I bought the Mac Book Pro for my son who is into music and art. I bought him the original Mac Book sometime ago. As his skills increased so did his need for a more powerful machine to be able to make cartoon and ad voice and music. He also needs it for his art classes in college. He is thrilled with his new more powerful Mac Book Pro.

Super fast connection and easy to use. The keys quieter than the 2017 model. Also nice size and lightweight. I would recommend buying 512 Gb that should be plenty of room. Also love the Touch ID to unlock

Beautiful laptop, plagued by software issues?

The laptop is a beautiful piece of technology- design wise, feature wise, etc. It hits all the marks for what I could want from my laptop aesthetically... sleek design and color, solid feel, good quality, the touch bar is a very amusing and fun gimmick, etc. But this is my second one- the first I got open box for about $800 off, and wound up having to return it due to an unfixable issue that caused the screen to flicker, turn neon green, cut in and out, and spasm when I went into full-screen on YouTube or Netflix. I figured that was an isolated issue, but I've unfortunately run into the same issue to a much lesser degree on this laptop as well. Occasional screen flickering/resolution issues that are unprompted... nothing to the point of needing to use my Apple Care but it has been mildly frustrating since I spent well over $2,000 on a laptop that should in all honesty be able to write my college papers and be my conscious AI for the price. If you're diehard for Apple and the ecosystem, it's fantastic having a MacBook just for convenience. But for over $2,000 you could get a next-level Windows laptop or PC that would easily out perform this one, so if that trade off is worth it to you then there's your answer.

I bought this MacBook Pro a few weeks ago and I'm loving it so far. I love the faster speed, bigger screen, and the Touch Bar. A draw back of this computer and why I didn't give it five stars is, it doesn't have a port to connect a USB cord and it's expensive however, its well worth buying if your a fan and user of Apple and MacBooks.

I'm coming from a early 2013 MacBook Pro Retina 15 so this doesn't feel substantially faster or better. However there little things make this a much better machine. It is lighter and you can feel it, but still feels solid like the previous generation. I wasn't fond of the touch bar initially however i find it quite useful now. Unlike previous versions this is able to easily handle my LG 43' 4k Monitor, Samsung 28' 4k Monitor and my LG 34UM95 34' monitor at the same time. While running final cut or other resource intensive programs...

    Great laptop, bad keyboard

This laptop was available as an open box in excellent condition which saved me several hundred dollars. I was concerned that the description didn't include the model and when it arrived it wasn't the lastet model but instead from 2017, which has the known butterfly keyboard issue. Apple will replace the keyboard for free if it breaks so I decided to keep it. After about 3 weeks the spacebar started to stick so I've been blowing air on the keyboard since then to keep it working. If you're not in a rush to get a replacement laptop then consider the keyboard issues when you purchase it. I had to buy two adapters to go from my previous Thunderbolt 2 connectors to Thunderbolt 3. The 3's are nice even if there is no mag switch. I got Apple adapters to avoid any quality problems. Again consider purchasing up front. It was surprisingly easy to restore everything from the old laptop using my Apple Time Machine! I'm glad I got that several years ago. I love everything else about this laptop. Performance is good, retina display looks good, light weight, etc. I like the Apple environment.

This is my first MacBook and I couldn’t be happier. It took some getting use to but the trackpad makes things so much easier and I didn’t think I’d use the touch bar but it’s really helpful for writing papers in Microsoft word.

I purchased this to replace my aging but still great 2012 MacBook Pro. Let me just say WOW! It is everything I needed to produce work that impressed and to meet ever shrinking deadlines. If you're a working professional or serious amateur creative, you won't go wrong with this.

So This will be my second Mac book pro and the only reason I upgrade was due to the growing business of a being a filmmaker. This computer is a power house, a work horse with very high preforming speeds. I’m very happy with this purchase and will continue to buy apple products

This thing will do everything you throw at it AND make your coffee in the morning. The port situation is a pain sometimes (dongle life), but is a beautifully crafted piece of tech that can last a long time, if you go for the higher trim with a better GPU and storage. What makes it all worth it to me is that the great ease and value in resale unlike most other laptops.

I upgraded from a 2012-era MBPr to this model, 15" touchbar. I love the faster CPU, faster disk, longer battery life, but overall it's been a fair let down. The track pad area has gone from too small to massive; I touch it while typing all the time, which causes the mouse to jump around on the screen, possibly resulting in changing window focus. The touch bar is obnoxious for anyone that uses the escape key frequently; you have no idea if it's registered the touch or not, since it literally is like typing on a hard plastic sheet. The actual keyboard is not much better than a hard plastic sheet; the keys move very little and if you use a mechanical keyboard on your desktop, then move to this, you'll just be slamming the keys, very loudly I would add. With the ports limited to only USB-C, forget about the old accidental kick of the power cable just causing it to pop off, and prepare to buy adapters for your older USB devices. The back-lit Apple logo is also gone, so good luck determining if the unit has actually powered off. I've had to resort to manually selecting suspend, or using a suspend button I've added to the touch bar, to perform that task before closing the lid, and it still occasionally continues running, which means I pull out a hot dead laptop a few hours later when I get to my destination. It's a good laptop, but not great; wish there was a mixture of 2012 and 2017, where track pad is in between, old keyboard returns, throw in the old power connector and a single USB-A port, give me an escape key.

Historically, I have always had issues with my WindowsOS laptops and the updates drove me crazy. All my trusted friends use Mac's and I decided to switch over. Although it took time to learn the differences, each week I end with enjoying the power, capabilities, and options of this MacBook. I don't know why I didn't do it sooner seeing I already have the iPhone, AppleTV, and an iPad. Everything seems to talk to each other and keeps all my data in sync.

If need/want a Mac, might as well drop a couple extra $$ and get the Pro 15 inch version. My only qualm was that nobody carried the 1 TB option and would require ordering one in (something I could do myself), but I needed to have a replacement in-hand pronto. So settled for the 500 GB option; the only other thing is that I wish that there was an option for more than 16 GB of ram. Over all I am still very pleased with the purchase of this Macbook.
