As a professional digital artist, I was excited to hear about the release of the Pencil, because I haven't been entirely happy with using most styluses on the iPad. Many of them are not precise enough or lag, causing a lot of frustration. I am happy to say that the Pencil blows all other styluses out of the water when it comes to digital illustration! Finally, my drawing experience feels like using traditional media. I can get a very fine line, and draw with pressure sensitivity. It's a total game changer for my work! A few cons are the fact that there is no eraser end, and that it is very easy to lose the protective cap covering the charging port if you're not careful. I also wish there was some sort of protective cap for the tip when I'm not using it. But other than those small things, I am very happy with the Pencil.

Obsessed with this purchase. A friend recommended it to me when I purchased and I hope someone sees this and and benefits from this review as I have from my friend’s. At first I wasn’t sure if it was worth the price or what I would even do with it but I talked myself into it. I have pretty dainty fingers but I’m still loving the precision it gives me with certain tasks and I also use a notes app that I write in as if it were a pen and paper but can sync across devices. I do a lot of documents so it’s also great for e-sign. I’m just beginning to find all of these extra uses for it but I am loving it so far!

    What a Great Tool!

The Apple Pencil greatly enhances the functionality of my iPad Pro. Of course, it can be used as a pointing device when a finger is just too fat. But it really shines as a drawing tool. With it, you can annotate photos and, using a variety of free apps, color over them. For example, I used the Apple Pencil to superimpose different colors on a photo of my house to simulate a new roof or new siding. It’s also a great design tool with so many different capabilities, it’s hard to describe them all. The Apple Pencil behaves like a real pencil, such that the angle at which the user draws affects the drawn output. Holding the Pencil at a flat angle to the screen produces a “shading” effect. I really cannot say enough good things about this product. I love it !!!

    More than a Pencil

Calling this a pencil is an understatement this thing does way more than just write on the screen it is a very sensitive stylus and an ease to work with feels good in the hand and the battery life lasts very very long. Connectivity to the iPad is a breeze just simply plug it into the lightning port and you’re done no windows to open no passwords to put in I enjoy using the stylus to touch the on screen keyboard so much that I hardly ever use The Apple keyboard cover that I have . Remember the pencil only works with the 6th generation iPad and iPad Pro⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

It's nice to use a tool that seems like it was designed for your hand. I've used plenty of stylus' before and, although this isn't one, it still has to function against an apparatus of equal awesomeness. The Apple Pencil is simple and elegant. It works very well in every app I've tried it with. I'm not an Apple nerd, but when they designed this thing, they thought of everything....almost. One of the downsides to this beauty is the cap that covers the charging plug. Although it is mildly magnetic, and holds well enough to the pencil, it would be a mistake to assume that it can't get lost. This thing is light and tiny. I haven't purchased a sling to keep it held onto the pencil, but I'm highly considering it. All in all though, a wonderful $99 toy that really adds a nice flavor to the iPad Pro.

I use this way more than I thought I would. I like to draw, and this thing is as accurate as using a regular pencil with paper. Dead on. Long battery life, and if you get the right case with a built in holder.... perfect.

The pencil charges quickly and holds a decent charge. Flows smoothly on drawing and coloring apps. Comfortable feel in hand. Too bad not in rose gold to match my iPad pro. Have not tried handwriting as of yet. Does not disappoint.

The most precise pen on the market

I write extremely small. The Apple Pencil is the most precise pen on the market in my opinion. I can write extremely small and not compromise any letters. I've used this primarily in Microsoft OneNote on the iPad Pro and a little in Procreate. So far I've had no issues out of the pencil. The battery life of the pencil is fantastic and a charge takes no time at all. I've read many people have issues breaking the tip of the pencil. As long as you're not bearing down hard, you should be fine. I use moderate pressure when writing and this is a non-issue for me. If you're a writer/drawer that bears down hard on your pencil this might be an issue to think about. Overall, I highly recommend this pencil. Steep price tag for a stylus but like all things Apple, it is certainly worth it.

I am absolutely amazed at how perfect this works. Very smooth when writing, like a real pen. Can not express how wonderful it works for drawing. It recognizes how your holding the pencil, so you can do things like shading.

First let me say this is a great product and a must have if you have an iPad Pro. Now for the part that makes me hesitant. The price, for what this is, is typical overpriced Apple. Also not impressed that it requires charging. that’s where Wacom has Apple Pencil beat. It’s possible to charge the pencil from the tablet, but it’s awkward and frightens me that somthing will get moved wrong and break while plugged in. That said, it does charge quickly so that’s a plus. Unfortunately the pencil discharges if you use it or not. No off button. Apple got some stuff right, but also missed the mark on a few things. Overall, it works really, really well and while I feel 100 bucks is overpriced, there’s no way around the typical Apple price gouging.

I was skeptical about this pencil and the cost vs benefit. My wife really wanted it for her iPad Pro. It is really cool with how easy it is to use, but I still wonder how much benefit it is. Time will tell. I think for artistic apps and actually writing on the iPad, it makes sense. As a stylus only, probably not a benefit.

Unless you draw or edit a lot of documents, the price doesn’t justify the means. It is stylish and responsive, a charge lasts forever, and feels good in the hand....but so does 100 bucks. Bought this cause I had some rewards about to expire and didn’t really need anything, so what the heck, 85 bucks, ok, why not?

I have tried various third party styluses and this one pairs effortlessly with the iPad. It’s lightweight, works with a screen protector and moves smoothly across the screen for sketching and scrolling.

I bought this pencil to use with my Gen 6 iPad. I had played around at the best buy store, but once I started actually using it I must admit I am pretty impressed. I have even started taking it to meetings at work and just emailing my notes to myself after meetings. Works great and even just using the Notes app on my iPad, my notes are much more versatile and useful than just typing on my laptop. Very responsive and no lag. Charges to full charge very quickly and can either charge to the wall or directly in the ipad. Better than my experiences with typical stylus pens. The only downside is that it is perfectly round and will roll off of any surface.

This was a great change from using my finger for the various scrolling, writing, and tapping on my iPad. Have some arthritis in my hand and it’s nice to be able to place my hands in a different position when using my iPad. Seems to hold a charge for 1-2 days and Takes about 2 hours to charge. It is on the expensive side.

I love the feel of the pen! It's a great accessory to the iPad. My husband is a digital artist, and he LOVES it! It's a bit overpriced (as all things Apple), but that's to be expected. I recommend getting an aftermarket cap that is tethered to the pen, as the cap that comes with it is very easy to lose.

I held off for several years on buying the Apple Pencil due to the steep pricing, which is why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5. I really think that if Apple dropped the price to around $70, they would sell a ton of these. After going through multiple stylus devices, including a copper tipped capacitive pen, which worked fairly well, I finally bit the bullet, cashed in a couple discount codes, and managed to get the AP for around $60. Now that I have one, I have to say it is the best pencil/stylus out there. There is no comparison when it comes to the precision and sensitivity. I don't draw, but I use it for handwriting, for graphic markup, and for textual callouts. I'm a writer and sometimes I just want to write instead of type. So, if I had coughed up the $ two years ago, I wouldn't have spent more than that combined for other devices.
