Customers are saying

Customers highly value the Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) to Thunderbolt 2 Adapter's compatibility with Apple monitors and its ability to connect older Thunderbolt 2 devices to newer Macs. They also appreciate its ease of use and reliable data transfer capabilities, noting its seamless performance. However, some customers find the adapter's price to be a significant drawback. The size of the adapter is also a point of contention for a few users.

Best choice for getting to Thunderbolt 3

This is the only real choice you have in a thunderbolt 3 adapter, but it works very well and is as about as well built as it can get. Its a sturdy cable that stays inline and doesn't have much flex to it. Its too bad that it has a little bit of bulk, but overall its ok that it isn't all that incognito. I'm mostly pleased at how solid the connections are at both ends of the cable. As with most apple products, its pretty expensive, but hopefully you realize its evil necessity when you upgrade your mac

It is the right tool for the right job. I needed to connectmy new M4 Mac Mini to a 27" Apple Thunderbolt monitor. It worked the first time.

I got this so I could connect to an older Firewire 800 hard drive, so I use this adapter in combination with another Apple Thunderbolt to Firewire adapter. The combination works to connect me to the old drive.

Works as advertised. Forgot mine at home and had to rush out to get one to plug my laptop into one of the Thunderbolt monitors at the office. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is the price. The margins on this thing have got to be through the roof. Should be able to sell it for less than that.

    Have to Love Adaptors

Purchased this adaptor to use with my newer model MacBook Pro with the Thunderbolt 3 port. My external hard drive only supported Thunderbolt 2, thus causing me to use the non-Thunderbolt connector. Now with my new adaptor, I am able to quickly and efficiently backup and/or transfer large A/V files along with compressed document and photo files. Quite partial to the price however, given my past experiences with applicable purchases, I am pleased with the outcome.

You might think that hardware or software sales are what make Apple so profitable. Wrong. It's due to sales of adapters that allow you to plug in your old peripherals to your new Apple computer. Maybe I just need to win the lottery so when I buy a new computer, I simply replace each of my peripherals at the same time. Need to work on that one.

I still use Firewire on some legacy audio gear. I already owned a Thunderbolt 2 adapter that gets me to Firewire, but needed the Thunderbolt 3 to Thunderbolt 2 adapter to work with my new iMac. It worked the first time, so I'm satisfied. The cost of the $50 adapter is a little on the high side ($30 would have been better), but it works with no issues.

Works great for connecting my 2017 MacBook Pro to my Apple Thunderbolt 27 inch Display. My only complaint is that it does not work with my HP Laptop and I had to purchase a separate adapter to get it to work.

Enabled me get my new MacBook Pro connected to older Thunderbolt Display. Ethernet, USB, and audio also passthough which saved me having to buy a separate docking station. However separate power is still needed which takes up another port on the MacBook. Although it works great, I wish it was cheaper.
