Customers admire the MacBook Pro 16" for its expansive screen, impressive performance, and ease of use. Many appreciate the convenient Touch Bar and long battery life, along with its lightweight design and high-quality speakers. However, some find the price to be high and express concerns about the limited number of USB ports and occasional heat generation. A few users also mention noticeable fan noise at times.

I bought the MacBook Pro 16 inch on 12-13-2019, which means by now I have owned the machine for a full week.
BackGround
I work as a Field Sales Manager, which translates to my office has to be portable; that I use Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Chrome, and email of course, hence why I chose to go with the base model 16 inch.
In the time that I have owned the MacBook Pro 16 inch, the device has not disappointed. I thought being a 4lb device, that it would be a difference from the 13 inch 2016 MBP i moved on from, and for me it hasn't been that noticeable.
2nd, I thought that because the device was 16 inch instead of 13, that the device would be too big, or that the size would not be portable, and I have quickly gotten use to the extra screen real estate. Yes, the device is bigger from the 13inch and would not be all that portable to some, but for me it works.
3rd, the MacBook Pro 16 inch was not first choice, I was building the 2019 13 inch model, and when i would build it out with the most comparable specs to the base MBP 16 inch, the 13 inch actually cost more than the 16 inch, and then mix that in with standard 512GB, Standard DDRM4 Ram over DDRM 3 on the 13 inch, bigger screen, updated cooling, dedicated graphics card, bigger battery, it turned more and more into a no brainer.
4th, Adding to the MBP16 not being my first choice, i was seriously leaning towards PC, simply because I wanted to be able to game on the device. However, when i was looking at the MBP16 competition, the internals were comparable, but what wasn't their was the build quality and the piece of mind of having accessible direct manufacturer support if I ever needed it.
Competition I tried, wAS THE Razer Blade 13 inch, why? Because I was looking for an ultraportable, MBP look a like, and my only two choices I was coming across was the Microsoft Surface Laptop, and the razer and since you can't connect any form of an egpu to the MSL the Razer was my only option.
Well guess what happend, i ordered the RBS 13inch and the moment I pulled it out of the box, it was bent. You could clearly see it from the keyboard, and when i went to put it down on a table to start typing it wobbled like a cheap diner uneven table. So end result I quickly sent it back and to make the matter even better, RB wont reimburse me for their support care because it was already activated when the device was ordered, so suffice to say I won't ever order another RBS device, ever, no matter the price.
Lastly, the reason I went with the base model 16 inch MBP, is because of what I was going to need from the device. Since I was not ever, going to be 3D rendering, intense gaming, or cutting movies, the Base Model was the perfect choice.
Before I bought and finally boiled down to my decision, I had watched review video after review video and had read review after review, I was getting caught up in what I was reading and losing sight of reason and what I was really needing.
What snapped me out of it, was a video that wasn't even related to the MBP 16, it was a video by Matt Gonzalez, he was listing out why he uses the machines he uses in his daily and how each had a purpose based on his needs and that got me to think and why I didn't need to buy a spec'd out MBP 16, instead going with the an Open Box Base Model would do just fine.
So before you by, don't give into sales people, YouTube Vloggers, or even friends, but trust yourself and analyze your needs and go from there, because in the end you are your best sales person ;)

After not purchasing a laptop for 12 plus years, I am so glad that I finally got one to help with working from home during the COVID-19 plandemic. The sound on this computer is really good for a laptop and that is one of the main things I needed for the Zoom/Skype/Facetime world we now live in. On other devices I just couldn't hear clearly during meetings with many musicians and students simultaneously. Having owned an iMac for four years, it is so nice to have this more portable version to work with in different areas of the house. Of course it does everything the iMac does so in that sense it is far superior to my iPad. Screen is a great size for seeing things well, like hand positions of piano students etc. Some reviewers complained that it was heavy for a laptop but it is not bothering me, although I do not carry it with me everyday on public transport. It's fast, powerful and reliable. No there aren't USB ports, but you can get an adaptor I've read. Would highly recommend if you have the budget for it. I'm sure the smaller screen versions are also good if you don't need such a large screen.

This Can Replace My 27" iMac

This new MacBook Pro 16" with 16g of Ram and 512g drive can replace my 2014 27" iMac with 32g of Ram. The vivid colors, screen resolution and processor speed better competes with my iMac, other than the screen size. I used a Thunderbolt 2 connection, along with an adapter to USB C, from my iMac to the new MacBook Pro and voila, a totally mirrored version of my iMac is now on my new MacBook Pro.
I use a partition on my hard drive to run several Windows programs, and my new MacBook Pro handles everything I can hit it with, and some. What's really great is the Thunderbolt transfer along with all my settings from my iMac moved over to my MacBook Pro. You should always try this method when you buy a new computer. No fuss, no mess, and I'm grooving after a 20 minute transfer.
I had a MacBook Air mid 2013 generation with an I7 processor, with only 8G of Ram and a 256g hard drive, which was the max for all 3 at that time. I traded it in at Best Buy for the new MacBook Pro and I received a $305 credit; what could be better?
The battery life is great, except when running my Windows partition. I would estimate a 10-15% battery life reduction when I run the Windows partition. I find the I7 processor to be more than enough speed for what I use the MacBook Pro for, which is when I travel, or when I'm on my Lanai. My iMac is used in my home/office.
I've played some intensive games on the new MacBook, and I've not been disappointed at all.
The new keyboard is a pleasure to use, and reminds me of the ease of my previous MacBook Air that I traded in.
Yes, you'll need one or more converters in order to use any USB 2.0 attachments, including thumb drives, but at $10-$30 bucks for the converters, it's a no brainer. I still use my Apple Airport Extreme as my router and backup device, even though Apple no longer supports it.
If you're in the market for a new Notebook, and you're an Apple user, this is the machine for you!!!

For people who don’t want to read all of this, I’ll sum it up for you: amazing computer for the price.
-great battery life
-easy to use
-not too big
-good bang for your buck
-works perfectly for college students
I previously had a 2015 base model MBP. The computer still works perfectly fine but I wanted to upgrade it since it was getting a bit sluggish when doing some simple task. I was a bit hesitant on spending $2000+ on a laptop, but I do not regret it at all. I’m not a professional artist who needs the power of this computer on a daily basis so I decided to stick with this base model. I am a senior in college studying marketing and I have to say this is the best computer for even doing simple task. I am running excel spreadsheets daily (sometimes having over ten open simultaneously) and running school software on top of that. The battery life is incredible (last me about 10 hours on one charge) and the performance is outstanding. Apple has never let me down with their products (except for the butterfly keyboard, but that’s a review of its own) and I am very pleased with this computer. If you are hesitant about spending the money like I was, I have to tell you that this really is an amazing computer for the price.

I purchased this MacBook Pro for my daughter who just left for college and she is beyond thrilled with it.
It is very light so carrying it to classes is a breeze, it is fast, the battery lasts for a long time and the display is fantastic for homework, watching movies, and even editing pictures or videos.

I’ve used this laptop for almost two years and I love it. The giant screen allows me to watch anything with ease and I honestly don’t hate the touch bar. I don’t know what everyone’s deal against it was about. Great reliable laptop with tons of usage. Hoping this will last me many more years.

this review is for the regular consumer like my self that is not a Professional.
I was watching a lot of reviews and videos about this MacBook and how is for pros blah blah blah. you already know how it is.
but this entry level MacBook Pro 16 inch is here for a reason and apple knows it, I'm the type of person that love tech and I'm willing to pay the price for it and this MacBook is totally worth it,
I do light editing and most of the time just emails web browsing, watch movies, Netflix, etc... so in my opinion this MacBook is targeted to those who love quality tech and power. like my self.
now if ur a pro and depend on a powerhouse then you should go for the i9 version and bump up ram and graphics.
but if you're like me that like to have the latest and greatest, this MacBook is perfect. I know there's cheaper stuff out there even the entry level MacBook Pro 13 inches looks like a better deal for what I use this MacBook for.
but the bigger size screen alone is a big factor for my to pick this one over the 13 inches, not to mention that I'm coming from a 15 inches MacBook Pro and let me tell you the keyboard is a super big upgrade. I can type on this thing all day.
what else can I say ( JUST BUY THIS MacBook ) don't go for the i9 if your not someone that needs the computer for editing. this one easily gets editing done as well so if you decide to start doing editing down the road, this MacBook is powerful enough to get the job done.

So it came time for remote school for my son, who is a high school senior this year, and for some reason our aging backup PC laptops just decided to go downhill all of a sudden and weren't dependable; and he needed something quickly. Of course all that is left in stock are some of the more expensive computers...so this beast was the one. I don't regret it. We likely would have bought him a [probably lower priced] MacBook for college anyway. So, Happy Graduation, son!
This computer has all you need. Nicely size screen, plenty of storage, good battery life, it is fast. And don't worry about Macs being cluttered with a bunch of junk software like PCs that you have to spend hours cleaning it up first. Just boot, setup, and get to work or play. I would recommend any MacBook...but if you have to get this one don't feel bad about it. And, your Mac will last you for years.

I was debating if I should purchase a pc vs. the MacBook Pro and decided that the MacBook Pro was a better choice! I recently purchased the MacBook Pro to replace my 10 year old 13" MacBook and I don't regret my purchase at all... Wow, this Mac is amazing - so fast and so bright - I thoroughly love the retinal display. The colors are great and accurate. The speakers on the Mac is also amazing - love the sound and clarity. The processor is fast and editing pictures with Lightroom and Photoshop is amazingly fast! I decided on the MacBook because it is more reliable - my other Mac lasted me 10 years and I only brought it to the Genius Bar once... However, it was time to retire that 10 year old since it can longer update the iOS.
The only negative on the MacBook purchase was the price - it is expensive...

It seems like it's a great computer for experienced mac users. It was fast, quiet, long battery it didn't overheat. It was a little heavy but a good quality.
I would give it 4-5 but I only rated a 3 because of the fact that I myself just didn't know how to use it, I've only had pc's and this is very different! no left click was a huge frustration for me and also the fact it only has c ports. I bought the external on with usb, sd etc but it was an additional 90$ and It was very temperamental and didn't stay all the way connected, if you misplaced it then your sol with using a mouse or anything else like a usb or uploading photos. I had to keep using my pc bc It was just not easy to use or learn at all. I ended up returning for a refund for a pc laptop and the ipad pro

When my 2011 Macbook finally died I decided to pull the trigger and get the newest version. I'm SO glad I did. These are expensive computers but in my opinion, they're actually worth it. The speakers are absolutely incredible, somehow they manage to feel like surround sound. The screen is massive, bright, and clear and the computer itself is incredibly light and thin. I don't know much at all about the actual technology or specs so I can't really speak to that but if you're just looking for a laptop that you look forward to using every day and you don't mind paying for a premium product, you'll be very very happy with this purchase.

I wasn't planning on buying another MacBook, maybe ever, due to being salty about Apple taking away all of the ports and forcing people to purchase expensive adapters to use peripherals, which is still a major gripe but I was required to get one for engineering school. After a horrible failure attempting to use a 'cheap refurbished mac' on eBay I decided to take the plunge and go with the newest MacBook available at the time to hopefully avoid any further issues. Overall I am really happy with it. Does all it is supposed to do. The touchbar took time to get used to but I don't hate it. The only issue I had was, about 3-4 months in, the screen randomly stopped working. Of course this was during my final project which was not ideal by any means, but the process of getting it checked out by Apple during that time in the pandemic was actually quite easy and fast. I don't know what ended up being wrong with it but Apple Care covered the repair (new screen) so I assume they found a manufacturing issue. I got it back in about a week, and have not had any troubles with it since. I schedule it to restart every day, which I recommend as standard practice, and it runs really well so far. The large bright screen is great for coding, the speakers are really good overall, GarageBand is really fun and I've used it for a bit of music recording and look forward to being able to play around with it more when I finally have time. The feature set is really good and at this point the port limitations are a minor annoyance but not as big of a hindrance as I had expected. I just have a variety of docking solutions and it has worked for me so far. I do not prefer to type for long periods on the built in keyboard, but that may just be a personal preference, I have an older magic keyboard that I like to use instead. Probably worth it if you have a need for a high RAM machine with a large screen.

I love everything about this MacBook Pro 16". It was pricey but I but worth it. The price was reasonable when you consider what the add-on options were. I was going to piece together extras but the upgrades to a base model were more than having exactly what I wanted in a bundle. I am relatively new to all things Apple. I took the plunge 2 years ago into an ipad pro 12.9". That prepared me for this purchase. However, when I opened the MacBook with great excitement, I chose a computerized "Voice Over" robot teaching/tutorial mess. I would not advise that. It was like fighting a monster robot voice that spoke too quickly. It would not slow down! I called tech support at 11:00 pm EST and got another robo voice and I was in no mood for that. For one thing, the tech support voice wanted the serial number and that was so small on the box I could not make it out until morning and had to find a magnifier to read it. In the morning I was able to unlock the wonders of it without issue. My new MacBook Pro had frozen and I thought it was broken or defective. The freeze kept the capital key locked and I could not give any passwords for the Apple ID. Next morning I managed to turn the VoiceOver off and poof! The Voice Over was a waste of time. I suggest avoiding that. The computer opening screen appeared - I was stunned by the beauty of it. Smooth sailing now. It is fast, beautiful, intuitive. I am over 60 years old. Better late than never. I am an instuctor at a college and I get shortcuts from the students. Facetime saved me from Zoom issues. Facetime great on an ipad but even better on my MacBook Pro. It was was a life saver in finishing my semester and surviving Pandemic boardom and virtual one on one classes with students.
Ease of use excellent without the voice over path to setup - skip that. It was just dumb luck that got me out of that choice without help. It was a bad either/or choice on my part when I initially was confronted with 2 choices.

My 2011 15" MBP had served me well. So have the two 13" MBP's I have bought my kids for college. I was pretty set on another Apple. This new 16" MBP is a very noticeable upgrade. Love the keyboard change, bigger mouse, starting to like the Touch Bar, and absolutely love the display clarity and the speakers! Wow the sound! Watching movies, sports, or concerts is awesome! The screen is slightly bigger than my old MBP but computer feels smaller and is lighter. Software runs more than fast enough for me. Hoping to get a good 8+ years out of this MBP. Highly recommend.

I had a mid-2012 model MacBook Pro that was becoming slow and buggy, so I bought this new, improved model. It is much faster, and the sound quality is light years better than the older model. It works well for streaming videos, as well as word processing and other common tasks. At first, the touch bar seemed superfluous, but it is useful for some shortcuts. The main downside is the fact that the only ports are Thunderbolt (USB-C), so separately purchased adapters are needed to attach traditional USB devices, such as a thumb drive, and ethernet cables.

I bought this for my wife as she does a lot of video editing. This thing is lightning fast, runs smooth as butter, and renders videos super fast. The only detriment is that it only has USB-C/Thunderbolt connectors, so you will have to get a device that will convert if you have any USB Type-A peripherals. Like any Apple product it is overpriced for the hardware you get, so keep in mind that you will be paying extra for the privilege of owning a product that says Apple.

Apple's first foray in 16inch screen. Love my MACBOOK Pro. Love the touch-bar. The resolution on the screen is top class. Great for watching movies or business use. When i charge it 100% battery lasts all day with hd video on throughout the day. The battery will not go over a day if you are using the video all day. 5 months now and machine is working as expected. Apple rarely disappoints when it comes to their devices and this is no exception. Highly recommend if you are looking for 16 inch screen.
