Purchased as birthday gift for my nephew who likes to draw. He uses it all the time and has said he has had no issues with it whatsoever. He's able to make finer precise lines than he was previously able to before. Charging he said is simple. The only thing is there is a small piece that's easy to lose if you don't place it in an obvious spot when removing.

A Must Buy for 2018 iPad and iPad Pro owners

My wife upgraded her iPad mini to the 2018 iPad which supports the first generation Apple pencil (the 2018 iPad does not support the second generation Apple Pencil). The Apple Pencil has completely changed the way she uses the iPad, preferring landscape position and using the Pencil for mark ups and UI navigation. Charging via included adapter has turned out to be a good work around to using the bottom lightning port as you can charge the iPad and Pencil simultaneously. Not a perfect product and not as precise as the second generation Pencil, but for 2018 iPad owners this Apple Pencil First Generation is a Must Buy.

The Apple Pencil really takes things to the next level and works flawlessly with the iPad Pro. I was nervous about spending the money on it at first but after using it to do a few sketches on the ipad I find it well worth the price. It's so much more than just a stylus and the fact that you can charge it right from the ipad and get a decent amount of usage time out of it in only 15 seconds is amazing. If you have the Ipad Pro and are a creative type this is a must have for you.

Everyone raves about this so not sure if I got a bad one but mine doesn’t stay charged as long as others said even when not in use. I have to turn off the Bluetooth to unpair it just to conserve battery it goes so quick. Also, it would be nice if there were some features on the actual pencil to due things, for example double tapping to do a specific feature or flipping it around to erase like a real pencil. If it’s supposed to have those features then that would be another issue with mine as mine doesn’t do anything special. Also the cap at the end and the attachment to charge are a pain! Easy to loose so you have to buy extra things to hold them which then just get in the way. Then one of the ways to charge it is putting it to the tablet’s charging port which really sticks out and can easily break off if dropped or bumped or you have to lay it a certain way so I personally don’t charge it that way - which is also annoying because if the pen dies when I don’t have the charger on me then I basically have no option but to charge it that way if I needed it for drawing so I find myself delaying on drawing projects until I get back home to my charger or I have to tote the charger with me incase it dies. I also don’t like that it doesn’t magnetize to the tablet when not in use which again can get lost or damaged. The only thing I find nice about this pencil is that it is very useful when highlighting something or deleting, taking handwritten notes, as well as it’s great for art/drawing. Other than that I find I don’t use it much and for the hefty price tag I would only recommend this if you do those type of things regularly. It’s too bad the second version doesn’t work with all Apple tablets as it has better features all around.

I had the opportunity to use a friend's iPad pro with the apple pencil, so I had an idea already of how cool this thing would be. But actual, daily use has proven to be even better than expected. It charges really quickly and feels like a good, solid writing implement. People are always surprised at how great it works with the iPad. If you're buying the pro, it just makes sense to complete the experience by adding the pencil. ESPECIALLY with iOS 11.

Love the new technology of being able to use the pencil to take more natural notes. Apple could have done a better job in the design of it. Having to carry around a tiny adapter to charge it with the the cord is ridiculous. Also it would of been a nice feature to be able to check the battery status of the pencil either on the pencil or via the tablet. The pencil itself is slick, placing a cover on it is helpful and also holds the cap when charging but then it won’t fit in the pencil holder of tablet cases. The pencil itself has a nice weight and thickness to it which feels natural. Still a tough pill to swallow spending $95 on a “pencil”

Works great with older iPads and iPad Pros that support the 1st generation Apple Pencil. Some nicer things were added to 2nd Generation that wish were in the 1st version, but in order to get those features you have pay more for the 2nd gen plus get new compatible hardware. Works well with many Note taking apps and 3rd party drawing and editing programs for both photo and video. When combined with Sidecar you can draw, edit on your iPad with the Pencil and it works on Photoshop on your Mac, awesome feature! Don't need a Wacom tablet anymore...

As with most things designed by Apple, this is a well thought-out item. It connects immediately with the iPad, and is lots of fun with drawing and coloring apps. Downside: a little pricey.

Sorry Steve Jobs, you said no one wants a stylus but you were so wrong...I LOVE using this on my iPad! Feels good, works wonderfully, and very accurate. Charging is not a problem as I purchased a lightning cord adapter so I wouldn't have to stick it into my ipad (now that was a pretty dumb idea). When I get an iPad Pro, I'll graduate to the 2nd gen Pencil, but for now, I'm diggin' my 1st gen. Oh and RIP Steve...respect.

After buying iPad 6th Gen during Thanksgiving Sale last year, have been waiting for a sale on the Apple Pencil and bought it when the price was right for me. It is one of the best compliments your iPad can get. It's not a stylus to just replace your finger but can be so helpful when taking notes or drawing. We are also using it to help our toddler learn to write and he's having fun with it too.

I have tried many “digital pens” over the years with my iPad. Upgrading to the iPad Pro and adding the Apple Pencil has completely changed the way I take notes, draw and sketch ideas and interact with the iPad. I feel that I am more productive now. I can use the MyScript writing keyboard to write my notes and it translates my handwriting into typed notes. It is very accurate and quick. The Apple Pencil is a must have if you have an iPad Pro.

I love the Apple Pencil. If you don’t have one and have an iPad you’re completely missing out! When I say iPad it is ONLY for the iPad Pro just to let anyone know, I know that’s been a question in the past. The pencil responds so well to the iPad. It is like writing with a pencil in real life. You can easily rest your hand on the iPad and the iPad knows to only respond to the pencil! Yay Apple! Definitely would buy again if I had to.

Like almost every Apple product, this Apple pencil works wonderfully on my iPad mini 5. I also bought the UAG case for the mini which has a great carrying place for the pencil. They work well together. For a smart stylus, I think it's a bit pricey, but you pay to get a troublefree product. Recharge from the iPad mini is fast and does not use much of the battery. It is a bit awkward plugged in.

iPencil from Apple - what's to say?

My wife wanted a fine tipped pencil - something more detailed than the generic stylus' available - to draw and paint. These don't work with older iPads, so make sure your iPad is compatible. I just bought her a giant, super-duper iPad Pro, and it works with that. It connected instantly and runs for hours and recharges in minutes. The only complaint I have is the price ($100.00? Really?), and I think it should be automatically included with each very expensive iPad.

I didn't have very high hopes for the Apple Pencil to be honest. I've tried similar products in the past and they have all performed pretty poorly. The Apple Pencil is far superior to any i've tried previously. It works seamlessly with the iPad Pro and i've been using it a lot in a work settings to take notes during meetings and conferences. Everything uploads automatically and is shared across devices if you also use OneNote.

I lost my Apple Pencil and needed a replacement so I bought another one. If your torn though about buying an Apple device you can draw with or saving money on an older version. Get the one you can write with, worth every penny! Awesome device to write with, move for move the best digital writing device. I used mine for school with one note and it was a life saver to have my notes between devices.

I went ahead and purchased the Apple Pencil instead of finding a comparable off brand. The ease of communication between apple products is what I love most about apple, so that’s why I purchased. The weight feels pretty good in my hand for a stylus and taking notes, but I’m not so sure about for drawing or illustration. The accuracy of the tip, however, is SPOT ON and great for when I am taking notes in class. Overall I would recommend purchasing the Apple Pencil to go with your apple product, but if you’re looking to illustrate or draw graphics, I would recommend getting a more comfortable pencil.

I'm going to get this out first. THIS IS NOT.... I REPEAT... THIS IS NOT THE ONLY STYLUS YOU CAN USE WOTHTHE PRO!!! This is a pencil for those who want to design and draw on their iPad Pro. If your just using to navigate around the screen and wright notes. A $10 stylus is for you. But highly recommend this for artist. It's responvisness is virtually instant and way better than surface pen. My friend that has the surface book with the pen prefers this Apple Pencil.
