I already own a 15" MacBook Pro and needed something smaller to use while on the road. I originally purchased a Surface Laptop 2 and even tried a Surface Pro 6 and ended up taking them both back due to a variety of glitches. I heard that they were using a quad-core processor so I decided to give the 13" MacBook Pro a chance, and for the first time in a while, only got 8GB of Ram. I have to say that I was stunned at the speed and performance; opening programs like Lightroom and Photoshop were a breeze, and the movements and clicks were smooth as silk. I routinely use multiple programs at once and it rarely stutters. On top of that, the size is small enough to fit into a small bag and it's design remains one of the most beautiful on the market.

This laptop does not have ports for camera or phone. You have to buy an extra external port. This laptop is good if you like Apple. If you can afford the bigger one, I would go a step bigger.

I bought this MBP as a replacement for a 6-year-old MBP. The speed and upgrades are awesome, and I love how snappy the computer is. I do video editing from time to time, and the render speeds are great, too. The Touch Bar is a nice addition, though I'm getting used to it still (my fingers accidentally hit it while I'm typing, and that's a little annoying). The battery life is nice, and I haven't had any issues with it. So why only 4 stars? I don't like the USB-C offerings. I now have to carry 4 dongles with me, and it's annoying. There's not built in SD card slot, which I use a lot. So now I have a dongle. I miss the mag-safe adapter. The trackpad sometimes won't click when I'm trying to drag something (I'm guessing that's a software glitch that needs to be addressed - it's mostly infrequent but annoying when it happens). Overall it's a great machine, and the cons wouldn't keep me away from re-purchasing it. But I think the cons are significant enough to share about in a review.

This is a fantastic laptop, if you can get a good deal on it. Bestbuy is always running discounts so wait a bit and keep watching and you'll be glad. I got this particular one for $1400, after $500 off and $100 student discount, which is a fantastic deal. At most, I would say this laptop is worth $1500-1550. So about the laptop. The good things about this laptop include the usual perks of buying a mac. The forcetouch trackpad is excellent, the taller 16:10 aspect ratio is better for most things, and the overall build quality is top notch. I've been a windows user all my life, and I do think the mac is definitely built the best. Another convenience is having 4 usb-c ports and being able to charge with any of them. Lastly, the battery life is about 7-10 hrs, depending on what you're doing. I get around 8, and I run Chrome and spotify for the most of it. It charges up pretty quickly though, and the included charger can also charger your phone if it is usb-c. The laptop does have a few issues, however. The biggest I think is heat dissipation. It gets kinda hot near the touchbar area if you're doing anything somewhat intensive. The keyboard doesn't get hot, but it still makes me worry. Second, the touchbar really is just a gimmick. It actually gives some things more steps, such as changing your key backlighting. Lastly, a big issue many people have with this is the keyboard. Apparently it is an issue where dust will get under they keys and cause them to stop working. Apple now has a program however to repair your keyboard for free if that happens, so not to worry. The keyboard does have very low travel, but I haven't found it too much of a bother. The only problem is sometimes it's harder to feel out which key is which. Overall, this is a great laptop. If you're on the market, I highly recommend the 2018 models over the 2017 or 2019. Intel upgraded their processors from dual core to quad core in 2018, so even though the 2017 models may be $100-200 cheaper, you're getting nearly twice the performance with the 2018s, which is definitely worth. You're also getting 4 ports instead of two, and the T2 security chip. As for the 2019 models, they just came out, and the performance boost is not at all that significant compared to the 2018s. So in that case, saving the $100-200 is definitely worth it. I hope this was helpful!

I've been using Macs since the 80s, and am not interested in using Windows, so this is not a review of Mac v. Windows. It is a review of how this particular Mac laptop squares with other options on the Mac side of things. My previous laptop was a 2014 15" MacBook Pro. It was the maxed out version of that laptop when I bought it. It was super fast, and it ran very hot, and had issues (I think because it was so fast and ran so hot). Anyway, it died this week (my fault, spilled a little bit of tea into my laptop bag, and toasted it). This laptop is a downgrade. Less RAM, slower processor, smaller screen, fewer ports. It is also about half what I would have had to pay for to get a MacBook Pro with similar specs to the one I am replacing. First, this laptop runs much less hot. I am typing this while downloading roughly 50GB of sound samples to install on the external SSD attached to it. It also seems to have multitasking down to a much more seamless process than my old MacBook. I am not missing a beat typing this while having multiple very large CPU intensive processes running in other programs. So, while it can't do the video or photo editing that my old MacBook could do (that had a dedicated graphics processor), I don't think I will miss it much, and didn't do that much creative graphics editing on my laptop anyway. For everything else, in real world use, this laptop is definitely snappier. I don't think it is just the newer generation CPU. I am guessing it is better integration of the OS with the laptop bits and pieces as a whole. The gestalt is just much improved. I was very nervous about the change in ports, knowing I would need dongles and docks and adapters. This has turned out to be true but less of a hassle or cost than I thought it would be. s I hope to have solved this issue by getting a couple of cheapo USB-C to Thunderbolt 3 adapters online, and then getting a new external monitor (Samsung SH850) which has a USB-C input port that then basically converts the monitor to a hub (it has a USB 3 port, a DisplayPort input) a headphone jack, and it even powers the MacBook Pro through the USB-C connection. Sweet. Lastly, the screen is so much improved over my last laptop and This is light, solid, and so far, seems to be about perfect for my needs.

This is my first apply MacBook Pro and the experience has been excellent so far. I've had it for about 2 months without any issues. It books up very quick, less than 15 seconds, and ready to do whatever you need it to. It is really fast and light, very thin. It is almost too thin seems like. I had to get a cover for it to make it a bit thicker. Opening the laptop is easier with the cover on also. The touch bar is very handy and that is show the options available of whatever you have on the screen. It does not have a dedicated power button though. Just open the laptop and it boots up. The battery lasts all day long for the person that’s not close to a power outlet. Overall I think it is a great product.

Best Buy beat every deal on the new MacBook Pro, hands down. I thought buying the MBP from them on Black Friday at $150 off was a screaming deal. You just don't see CURRENT Apple products on sale... EVAR. Then today, I received an email for a 1 day Apple sale at BB and the discount was doubled. $300 off the brand new MBP!? Could not be happier with the Price Match Guarantee... they honored the new price for my purchase and refunded some well needed cash for the Holiday... The computer itself is nothing short of amazing. It is fast, looks slick and is much more compact than any 13 inch computer I've ever held. The aluminum case screams durability and has a very clean and professional look, especially in Space Gray. The touchbar is fantastic and saves time for quick functions like volume and brightness. Screen detail is ridiculously... nice quiet keyboard. USB-C ports are great! I am glad they kept the headphone jack for another year. Overall a wonderful product and purchasing experience. Ordered on-line, picked-up in my local store 2 days later. Well done!

This laptop is for sure my dream laptop, you can do so much with it and big enough that you do not struggle with the keyboards (I have large hands) and small enough to take anywhere. It is not as light as the air but I am not bothered by the weight is good. Charges fast and last a long run. The only issue was solved super fast in Best Buy, my speakers were damage but since I had apple care they exchange it and no problems so far with this. And the best part of the computer is the touchbar, you do not realize how much you will love until you try it.

I've owned so many Macs and just added this MacBook Pro to my collection. Amazing speed and quality as usual. Worth every penny. It does get a little frustrating on having no USB ports, but I'd rather buy an adaptor than deal with a pc that runs terrible. The size of the laptop 13' is ideal. I've always had 15' but decided to get a smaller one and it was the right decision. So light and portable.

This is my first experience with a MacBook so I have a lot to learn. The size is perfect and it's very light weight. It is fast and the battery life is great. The keyboard is a little smaller (condensed) than I'm used to so initially lots of typos. All in all, this is the best laptop I've ever owned. I recommend this laptop.

My newest Macbook Pro in many years and it certainly cost some money, however it should give me enough years, if any indication from my last Macbook. In comparison to a recent Dell 2:1 7300, it is much lighter and more powerful. But then the Dell cost 1/3 as much. The 2018 Macbook Pro has four slots for dongles, and it is annoying that you have to by a dongle given none are included. The new keyboard with gel/plastic forms under the keys, as compared to the 2017 model do work well. A friend has the 2017 and that keyboard is glitchy, and he finds it quite loud for typing. I would agree given I have compared both now side to side. The 2018 has a faster processor, but for what I use it for I do not think I would notice from last year to this. However, I dont change out computers often and the newer CPU's will last longer down the road. The SDHD is not upgradeable (mine is 512gb) and that is a shame for later.

This was a great upgrade from my former mid-2011 Macbook Air (4GB). The 8GB memory is underused even with mulitple apps open, including Parallels Virtual Machine. The long lasting battery is fantastic - I get easily 8 hours on a charge plus charging is quick. This laptop has lightning fast SSD. Although the USB-3 ports requires a dongle for older USB devices, the data transfer speeds are 10 times faster on newer devices saving time on backups. Virtual touchbar is a nice-to-have feature which changes depending on apps. I didn't think I'd use it that much but I am using it more and more. I love the touch ID for unlocking password manager and paying with ApplePay. I expect this will serve me as well as my last Macbook Air which I owned for an unheard of 7 years. Highly recommend.

We needed a laptop to integrate with our imac 27 and iPhones that we could take on the road in our Motorhome. So we needed wireless features, 13,.3 inch screen with lit up keyboard with all the Apple features and icloud options. We chose the top model for all the normal reasons and long life. Fast, dependable and easy to work with our other Apple products. We used Best Buys 0 interest financing to help out.

This was a replacement for a 2012 Macbook Pro that will no longer be OS updatable. The MBP 13" is fast and unexpectedly very lightweight- almost as light as a 13" Macbook Air. I like the feel of the keyboard despite what others say and Apple says it will replace the "butterfly" keyboard for two years from purchase if the reported defect appears. On the deficit side, the battery seems to discharge under normal use faster than my Macbook Air (not likely to last the published 10 hours) but recharges quickly. Main complaint is lack of ports. Must buy adaptors to use any peripherals.

This MacBook Pro is an upgrade from a previous MacBook Pro that’s 6 years old. The setup was simple and so was the OS to Mojave. The new MacBook Pro touchbar and fingerprint ID works great and easy to setup too. It’s also lighter, slimmer and looks amazing in the space gray. Very happy with the purchase.

Was fortunate that I was able to return my 2017 i5 8GB 512GB 13 MacBook Pro on Thursday 7/12. Was exactly the 45th day I had to return it when Apple announced the 2018 quad core MacBook Pro's. Quickly returned my 2017. Saturday I went back and forth between the 2018 MacBook Pro 13 and Surface Book 2 13.5. Low and behold after further researching my local Best Buy actually had the 2018 13" i5 8GB 512GB in stock. I quickly placed an online order and went to the store to pick it up. I can say that after using it extensively since Saturday evening, it is a major improvement over the 2017 models. Much snappier, battery life has been great, the new keyboard is a lot nicer, and the True Tone display is a welcomed addition. The SSD in this screams! Glad Apple finally got the 8th Gen chips out. And much happier that I was still within my exchange window.
