This pencil is a very nice addition to my iPad Pro. It makes nice lines when drawing and the battery lasts a good while. I don’t care for the way you plug it in to the iPad to charge it and I’m fearful that I might lose the cap but the functionality is really nice. Even with the couple of thing I don’t like I still give it 5 stars.

This 1st-generation Apple Pencil is genuinely useful in a work environment. I have been using it in my office to take notes, and have been able to adapt to writing with a piece of aluminum on glass. The 2nd-generation Pencil does address this 1st generation's main shortcoming, which is that you have to charge it by sticking the end of it into the iPad's lightning port. (The 2nd generation charges as it magnetically sticks to the side of the iPad.) Then again, the 2nd-generation Pencil also costs more. Something to watch out for: not all 1st-generation Apple Pencils will work with all iPads. In particular, this Pencil works with the 10.5" iPad Pro (which is the prior generation), but not with the current, 11" iPad Pro. (Same for the 2nd-generation Pencil, which works with the 11" iPad Pro, but not with the prior-generation 10.5".) But the 1st-generation Pencil works with some of the new iPads (not Pro) versions (right?). At any rate, it is confusing, and so you should check carefully for compatibility with your particular iPad model before you buy whichever of the 1st- or 2nd-generation Apple Pencils. At the 1st-generation Pencil's price of $100 retail, it was overpriced. (2nd generation is even more expensive.) However, Best Buy had the 1st generation for 40% off and, at that price, it was an excellent buy. Make no mistake: this is a pleasing-to-use device, and works well for professional use. It's not a toy. So if you want to take handwritten notes electronically rather than using pen and paper, the Apple Pencil does the job well. Just make sure you have the right Pencil version with the right iPad version.

Great for use, awkward to charge

My wife uses this for her creative portraits that she does as a hobby and side business. Very easy to use and pair with a compatible iPad. The battery on the pencil lasts a considerable amount of time. If anything, it's very awkward charging the pencil with the iPad unless you use the separate (included) charging adapter to then use a charging cable. The adapter is very easy to lose.

    Excellent Digital Artist's Tool

If you have an iPad pro to utilize with this, it is absolutely the best tool for drawing and scribbling on the iPad. The tip glides seamlessly across the surface of the iPad and it is very intuitive with use similar to an actual pencil. The weight is hefty and balanced to go along with a very nice looking product. My biggest complaint is the propensity to misplace it. There is no way to attach it to the iPad and there is no clip or loop to connect it to anything. I once lost it for about a week.

This is a great tool to use with the iPad pro to show your creativity and artistry. The ease of use and recharging make this a great tool to use at home or during travel. I find it's also easier to use than with an after-market keyboard, which also allows for me to benefit from the minimal weight of the iPad. Would buy another if this ever gets lost.

    Not just a stylus

This is not just a stylus shaped like a pencil. Look at the details on Apple's website. It makes drawing and painting almost seem like you're using paper or any other physical medium. It's a little pricey but if you're a designer or artist it's a must have accessory for the iPad Pro. If you won't doing that kind of thing then just get a normal stylus.

I bought the apple pencil from best buy for the iPad Pro and I LOVE it. I've tried many stylus for the iPad and none of them even compare. The most recent one I used besides apple pencil was the 53 pencil (it was good, but doesn't even compare). The apple pencil feels like you are holding a real pencil. It is great and I would recommend it to anyone.

Works as expected, the text conversion feature on iPad is really useful for annotating pdf. It charges really fast through the iPad even though it awkward to plug it in the port of the device. Recommend getting some cover to improve the grip on the device.

The Apple Pencil is the reason for me to buy the iPad. It feels great in the hand and the precision is fantastic. My only drawback is that it is a little bit slippery, however it can be easily fixed by removing a pen’s rubber grip and inserting it in the Apple Pencil. There’s no need to buy expensive pen sleeves or grips.

Although I don't do any drawing, I do use it for note taking via Microsoft One Note. The pencil is very responsive and battery life is acceptable and charges in minutes. I use it for general use on my iPad as I can place my iPad on my lap and use the pencil as an extension of my finger touch and can tap items on the screen more accurately.

Sleek, effective, and weird to charge without the adapter or aftermarket dongle. For those whom find it too sleek, there are aftermarket skins and grips. It’s efficacy is within the everyday task and over the top with some apps. Having it stick out from the bottom of the ipad can be dangerous. A must have for most.

I love the Apple Pencil, but given that it came out after the Surface pen and didn't opt to have any kind of rubber/friction is disappointing. The device works great and has great pressure sensitivity, but compared to the Surface pen it unfortunately pales in comparison. The eraser and rubberized nib for the Surface pen make it the better choice for artists. For basic uses like writing and flick motions this will get the job done.

I definitely recommend getting the Apple Pencil if you want to do any sort of drawing or graphics. It is really responsive and makes using the iPad that much more fun. I give it 5 stars for its capabilities although I wish it didn't cost almost a third of the price of the iPad itself. Still worth it though

The Apple Pencil is easy to use and the pencil tip is ultra smooth. The battery also charges up very quickly, plug in the battery port for 10-20 seconds, yes seconds, not a typo and you can use the pencil for a full half hour. Great invention from APPLE. The Pencil can also be used as a stylus when it is not used for writing. Highly recommended.

I purchased the Apple Pencil for note taking on the Penultimate app. Worked well with app and kept my notes neat and legible compared to the previous soft-tipped stylus. Performed cursive writing well and there was excellent palm rejection. The Pencil synced easily and held the charge through out 8-10 hours of lectures and presentations.
