Pros: It's light, attaches easily and clings well, types nicely with a good feel to the keys, runs off the iPad's battery without draining much of it. Cons: Keys are not backlit, has to be seated in its proper slot for the keyboard to work. Also, though I knew this going in, it's not as protective as some other keyboard/covers--against dropping, for instance-- but that's a tradeoff for the light weight of it. It's also kind of pricey.

Initially I had some mixed reviews when I purchased this keyboard for my new 10.5 iPad. Overall, I've settled that this is a great keyboard with a few minor gripes. A few good things: I no longer have to pair my keyboard and worry about batteries! This is great for portability an the keyboard also doubles as a cover for the front of the iPad. The keys on this keyboard take some getting used to. Aesthetically, the keyboard looks nice and the placement of keys seems to be fine, I just can't get over the texture of the keyboard for long term use. For some reason, it ends up affecting how hard I press the keys and I find my self self-correcting much more than I'd expect. Overall, great buy and it's made directly by Apple.

Keyboard is well made. My favorite thing about it is the no-need to charge it. Does not add too much weight nor bulkiness to the iPad and offers good protection to the screen. Sometimes I have had to lock and unlock the iPad for the latter to recognize the keyboard. It does not happen too often but it happens. Good product overall, and as all Apple products, a little overpriced.

Very nice product. Nice and lightweight. Does not add a bunch of bulk to the iPad like many other similar products. Like that it never needs to be charged and has all the quality I would expect from an Apple product. Not much for protection but that is not why I bought this. Wanted something slim and lightweight. Very happy with my purchase.

This is the best keyboard yet for the iPad Pro. It’s not perfect, but it does work perfectly. I love the fact that it uses the smart connector and not Bluetooth. The only two downsides are the price (which is way too high) and the fact that it’s not backlit. You know Apple will gouge you on the price but it will be excellent in quality and functionality. And regarding it being backlit, well I guess you can’t have everything. If you need a keyboard for your new iPad, have the $, and don’t need backlight keys then this is the keyboard for you!

i really didn't think i needed something like this as i have always managed just fine with the onscreen ipad keyboard. my daughter told me there was no question about how much easier it would be to type using the smart keyboard, and she is absolutely right. i also like the way it fits so beautifully on the ipad with the magnetic attachment. it is very easy to put on and to open it to the keyboard. when you are finished, it wraps nicely and securely to the ipad--looking great and providing great protection. so glad i bought this!

First, you must buy this knowing specifically why you’re purchasing this cover. It is not a full case to protect the back. But it does protect the screen. The keyboard is very good, with all the shortcut access available from a Mac. Very responsive keys. I like that this keyboard doesn’t need to be charged separately, as it is charged from the iPad. Would definitely recommend, if you go in knowing specifically why you are buying it.

I resisted the Apple Smart Keyboard with my previous iPad Pro, opting for standalone bluetooth keyboards instead. The Magic Keyboard or Logitech Keys-To-Go, for example, are both great choices if you generally use your iPad on a desk, and don't move around a lot. If you plan to swipe your iPad up and port it into meetings and other places, and want to carry it alone (without a bag), the Smart Keyboard really is the best option. This new folio model (for the 2018 iPads) is built with a solid, rigid back, which adds some bulk, but makes typing on your lap far easier than the Smart Keyboard Cover of iPads previous. The plasticy thunk of the keys takes a little getting used to, but I'm really happy with this (admittedly pricey) addition to the iPad Pro. The connector means never having to charge the keyboard, too.

Genuine Apple keyboard for iPad. (Works with most newer generation iPads, but be sure to check.) Keys work well and it's easy to type quickly despite lack of travel. Connects via magnet on bottom of iPad for easy on and off. Power comes from iPad, and it shouldn't draw much power. When keyboard is not is use, it folds backward like the usual folio type cases with the buttons covered via the folding design. The keyboard will cover the screen, but if you want protection for the back of the iPad, you'll need to get a separate case. You can easily search for cases that are compatible with the Apple keyboard. They have a cutout that allows the keyboard to still attach with the magnets.

The Apple Smart Keyboard is my preferred iPad Pro Keyboard because it looks and feels like an Apple Smart Cover that also works as a keyboard. The keys are spill-resistant, have decent key travel for a fabric keyboard and the Smart Connector means no Bluetooth pairing or battery life worries. I wish they keys were backlit. Besides that, everything is great.

Why lose screen-space with the onscreen keyboard when you can attach a Smart Keyboard? It’s lightweight, durable and doesn’t require batteries. It serves as a screen cover when not in use and props the screen in different positions when you are using it. I would definitely recommend the Smart Keyboard.

No regrets with this little purchase. It is fast and easy to type up emails, the keys are spaced apart enough you do not make typing errors. It protects my screen when closed. I also not only use it to type but to hold the screen in the open position when I am watching my favorite movies.

This keyboard is awesome. Love the origami folds - the keyboard is covered when it’s not being used! New iPad pros have the keys always exposed when in use, and it’s like packing bubbles to my fingers. Couldn’t stop clicking them if I tried. Awesome to not worry about batteries or charge, It’s relatively light. Keys are clicky, so don’t expect to type in a quiet library.

I really enjoy my apple keyboard, I can take it to meetings and I don’t need my laptop because this keyboard makes my iPad Pro into a laptop and it’s very easy to use plus it feels like I’m not even typing is so confortable on my finger I recommend it for anyone who has an iPad Pro.

So far so good. You still have to touch the screen at times to navigate but it is a lot easier to type on a keyboard than the screen for me. The keyboard cover is not the best protection for the iPadPro, so I use my Urban Armor Gear - Protective Case for Apple® iPad (Latest Model) when I take it out.

As far as protecting the screen well it will cover it. I wouldn't say fully protecting it. Now the best part about it is the keyboard no batteries needed and you can easliy take it off when you don't need it. I would recommend getting some type of padded case on top of this cover of you travel a lot

While it is not all things to all people, I love this keyboard in that it keeps the ipad slim. Apple extended the warranty (3yrs) on these keyboard because they have a tendency sometimes lose their connection. They are working on it. Regardless, this is a great keyboard and I highly recommend.

Love it. I was skeptical because of other iPad keyboards I’ve used before but this is great. Convenient, lightweight, easy to use, no charging necessary and does not add excessive bulk. Well worth it.

Turns my iPad pro into a computer. So easy to type on. Great keyboard. Definitely recommend it. Actually purchased a second one for my son. He loves it. He uses it to take notes on in class. Very handy
