Customers are saying

Customers frequently mention the excellent display quality, high resolution, and impressive speakers as significant strengths of the Studio Display. Many also appreciate its elegant design and ease of use. However, the high price point and the 60Hz refresh rate are common criticisms. Some users also express concerns about the limitations of the stand and the non-removable power cord.

Yes, well worth the investment. If you are taking your video and photography projects you have arrived. If you can afford to purchase one, buy 2.

Awesome monitor. Would buy again and again. If you are on the fence about the height adjustable, don't be. The tilt is plenty elevated.

The Apple Studio Display - Standard Glass Tilt Adjustable is a premium 27-inch 5K Retina monitor designed for creative professionals and macOS users. With vibrant color accuracy, True Tone, and a stunning aluminum build, it delivers exceptional visuals for tasks like photo editing and video production. Features like a 12 MP Ultra Wide camera with Center Stage and a six-speaker spatial audio system enhance its functionality, making it one of the best monitors for immersive content creation and video calls. Its seamless macOS integration ensures an intuitive user experience, while the three USB-C ports offer sufficient connectivity for Apple devices. However, the monitor comes with some trade-offs. Its price is steep, especially for users who don’t require 5K resolution, and the tilt-only stand lacks height or rotation adjustments unless upgraded at an additional cost. Additionally, non-Mac users may find the lack of HDMI support limiting but my Surface Pro 11 and older Google Pixelbook work fine. Despite these drawbacks, the Apple Studio Display is an outstanding choice for those deeply invested in the Apple ecosystem and seeking premium quality and performance.

Just Right… For the Right User

Being an Apple user for 40 years, I have experienced many of the various monitors. Cinema Display, Thunderbolt Display, and now Studio Display. The Studio Display is a 5K monitor, which in some ways feels like a previous 27” 5K iMac without the brains. In using it the Studio Display I have been torn as to how I feel about it, and if I am the right user for the Studio Display. I use a 14” MacBook Pro for road warrior use, but when home run in clamshell (lid closed) with an external monitor. To this point, no matter how much I have spent, no monitor, from any manufacturer, has matched the resolution and clarity of the 5K iMac. Until now, that is. One USB-C / Thunderbolt cable connects my MacBook Pro to the monitor. With a 96W charge my battery is topped quickly. The monitor has three USB-C ports for other connections if needed. This is ideal for leaving peripherals plugged in while hitting the road with the laptop, and then quickly plugged in when back home. Speakers sound awesome. Webcam is good, but needs a software fix to be better, which Apple has promised is coming. It is only 60Hz refresh rate, which is disappointing as my 14” MBP, iPad and iPhone Pro use 120Hz and ProMotion, with HDR. For $1,599 I would expect the Studio Display to have these specs as well. If color accuracy is important, and you are an Apple used, this monitor is right. If you a semi-pro, this probably makes you the target user. Of you want Apple quality, and ease of connections when using an Apple notebook, this is the best option I have found since the Thunderbolt Display. $1599. It is a tough sell. At $1,399 I wouldn’t quibble. But the value of the Studio Display all depends on you.

I purchased this item from best buy with excellent open box, i got it home and it had dust all over it. I called best buy and they gave me a credit and said return if it had any issues. Well on the 1st day after the return period the screen stopped working. I have called apple, best buy, customer services, chats, all of them soend an hour trying but say theres nothing anyone can do. I soend roughly 30k a year buying from best buy, why they cant accept an item 1 day past the return date is awful. Amazon is where i will buy everything electronic now. Apple said that best buy should accept the retudn

Pros: aesthetics, guaranteed apple integration, 5K resolution, built in speakers and high quality camera Cons: price I transitioned from separate 27" iMac and MacBook air once those computers started to get old to a single MacBook pro with a monitor. First off, the monitor is expensive. You can easily get a simple monitor that works for 1000$ less. However, after comparing monitors that are more similar in feature set, the price is not that far off. For example, a Dell ultrahd 4k thunderbolt compatible monitor is actually more expensive as listed on the Dell website and the apple monitor is a 5k monitor. Aesthetically, it obviously blends in seamlessly with an apple laptop or mac mini if looks matter to you. Furthermore, when I purchased it, I knew integration with my laptop would be seamless. It has 3 usb c ports on the back that are basically extensions of my laptop so anything I plug in their interacts directly with my laptop OS without issues. Other monitors also have USB hubs built in. Would they work as seamlessly? I would guess they would, but I didn't want the frustration of finding out otherwise. It has built in high definition camera and a very nice speaker system if that is important to you. I plug in an external DAC and speakers so I don't use the speakers, but they do sound very good for built ins and reduces clutter on your desk if you don't want to use external speakers. In conclusion, if you want to maintain the apple aesthetic, want a very high definition monitor, and/or have need for the extra features it has then the monitor is worth the high price. If not, then there are cheaper options

I was hesitant to purchase this display because it is so expensive; however, now I am glad I did. Unlike less expensive monitors I've tried in the past, this monitor does it all well. I plugged in the included Thunderbolt Cable, closed the lid on my M4 MacBook Pro, put the MacBook in my 12 South Book Arc and voila it works beautifully. Paired with the Apple Keyboard and Mouse, I have all the features of my laptop at my fingertips from the webcam, to the touch I.D. features. The studio quality mics, also built into the display work surprisingly well. The speakers are the best sounding speakers of any monitor I've heard, and I've heard plenty. The fact that it is only a 60Hz display will go unnoticed by most users. I like the fact that it is a tried and true IPS display because they are far less subject to screen burn than OLED displays. The color accuracy out of the box is amazing, and like every other Apple product, the build quality is amazing. When you order make sure you get the one with the tilt adjustable stand unless you plan to mount the monitor on a VESA stand. I initially ordered the wrong monitor and had to return it and purchase the one with the tilt adjustable stand. I am very pleased with this product and should have gotten one sooner.

The Apple Studio Display has been a game changer in my workspace. From the moment I set it up, the sleek and elegant design of the display in silver has added a touch of sophistication to my desk. The standard glass with the tilt-adjustable stand not only looks fantastic but also offers practical flexibility, allowing me to find the perfect viewing angle for my needs. The visual experience is where the Studio Display truly stands out. The screen's resolution is stunning, delivering crisp and vivid images that make everything from photo editing to watching videos a pleasure. The color accuracy is remarkable, a crucial feature for my graphic design work, ensuring that what I see on the screen is what I get in the final product. One of the aspects I appreciate most is the display's brightness and contrast. Whether I’m working in a brightly lit room or in dimmer conditions, the screen maintains excellent visibility without straining my eyes. This has been a boon for my long work sessions, significantly reducing eye fatigue. The built-in speakers are another pleasant surprise. They deliver clear and rich sound, which is quite impressive for monitor speakers. This makes the Studio Display an all-in-one solution for both visual and audio needs, reducing the clutter of external speakers on my workspace. Connectivity with my Apple devices has been seamless, thanks to the display's integration with the Apple ecosystem. It works flawlessly with my MacBook, and the additional ports at the back are handy for connecting other peripherals. In summary, the Apple Studio Display with Standard Glass and Tilt Adjustable Stand is a top-tier monitor that excels in both form and function. It's an investment that has enhanced my productivity and overall experience in my professional and personal computing tasks. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a premium display solution

This monitor is a high build quality with accurate color, amazing 5k resolution, decent camera and good built-in speakers. With the integration with the apple ecosystem one would come to expect. The price may be the only drawback for some but overall there is not a better monitor to add to your apple ecosystem. I highly recommend it, if you want the best.

I love this display for its brightness, color accuracy, and lack of that nasty fuzzy look that matte screens have. For me, as a web designer and graphic designer, the QHD resolution (2560 x 1440) at 27" has always been the sweet spot (like my 27" Cinema Display from 2010 before this), but the Studio Display cranks it up to hiDPI ("Retina") so it's the same relative resolution, only sharper (with an actual resolution of 5120 x 2880). Brilliant. Plus it powers my Mac and acts as a USB-C dock and has great speakers, etc. Yes, it's a bit pricey. But as the main screen I use all day every day at work, it's been totally worth it.

    The best display for Mac

I owned an Apple Studio Display with the nano finish and adjustable stand for 2 years. I recently sold that to buy this one with the glossy finish and tilt base. I did that because the nano finish is noticeably less bright than a standard glossy panel even though its also 600 nits. The nano finish does something to the light emitting from the panel to make it less bright. My middle aged eyes really need a bright display. This is the best display panel for Mac for many reasons. For one, its one of the few 5K panels out there. Mac is standardized for 5K displays, not 4K. 4K text will be a little blurry. Next, it is the only non-matte 5K display available. Also, it has the highest brightness of any 5K display at 600 nits. Plus, you get the great built in Dolby Atmos spatial sound speakers. The 1080p center stage video camera is good enough for video meetings on Zoom and Google Meets. I don't miss the heigh adjusting I had in the nano version. The tilt stand is good enough and if I wanted more height I could buy a cheap monitor stand. You won't regret buying this monitor.

I’ve been searching for a 4K monitor for my new 16-inch Macbook Pro M1 Pro, which I use for productivity and photo editing. Because of the price, I placed the Studio Display at the bottom of the list as a last resort and owning the Pro XDR display was inconceivable. Just like everyone, I’ve watched Youtube reviews of numerous monitors. I’ve tried a few, but eventually ended up returning them. I just could not find one with the best color accuracy, text clarity, and build quality. After much frustration, I bit the bullet and nervously picked up the Studio Display yesterday. I was lucky to find a standard version in stock at the nearest Best Buy. After 24-hours of working with this monitor, I am very impressed how sharp, clear, and bright every text and photos are presented. For what I do, this is the monitor that I’ve been searching for. The aluminum construction is topnotch and did not jiggle when the desk is accidentally bumped. Because of the Apple “eco system,” it simply just worked straight out of the box with the use of one thunderbolt cable. No power button. It also worked with my 2018 iPad Pro without any hiccups. The non-adjustable height is not a big deal to me as I ordered a monitor riser to set this on to. Although a 32-inch monitor would’ve been nice, the 27-inch is just right. I only wish that the finish also came in space gray to match the finish of my Macbook. The built-in 12 megapixel camera is lackluster at this time, but word is that Apple is working on a software update to address the issue. I know the Studio Display is not for everyone, but it is for me from a productivity stand point.

Overall this is a very color accurate and sharp monitor. Having a built in webcam and decent speakers is quite a nice feature, but unfortunately with the few enterprise macs that I’ve tried using this with, those features literally will not work. I’m not entirely sure why Apple made this such an enterprise focused product, but also required drivers from the latest version of MacOS to even fully work. A lot of our work macs are still on MacOS Big Sur, and are unable to receive OTA updates, which means we’re stuck with using external webcams and speakers for instances like conference calls. tldr; works great, as long as your Mac is on Monterey at minimum.

The Apple Studio Display is just phenomenal. Other than buying an iMac 5k or the LG Ultrafine 5k display, there is no comparable display, and even those aren't quite as good as this one, as it gets up to 600 nits brightness so it has limited HDR compatibility (not a lot but better than the others mentioned). As a video editor, I want the clearest picture quality available and 4k displays of this size show way too many visible pixels for me, so the extra cost to get the "Retina" quality display is absolutely worth it for me. Color accuracy is also great, no calibration needed. The build quality is exactly what you'd expect from Apple, metal and sturdy. I have no complaints about the stand height, it's perfect for me. The built-in speakers are PHENOMENAL. They sound incredible for being inside the display. They won't match dedicated monitors, but are the best built in speakers I've ever heard in a display. The webcam isn't the best but it works well if the lighting is good. I know that will depend on an individual's situation, my display has a window right behind it so I get good light during the day. If you like Apple build quality, want a high resolution display with a dense pixel count, want excellent built in speakers and don't mind a "decent" webcam, this is probably the best display for you if you can afford it.

After going down a rabbit hole for months trying to understand how to find a monitor to use with my MacBook Pro that didn't have all manner of issues, I finally gave in and spent the money on an Apple Studio Display. I had tried three other monitors that were supposed to work well with Mac, and I could never get the color even close, plus they all looked dark and dull compared to my laptop screen. The Studio Display is truly plug-and-play, couldn't be easier and looks great. I do a lot of work in Photoshop, Sketch-Up, an photo editing. The colors match my laptop screen perfectly as it should, it's actually brighter than my laptop screen, and there are no issues with sizing, formatting, aspect ratios, color, blah blah blah etc etc etc . It just works. After trying and returning three other monitors ( Samsung, Ben Q, and Asus) and wasting so many hours of time on research, watching endless YouTube videos, and reading so many reviews.... I am just so relieved and happy to have a monitor that works seamlessly with my Mac. Plus, even though Apple never has sales, Best Buy had a sale on this monitor and it shipped quickly for free. I'm not generally a big fan of shopping at Big Box stores, but I'm happy to stay this ended up being a great solution.
