I have a macbook air and pro but I have had a problem when I open a large number of tabs in safari or chrome that the performance suffers I have a memory app that displays how much free ram I have and when it dips to around 150 megs or less, performance suffers, Macs use "virtual memory" when free ram is low, which involves swapping stuff from memory to the hard drive (SSD in this case) to free up ram, but this workaround can be painfully slow because a hard drive or SSD is much slower than ram.
So I decided to buy the new macbookj pro with 8 gigs of ram. I was also interested in various improvements in this model-- better feedback keyboard, touch bar, touch id, faster processor, and better display.
The 8 gigs of ram completely solved the browser performance issue. I have a ton of tabs open and always have at least 500 megs of ram free and usually more. I also enjoy the crisper display and tactile feedback from the keyboard, The touch bar is nice, but I wouldn't call it a game changer; the function keys were fine,. The touch sensor is great-- no more typing passwords to access the laptop. Just push your finger on the touch sensor (as you do with iphone and ipad).
One minor issue is that the MBP only supports usb c, I have a logitech mouse (USB B) and SD card, neither of which works directly with the laptop. The solution for me was to buy a usb c hub, which plugs into 2 of the usb c ports and provides 2 usb c ports, 2 usb B ports, and 1 SD slot. It works flawlessly but it does protrude from the side of the laptiop, a minor annoyance. For example, when I travel, I pull the hub out of the slot so it doesn't get damaged in transit. But if you're primarily working with it on a desk, it's not a big deal. The hub iI bought is from qacqoc and was $70-- pricey but works great. http://www.qacqoc.com/
Another change is that usb c supports charging the battery so there is no separate charging port. You use one of the usb c ports with the usb c charger that ships with the laptop.
I have read some reviewers complain about the battery performance. It has not been an issue for me and is very similar to the performance on my existing MBA and MBP.
Overall, I love the new macbbook pro. I strongly recommend the 8 gig model. You can never have enough ram.

Purchasing a new MacBook Pro was a must since I began to do more video production and photo enhancing. Using most of the Adobe CC suite, which allows for a great deal of creativity. With having such great programs at my fingertips I needed a machine that would perform up the speed and specifications. This MacBook Pro meets and exceeds all expectations. Blown away and its only been a few weeks, looking forward to taking on more creative projects now.

I love this mac book pro, the touch bar is awesome, and the speaker sound is great! What I don't like though is that it doesn't come with USB ports that has to be bought separately

Purchased new Macbook Pro in Space Gray, 256gb SSD with Touchbar. Fantastic battery life, amazing trackpad. Can unlock Macbook Pro with Apple Watch, actually a really great feature. Needed the best device I could buy to hold for next 4-5 years and to use in a doctoral program - I think I chose well.

We purchased an Apple MacBook Pro on 12/07/2016. We always had a lot of care with the machine. The machine never fell down or never had any impact. Suddenly the machine is not working anymore and we will have to go through diagnostic and repair. I don't have the feeling the apple product are robust anymore.
Note that Best Buy has done nothing wrong here. Just commenting the robustness of the Machine.

I was kinda skeptical when Apple first released the TouchBar model. It seemed cool but kinda gimmicky. Didn't see much practical use for it. Kinda like 3D touch on the iPhone 6s. It was really cool but I didn't see much of a need for it. Well just like I was wrong with 3D touch, I was wrong with the TouchBar. It is very beneficial allows you to work a lot more efficiently. I find myself constantly trying to look for and reach for it on my work computer(MacBook Air). The computer is very fast, very lightweight and very portable yet still has enough power to do some coding and photo and video editing. Plus the screen is amazing I hate using my work computer now just because it looks really fuzzy to me. The keyboard does take some time getting use to but i'm already used to it and i type pretty quickly and a lot. I would highly highly recommend this computer to anyone. Its definitely worth the money to jump up to the TouchBar model.

I upgraded from a mid 2010 MacBook Pro (which I traded in for a Best Buy gift card through Best Buy's MacBook upgrade program), and couldn't be happier. I'll admit that I thought the Touch Bar was a little gimmicky at first, but quickly grew to love it... especially the Touch ID sensor (which is very responsive)! No more putting in my password every two seconds. The screen is amazingly clear, the keyboard feels fantastic, and the speakers sound phenomenal! The overall design is the best Apple MacBook Pro thus far, weighting in a 3 lbs. Unlike many commenters on external Apple dedicated sites, the size is an important issue. I am a adult student, therefor I carry around my laptop most days. I am not connecting my laptop to external monitors where it sits mainly on a desk. Which brings me to dongles... This doesn't bother me. You're either connecting to the computer or dongle... either way most "pro users" complaining are still going have wires. USB C is the future and there's already some great products on the market sold at Best Buy. I don't use a mouse (although I do have a Magic Mouse that I use on my iMac 27''), the new Force Touch track pad with is large and feels great to use. Overall I would give this computer and A-. Only giving a minus for the price... which is steep.

I have been holding off buying a MacBook Pro because I knew Apple was oming out with a refresh. After watching the keynote, I was intrigued and have to admit that I was chomping at the bit to get my hands on it. I opted for the Touch Bar model because I thought this would future proof me. Also the processor and RAM speed is faster than the one without a Touch Bar. First impressions is that the laptop is smaller and lighter than previous MBP. The keyboard does respond better than the first gen butterfly keys. But I still like the older keys better. Performance wise, there's nothing I can complain about, I even don't mind the large trackpad. The palm rejection is great and cursor does not move when I'm typing. The sound performance on this MBP is better than the MacBook. It's just as loud, but I do notice there's a little more bass on this new MBP. I do like that suggested words appear on the Touch Bar when typing. I have to admit that I do not use the suggested words that appear though. It's faster for me to type than to look up at the Touch Bar and select the 3 suggested words. If I was in the middle of intense typing, I would hate to have to break my rhythm by looking away from my screen. The Touch ID is a nice touch, but if you have a short password or autofill, that would be faster than using the Touch ID. There is a slight delay when using the Touch ID.
There are a few things that bother me about the Touch Bar version is the Touch Bar itself. I don't find that it makes things easier or increases my productivity. Maybe in time when developers improve on it. I actually find that it's more inconvenient. If I'm playing music, I have to touch the volume keys which will expand the slider so I can slide the volume up and down. Same thing with brightness. This is going backwards in my book. I'd rather just press on the Function keys. There's also no dedicated esc key like before. This is big deal breaker in my mind. I actually returned it and bought the one without the touch bar and saved myself $400. Apple really needs to get off of their high horse and start being more competitive with other PC's or else they are going to start losing a lot of their loyalists.

I've owned the MacBook Pro 13" Retina Display (Early 2015) with 256GB.
Now, I use my MacBook Pro for all purposes. School work, internet browsing, email and gaming. Play games on my MacBook is somewhat important to me which played a factor in me purchasing the Touchbar because of the upgraded integrated graphic.
Bear in mind that I do not play hardcore FPS. I enjoy playing Simcity 4 Deluxe and Left 4 Dead as well as Civilization 5 (V) all of these runs beautifully. for those who like eye candy, civilization 5 can run almost maxed out on this with 36+ fps.
The touch bar is amazing and fluid. I just wish it was retina display on it. The keyboard is interesting and feels great. This MacBook is too powerful to be this thin. It's unbelievable.
cons:
Overpriced
Non-retina Touchbar (not a biggie)
Apple logo doesn't light up
USB-C (not a con but not a pro)
Pro:
Fast
Lightweight
thin
Portable
Powerful
Elegant

I'm a graduate student who loves photography and video editing besides being in health care. This laptop perfectly meets my needs and I love photo/video editing with touch bar in this product. You won't believe it but it saves you lots of clicks! Believe me!! Yes, it's definitely worth spending $300 for touchbar to my opinion, regardless what critics say. Otherthan that, I loved aesthetically designed overall finish of this MacBook Pro. Great battery life, quick start, fingerprint scanner works great, speedy file transfers or copying, fast charge, and stunning screen resolutions with Retina display! Ohh..I must admit the best keyboard and mousepad I ever experienced in any laptop!! Just precise and perfect. Loved backlit keys. Light weight, and easy to carry around. You will just have to get additional accessories like usb type c to usb 3.0 converter, SD/SDHC card reader hook ups. Pretty much all sort of port hook ups as many products not yet support usb type C that comes built in with this. You must order laptop case, cover and palm skin etc. to protect it from scratches. You can buy these additions online. BTW, I had the best browsing experience on this laptop compared to any other out there in market. Trust me! I tried all premium line laptops out there, including rivals and Apple's own products. Nothing beats MacBook Pro line. I also loved their calendar, notes, iMovies, and Photos apps. I think I covered it most anyone might be interested to know. Hope this review would be helpful.

I absolutely love this computer. I had an older MacBook Pro before I got this one and I didn't use it as much as I use this one. It really is just a lot of fun to use. The size is perfect and it is very light. I'm still getting used to the Touch Bar. It's really cool but I often forget it is there. The keyboard and mousepad are much nicer than the older models as well. Very light and easy to use. The only downsides to this product are the small hard drive, it doesn't come with the extender on the charger like older models did, and you have to get an adapter to use USB devices since it only has four USB-C ports. It works for what I need it for though and you can always get additional external storage and the adapters are pretty inexpensive.

I've always had MacBooks, and they never disappoint. This new model was no exception. Battery life is on par with what I expect, and I enjoy the portability of the laptop.
My favorite new feature has to be Touch ID. I never thought about it before but being able to unlock my computer with a simple touch like that is such a timesaver and a great benefit. The touch-bar is cool, but at this point is more of a novelty. I mainly got this model for the upgraded processor and GPU rather than the touch-bar.

The new MacBook Pro by Apple, has been one of the most amazing computers I have owned. It's responsiveness & design by far surpasses any past computer I've owned. The ease of use is amazing and the new Touch Bar is a great feature to have. The speaker system sounds the same or better then my iPad Pro in my opinion. Overall, I haven't had any issues with this computer. Regular use of this computer consists of writing Word documents, Excel spreadsheets, & PowerPoint presentations, as well as the occasional online shopping and browsing, and it's been able to fufill and surpass any initial expectations of this computer. The computer is slim & very portable and I'm able to take it anywhere I choose to without even noticing it. It's great for working on documents on the go, the only hassle however is having to carry a series of ever-growing dongles but I don't mind it a whole lot. Overall, I highly highly HIGHLY recommend this computer.

I downsized from a 15" last generation MB Pro to a new 13" and I'm loving every minute of it. It's small, light, stylish, and I don't miss the very slight decline in performance/memory from the 15". I took the "savings" between a new 15" and 13" and put the money into a 27" monitor, keyboard, and external HD. Setup and migration of data from my old machine was easy.
Yes, you'll need to invest in a few new dongles to hook up all your stuff (Apple it would really nice if your new iPhone 7s came with the new USB) but I do like the performance, fit and finish of the new USBs.
I don't really use the smart bar so I can't really comment on that. Other than scrolling through photos in a new way I can't really tell if it's an improvement. Maybe I just don't use Apps that benefit from it.
