calm, cool, collected
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This Mac has authority in its class. It manages the responsibilities of my work, fun, and household management like a well-poised business partner who likes to rock and roll. The keyboard is well backlit, with position nubs on the f and j - encouraging detail -, matte and smooth feel, and finger loving depth gauge. The mouse is just right in sensitivity and easy to click. The apps and communication speed are efficient. The screen is bright enough to clearly review content without tiring my eyes as quickly as my other brand laptop was. The 15" screen is befitting of my use. I appreciate the magnetic feature of the power cord. The body and screen are easy to clean. I will never go back or venture towards another brand, as long as Mac continues to mindfully produce technology which brings the art and science of simplified optimization to my fantastically liberated work potential. This Macbook has exceeded my expectations. Simple and safe, it connected to my wifi and printer without complications, populated my cloud documents quickly, and empowered my navigations with clear direction. Im please with my investment.

Excellent display
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First Apple computer since the old MacIntosh LC. Takes some getting used to with the transition from a PC, but overall better for photos, videos, etc. compared to a PC. Much nicer display/graphics.

Great laptop but takes 3 weeks to get used to...
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been a big fan of Dell laptops for years. However, over the last few years I felt that their tech support was terrible so when it came time to replace my Dell Precision laptop, I decided to go for a MacBook Pro 15" laptop. Overall, the laptop is fast and has a beautiful display. I have two reasons that I didn't give this product 5 stars. The first is that the transitional learning curve from a PC was very painful. It took me about 3 weeks to figure out how to do all the little tasks that I had grown accustomed to doing in the Windows environment. My second complaint is software...I have to buy new software for everything on the Mac. This gets rather expensive with Adobe products and the Microsoft Office Suite. In summary, if you can live through the learning curve and afford to buy your Mac OS programs, then you won't be disappointed with this laptop. I would recommend it to my friends and co-workers.

Glad I invested!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was a little hesitant purchasing the 15inch when we are used to the 13inch, but I needed the power. Even though it is the lower end of the 15inch's, it's awesome. Glad I invested in it.

Solidly built, except a few Ubuntu glitches
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.tl;dr: Great for using Yosemite, great physical hardware! Some bugs using Ubuntu and potentially other linux systems on the same firmware as Yosemite. Long Version: Using Yosemite on the machine seems to be mainly trouble free, although I don't use that operating system often enough to really have great feedback. The retina display is great, and the OS seems sleek as always. The physical machine is always great construction. I used to be a PC person until my first MAC when I realized how much more physically solid they are. I run this in dual boot with Ubuntu, and most of my time is spent using Ubuntu instead of Yosemite. It runs fairly well, but sometimes the network connection drops, then when you attempt to reconnect it crashes the system. I use both Thunderbolt ports to connect external monitors, and sometimes these take a minute to come back after opening the lid. Sometimes after they come back the main monitor display is blacked out for a minute or two and you just have to wait for it to recover. The above might all be because of an issue where on MAC hardware (for some reason) some of the firmware upgrades for Yosemite cause kworker threads to go crazy. The solution is to disable some devices, but I suspect the devices that glitch on me are the ones I've disabled to resolve the kworker issue. Here's more detail on the issue if you're curious: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1403653
