1024 pressure levels make this pen feel like an actual pencil. Charges very quickly. Nicely weighted. Cons: cap seems like it will get lost. Works great with latest iPad. Great for sketching, drawing, coloring, painting.

    Very Nice Writing Tool

Leave it to Apple to feature a very nice writing tool for the IPad Pro models, it's a lot more professional looking and functional than trying to write with your finger [Steve Jobs was not on target with this issue] and a writing tool like the pencil is long overdue. Whether used for note taking or drawing, this is highly accurate and easy to pair. Could use some softening on the price range like the Surface pen [yes, I use one too] and maybe a slightly shorter design plus more looking like a pen. Oh yeah, a clip would be nice too. Just some observations but would highly recommend!

Best Stylus I have ever used

Yes, I'm calling it a stylus because not only can it be used for drawing, but you can use it to get around the iPad Pro. Its also really good for taking notes in a meeting. It lets you write as you normally would at any angle and there is no lag that I can tell. Its still plastic on glass so its not the same friction you get with paper, but you get used to it fast. The lack of an eraser is a bummer, but being able to quick-charge the pencil off the Lightening port is really useful. It looks funny when you do it in public, but it beats having to carry around another adapter.

    Wonderful product

I really like using this pencil for Microsoft OneNote and PowerPoint. It’s a little slippery on the screen, like there needs to be more friction to be more paper-like, but there are screen protectors to address that. It’s great how it plugs into the iPad to charge, but it terrifies me to do so because I’m worried it’ll get hit and break off. I wish there was something to aid the grip, but again, those tools can be purchased if desired. Overall great product.

For this review I've been testing the 1st gen apple pencil on my iPad 6th gen 9.7 in. from 2018 The biggest thing to note about this Apple Pencil is the price, for a 1st edition version of this product with a 2nd edition now available, I felt the $100 price was a bit expensive in the year 2019 but you're still getting a very high quality stylus with some cool tech inside. The pencil is heavier than something like the Logitech Crayon but it uses that weight to give this Apple pencil a sizeable battery that will last for hours of use, battery life will not be a problem. Charging the pencil by having it stick out of the lightning port on your iPad can be an awkward experience however and this was something fixed in the newer 2nd generation of the Apple Pencil. Pairing the pencil to your iPad is as simple as plugging it in with lightning port and making sure Bluetooth is enabled. The #1 reason to go with something like the Apple pencil over the cheaper Logitech crayon is the pressure sensitivity which even on this 1st gen pencil is VERY good and responsive, I've had zero issues with the quick and snappy feedback I get when using this Apple Pencil. I use this mostly for taking notes with apps like Apple's built-in notes app as well as an app called 'Notability' from the app store for taking notes as a student. I find it MUCH faster than typing on the on-screen keyboard of my ipad and I learn better when I hand write notes with the pencil. I'm no artist but I used the app 'procreate' form the app store and was able to make some basic drawings no problem. Overall I highly recommend this product, although I wish it were priced more affordably.

Easy to use. I was debating if it was better to go with a less expensive pencil from another company, but decided due to the Apple pencil's abilities and compatabilty to go with the apple pencil. It was def worth the money. It charges super quick and is smooth. It is pressure sensitive and a great tool for apps like Procreate.

The Apple Pencil is great to work with and enhances the functions of your iPad Pro. It's a handy and unique drawing tool that works like a real pencil with impressive accuracy. While drawing it responds to the angle and pressure you apply to it. It is very easy to set up and charges quickly, the battery lasts for quite some time. It is definitely one of the best "stylus" on the market, I highly recommend it.

Works with iPad mini to take notes easily and quickly, and I can hold the mini with my free hand vs other iPad models that are too big to walk around with. Also works when drawing or whiteboarding ideas. Charger located under the cap, just plug it into the iPad to charge, no cables to lose. A little pricey for being around a few years, but so is other Apple tech.

I think the apple pencil is very precise, light and makes writing like with a regular pen.It has got battery life. The only reason why I took away a star was the clumsy design of the cap and having to use another small piece to connect to the charger.I think we already pay a lot more for the apple pencil than for a regular stylus and we don't deserve this clumsy design. If you don't pay and buy some protecting case or connect something to the pencil, very soon you would misplace the small cap.

As a stylus, the Apple Pencil is great. Virtually zero lag when writing/drawing and the palm rejection works well. It'll be great for students, artists, and business users. The design of the Apple Pencil, however, leaves much to be desired. Take for example charging it with the iPad Pro's lightning port. That's just BEGGING to have the lightning connector on the Pencil snap off and get stuck in the charging port for your Pro. If they would have rotated the connector about 90 degrees and made it so it could fold at a right angle, the pencil could sit along the bottom edge of the Pro. It would still extend past the edge, but it would be better than what they do now. Another option would have been to use the Smart Connector so if the keyboard wasn't connected, it could charge the Pencil. The same goes for cap for the lightning connector on the Pencil, which will get set down while the device is charging, and forgotten, accidentally knocked on the floor and lost, or something else. Same goes for the adapter to let you plug the Pencil into a standard lightning cable. Then there's the Pencil itself, which is free floating. Microsoft had the right idea with the Surface Pro 4 to make one of the sides magnetic to hold the stylus. It wasn't perfect, but it was a far sight better than Apple's zero consideration for this aspect.

It's sort of expensive for what it is. But it works very well. Still learning what I can do with it. I like to draw out things that I'm going to build and would carry a small paper notebook. I can draw in OneNote now and have access to make notes on any device. Wish Notability would realize the potential for Windows and Android because it works great with the pencil.

This pencil is great for artists. It has pressure sensitivity for coloring and drawing which is very important for those who love art. It writes very well and is great for note taking. Charge last a long time and quickly charges if pencil battery is getting low. It works on the iPad mini 5 and current iPads. Highly recommend!

The pencil is much more accurate than your finger or rubber tipped stylus. Easy to use and worth having if you need precision while working on your iPad Pro. It charges quickly too. However, after a recent Apple iOS upgrade, the pencil will not stay paired with the iPad Pro if the tablet is turned off. The only solution is to NOT turn off the iPad. Fortunately, this works since little power is drawn when the iPad sleeps, however there are times when one wants to shut down the tablet. This always requires re-pairing. Hopefully, this problem will be fixed by Apple in the future.

Very responsive and accurate. This pencil is great although it's a little pricey. I bought a used pencil through Best Buy and it was missing both tips. I was pretty upset and returned it. Instead of replacing it with another used one, Best Buy replaced it with a new one. That was pretty nice. Pencil does lag a little in some apps. My favorite app is ProCreate. Cost is only $5.99.

If you have the Ipad Pro this pencil is almost a must and should have been included with the Pro. Is it amazing? Yes! It is a blast to use on the Pro especially for drawing. The design for charging is bad and could easily break the pencil. Be careful. I do like how the Pro can tell you haw much charge you have on the pencil. Wish it worked with the Apple watch to. Wish it had a built in erasure like the Microsoft version or slide into the Pro like Samsung Note. How's it work....excellently. Very responsive and fast. Also charges really fast.

I purchased the Pencil to go with my iPad Pro and do not regret it. I can always plug it into my iPad for a couple seconds to get me started in a meeting, and because the iPad talks to the pencil, I can always see the current battery level of the pencil if needed via the iOS widget. I like the feel of the pencil in my hand, and how smooth it is on the iPad. It did take a little getting used to for handwriting because it feels different than pen on paper. But it's not a big deal and you get used to it quickly. I did find that not all APPS are fully Apple Pencil compliant. But the ones that are work excellent. Even using the Pencil in Notes is easy, and you can draw some pretty amazing drawings in your notes using the drawing tools provided in the APP. Pefect for an outline sketch or idea. I also find it useful for photo editing using apps like SnapSeed when doing healing, or area selection and highlights. I would have given a 4 star review due to the APP integration, but that falls on the APP developers (not Apple) so I left it as a 5. Looking at the Pencil and how it was designed, it works flawlessly as designed, and you can't blame the Pencil if 3rd party developers do not support it yet.

Why is Apple Pencil better than the average stylus? It’s because it’s so close to using a ‘real’ pencil. The iPad and the Pencil work so well together that even slight pressure differences are detected and interpreted correctly on the screen. It’s so close to a real pencil that you won’t want to use anything else. Charging the Apple Pencil is easy. It comes with an adapter in the box that lets you plug into a Lightning cable and then you can plug the Pencil into it to charge or if you are on the go, you simply plug it into your iPad for a few minutes and you’re good to go. In addition to drawing, the Pencil is also great for taking hand-written notes and marking PDFs up. The only complaint I have is that when you set the Pencil down on a table or desk, it tends to roll away and the cap that covers the Lightning port can easily be lost as it only connects to the Pencil through a magnet. In my opinion, the Pencil is worth the pricey investment if you want to get the most out of your iPad Pro.

I use the pencil primarily with the apps, Art Set and Procreate. The pencil works flawlessly with no lag. It produces accurate lines and even shades when tilted like a real pencil. It charges very quickly and holds its charge for quite a while. My only critiques are that it needs a clip and feels somewhat slick. I added a grip and it feels better.

I love playing with the pencil on my IPad Pro. It is accurate and different pressure on the screen yields different heaviness of the strokes. There are several apps in the App Store that allow me to take advantage of its functions. The Pro lets me know when the battery is low and the Pencil charges quickly.

Works as described. It's like the pen every tablet should have. Work s seamlessly with my iPad pro. Great for drawing and taking in notes. Use it to sketch sanctuary technology layout (projectors, computers, connections and extenders). works with specialized app and even my personal old favorite Evernote. Every iPad pro owner should have one. A bit long and hoping for more carrying cases but for now just toss it in my tablet case and it travels well.
