    Never buying a PC again

I have owned several laptops and desktops over my lifetime. Some have been good, others ok, and one Dell in particular, has been abominable. For the most part, laptops nowadays are cheap and affordable and come with a host of different cool features. But it wasn't until I made the investment of going with the MBP (MacBook Pro) that I've fallen in love with computers again. Let me say it again: it's an investment. Macs aren't cheap. It will hurt your wallet for a little while. But once you get it out of the box and go through the setup procedure, you'll be a happy consumer, and YOU'LL NEVER WANT TO TOUCH A PC AGAIN. EVER. Forget about the "I don't know how to use a Mac" excuse. There is a little bit of a learning curve if you've never touched one before, but it really isn't that bad. Replace 'Ctrl' with 'Command'; replace Alt with Option etc. Very easy and very user friendly. Trust me: once you start using this computer, and realize its potential, you will never want to go near another PC again. Have I said that already? PROS: slim and small; lightweight; FAST; capable (I run Photoshop CS3, Aperture, iTunes and the web at the same time without a hiccup); beautiful display w/backlit keypad; Apple's touch pad technology; multiple line in ports; fast boot up and shut down; fully customizable desktop (Expose & Spaces are amazing); 2gb ram expandable to 4gb (for about $100 - 3rd party) CONS: expensive (but soooo worth it); battery not the best although it is respectable; tends to run hot on system heavy applications (like gaming...I play WoW which runs perfectly but gives me a hot base and 1hr battery life); Apple's accessories are pricey as well BOTTOM LINE: If you want a reliable machine, that is capable of multi-tasking without causing a headache; if you are into anything creative with photo/video/music; if you want a machine that is so capable that you don't have to question whether or not your system has the resources, because it does, make this investment. You will not regret it. I use mine primarily for photo editing and music creation/editing. It works like a charm. I also game online. It works fine. Don't get suckered into buying another Dell, HP, Sony, Acer etc. Make your next purchase a MBP. And no, I don't work for Apple. lol!

    Mac vs PC

I have been a loyal Mac user for over 15 years... my first one didn't even support an operating system. You had to insert a disk to boot the thing, but it was such a good computer... lately i've been thinking more and more about the advantages of a mac vs. pc. I use a pc at work, being adult and having responsiblities gets me a free hp laptop. so i split my time between my intel powered pc and mac... here are my thoughts... while the mac is a very stable computer, no blue screen of death and no random frustrating errors, it does have limited software support and selection. unless you run a window operating environment, you are stuck with what's out there for the mac... and you can just goto a stor and expect to find softwares off the shelf... you have to locate a mac store for that... and there are so far and few of those... and i use to think that mac was pretty good at making their OS work with older softwares but not since the new line of "animals" my fifth generation iPod does not work with my old power book, my first generation iPod has armed conflicts with my new intel powered pro... however, after dealing with my pc for over a year now... i wish my office would flip the bills for all the mac products i buy... so go and buy yourself a mac... you will thank me...

    Switched and never looking back!

I was skeptical of switching to a Mac computer because I have always had a Windows machine. I needed a laptop for college, so I naturally looked at Windows machines especially a certain Japanese company that makes game stations ; ). But I found out that Apple offered an educational discount and the other company did not. Also the school I went to has a large Mac background. So I took the risk and switched over and have never been happier. I used to always have internet connection and printer problems, but not with this computer. All I have to do is connect to either one and it is instantly connected. No drivers, no configurations, no hours of frustrating tech pain. The operating system is very easy to use, so there is no learning curve. Also I loaded Windows on using the Boot Camp software, so I can use both operating systems and use all of my old Windows software. The Macbook Pro is well built and looks great. I highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a new computer and is open minded about trying something new.

I have been a PC user since the early 90's. (still am at my work). My only regret is not having bought a Mac before. This is what computing is all about. From the moment you unpack the MBP, to the initial run and the daily use, I have been nothing but impressed with design and function. Starting up - a flash - less than 20 seconds, shut down even faster. The build in software is amazing - I never had as much fun with my digital pictures or with my music before. Front Row is your very own home theater system on our MPB. I do a lot of Power Point presentations, which now are all done in Keynote (part of iWork 08). Can't really say enough good things. It was/is fairly easy for me to make the switch from PC to MAC, but it does take a learning curve, especially for brand new users. However, there is a ton of great website which deal with the novice Mac user, and after a couple of hours you are off and running.

Apple has done it once again!

I have been a PC person ever since it was affordable to own; I have built my own systems. Macs to me never really grabbed my attention - I thought it was more geared towards aesthetics than functionality and even processing power. Buying a MacBook Pro was a big deal and a risk for me - an unfamiliar territory. However, I always knew that the graphics, video, art, and music industry goes to the Mac for power and functionality. I didn’t really experience this until I worked for an architectural rendering design firm. My boss used a Mac, I kept my PC - it was hard to keep up with him! Graphic editing/video rendering are most seamless in Macs. The Intel chips are really what saved the Mac and proves to be one of the most powerful notebook I have used to render graphics, music composition and sync (for my band), and a "practically" virus-free environment.

honestly i hate the the average consumer is buying macs because they are computers for artists but whatever... macs are just very efficient machines, very slim because of an all metal construction, no other laptop company can say that. which also makes the computer much more durable, and when typeing in a dark place the keyboard auto illuminates very efficeient very simple GUI, very user friendly. many, many automated functions can be set. there is only one con, good luck if you want to swap out the HDD your self, it is like 20+ screws and you have to remove the entire bottom plate. apple has the best product repair service i have ever seen. PERIOD day 1: i called Day2: i revieved a box from DHL day3: shipped it day 4: apple received, fixed and shipped back day 5: i had my mac this all considering it shipped to texas and i live in miami ENJOY!

Overall I am very happy with my Mac Book Pro. I've been able to burn CD's easier than before on my PC. It runs very well. It has frozen a couple times but it wasn't a big deal and that would happen with any computer. Tech support has been very helpful when I needed questions answered. If you are in to art and design this is a great computer to have but on top of that it still works great preforming other tasks such as writing essays, browsing the internet, and creating charts. It has a lot of fun pre-installed applications to play with and a ton of fun downloads from apple.com. After installing Mac Office I was able to quickly create a power point presentation and present it in front of my Profesor and class for a more visually stunning presentation. If you have been wanting a Mac just get one already!!

I bought a macbook pro last june for college. This was my first adventure into non-pc computing which was eagerly anticipated and very overdue. I have not been disappointed. Sure it's a premium price, but it is worth every penny. Never worry about viruses, unexplained error messages, multi-tasking capabilities, or any frustration whatsoever. The bottom gets a little warm on your lap after a while, but nothing uncomfortable, and I actually appreciate it come winter time. Anyone who doesn't like macs either has not used one, is closed-minded, or only uses a computer for very basic business needs. I have never been so excited every time I use a laptop. Buy this right now and save yourself a migraine or two.

I had been a PC only type of guy for years, but after a bad experience with a PC notebook, and my brother in law going to work for Apple, I decided to try out the MacBook Pro. All I can say is wow. The OS is stable as can be, it has plenty of computing power for video and photo editing. It is sleek and fast. The software is very user friendly and my transition to Mac has been relatively painless. I now have a laptop I can depend on, and I couldn't be happier. All my questions I have had have been answered by their customer service team quickly and politely. I highly recommend to anyone who is fed up with their PC to make the jump, and get a Mac. You will be pleasantly surprised and happy. I know I am.

The biggest gripe people have against Macs is the price tag. To this I say the old adage is true: You get what you pay for. If you actually compare the features, the extras, the stability, ease-of-use, brightness of screen/color management, pure elegance, quality of available software, and the longevity, you simply cannot beat the MacBook Pro. You won't be stuck with a need to buy tons of add-ons and spyware & virus protection. You'll just have a powerful, Lexus of a computer. WARNING: your ability to listen politely to the gripes and groans of those trying to banish yet another virus from their Kia will lessen over time. I am 1000% satisfied.

The Macbook Pro builds upon the success of the PowerBook using the familiar, but getting old, aluminum body. It has a decently fast graphics card, bright screen, a useful remote control, backlit keyboard. I was a little disappointed with the Wifi reception as compare to my plastic body Macbook. The Pro's range is about 15% less than the Macbook. Also, there is no easy way to get access to the harddrive if you would like to change it out. Overall, this is still one of the best laptops out there even if it is a little high in price. However, in exchange, you get a solid OS X computer with lots of nice features.

I have a Mac desktop and this MacBook Pro - I will NEVER purchase a PC again. I've never had a virus with a Mac, never had it log down with "stuff" picked up from the internet. I use cable internet and this computer is fast loading web pages. I bought Parallels with my computer thinking I'd want to run PC programs, but I never have reason to use it. I have Microsoft Office, but NeoOffice which is a free download is a great alternative if you can't afford software. Macs last fovever - I used my last iMac for 8 years before buying a new one.

I love the apple programs and the fact that you dont get any virus. this computer is easy to use and a joy on the internet, but i have had problems pertaining to the hardware, it breaks down and is very expensive to fix, once out of warranty. I have purchased two already and the second one just went totally blank and dead on me. it was again very expensive to get it fixed at apple. As far as a laptop, i am thinking of going back to a pc, eventhough, i love the way they operate, when not in the shop.

Best Computer I've Ever Worked With, Hands Down!

The Macbook Pro has been, by far, the most solid and fundamentally perfect computer that I have ever seen. Everything from Apple's newest firmware (Leopard) to the hardware is nothing short of outstanding. I have yet to see any problems with either. The only flaw with the Macbook Pro is it's price, however, it's understandable due to "all of the above". -In a nutshell, "The best computer I have ever worked with but it comes with a price." I proudly write this review on my own Macbook Pro.

I used my brother's Mac desktop for a few months and liked it so much I decided to get my own Mac. I prefer laptops, so I bought the Macbook Pro w/15.4 screen. For graphics, music, and video, Mac is the only way to go. This macbook pro is sleek, lightweight, and loaded with features. I love the lighted keyboard. The computer is ready to go right out of the box. It is well worth the price. I can't wait to build up my software repertoire on my Macbook Pro.

One Of The Best Laptops Ever

    Posted
    pookster

This laptop is really fast. I used to hate waiting for my old laptop just to start running and it would take forever to download things as well. You can open multiple pages at the same time. No more waiting like that with this Mac Pro. It is perfect for school projects, entertainment, and email. The only thing I would change is that I would have invested a little more money for the next step up model (it has more memory and runs a little bit faster).

I have always been a apple fan, but this one is the best computer i have ever seen. If you want a PC, you can still get a few programs out there that allows you to have the same capabilities. The power goes fast without the charger, but everyone uses that so, it's not much of letdown. Overall, this is a great computer and i recommend it to those who are in the market for a laptop!

if you have a lot of windows programs or games, just get boot camp and play them on the windows side. I have never experienced such a great computer! it runs very fast and I have never had a problem with it being to slow. the best part has to be how I can just connect my digital camera and it uploads the pictures straight into iPhoto, no need to deal with photo software!

My wife, who also has a the 13" Mac, is in the Army and we use the built-in web cam to chat. Just buy the Mac it's easy to use, fast, looks great and is free from internet viruses!
