got a notification about this great deal, and immediately grabbed it.
although this is not the latest 2019 version of MBP, this 2018 version is very closed in performance and costs hundreds of $ less.
Applications and games run smoothly, and fast. the AMD graphics card does a great job.
the touch bar is super cool, and easy to use and customize.
Retina display is super bright and crisp. great for common use and for drawing software .

Keyboard is a deal breaker

Please note that three stars is my lowest score for a product that is intact and working. This is roughly equivalent to a lot of the one star reviews you may have seen. Yes, the product works and is manufactured well. But the unnecessarily thin design has unacceptable disadvantages. Cooling is compromised, so performance is throttled. Ports are gone, so you're living in dongle land. The battery life obviously could be much better if the chasis we're 50% thicker. And most importantly, the keyboard is reduced to almost imperceptible travel. It's so sensitive that you can't even touch your fingers to the keys while they're waiting to type another letter.
It's marketed as a PRO laptop. The PRO model is not supposed to be the thinnest or lightest in a company's lineup. It's supposed to give up some of that in favor of usability and power. Things like a wide array of ports, a battery that lasts all day and more, and cooling that is good enough to allow the CPU and GPU to run full speed for minutes at a time, repeatedly. Full speed doesn't just mean 100% utilization; it means 100% of that processor's rated throughput - ie no throttling. I don't expect any laptop to sustain that for hours with no break, but an expensive "Pro" laptop should be able to sustain it for several minutes with no trouble, and do that over and over throughout the work day.
But the compromise in this "ProAir" MacBook that is simply not acceptable for me is the keyboard. I've used microwave ovens with better keys than this thing has.
If you haven't had the chance to try one yet, unroll two sheets of aluminum foil on a cushion, one on top of the other. Hold your hands over them and pretend to type. Every time a finger contacts the foil and you didn't mean to type that key, head over to the backspace key. And if you contact the foil again on the way there, backspace some more when you get there.
This computer's keyboard doesn't feel exactly like that, of course, but it feels every bit as good as that. And we haven't even started on the key repeat issues I learned about when I googled it.
People who keep this computer and use it every day must have some very important reason to stick with it, because it's drawbacks are enormous! And this is coming from someone who has avoided Windows for decades, but needs to run Adobe software. I'm not at all happy to be on a Windows laptop, but at least it's a high-quality machine with full-fledged professional features, that is comfortable and productive to use all day.

I bought this computer as a requirement for a design program I am in at college. It has specs that make it better than the average computer, but got it on sale at a reasonable price (at least for an apple computer). The screen is stunning and large, and it’s surprisingly light. The keyboard is pleasant to use (no more jamming on the keys!). Would recommend to any college student or anyone who needs a good and fast computer.

I love my new MacBook Pro. It has not disappoint at all. It is super fast and I love that. I can have it up and running from sleep mode to ready to work in the matter of seconds.
I use it as a development machine and sometimes I have a virtual machine running Windows Server 2016 and my MacBook does not deteriorate in performance.
Added to all of that I got a great deal on the MacBook from Best Buy and their service was great.

The latest MacBook Pro does not disappoint. It is very fast and responsive, charges quickly, and has a quiet keyboard. The Touch Bar works well. I was skeptical of that feature but I do like to use it to quickly modify volume and screen brightness. I can see the utility of creating custom shortcuts for some applications but I have not tried that yet.
Bottom line: lots of horsepower, boots fast, responds fast, charges fast. A good buy!

This is the first time buying an Apple Computer product. So far, so good. Having a few issues with getting used to using a Mac instead of a PC, but that isn't Apples fault. Once I took a free class from the Apple store, navigating my MacBook became easier. Will be going back for more guidance at the Apple store to get more instruction, hints and tips. The people at the Apple store have been great. Sales people at Best Buy were willing to help and answer questions too, but I don't feel comfortable about taking up their time when there are customers waiting.
As far as performance goes, so far I haven't encountered any problems. I maybe not the right person to be reviewing performance since I haven't ever owned a Mac before. But no complaints so far.

Since day one! #1 on everything! Price was right (at the time) processor is so fast, the Touch Bar is pretty cool an amazing yes amazing to use and see working in all positive ways. The i7 chip is the best. No problems running premier pro or multitasking while doing heavy editing and cropping and cutting and watching a movie at the same time. This MacBook Pro is the WAY TO GO! I only wish we knew this sooner. Enjoy!

I've had several MacBooks and Apple desktops. I put off buying this one because I was frustrated by the lack of ports, and stories I heard about the keyboard. I'm happy to say the keyboard in the 2018 model is no issue for me, I actually like it. I've even found the touch bar useful. I would give it 5 stars, but the ports issue and charger are issues that bother me. It's ridiculous to have to buy do many adapters. And not having the extension cord included with the charger seems like an attempt to cut cost and nothing else. Those were disappointing. Otherwise, it's a solid laptop with a great screen.

I had to replace my other Mac Book Pro because my screen cracked. It was a 13 inch, so this is definitely a bump up. I really like the touch bar feature, it's pretty cool. I hate that it's missing so many features that I really needed though, like the CD drive, the SD card drive, USB drive. You have to buy these in addition to your computer as well as a USC adapter. It ends up costing you another $300 on top of the computer price. Apple could have done better than that, but it is what it is.

As a writer by profession, I require specific things from a computer. Speed, lots of memory accuracy, a strong visual picture, simplicity. I upgraded from an 8-year-old Mac and the difference is night and day. I use this computer daily either at home or at studios. It's the best computer I've owned so far. Love it.

This laptop is absolutely incredible. The 6-core processor and dedicated graphics processor handle anything I've thrown at it thus far. I code/game and this is a great machine for both tasks. The battery lasts quite a while unless you're playing games. The build quality is what you'd expect from Apple, awesome!

The quality of the screen, keyboard, IOS, battery life and WiFi just make using this laptop feel like to drive a Ferrari (mac) after having driven a Ford (PC) for many years. If you have an iPhone, the connectivity across devices is a huge benefits on documents, photos and videos. 300% recommend it

I was in a position that I had to replace my 2013 Apple laptop and the newest version happened to be on sale. I was pleasantly surprised how easy it was to get it up and running. The only thing I'm not crazy about is using three fingers to drag and drop items. Takes some getting used to doing. It is much lighter than my other laptop which is a bonus when traveling.

i7 6 core Processing power is insane. It’s insanely fast and the graphics are intense enough (and no lag) that I can actually do a good amount of gaming for a Mac which I could never really do in former generations. I’ve been using MacBook Pro since 2007. Although for my main use (DJn) the trackpad is way too big. The gesture permormance is top notch. You can’t really rest your hands on the laptop to use the trackpad like you used to. You have to put you hand almost all the way to the extreme sides of it or your wrist hits the trackpad and moves or clicks something you didn’t mean to click or move. Otherwise you’d have to have your hands completely above (not resting at all) the laptop, just fingers on the touchpad. The Touch Bar is pretty meaningless for my use.it has cool app dependent shortcuts but Even day to day use there’s no point to it for me. It’s cool to look at and see the things it can do. I enjoyed having the actual buttons that used to be in the place of the Touch Bar. I don’t like having to access the touchbar before I want to raise or lower screen brightness, keyboard brightness or volume adjustments. It’s an unneeded step in my opinion. The fingerprint option is cool but it’s not breaking any new barriers that haven’t been around already. However it seems much more perfected over earlier designs from other manufacturers . It reads at much faster speed my iPhone. It’s on instantaneously. Who has that kind of time to wait milliseconds nowadays?
The newer butterfly keyboard leaves a lot to be desired as well. It’s too flat and can stick or double make. From what I understand Apple is replacing it in 2019 models. The c ports have an enormous transfer rate. I have several Samsung T5s running all manner of media and DJ software running and connected and there’s no lag whatsoever. It’s fantastic! If I want to load a 4 hour 4K video file click and boom it’s there almost before I press it. Great for mixing videos live on a stadium screen. It’s a great machine. It would get 5 stars if it weren’t for the keyboard and if it had a normal sized MacBook touchpad.

Works fantastically! All I expected and more. The keyboard is very very smooth and nice to use. I had an older Mac and I am impressed with the speed and responsiveness of this newer Mac. Not wild about the new USB ports. I have to buy adaptors. The Touch Bar is fun and I use it, but it does not really do anything special to help me out. The larger touchpad area is great!

This mac pro is a performance beast. I run heavy duty ML jobs as well as spend a lot of time editing RAW pictures on Photoshop, Lightroom software. Till date there isn't a glitch or hang while usage, unlike my old dell xps. Its sleek and light, audio is great and love the touch bar, I highly recommend for people who are looking for high performance laptop.
