I really love my apple pencil. It is not perfect in some ways but it is very good at drawing, writing, and touch control of the iPad. Here are the pros and cons as I have seen them since my use of the pencil: Pros: • Excellent for drawing or writing • Excellent for reworking photos and doing graphic arts • When used as a touch control it is very precise when using the tip. I even like using it to read with and highlighting text in a book. • It comes with a spare tip that can be replaced. • It comes with a lightning adapter that lets you use a lighting cable to charge the pencil. • It charges quickly • You can vary the pressure or the slope of the pencil tip to adjust the darkness or the width of a stoke of a bush while coloring a drawing for example. • You can see the charge level of the pencil by pulling down on the daily window shade at the top of the screen and touching widgets. The charge level of your iPad and the pencil will be displayed. Cons: • There is no way to attach the pencil to the iPad (however, I did purchase an Ipad case that I'm able to store my pencil within the case). A simple magnet or other mounting technique would have been greatly appreciated. • The cap covering the Lightning plug on the pencil is in no way attached to the pencil which makes it very easy to lose since you have to frequently remove the cap to charge the pencil. The cap does have a small built in magnet so that when it is installed on the pencil it remains in place, but once removed to charge the pencil its lifetime is limited to human error of losing it. • The charging connector supplied for the pencil is vey small and it also has no method of connecting it to a key ring or any other object. It is the size of a small medical pill and potentially easily lost. • The pencil does not even have a pocket clip on it like an inexpensive pen or a mechanical pencil. For $99 don't you think that would have been a nice touch? • Plugging the pencil into the side of the iPad to charge it just seems like an accident waiting to happen. I wonder how many people will either break the pencil or their iPad Pro charging port while doing this? Overall I would still purchase the pencil as it is a creative tool that is unmatched so far by other techniques to draw, color, paint or work on a tablet. You can draw lines so thin and small they are barely visible to painting with a brush with hundreds of painting special effects. The sensitivity of the screen to the touch of the pencil is amazing and it allows very precise control of your apps and artwork. The pencil connects to your iPad using Bluetooth and when you plug the pencil into your tablet's lightning port it asks you to pair it which occurs instantly. It is a 5-star tool for use with your iPad.

    More Positives than Negatives

First, the Apple Pencil has been the best stylus I have ever used (hands down). It connects without much effort, charges quickly, feels good in your hand, makes writing on the iPad Pro very enjoyable (it's also very accurate). The negatives: Wish there was a way to attach the Apple Pencil to the iPad Pro. I have the keyboard, and would be nice to have a little holder or slot or clip to hold the pencil. On numerous occasions, I have gotten panicked that I lost the apple pencil, because it will either get thrown in my pants pocket, or in the bottom of my laptop bag, etc. At $99, it would be expensive to lose. I'm not known for keeping good track of pens or pencils in general, they always seem to disappear. So that's my biggest concern with the Apple Pencil. Obviously, it's my fault if I lose it, and no Apples. However, would be nice to have some sort of way to keep this attached to the iPad. There are solutions available, but requires some effort on my part (like attaching a holder to the apple keyboard). Other than that, I'm a big fan of the Apple Pencil.

I bought this for my kid's new iPad and in fact waited for this product to be delivered to unbox the iPad. We followed all the instructions, but the glass sheet is not sticking properly (especially around the home button area. Is there a way to get my money back (considerably huge compared to other products)

This is what the iPad Pro was made for. With its pressure sensitive touchscreen, this pencil is simply a must if you're an artist (which I'm not!). It's extremely easy to use, just unbox it, plug it to the lightning port for a few minutes and pair it via Bluetooth. When you draw and write with it, you can get creative with pressure or even the angle. The battery is rather long lasting and the iPad will prompt you when the battery is low. What do you get for $100? The pencil, two different tips, and a female to female lightning plug adapter. That's it. You don't even get a sleeve or something to attach it to the iPad. Couldn't Apple add some sort of pencil holder? I had to buy a magnetized sleeve from Amazon so I can attach the pencil to the iPad while not in use and avoid missplacement (did I mention it costs $100?). Works as advertised, very accurate and fun to use. But way too expensive.

Great companion to the iPad Pro

I was very reluctant purchasing the iPad Pro 9.7. Reasons? Well the screen resolution is just like the iPad Air2, iOS9 still looks the same, and let's face it, it's pretty expensive! But when I used the Apple Pencil to do drawing and sketches (I used the excellent apps Procreate and Autodesk’s Graphic), it gave me a much better reason to purchase one, as well as the pencil. The Apple pencil is truly a great addition to any graphic artist (or anyone else who likes to draw or take notes) who happens to own an iPad Pro. Unlike my previous stylus from Bonobo, this “pencil” was accurate to the T. Very responsive in regards to both drawing and handwriting. What's more impressive is that there is hardly a lag when drawing (I didn’t notice any lag in any of the apps used except for Procreate….but it was very, VERY, hard to detect). In addition pairing it with my iPad Pro was a breeze! The Bonobo was not only hard to pair, but every time I I would try to use it with most apps, I would have to re-pair it with that particular app! Very annoying. As for cosmetics? I have read that some people feel that it is too long, too heavy, and too slippery. For me (I have long fingers) none of these were a problems of it being to heavy or too long. As for it being slippery, if my hands are greasy then yes it can be a bit challenging to hold it to draw accurately, but for the most part I have not experienced anything drastic that would cause me problems. The only thing that stands out as a con would be the lack of an eraser at the butt end. Sure, you could just tap the eraser icon for any graphics program to enable the tip of the pencil to act as an eraser, but the Bonobo I had had an eraser, and it saved some time in drawing or even writing something down. Please note it's no deal breaker though, but it would have been a nice feature. Speaking of the butt end, this is where it charges via lightning port. And it charges FAST! At one time I only had about 5% of battery life (you can check this under notifications on your iPad). When I plugged it into the end of my iPad, it took about 7minutes to charge back to 100%, maybe even shorter! There is a small white cap that protects the connector. Please keep this within reach because it is easy to loose one of these as expressed from other reviewers. Overall I am very happy with the Apple Pencil. It’s definitely a great companion to the iPad Pro when drawing. Yes it's a bit steep in price, but with the absence of headaches that I have experienced with other styluses, it's worth every penny.

    Best Stylus I Have Used

I don't know all the technical aspects of this stylus. But apple definitely made it easy to use. Plug it into your lightening port on your iPad Pro and sync with Bluetooth. After that you can use it just like any other stylus. But the accuracy and no noticeable lag make its the best stylus (even over the surface pro pen) I have ever used. When you draw with it (and I'm not any where near an artist) it's pressure sensitive. So you want to shade in an area it's easy. You want a heavy line press a little harder, want a faint line put very little pressure. It's probably the closest to writing on a piece of paper. Broke a tip? It's replaceable and easily. Of course the replacements tips might seem expensive, but when you buy Apple you know your buying a premium product and with that comes a premium price. Apple Pen ran out of juice? Plug it back into the lightening port for maybe 15-20 minutes and you'll be set for hours. The one thing I would like to see in future revisions of this pen is a pen clip. This way you can clip it to a shirt as oppose to attaching it to the outside of a case or putting it a bag or pants pocket. Other then those very minor things I recommend this item if you like to take notes or draw on your iPad.

Title: Apple Pencil - Unleashing the Power of Creativity Rating: ★★★★☆ The Apple Pencil is a game-changer for anyone seeking a powerful and intuitive tool to unlock their creative potential. As an artist, designer, or simply someone who loves to sketch and take notes, this stylus offers a seamless and immersive experience that sets it apart from other digital pens on the market. The first thing that struck me about the Apple Pencil is its impressive precision and responsiveness. From the moment it touches the screen of my iPad, it feels like a natural extension of my hand. The pressure sensitivity is incredibly accurate, allowing for precise control over line weight and shading. Whether I'm sketching intricate details or writing with delicate strokes, the Apple Pencil captures every nuance with impeccable accuracy. The seamless connectivity with Apple devices is another standout feature. Pairing the Apple Pencil with my iPad is effortless, with a simple one-tap setup that ensures a stable and reliable connection. The low latency of the stylus ensures a virtually lag-free drawing experience, making it feel as if I'm working with traditional pen and paper. This level of responsiveness is crucial for artists who require real-time feedback and fluid strokes. The design of the Apple Pencil is sleek and ergonomic, providing a comfortable grip for prolonged use. The weight and balance of the pen are well-distributed, preventing hand fatigue during extended drawing or note-taking sessions. Additionally, the lack of buttons or switches on the stylus itself eliminates any distractions, allowing for a more immersive and focused creative process. The Apple Pencil offers a range of features that enhance productivity and creativity. The double-tap gesture functionality, customizable through the iPad's settings, allows for quick access to various tools and functions within compatible apps. This eliminates the need to switch between tools manually, saving time and streamlining the creative workflow. The palm rejection technology is also impressive, as it detects and ignores accidental touches, ensuring a seamless and uninterrupted drawing experience. One area where the Apple Pencil falls slightly short is its charging method. The stylus charges via a lightning connector, which can be somewhat inconvenient, especially if you're using the stylus while it charges. Additionally, the lack of a dedicated slot or holder on the iPad itself to store the pencil is a missed opportunity for added convenience and portability. Overall, the Apple Pencil is an exceptional tool for artists, designers, and anyone looking to elevate their digital creativity. Its precision, responsiveness, and seamless integration with Apple devices make it a must-have accessory for iPad users. While the charging method and storage options could be improved, the overall experience and performance of the Apple Pencil make it a valuable investment for those seeking a powerful and intuitive digital pen.

I have had this for about a week, and so far it’s been EXCELLENT! The battery life is amazing, and it charges fairly quickly. It has great responsiveness, and there no noticeable lag. I also really love the scribble feature. The only thing I would change is the charging and pairing method. It look ridiculous, and you can easily break the connector and your iPad. Despite this, it is a great product and I would recommend it.

I have mixed emotions. This is probably the closest you’ll get to pen and paper on a digital medium. The response is nearly instant, the pressure sensitivity is remarkable, and you do forget you’re holding a stylus. While the tech is amazing, I had to take off a star because some of the design is just so...odd... and very, not-Apple. For example, to pair it, you remove the cap and plug it’s lightning port into the iPad. This is a bit odd, but ok except that you also charge it this way! I’m surprised more people havent broken the tips, honestly. Of course, it also ships with a lightning to lightning adaptor, but that’s one more (tiny) thing to keep track of. The cap is asking to be lost. Lastly, there’s no way to turn it off. Basically, just be prepared to charge it for 30seconds before each use. I think it could be improved by: - NFC pairing, similar to the way the AirPods pair - Wireless charging. Perhaps a magnetic tip cover that doubles as a charger? - Magnetic function that can keep it next to the iPad so it doesn’t roll off the table?

Although the Apple Pencil costs too much, in my opinion, I am not disappointed with it at all. I am a college student and use the Pencil with the 2018 iPad to take notes (in the GoodNotes app) and digitally paint (in the Procreate app). It is responsive, reliable, universal, and user-friendly. It is lightning fast to charge and pair. After taking some time to get used to using it, I find it very comfortable to draw and paint with—more comfortable than writing with a pen or pencil. I don’t get hand cramps or nerve pain from writing with the Apple Pencil, which is very important to me as I have fibromyalgia. If you’re looking for a reliable and efficient stylus to draw or write with on your iPad, you will be happy with this product—it is a worthy investment, especially for students and artists. If you’re just looking for a stylus to replace your finger (i.e. to sign documents or just browse), I don’t think you need to spend the money on this stylus, but I don’t think you would be disappointed either.

Bought the Apple Pencil to make taking handwritten notes on my 9.7" iPad pro a bit easier. The accuracy is outstanding. Writes easily. It is extremely responsive with a low latency. Battery is decent. Holding the pencil itself can seem a bit awkward at first, but eventually I've gotten used to it.

I just recently decided to go back to school online. I bought a new 9.7" iPad and was unconvinced to buy the apple pencil to go with it. Well, I am happy to say that it was well worth the money to get the pencil with the iPad. I actually do not recommend buying the iPad without the pencil to go with it. I am using a note app to take notes for my classes, and also use it to highlight my textbooks. It is so responsive and accurate to my actual handwriting. I have not a single complaint about this product!!! It is most definitely an investment for a college student, online students especially.

I've always been intrigued by the idea of inking with a stylus. I started off using the ones that you get for free or very little, the ones with the soft, bulbous tip. They work, but that's about all I'd say. From there, I "splurged" on those stylii with a clear disc on the end. First I bought a no-name, and then got the Adonis Jot. The Jot was way better than any other I'd tried, and together with the wonderful app named Good Notes 4, I was really getting into digital ink. Then I heard that Apple had added support for the pencil to their entry-level iPad. I decided to go for it, and I bought the new iPad and Pencil. Wow! This Pencil is simply amazing! There's absolutely no lag, and writing is smooth and effortless. Palm rejection works perfectly, so I didn't have to focus on how to hold my hand to make it work. This was finally the stylus I'd been waiting for. It is simply better than anything else out there, and best of all, you don't have to do anything to get it to work. Simply plug it in to your iPad and it's paired and ready. I wish that Apple had put some effort into making it easier to keep with your iPad. It's perfectly round, which means it'll roll away. They did add some off-center weighting inside to prevent, which is really cool, but doesn't work as well as you'd like. Even something like a pen clip at the top would be helpful. Instead, in typical Apple fashion, you'll have to turn to the after-market for solutions. Nonetheless, I really love my Pencil. If you have a need for the Apple Pencil, I don't think you'll be disappointed. From pressure sensitivity to shading to its sheer accuracy, this is one of those times when Apple just got it right!

    Best stylus for iPad

I predominantly use my iPad for business purposes, specifically capturing meeting notes and annotating documents. This Apple pencil has been THE best stylus that I have ever bought. I have typically bought cheaper capacitance units with a squishy tip however I was replacing them every 2-3 months or so. At $10-$25 per unit (I have tried numerous makes/models), I was in for $40-$100 per year. This Apple pencil does carry one of the higher price tags so if you only have a need for a "once in a while" stylus, you may want to pass. However, if you are a frequent stylus user (personally I use it daily), e.g. heavy note taker and/or artist using some of the drawing/painting apps regularly, this is the way to go. One thing that I would note, it is on the thinner end, comparable to an old school #2 pencil. I use a "skin" that I bought from a 3rd party, similar to how you would treat a phone, and it makes the pencil a bit more beefier in the hand, which is what I like. Plus, the skin I bought has some square profile geometry to it that prohibits it from rolling off of the table. Note that the Apple pencil is completely cylindrical, so it does roll. All in all, very satisfied and highly recommend for a frequent stylus user.

I use the Apple Pencil for painting in the Procreate app and taking notes on my iPad 9.7-inch. It is precise and has good pen pressure. Smooth glass screen protector does not seem to impair the stylus in any way. I experience no lag and it runs smoothly. The Apple Pencil, also, has a great battery life. While I like the look of the Apple Pencil, I have some issues with it's design. I'm not a fan of plugging in to the iPad to pair through bluetooth. I'm afraid that the tip of the USB could snap off and get stuck in the iPad. Would have preferred a button and indicator light like other styluses. It is also very thin and smooth which makes it easier to roll off a surface or fall between couch cushions. The tiny cap on the top is being held magnetically so it would be very easy to lose it. None of these issues are deal breakers as you could buy affordable accessories online that solve some of these issues. The Apple Pencil looks and feels like a quality stylus and it works great but I feel that it is quite expensive. Definitely worth buying if you can find it on sale.

At first I'll admit I was a bit skeptical about getting a Bluetooth enabled pencil to draw with. But once I had purchased my iPad Pro, and after reading many reviews, I found there was no stylus better for it than the Apple Pencil. It is very responsive and drawing with it on my iPad feels like using a real pencil on paper. It is lightweight and comfortable to hold and the battery life is very long and reliable. And if the battery gets low, charging the pencil takes no time at all (it can go from near dead to fully charged in less than 15 minutes). My only complaints are that the pencil is rather expensive (costing $99.99), and that charging it on your iPad through its lightning port on the bottom puts the pencil at a place where it could be possible to break it off of its lightning port if you aren't careful. Other than those things I feel that it is an essential tool for any iPad Pro user who loves to draw or write with their tablet!

The 1st gen Apple Pencil has a nice glossy white finish that feels nice to hold although a bit slippery. It’s nicely balanced and weights no more than your average pen. It pairs and charges by plugging it to the lightning port of the device and sticks out awkwardly. This makes me nervous because I am afraid it can easily break off. The lightning port of the pen is covered by a cap that magnetically sticks to the pen. The cap is rather insecure and has come off a few times while in the bag, so care is needed. The hard tip takes some time getting used as there’s little traction when writing on the glass. It also can get quite noisy as you write and may be annoying or distracting for you and others -especially in very quiet environments. Your writing experience may vary depending on the iPad you are currently using. For the iPad 7, there’s more lag as you write or sketch. It’s not a big deal, but if you write or draw fast you will certainly notice. There’s also the issue that there’s a gap between the glass and the actual display on the iPad 7 and that makes it feel like you are not writing on the actual screen. On my iPad Air 3, the pen is much more responsive and the “feel” is a bit smoother. There’s no gap so you really do feel as you’re wringing directly on the screen. Some people recommend getting a matte finish screen protector to make the writing experience much more natural. I personally don’t like screen protectors but that’s something to consider. The Pencil is pressure sensitive, which allows for making thicker lines the harder you press on the screen. This is pretty neat, especially when sketching. I tried other less expensive alternatives such as the Crayon. However, there are differences such as shape, tips and lack of pressure sensitivity. In the end, I will still choose the Apple Pencil, which is not perfect, but is still the best option in my opinion.
