Have not had this long enough to provide much of a review but our MacBook Pro has been a good laptop so far. If we could have repaired our older Mac at a reasonable price we would have done so instead of buying a new one.

Performance & Workflow The M3 chip is incredibly efficient. Whether I’m compiling C++ code or running local LLMs for research, the build times are significantly faster than my previous machine. The 14-inch form factor is the perfect middle ground—it fits easily on cramped lecture hall desks but provides enough screen real estate for split-screen coding (VS Code on one side, documentation on the other). The Display & Keyboard The Liquid Retina XDR display is a game-changer for long coding sessions. The high refresh rate (ProMotion) makes scrolling through thousands of lines of code feel butter-smooth, which surprisingly reduces eye strain. The keyboard feels tactile and reliable, which is a must when you're typing all day. Battery Life & Portability The battery life is the real MVP. I can go through a full day of classes, labs, and study sessions without ever hunting for a power outlet. Even under a heavy dev load, it sips power compared to Intel-based laptops. Pros: • Thermal Management: Even during long compiles, the fans rarely kick on, and it stays cool. • Port Selection: Having an HDMI port and SD slot is great for presentations and external storage. • Portability: Light enough to carry between buildings all day. Cons: • Price: It’s a significant investment, but for a degree that relies entirely on your hardware, it’s worth the premium. • Base Memory: Make sure to spec your RAM (Unified Memory) according to your specific workflow needs, as it isn't upgradeable later. Bottom Line: If you are a student looking for a laptop that will last through your entire degree and into your first job, this is it.

It’s been very fast overall but sometimes it frozes. It has been giving me trouble to close apps such as Microsoft Word.
