This is the first time I've bought an apple pencil, and I'm pleased with what it can do. No it's not top of the line and the charging is a bit silly (unless you use the adapter for the charger) but it's still good for drawing on Procreate and taking notes. There is some lag, but it's so small it's not really an issue for me. I like the weight of it and the hand feel, but it is a little slippery.

I bought the ipad and apple pencil solely to do digital art, specifically on procreate. The pressure curve and the intuitive nature of the pencil in drawing (slanted is lighter versus drawing perpendicular on the tablet) is great. The pencil keeps charge for a long time per charge, about three days for me with drawing about 5 hours a day. The pencil comes with two tips, which is great for people who lose them or who use the first tip through quickly. Pairing it is extremely simple, and charging it through the port is simple.

The Apple pen has a nice weight to it. It’s easy to use with my IPad Pro. It does not work with my older iPad. It charges quickly and has a long battery life once charged.

Great Stylus for an Artist or Creative

This is hands down the best digital stylus I have used. I have used Adonit Jot Touch 4 and the Pixel Point they don't even come close to the accuracy of the Apple Pencil. The stylus is very fluid and has accurate brush strokes. Pressure sensitivity is very accurate and precise. You can create beautiful pieces of art and detailed notes with this Stylus. I totally recommend this Stylus if you are an artist or a college student takes notes for class. If you have an IPad Pro it well definitely enhanced your IPad Pro experience. Artist Tip: If you want to connect your IPad Pro to your Mac Download AstroPad App to use your IPad as a drawing tablet.

A product for a specific class

I purchased the apple pencil from my local best buy, i had an unpleasant time checking the stock online because it was not accurate (it stated my local best buy was out of stock), i called to confirm and after waiting 5 minutes for someone to pick up i took to driving to the store and while en route an associate told me to hold without even acknowledging my phone call or what question i needed help with and i arrived and made my purchase before the associate ever clicked back over to check if i was still on the line, nonetheless... The apple pencil is a great addition for someone who owns an ipad pro and is looking to utilize it for their artistic recreation and expression. After using the apple pencil for quite some time i started to feel some what limited with my use as a "non-artistic" person. The apple pencil does work amazingly well with the iPad pro with seamless integration, and flawless interaction. The pencil is definitely fun for doodling, notes, and even scrolling and text when its nearby it is very handy. Although it is a fun piece of tech 100$ for it in my opinion is a little bit pricey but it is an overall well polished product that i believe will appeal to a specific category of iPad users.

Best electronic writing and drawing experience BUT

I had the opportunity to use the Apple pencil for an hours before getting it and agree that it offers the best electronic writing and drawing experience to date but here is some pros and cons: Pros: • Excellent for drawing and writing, I’m using it with Adobe Sketch and Adobe Draw and the Pencil rocks • Excellent for doing graphic arts and wireframes • Excellent in regular touch activities such as open and browse application and when used as a touch control it is very precise • It comes with a spare tip that can be replaced, lightning adapter, and cable • Easy to charge, few mins will be in a good stay • Very sensitive for pressure while drawing or wireframing. • Having its own widget on the welcome screen to view the charge level Cons: • Very highly market price comparing with other stylus. • Plugging the pencil into the side of the iPad Pro is a disaster if planned to charge it this way also once plugged in the pencil you can realize there is no safe place to keep them together with no hazard. • No holder, no grab for the pencil make it a pain at sometimes. • There is no way to attach the pencil to the iPad Pro or any other apple product. I can understand why Steve Jobs talked about it before. • The pencil does not even have a pocket clip on it like an inexpensive pen or a mechanical pencil.

I love this device, couldnt live without the Apple Pencil now that it has become such a part of taking notes. My class lectures I play on powerpoint along with the teachers on the projector. I can write notes and draw right in the slides quickly and writes precisely. Fun for drawing and coloring too. My kids love it. I especially like in the Notes app on ios devices how i can put a ruler on the screen and it tells me the angle its at and it will snap a straight line to the ruler. Also catches peoples envious attention around me :) I saw several people buy it around me just from seeing how useful it is (and pretty).

I have been wanting to purchase an Apple pencil to use for making notes and highlighting information in articles I have to read for school. It does the job and makes it easier to make notes without using my finger. One downfall is that the cap is only a cap, and I have to change the setting from pencil to eraser in order to remove any mistakes. Also, you have to make sure to take it out of pencil (note taking) mode in order to change pages. It was easy to set up and the ipad alerts me when the battery is low. However, I never know when the pencil is fully charged, so I just guess.

I am a super tactile person, especially when it comes to writing and drawing. I absolutely love the feel and feedback of this device, it works beautifully. I wish it came with a more secure way of attaching it to the iPad for storage. I also wish it came with more of like a charging dock type scenario, or something. The charging is a little funky. But it does charge very quickly, and runs forever without charging. Some people may find it to be useless if they don't like handwritten notes, or don't do art. There aren't a huge number of apps that take advantage of it yet.

Stellar design - lacks full UI/swipe functionality

If this weren't an Apple product, this pencil would easily warrant at least 4 stars just due to the minimal yet confident feel of the device, and the sheer joy it is to use in conjunction with the iPad Pro. Unfortunately, they left some pretty big gaps in the UI which leads to a proportionally poor UX which I can't ignore BECAUSE of the fact that they're Apple. So much that I am actually sitting here writing a review about it instead of using the undefined and altogether priceless moments of my life to do something - ANYTHING else more substantially fulfilling. But here we are. The quick & dirty: this is a $95 proprietary Bluetooth device (which is about 300% more expensive than other active styli' you can find on Amazon with more cross/functionality) and it doesn't even perform the full range of swipe functions that you can a.) do with your finger (which defeats the purpose of using a styli and b.) that other cheaper off-brand CAN DO with not only the iPad Pro but other Apple devices as well (in this case, my iPhone 7+). I mean seriously - with the probable $50M worth of product and software development that went into this thing, you designed it with only 70% of the capacity to function seamlessly with the DEVICE IT WAS DESIGNED for?! Go try one for yourself at your nearest Best Buy or Apple store. See if you can edge-swipe in with the Apple Pencil as you would with your fingers, or other, cheaper active styli. See if you can resize images/screenshots with the precision of the laser precision tip, or if you have to bring your fingertip into the equation and risk putting fingerprints all over your pristine screen - which is a large part of why you bought the styli in the FIRST PLACE. If it sounds like I'm a bit jaded, it's because I am. I expected better of you, Apple. For the sum of $95, I should never have to lay a finger on my screen outside of the seldom-occurring desire to remind myself how satisfyingly smooth the oleophobic crystal glass is to the touch. Does it do everything else you would anticipate the Apple Pencil to do? Yes. Beautifully, at that. But this UI/UX oversight is just inexcusable in my book with consideration to who made this product and its price point. So would I recommend this to a friend? No. For that much money, you can do better, Apple. As consumers, we deserve better.

    Decent pen for iPad Pro

IMPORTANT NOTE: This product ONLY works with an iPad Pro. It does not work with any other tablet. When Apple announced the Apple Pencil I was really excited. I ran out immediately to get an iPad Pro. The Pencil was much harder to get a hold of. It was sold out everywhere but I just happened to catch a store that had just received a shipment and order it online. The Pencil itself is a good weight and size. I've used Wacom and NTrig digital pens before, and the Pencil compares favorably with them. There is no eraser on the back, and there are no buttons, which is both a good and bad thing (I'm always accidentally pressing the button on my Wacom pens). The Pencil itself is rechargable, and talks to the iPad Pro via Bluetooth. My iPad Pro told me the % charge remaining on the device, which was nice. However, I HATE the way the Pencil charges by sticking into the side of the iPad. It's awkward and nearly impossible on an airplane. Thankfully, the Pencil comes with an adapter that lets you charge the Pencil using the iPad charger. This is what I usually rate pens on: LATENCY: There is little to no lag on the Pencil, but this varies depending on the software program you're running. About the same as Wacom and NTrig. ACCURACY: The mark was made directly under the Pencil's tip, as far as I could see, allowing for the thickness of the screen on an iPad Pro (which is pretty thin). This is slightly superior to the Wacom products which need to be calibrated and even then are still never quite correct. NTrig is just as accurate. NEAR EDGES: Wacom pens are really bad near the edges of the screen but the Pencil was just fine. I didn't notice any drop in performance at the edge. SOFTWARE: This is where Pencil and iPad Pro are lacking. I just couldn't find a drawing program that was as robust as Photoshop on my PC using my Cintiq. Maybe I'm just used to drawing with those tools. Still, this is a hardware review so I'm not docking any points. After all the Pencil is a fairly new product and we can assume that software makers will soon release versions of their drawing programs that are specifically written for the Pencil.

Excellent pencil/stylus for the Pro.. I actually sold my MacBook Pro 13" and am using the iPad pro exclusively since all my needs are taken care of with it and the pencil. So far I have been using it in class to take notes and do math. It is very accurate! Would be interesting to see what the pencil 2.0 will be like. Note: I got the Logitech smart keyboard case for the iPad pro and I love how the pencil "sticks" to the case as shown in my photo to the magnetic parts of the case. Only downside is I don't like the fact that you can't use it while it is charging through the provided adapter.

Of course the apple pencil is. well the apple pencil. Works fantastic in combination with the right iPad. Has tremendous pressure sensitivity, thousands of pressure levels, very accurate. Charges fast, holds a charge for a long time. The order was a great experience place the order, shipped to the house in a few days. My wife uses this everyday to teach her online classes. Totally fun to use, actually feels better than fingers. Sorry Steve Jobs - I like the stylus with the iPad! I look forward to using it for note taking. I always hated paper, and notebooks... I always lost my notes. Imagine being able to take notes like you can on paper, but draw actual perfect diagrams, and be able to search and organize your notes as files on a computer! I also plan to try drawing! it's super fun to use.

The apple pencil 1st gen is a good product, but it wasn't really for me. It is extremely easy to get started, just plug the lightning end into your iPad, go to the bluetooth settings and pair it. It charges either plugged into the lightning port on the iPad or plugged into a lightning charging cable with the adapter that is included. plugged into the iPad I was a little nervous about it getting bummed and broken. In terms of the actual use, I was hoping to use it to hand write notes, but it was just okay for this. I think its best use is drawing and I could see photo editing being enhanced by it, but that wasn't really what I was looking for. I decided to return it.

I love the functionality the sensitivity, the responsiveness, and feel of the Apple Pencil. Make sure you get a holder for it. Artists and creatives will get a lot out of it, but it is also great for office related work. I use mine in the Paper app to take written notes like a notebook, and I use it with Writepad Pro in the background of Pages, so that I can write instead of type when in the mood. It drops a charge in about 2 days if not used, but charges quickly, either plugged into the iPad Pro, or into the USB adapter. Great product.

The pencil is one of the main reasons I decided to jump on board with the 2018 iPad 9.7 and am very glad apple has made the pencil work with this model. It is amazing when using with either the built in apple notes app or with some of the other note taking apps I have tried, most notably Notability. GoodNotes is also definitely worth a look. There were many reviews on YouTube for how to use the iPad for note taking and examining the pros and cons and use cases for different note taking apps. I keep my iPad near me as I work on the computer and keep a new note open and start taking notes when I am working on something. I can then organize those notes either in th note apps or in Evernote or whatever you are using. I’m finding this adds up to not looking up the same info more than once and is really a useful workflow for me, of course ymmv. My niece loves art and uses her iPad Pro with the pencil to reall Y do amazing things, it can be like drawing, water colors, crayons, paint, it’s amazing if you are an artist, she really loves it, I’m convinced apple has made a tool that really is like a pencil, it just works amazingly. Yes it’s expensive but this isn’t a stylus, this thing, however they do it, really produces paper like results. One thing to consider, I have added a third party paper like screen protector to my iPad that makes using the pencil on the screen feel more natural, it really makes a difference to have a little grit on the screen when taking notes and making diagrams. This does however unfortunat side affect of slightly altering the appearance of the beautiful iPad screen making it appear more mat, I’m adapting to this very well, it is a trade off but worth trying if you use the pencil a lot, I think it’s worthwhile, In summary it really makes the iPad a unique and interesting tool and I’m loving what it can do.

Bought this Apple Pencil to go with my iPad 7th generation newest version. I use it mostly for procreate and I’ve had no issues. Works well with identifying pressure, charges super quickly, in about 15 minutes. I charge it every few days, and if it’s idle it keeps its charge pretty well too. Is it overpriced? Probably. But I haven’t compared it to cheaper versions so I wouldn’t know for sure if the value is worth it.
