Not much different from the original Magic Mouse. Better tracking. Difficult to charge because of the position of the charge port. Still great Apple quality.

Full disclosure: the first gen magic mouse has always been my favorite mouse. As a non-gamer, the magic mouse meets my every need with its incredible versatility and sleek look and feel. The new magic mouse 2 is anot improvement with a rechargeable battery. Unfortunately, the charge port is on the underbelly, making it unusable during charging.

My original Magic Mouse died on me after many years of dutiful service, so I decided to upgrade. On the upgraded version, it comes with a built-in rechargeable battery, rather than requiring 2 AAs to work. The only drawback is the charging port is on the bottom of the mouse, so you cannot use it while it is being charged. But, I'll gladly give that up to not have to keep replacing batteries.

Battery lasts forever, except I don't like the placement of the charging port. I love the sleek design. A little thinner than other mouses but once you get used to it, it fits right into your palm. I would recommend if you have the room to splurge. If not, I don't think it's any more amazing than a $20 mouse.

I really don't understand those who are upset about the bottom charging port and not being able to charge while using. The battery seems to last for months, just charge when you're not using it. I use my iPhone charger, full charge takes less than 2 hours. Very nice, smooth hand friendly design, love the side swipe function, Seems well made. Note to Apple: needs a small bag or something to store it in when not in use.

This thing is such a giant waste of money. I literally never use it. It's just super slow. The charger port being on the bottom is pretty poor design but it doesn't really bother me as much as how the mouse actually functions. Not worth it

A lot of people dislike this mouse because the charge port is on the bottom, which renders the device useless when charging. I, however, do not mind because I've a laptop and not a desktop. The charge holds for considerable time as well. I've only charged it once and that was over a month ago. Great for laptop users, not so much for those with a desktop.

This is a great mouse. Connectivity is much better than the first-gen Magic Mouse, and the rechargeable battery is a nice upgrade. The only issue: the charging port is on the underside of the mouse, so if it dies on you, you can't just swap out some batteries and keep working. You'll have to plug it in and leave it alone for at least a little while. Otherwise, this is a great product with classic Apple quality.

I have purchased several different wireless mouses over the years. This is by far my favorite. It is very easy to connect, works well with my Mac, has excellent touch features, and the battery last a while. Only minor gripe is the charging port is in on the bottom which seems an odd choice. Not a major deal though.

I bought this to supplement my magic keyboard and magic trackpad. Usually my workflow is more efficient with a mouse instead of a trackpad, and the magic mouse is the perfect compliment for my MacBook Pro. The scrolling actually works all the way down from top to bottom of the surface, which is nice. The only downfall is that the lightning port to charge is on the bottom of the mouse-- this is a widely known design flaw for Apple, so I am not deducting a star for this. Do your research folks! This isn't a huge deal to me because I also have other means of using my computer, and I typically don't forget to plug it in every couple weeks when I am done working.

These latest iterations of the Apple Mouse and Keyboard are great upgrades. I like that they opted to use rechargeable batteries, via a lightning port; however, I will say, like other posters have also suggested, the location of the charging port could have been better thought out. It's on the bottom, so the mouse is useless while it's charging. But, it's a small inconvenience, and nothing a little forethought doesn't fix. I like that gestures are supported on this mouse, so I can scroll from app to app with a swipe of my finger. All in all, it's a great product, and if it weren't for the charging port location, I would have given the mouse a perfect 5-star rating.

    Not worth it

I recently purchased a new MacBook Pro, and I love it. The only problem is that the new machine only has USB Type-C ports and no standard USB ports, which isn't a major issue for me. The only problem is that my old wireless mouse connects via the standard USB port. I decided to purchase the Apple Magic 2 mouse to utilize bluetooth technology instead of having to use a USB adapter for my old mouse. However the charging cable for this mouse connects only to a standard USB which my new MacBook doesn't even have, so the adapter is still necessary to charge the mouse. If Apple only want to have USB type-C ports on their new machines they should make sure their own products actually connect instead of having to buy a pricey adapter to make it work!

    Hard to control

While I like the functions, it sometimes has a mind of its own. It will begin to slide left or right when I don't want it to, which prevents me from clicking on certain items. The standard mouse movement is very slow. I had to internally adjust up the speed to be adequate. Although you don't have to re-charge the mouse very often, the charge port is on the bottom of the mouse, so it makes it impossible to use while its being charged. As with the keyboard, its very flat, and much harder to control than a standard mouse.

Apple is famous for having good quality products and this is a good mouse considering the Bluetooth limitations. The gesture functionalities are really amazing and very similar to what we can get with the Magic Pad (track pad). The only thing I didn't like much is that the charging port is located under the mouse, which means that if you run out of battery you can't use the mouse while it charges. Bad design in this sense. Otherwise it's a really good product, I really like it. Don't try using a Windows Mouse in Mac because it's so limited that I don't think it worth the tentative.

I wasn't sure about the mouse before I got. It looked a little weird, it was small and the charging port was on the bottom. First off, the charger on the bottom is not an issue. The mouse charges so fast I never run into any issues. It feels good in my hand. Plus, it integrates well with my MacBook and has a few extra features to make using it even better.

I bought this to replace my previous Magic Mouse which was having issues and so far I have been very pleased. I read the reviews and comments and still decided to go for it. I love the fact that it is rechargeable as I was real tired of going through batteries and did not want to hassle with rechargeable ones. So Apple made a design choice in the location of the Lightening port that doesn't make sense. Learn to live with it and get on with it. Plan ahead and it is no big deal.

Magic Mouse 2 represents a significant upgrade from its predecessor. The best way to describe the magic mouse 2 is that it's like using a traditional mouse combined with a trackpad thanks to its touch sensitive surface - this creates the opportunity for very useful navigation gestures. The mouse is responsive and performs well. One MAJOR misstep - and a very surprising one given Apple's obsession with design and simplicity - is the absurd placement of the lighting port used for charging - it's located literally smack-dab on the bottom surface of the mouse. In other words, you cannot charge and use the mouse simultaneously. Is this a deal-breaker? No, not at all....but it's a bit perplexing and ultimately downgrades an otherwise nearly perfect device.

Incredible Battery Life and Quick for Wireless!

As I'm sure many of you have read, Apple's biggest design flaw with the Magic Mouse seems to be that the charging port is on the bottom of the mouse, meaning that when you are charging the mouse, you cannot simultaneously use it. I thought that would be a big enough drawback for me to return the mouse, but after using it comfortably for several months, I greatly believe that the battery life and the responsiveness to movements and clicks with the Magic Mouse, albeit being a wireless mouse, greatly outweigh the charging issue! I make sure to have the mouse turned "off" when not in use, and I honestly cannot remember the last time I have had to charge it (other than the 1st day buying and using it)! I was skeptical about Apple's description that "A full charge takes about two hours and lasts two months. Two minutes of juice is enough for a full day as well", but I can happily say that I'm now a believer. I have not had any issues regarding the mouse thus far and believe that they have corrected other issues that have been brought up by Magic Mouse gen.1 users. I'm very satisfied with my purchase, and I would highly recommend for other wireless mouse users who love pairing Apple products together too!

I don't need to replace the batteries anymore. The new mouse has a internal rechargeable battery that lasts at least a couple of days. Got the keyboard too. Now I don't have to worry about batteries leaking. Charges fast. Only problem is the charging port on the mouse is on the bottom. You have to put it on the side to recharge.

I genuinely feel that this Apple mouse is the best in the business. It can be set up with an amazing number of gestures and is like having a mouse, trackball, and trackpad all in one. The best improvement is RECHARGEABLE batteries! The older Magic Mouse took Double-A batteries and I had to buy them in bulk because it was such a battery hog. This mouse plugs in with the same lightning cable (included with mouse) that charges pretty much every Apple mobile device. The only downside is that the port for charging is on the bottom of the mouse, meaning it has to lay there, completely useless like a turtle on its back, while charging. Fortunately, it goes for weeks on a single charge, and it takes very little time to charge it to a usable level, and you can always top it off later.
