computer this thin. WRONG! There are a number of Windows computers on the market with traditional laptop keys, all while being as thin, and sometimes even thinner than the Mac. I honestly tried, but after a few weeks of trying to like the loud TICK, TICK, TICK, of the keys, I was done. 3) The battery life isn't very good. I read a lot of reviews on a wide variety of laptops, and the MacBook Pro had one of the better battery lifes. But, in use, it didn't work that way. My 2013 MacBook Air continues to operate just as long without a charge as this 2017 Pro. Since returning this MacBook Pro, I've begun to use the Microsoft Surface Book because it's a computer my company sent me. At first I didn't like. It still isn't a thin, svelte computer like the popular ultrabooks are. I do agree with Apple, having a touchscreen and a stylus is a waste. Like the TouchBar on the MacBook, they're more of a gimmick than anything else. But... and this is the most important thing to me, the transition out of the Apple ecosystem isn't that bad. I can still do everything I did on my Mac. The absolute ONLY thing I miss from MacOS is that I cannot send texts from my desktop anymore. Oh well, now I've joined the other 95% of the population. I wouldn't recommend buying this computer. Apple needs to retool their computer line and I, personally, refuse to buy another one until they do. I should add, I didn't purchase this at full retail. I was able to buy this for $1220 (tax included). Despite getting a great price for a brand new Mac, I still returned it and got my money back.

    Battery is bad

So I bought this computer less than 2 years ago and its currently shipped off somewhere and being fixed. The battery stopped charging and stayed at zero. Talked to someone and he said I could get a free battery because the battery in a batch of models was bad. Great a free battery!! Jk, I go up there and they say yeah no free battery for you cuz this is a fixed model. Battery costs $200+ tax and was said to last 3 years I play games on my computer like undertale, roblox, and Sims. I also watch youtube videos and listen to SoundCloud. This is BS and please get a dell or something instead. Besides the battery I love my computer. But I had to replace my battery in my last computer too so maybe I'll get a gaming computer instead. Save your self the money and buy a different computer please.

I bought this computer when my other MacBook Pro (13” mid 2012) started glitching from a hardware design flaw Apple refuses to admit. I gave Apple another chance and purchased this, and I love it so far. However, I’ve already noticed a few screen glitches (flickers of pink or digital squares) whenever I’ve watched Netflix or after opening the computer when it’s slept for awhile. I’m getting concerned I’m going to need to use my Apple Care soon.

My beloved 2016 MacBook Pro just like this one had to be replaced, and Best Buy's price and service were excellent, even though FedEx took an extra day to deliver. But this computer is not even close in quality to my old one. I am so disappointed. And surprised with Apple, as I have never had an Apple product that felt cheap. This one does. I should have gotten a reburbished older model.

Was excited and ready to replace my 2011 MacBook Pro. The keyboard clickety clack on the 2017 model is too much for me, may be ok for you. I really did not like the noise! Also no USB plug-in which I understand is the way technology is going so I can't complain too much about that. I actually returned this MacBook due to the keyboard noise and got my first iPad instead. I will keep my 2011 MacBook Pro.

I bought the Mac book pro with mammoth of expectations. But to my surprise the laptop was not charging at all It was less than two weeks and it was asking me to replace the battery Though Apple provides one year warranty, I am seriously doubting its quality What if it happens after an year and I don't have apple care.. I am doomed.

Sales was fine. Geek Squad handling of data transfer from old MacBook was very poor. Took 4 days instead of 2. Old laptop is now not functional. New laptop was not configured properly. New laptop was not properly passcode, which has required 2 additional Geek Squad appointments (as well as one to Apple to see if they can fix the log-in problem). Still not resolved!

Bought the Apple care protection plan for $269. Apple store (in Greensboro, NC) turned my daughter away, at 6pm, saying they couldn’t help her...store didn’t close until 9pm. She’s now left without a computer in college, can’t take her online assessments or view her notes. Thanks Apple for standing by your products and protection plans!

If you are new to MacPro, this might be a good choice. But if you had a MacPro and want to transfer content, it might be hard. I liked my old one, but I do not like the fact that Apple totally changed the connection ports - nothing in common between the two versions. You have to buy adaptors and the adaptors might not even work.

Despite the extra money spent on a brand new apple product, there were several issues within the first couple of weeks (i.e. it shut down without warning and didn't turn on until a while later). Expectations shot, will never buy a brand new Mac again.

I have issues with the screen every once a while. Also it gets so hot and slow when I do some work, or even when its charging. I am not sure if that happens in this model to everyone or just me. I think with this price I thought I would get something great from Apple.

This computer is nothing special. I had to purchase an external USB drive which was frustrating. Serves its purpose of being a laptop but for the price and Apple name, I am underwhelmed. Not a big fan of this computer and probably would not buy another.
