This is a Xmas gift for my husband. We haven't opened the box yet, but I have the exact same ipad I bought myself last year. This is the 5th ipad in our collection. We also have a 3 year old ipad air, a 6 year old ipad mini, and a two year old ipad. They all have updated easily except the iPad air which is one of the reasons I bought another ipad. The air must be hooked up to a computer to update. I suspect that is because my husband refused to update as suggested. This new iPad is much faster than the air 1 and the 2 year old Ipad. The screen is larger with improved display over all the other models we own . It has plenty of space at 64 gbs. We use them to play games, read books, shop, bill pay and surf the Internet. I know my husband will be pleased with this new iPad. He has used his air 1 ipad daily and I'm sure this one will be used regularly too. The grandchildren will be very happy to see papaw get a new iPad because after a good protective case is put on the old ipad they will be able to use it to surf and play games with the iPad air 1. They range in age 4-14 and easily learned how to use the iPad's. Yes they have dropped them, but with a good protector they are quite durable. Even the older models are fast enough to satisfy impatient children, due to upgrades they are able to keep up with changing technology, and best of all the ios operating system is resistant to worms, Trojans and viruses. After losing several computers to viruses, worms and a Trojan (7 weeks after purchasing a $900 HP laptop ) I no longer worry about sites the children or myself go to. I don'tuse any extra security software although this new iPad comes with free security for a limited time. I probably won't use it but it's nice to get free stuff. A pen or cover would have been more useful. Yes Apple products are more expensive than android's but not having to replace them due to Mal ware and changing technology helps them to pay for themselves in the long run (or short run in the case of my HP).

I mean among my friends and family, they use Spotify more than Apple Music. I still use Apple Music more, however, because it already works with what I have. I own a lot of music that is not available from cloud services, so for me iTunes and Apple Music makes more sense. It gives me more flexibility to organize my stuff and stuff from the service. In terms of features, it has searching for genres, artists, albums etc. It has recommendations based on my trends and other people's trends. I can see created playlists, listen to them or share them with my friends. I can have music in playlists from more than one source such as my computer, someone else's device (up to 5) and Apple Music. In many ways it works a lot like Spotify. Of course, it works much better with Siri, HomePod, Apple TV or just any Apple device. Since my house has mostly apple products, it makes sense to use Apple Music instead of Spotify. The only thing is there is no free Apple Music service. I got 3 months for free and from there there is a 9.99 fee for a single user or 14.99 for family accounts (shared with a few people in my house). I guess that's the price for easy music access (and music videos).

    Loving my Apple Watch

I had a Fitbit Surge and after 3 years it was time to let it go. The battery wasn't staying charged and it was outdated. I've been wanting an Apple Watch but didn't want to spend the money if my other watch still worked, so I was kind of excited when my Fitbit stopped working properly. This thing is the perfect size. It's not bulky like my old watch...I can barely tell I have it on! I probably won't use it for all of its features, but I definitely appreciate the messaging capabilities and that my phone alarms sync with it. The battery life is great so far. I only use about 1/4 of the battery each day. My one complaint wouldn't be about the watch itself, but the purchasing experience. It's not a huge deal to me, which is why I still gave 5 stars, but it might be a deal to someone who's in a hurry to get this bad boy. Best Buy had it advertised that if I "buy this item within the next 3 hours and get it by tomorrow!" and about an hour after I purchased it said it wouldn't get to me for a few days. I don't think that's very honest of Best Buy...but the price couldn't be beat so I'm still happy!

Overall, I enjoy Apple Music. Since it has the entire iTunes library at its disposal there are nearly endless possibilities to meet the needs of nearly everyone's musical tastes. My major complaints stem from the Radio function of Apple Music. Instead of being an endless stream of music based upon your likes and dislikes, it creates playlists based upon music you have put on your library playlists, downloaded to your device(s), and/or marked as "Love" or "Dislike". I cannot seem to figure out how to keep it from playing artists I cannot stand (such as Taylor Swift). Despite me marking all of her songs as "Dislike" it will continue to add her music (as well as others songs/artists that I have marked as dislike) to my Radio playlists. Additionally, these playlists only refresh periodically (it seems to be about once a week). I would prefer that it function similar to Pandora, but it just does not. Also, it seems to do a much poorer job of noticing what songs you consistently skip, and adjust accordingly. Pandora seems to have a much better capability to predict what you'll like. Overall, I do like Apple music for its seamless integration with all of my Apple products, and affordability. I just wish I didn't have to spend so much time curating playlists and pressing the skip button.

In the Apple ecosystem? This is the best streaming

There are many streaming services out there but if you are deep into the Apple ecosystem- Mac, iPad, iPhone, Apple Watch, etc- I think this is the better service to go with. Personally, I like it the best though beyond free trials I've not delved much deeper than the trial period. I still prefer Apple Music due to the integration right into Apple products' Music apps. Mentioning free trials, this is a no brainer. Just try it out. I did before committing, I've tried most streaming services this way to find which I prefer. Apple Music isn't confined to Apple products either! There's an Android app. This is nice to try out yourself or even allow a friend or gift recipient to try it out. I received this along with a purchase of iTunes cards so you can gift a card and this free trial. The card would be a failsafe in case the person doesn't remember to cancel before trial ends... the gift card can cover the charge of the first charged month! An aside, the regular service is $9.99 a month if one chooses (comparable to other services) but if you're a student the price is halved. So give the trial a try. Like it and a student, $5 a month for the service is FANTASTIC. Try it out.

Easy to use, lots of songs, soon to be on Alexa

I've been using Apple Music for a while now, and it has been worth it for me. This 3-month trial gives you enough time to see how it can fit into your life. If you have a couple of Apple devices already, it's very convenient. For example, I can Shazam a song with my phone, find it on Apple Music and listen to it right away. Then, when I'm at my computer, I can pop open iTunes and it'll be there, too. It's so nice to be able to simply go get a song without needing to go purchase it first. This way I can sample lots of stuff, or remember an old song I haven't heard for a while and go pull it up immediately. If you have a HomePod, it's pretty much the main thing that device does well right now—the HomePod is a really great speaker, and with Apple Music it makes a great pairing (hopefully Apple will continue to improve the assistant features of Siri to at least approach what other companies like Amazon are already doing with their assistants like Alexa). And speaking of Alexa, Apple Music is coming to Alexa as a skill on December 17, 2018. So, even if you don't have other Apple devices, if you have Alexa you can take advantage of your Apple Music subscription there as well.

Who knew the apple watch was like a mini ipod?! Probably the people who read all the details before buying... oops. Apple Music is great because I can download playlists and songs to my apple watch and listen to them even when I don't have any service! It's also great because now I can leave the house for a run with just my watch and my airpods and not have to carry anything else. I just have a free trial for now but may switch over permanently from spotify because the playlist availability and quality is basically the same but the family sharing is less finicky. Spotify gives me a lot of issues about who's in my"family" and kept kicking my family members off their accounts for not having the same address as me but apple music family sharing has been seamless. Not everyone lives with their mom okayyyy spotify. But that doesn't mean she shouldn't have access to some jazzy tunes anyway.

Apple Music has been my go to music service. The library is full of millions of songs; old, new and indie. I also like the option that Amazon has added support thru it’s Amazon Echo now. So if you have Apple Music you can play it also on Amazon devices, Sonos, and other media outlets. Having 3 months free allows you to get a feel of the service and make an honest decision of how you like it or don’t. I think the UI is better suited than Spotify and I do like that it works very well on all Apple products. I have both Apple Music and Google Play Music/YouTube Music and I always prefer Apple Music over all other services. Just because of selections and convenience within Apple’s own ecosystem of products.

3 months FREE is great, family plan is a good deal

I resisted jumping on the Apple Music bandwagon for a long time because I've been a bit resistant to the growing pattern of companies turning all their products into recurring revenue "services" where you don't own anything and lose all your stuff if you cancel your subscription. Alas, Apple's family plan of $14.99 for unlimited commercial free music streaming for a family of 5 (whom all have Apple products) is pretty fair. And 3 free months (available for each individual user) is also a nice perk before I combine my family under one plan. The math works out to about $2.25 a month for each member of my family of 5 for the first year for all you can eat music. That's fair.

Its a vast catalog, but your mileage may vary

iTunes is easily one of the worlds largest and most diverse catalogs of digital music but depending on what type of music you like it may or may not suit you. Yes the library is massive...daunting actually and having access to all of it is great but its hard to find new things you'll like at times. I find that when using the radio function for my preferred genre (Rock/Metal) I get to hear tons of new songs I never did, however most of them are 1 listen or skips for me, its very rare that the service will play a new song I will genuinely want to hear again. Also having the free version Amazon music/radio I find that using the same settings for genre I frequently come across more new bands/songs I actually like. I'm not sure what to attribute this to but, during the trial period heavily use the service before committing to payment, see if you experience the same thing I did.

I love music. Even more, I love music I can get without worrying about the security of the source. Queue in Apple Music. I wish I could have gotten a free trial for this length of time. Instead, I jumped in and added the family plan. LOVE it, because my kids are not asking for iTunes cards every 5 minutes, and we all can listen to whatever we like. Moreover, you can search for playlists, and even share your own playlists with your friends. At Christmas time, I stayed in the spirit of the holidays with countless holiday playlists to choose from, and it's all included. Hear a song on the radio that makes you want to hear everything from that artist or time period? Just search for it on Apple Music and play away. I don't like monthly subscriptions, but Apple Music is worth it!

    Changed My Life

Great product would give it 6 stars if possible. Even though it ruined my life. To get the most out of my FREE 3 month trial I decided to spend the next 3 months only listening to music. I took breaks only to sleep, eat and for potty breaks. So I lost my job 1st apparently free 3 month membership is not an acceptable excuse for tardiness within the “McDonalds Family”. If you were wondering it takes approximately 3 missed payments for the bank to start foreclosure proceedings. So after loosing my job, house, and shortly there after my wife, my free trail was up. Don’t worry I start my new job today as a karaoke DJ. You can see me every Thursday night at ball breakers bar and grill. Yup you could say that this 3 month trial changed my life forever!

Honestly, once you are paying for a subscription, most of the differences between services aren’t huge, at least not for iPhone users. All those other services have slick apps that will play on iPhones and iPads, though they also have the benefit of working on Android, too. Every $10-a-month plan including Apple Music offers a roughly similar selection, though each organizes playlists and music recommendations in a slightly different way. Apple Music, for example, is big on pushing you to listen to relatively short “curated” playlists put together by Apple’s own editors, or by big-name magazines and music websites. At Spotify, it’s easier to stumble upon quirky playlists put together by other Spotify users, a feature I particularly enjoy.

This review conflicts with itself a little bit...I know that. I am giving it 4 stars because of the content. If you love music and want access to a huge library, this product is great. I love the idea of having all of this music at my fingertips. When the free trial runs out, however, I don’t anticipate continuing it. The only reason is the cost. I am perfectly happy listening to the radio, my current music library, or other content. To be fair, I am not a big fan of subscription-based services. I prefer to purchase the individual songs I like, but I am adapting as that seems to be the way things are headed.

This three-month trial for Apple Music is a great option if you don't already have a subscription with them or another service. It gives you access to everything in their catalog, so you can listen to things as much as you want without having to buy or own them. The only con I have is that they integrate your music if you're using iTunes to manage your library; if you decide to leave Apple Music, and those songs were ones they already had available in their catalog, they will be removed from your library and you will have to re-add them from a backup or other saved location.
