I have purchased many keyboards over the past few years and this is by far the best. I like that the keys are fully encased. I like that it isn’t Bluetooth, so the keyboard never needs to recharge.

When I bought a previous iPad, I chose another brand keyboard because I didn't feel the cost justified the purchase. For over two years, I was miserable. With another brand, the weight of the iPad and keyboard was way more than a standard laptop. When I bought a new iPad, I wanted to get a lighter-weight keyboard or just buy a cover. I was tired of carrying around dead weight. I spent 1-1/2 hours with Best Buy salesperson trying out various cases and it appeared that none of them was light enough except... Apple's keyboard! What gives???? Can't anyone duplicate this keyboard? So after 1-1/2 hours trying every combination keyboard and cover in the store, I decided to purchase Apple's keyboard and wow, was I surprised! Lightweight, easy to type on, and provides adequate protection for the iPad. Finally, something so lightweight, when I pack it for a trip, I hardly notice it in my bag! Finally! I would highly recommend this to protect your iPad and to use it as a keyboard, even though you may not think you will type on your iPad with a keyboard, the times you actually use it you will be extremely grateful. The keyboard charges when connected to the iPad so there is never a charging cable to keep up with. I keep mine on my iPad at all times. The connectivity is always there and I've never had an issue with it.

Idk about y’all, but i bought this keyboard and have been nothing but impressed with it, honestly makes the iPad into a computer for a third of the price of a Mac. The keys are extremely responsive and it requires no separate recharging. Plus it acts as a case and turns off the iPad when you are done using it. I have had it for just about a month now and have had no problems what so ever.

This keyboard alone makes the Ipad Pro worth the purchase. Keys are just the right size, the feel of the keys is great and most important - it's thin and does not add too much weight.

For my older iPad Air 2, I owned a belkin keyboard case that I absolutely loved. It was compact, protected the back, the keys lighted up. Now when I upgraded to the 10.5 inch iPad pro, options were limited. I tried the Logitech Slim Combo keyboard case but it was poorly designed and so big and heavy that it made the iPad more bulky than a MacBook. That was promptly returned and I picked up the apple smart keyboard. On the plus side it's incredibly lightweight and thin. The keys have a nice give to them considering how thin it is. On the negative side there is no protection for the back of the iPad so you essentially have to pair this with an additional case for a full keyboard case usage. Considering it costs $159 by itself that adds significant expense to a $800 - $1000 tablet. I wish the keys lit up as well. But despite the expense I'll probably hold on to it as it really is great for travel (i found a very inexpensive back case to pair this with that also holds the apple pencil) and easy to use with the smart connector. If it was $99 it would be a five star home run.

I have used a few bluetooth keyboards with my iPad Pro. Apple’s Magic Keyboard and Logitech Create. The Create was just too heavy. I might as well be carrying my MacBook Pro around with me. The Magic Keyboard was good, but too many times it would not be in my bag when I was out and about. The SmartKeyboard is light weight, attached to the iPad Pro all the time, doesn’t need to be charged separately. The keys took about a day to get use to, but that is the case with any new Keyboard. Overall, if you want to replace you laptop computer, the smartKeyboard and the iPad Pro will get you closer to doing that.

Very happy with the purchase! I read many reviews on different keyboards and decided that I did not want to have to mess with something that had to be charged or connect via bluetooth. This seemed like the best option. I was a little worried that the keyboard might be small and therefore awkward, but I find it very easy to use and sensitive to the touch. I did have a hard time finding a case that protected the back of the iPad that was compatible with the keyboard, but did finally find one. Super easy setup like all Apple products. It's been two weeks of daily use and I've not had a single problem.

A Convenient Size and Welcome Productivity Tool

I am very happy that I decided to get the Apple Smart Keyboard. The keyboard doubles as a front cover and can work as a stand (both while in use and not in use). I have tried a couple of other keyboards and they always seem to stick out, add bulk, or are somewhat inconvenient to use. This keyboard lies flat and allows for convenient use on a variety of surfaces. I have noticed the occasional connection issue with the keyboard, but this is typically resolved by turning the bluetooth off and back on. I definitely feel that this is a welcome addition to getting more use out of my iPad.

This is a great keyboard for the iPad Pro. It is only a bit larger than a regular cover, thus not adding too much bulk. But despite being light, the keyboard has a pleasant stiffness and is quite comfortable to type on, easily beating out a cheaper 3rd party keyboard I tried. It feels like a natural fit for the iPad. Yet it is really expensive for what is, especially since it doesn't provide any protection for the back. I paired it with a 3rd party back cover that had a built-in plastic slot to hold the Apple pen, and over all it really rounds out the device.

I wanted a keyboard that fit and protected the iPad when not being used. This keyboard fit the bill. I also wanted to get away from a blue tooth keyboard. I have experienced too many connectivity issues with blue tooth keyboards and other tablets. This is my first iPad. I bought the iPad specifically to run the Scrivener iOS software. The iPad is great for this use. The Smart Keyboard is awesome in connection with the iPad. I didn’t realize how much I would like the Smart Keyboard. I was concerned about the price and about how well it would stay connected in practical use. I was also unsure about how the keyboard would function for me as I have rather large hands and fingers. I was concerned for nothing. I have had zero connection issues. The keyboard is a natural fit for me. I could type almost as quickly straight out of the box as I can on a full size desktop keyboard. The only issue I have with the keyboard is the back is a little soft. It flexes more than I would like. However, it works just as well while setting on a pillow as I am sitting up in bed as it does on a hard flat surface. I would recommend the Smart Keyboard over all the other keyboards that are currently available. The final plus for me is I wanted to keep the combination of the iPad and keyboard very light. Being a cancer survivor, I am still recovering my strength. The iPad and Smart Keyboard combination is very light. I have no trouble carrying and using them together. A real bonus is how easy it is to disconnect and reconnect the keyboard when I just want to use the tablet. All in all, I am very happy with my purchase.

So easy to use, easy to connect, and works flawlessly. It also doubles as a stand, which is an added bonus. The only thing I would say, is that I wish it had protection for the back of the iPad. But that doesn't take away from the quality of the keyboard. Just pick up a case that's compatible with the keyboard.

Great Keyboard, Works Like a Charm

This is a well-constructed keyboard and is ideal/works great with my 7th Generation iPad. It is solid enough to use as a keyboard on a flat surface (or even to balance on your lap with the little fold-out stand), but also soft and flexible enough to make for a good top-cover for the screen when not in use. Good responsiveness in the keys, keys aren't too close together, and works exactly as one would expect. The only downside is the comparatively high price, but you're getting a good product. The magnetic clasp which holds it to the iPad (and also synchs it to work) is very strong and cannot be easily dislodged by accident (to test it out, I've tried jarring it, and it never moves at all; requires a deliberate, not accidental, effort to detach). Overall, the keyboard has the quality one would expect from an Apple-branded product; it comes with the higher price one would expect from Apple, but serves all needs well and is exactly what you would want from an iPad keyboard.

I wanted to get a keyboard for my new 10.5" IPAD. Already have a cover for it, so just needed a keyboard. Instead of one that works through Bluetooth, I wanted one that works through the Smart Port on the IPAD. There were only a couple of 3rd party choices. One includes the case, which I didn't need, and the third got pretty low ratings. The Apple keyboard did not have really high ratings, but it was the only product that fit my needs. Sadly, Apple has you cornered, where $159 is a lot of money for just a keyboard, and the price is pretty much the same across all stores. So far, the keyboard is working like it is supposed to.

Works really well with the tablet and east to type on. Folds up nice and flat. Connects well to the IPAD. Magnet that holds the keyboard to the tablet is strong and doesn’t come off easily which is good. No Bluetooth or charging which is a plus. Some CONS: Price, could be alittle more stiff so is doesn’t flex as much. Keyboard leaves the back exposed which could become scratched easily. Purchased a hard plastic cover on amazon that snaps on to the back. Apple should include this in the purchase. The keyboard might become hard to clean if it becomes dirty due the material. Overall it was worth the purchase.

To start, I will say that I had to return my first keyboard and exchange for another to get a good one. The first one had a small manufacturing defect where when using on a flat surface, the bottom of the keyboard (part nearest you) would pop up about 1/4” making it so you have to hold the keyboard down with one hand. After a quick search it sounds like quite a few people got keyboards like this and simply exchanged for a good one, which is exactly what I did. Best Buy was happy to give me a replacement. All of that being said, now that I have one that lays flat as designed, it is amazing. Very thin when folded up, it can fold into all of the positions as the regular smart cover, and also has a keyboard with a nice feel. Keys are properly spaced to prevent typing errors. There are no shortcut keys, however Apple has built in a ton of shortcuts using the command key combined with other keys. Also note, this does NOT have protection for the back of the iPad. The keyboard cover and smart cover are designed to only cover the front of the device. If you want rear coverage you can use the Apple silicone case in conjunction with the Smart Cover or Smart Keyboard Cover. Overall, this is a great product and you get what you pay for. Good quality, good feel, lightweight. The super thin profile is one of the big pluses to me. If you don’t care about extra heft, the logi keyboard case is pretty solid. All around protection and a nice backlit keyboard. It is unfortunate that Apples manufacturing process on this keyboard isn’t perfect, but even though it may take two tries to get a good one, when you get it its just perfect.

I got lucky that I found that at $100 because I could’ve bought a case that can hold my Apple Pencil and protect the entire body of my iPad for a regular priced $100 case elsewhere on Best Buy. I will say that once you overlook the price it is a very good keyboard and still has that nice slim feel to the iPad and the case.
